I have reoccurring abdominal pain. It usually only lasts about a week or two, subsides, and then I may no experience it for months. This time its hung around longer. About 3 weeks now, and its much more painful then usual. The pain starts under my the middle of my rib, spreads around the right and up my shoulder. When this happens the right side of my abdomen distends and feels hard. Its also accompanied by inability to keep food down, pain gets worse when eating or drinking, and I get diarrhea. Oh and some heart burn. Usually I back off of solid foods, and just focus on getting my fluids in as that is most important with POTs.
But I'm now into the 3rd week, I can't keep up with fluids. If i drink to much to fast, I throw it up. I'm drinking warm Gatorade for the most part, some tea, bone broths, and purred squash "soup". Unfortunately my weight dropped down to 119lbs (I'm 5'8") I started to have palpitations, passing out, and syncope episodes while sitting down (only ever have them standing). And for the frist time in my life my blood pressure was high, had a bad headache and I could hear my heart beating in my head. PB is usually 90/50, but it was 130/53. Sitting pulse was about 30 bpm higher than normal, standing was 130+ and all over the place.
I had to go to the ER. I was dehydrated (no surprise), and low on electrolytes. They did several bags of saline, pain meds, anti nausea meds, blood work, and ultrasound. They figured it was my gallbladder, but the ultrasound didn't show anything. They also ultrasound my pancreases, liver, and kidneys.. all good. The ER doc was good, and I was surprised how knowledgeable she was on pots. She said that while she believes that my pain and symptoms are real, they can't find any emergent cause and is referring me to a GI specialist. She also wants me to talk to my PCP about a pot and at home saline infusions in the mean time. She said she thought that if we could take the stress of all the fluids off my stomach them perhaps i can start to get small amounts of food down while we wait to get into the GI specialist.
Few issues, I can't get into my PCP till next week.. so I'm back to trying to get fluids down and keep them down. After the IV I weighed 128.. I did feel significantly better, 2 days out of the ER I'm back to 121. I did try to eat some lentil soup last night.. but threw it up.. I only attempted about 1/2 cup, and ate it slowly over the course of an hour.. didn't matter.. still threw it up. I am going to get some meal replacement shakes and try those.
I know GI issues are common in POTS. It does feel like in the past, because I have POTS, doctors usually just attribute everything to pots and give no solutions to they symptoms. If it were just pain.. I'd suck it up and deal with it.. I do that anyway.. but I can't keep food down, I'm feeling so weak. I don't trust myself to driver, I can barely move around without my heart freaking out and having syncope episodes, or fainting. We only have ONE GI specialist for the entire valley, and traveling further isn't an option at the moment. It could take up to 3 mo to get into him. I don't know what I should be doing in the mean time.. I can't afford to loose anymore weight, I can't keep up with fluids, can't keep food down... I keep hoping that whatever this is (Flare perhaps?) subsides.
I know a lot of Potsies struggle with stomach issues...What have your doctors found, and what should I ask my PCP to look fotry/prescribe/ect? My PCP does try her best to help, and she does take me seriously. What should I do to prepare for the GI specialist. When I went to the cardiologist, I was worried he wouldn't take me seriously so I kept a log of fluids, heart rates, and blood pressure. Should I be doing something similar for the GI specialist? When you are having a hard time keeping food down, how do you supplement nutrition? If you have a port for at home saline infusions.. is it worth it? What should I know?
Also.. since every time I've had tummy issues this is asked by doctors... I don't eat a lot of fat, it seems to aggravate my stomach. I also don't eat dairy.. can't stomach even a little bit of it. I don't eat fried foods.. same thing.. tummy can't handle it. I don't eat a lot of processed foods either. I make almsot everything from scratch. I usually (outside of these times I have these stomach issues) eat a very small meal for breakfast (usually eggs with veggies), Mid day snack (something simple like soup, baked potato, sweet potatoes, squash, small salad) and then dinner is my largest meal, but still pretty small, and I just eat whatever I make for the kids as long as there is no dairy in it. I usually eat this meal right before bed because eating a full meal drops my blood pressure, makes me sleepy and I can't do anything after eating a decent meal. I don't drink soda's, or alcohol. I drink one small cup of coffee in the morning, work on about a gal of Gatorade throughout the day, and have 2 cups of tea (decaf) and 2 cups bone broth. When I can keep food down, I take a multi vitamin, an iron supplement, methy-b complex supplement, and magnesium before bed.
Also, though i've been dx with POTS, we have not had time to rule out possible causes... so I have not had a head CT scan, EDS evaluation, or nerve testing. My husband is in kidney failure and recently lost most of his eye sight, so My health has been on the back burner for a while.. I've been trying to cope the best I can.. obviously I may have overdone it.

I don’t know how we got here. I avoid you every morning, and I hate the thought of seeing your face because it hurts too much. I’m angry at you. So angry. You know me better than anyone else on this planet, so you know how angry I get.
I think that’s why I’m so bothered by the way everything turned out. Because I gave you everything, I shared every insecurity, every vulnerability, every fear, every trauma, and every dark thought. There were things I hid from you too, but by the end, I don’t think there was anything I ever kept from you. Nobody on Earth has ever seen me as clearly and openly as you have. But I know nothing about you. I wish I could say I knew some things about you, but the truth is, I have begun to doubt every single thing you have ever told me.
You lied to me. Consistently, continuously, and whatever other c word could complete my futile attempt at some cheap alliteration to lighten this letter. I’m sorry that you felt you had to lie to me or felt you couldn’t be your most authentic self around me. Now that I’ve begun to see the truth, I know the lies began from the very beginning of our relationship. We were destined to fail from that beautiful evening in September. There was no other end to the journey we took. Call me melodramatic, but our entire relationship was founded on a fragile bedrock of lies, gaslighting, and manipulation.
As I leave what we had behind, I can see some dangerous patterns that you put me through and I hate myself for not being kinder to myself, for not being brave, and for ignoring my instinct. Hello /WinstonSalem,
tldr: Reddit recently announced significant changes to their API which will impact many users. We're joining the subreddit blackout starting June 12th.
What's happening?

• Third Party Reddit apps (such as Apollo, Reddit is Fun and others) are going to become ludicrously more expensive for it's developers to run, which will in turn either kill the apps, or result in a monthly fee to the users if they choose to use one of those apps to browse. Put simply, each request to Reddit within these mobile apps will cost the developer money. The developers of Apollo were quoted around $2 million per month for the current rate of usage. The only way for these apps to continue to be viable for the developer is if you (the user) pay a monthly fee, and realistically, this is most likely going to just outright kill them. Put simply: If you use a third party app to browse Reddit, you will most likely no longer be able to do so, or be charged a monthly fee to keep it viable.
• NSFW Content is no longer going to be available in the API. This means that, even if 3rd party apps continue to survive, or even if you pay a fee to use a 3rd party app, you will not be able to access NSFW content on it. You will only be able to access it on the official reddit app. Additionally, some service bots (such as video downloaders or maybe remindme bots) will not be able to access anything NSFW. In more major cases, it may become harder for moderators of NSFW subreddits to combat serious violations such as CSAM due to certain mod tools being restricted from accessing NSFW content.
• Many users with visual impairments rely on 3rd-party applications in order to more easily interface with reddit, as the official reddit mobile app does not have robust support for visually-impaired users. This means that a great deal of visually-impaired redditors will no longer be able to access the site in the assisted fashion they’re used to.
• Many moderators rely on 3rd-party tools in order to effectively moderate their communities. When the changes to the API kicks in, moderation across the board will not only become more difficult, but it will result in lower consistency, longer wait times on post approvals, modmails, and reports, and much more spam/bot activity getting through the cracks.

What's next?
In lieu of what's happening above, an open letter has been released by the broader moderation community, and we will be supporting it.
Part of this initiative includes a subreddit blackout (meaning, the subreddit will be privatized) on June 12th, lasting 48 hours. During this time, you will not be able to browse, post, or comment on this subreddit.
I will be reaching out to other NC Subreddit Mods to coordinate this as well.

On our part, this action is not something we take lightly. We understand that many of you enjoy coming here daily and this will be an interruption to your routine.

Ok so the title kind of says it all. We had a heated argument because I told her racism is institutional and it has a financial impact on racial people. I mentioned articles and stats. She kind of went on saying things like "even if you're racial you can get out of poverty and make it". I told her I'm tired of those successful stories of racial people who made it because that's just a way for racist people to cover up racism and statistically speaking, yes some people make it but I'm not talking about "making it financially " but the unfair chances people havr due to race. She kept going with how her father is successful even though he is Indian and I told her I was super triggered and didn't want to keep going with this conversation. She told me racism existed 50 years ago but that intolerance doesn't exist anymore. I am myself not white and I found thar highly offensive as I was talking about my experience as a minority. It got into a heated fight and now she wants to talk and have a discussion but I don't really know what to say ? Like she said we can disagree and stay friends but on such a matter I'm not sure I'm okay to agree to disagree you know ? I don't really know how to approach this conversation. I want to educate her on the matter but is it even possible? I prepared a list of articles but I feel like people like her just refuse to get educated on the matter ? We have been friends for 10 years and I don't want to cut the friendship if it's salvageable but I have no idea how to salvage it ? I had no idea what her political opinions were until last week as we never really talked about it.

I live in the UK, so we refer to service dogs as assistance dogs here, just to clarify in advance. For context, I have a 7 year old cocker spaniel who has been working as my assistance dog for the past 5 years after going through two quite lengthy training programs. I have a neurological/developmental disorder as a result of a structural agenesis/defect in my brain and as a result can lose my ability to balance, speak clearly or complete other fine movements for varying periods of time with no notice. My dog has been trained for a few tasks, mostly to help with loss of dexterity but most importantly to alert me by strongly nudging my legs with her snout when she first detects signs of it so that I can sit down to prevent falls and if necessary take medications.
She has always been brilliant in public since starting 5 years ago and was not ever reactive to things like shopping trolleys, other dogs, loud noises etc and handled public transport and crowds very well too. The only criticism that she got (which I can’t say should be criticism) is that her tail was almost always wagging, I think it is very much a cocker thing and they were made to be working dogs, so given tasks, she was in her element.
Recently though, a family member was taking her on a morning walk for me and she was attacked by a large and very fast greyhound. This dog looked as if it would kill her and was biting and shaking her, running too fast for any of the people around to catch. My dog managed to break free and bolted back to my house, across a road but to safety, however was shaking uncontrollably for the rest of the day and whimpered the whole time when she was at the vets. She was luckily mostly uninjured apart from a few shallow puncture marks on her back and presumably bruising, she healed up completely with some antibiotics but unfortunately has become quite nervous in certain situations.
It has been almost a year since, however she now leaps out of the way from large moving objects like pushchairs or bikes, tugging as far on her lead as she can, she is also nervous around some big dogs but seems absolutely terrified of greyhounds and will stop what she’s doing and stand dead still with her tail between her legs and sometimes even barks at them. She is still performing her tasks well but she just no longer looks adequately trained to accompany me in assistance dog only spaces. As a result I haven’t been able to go anywhere like that alone and am hardly going out to the shops etc at all. I have only had her accompany me in dog friendly places or where I have received permission in advance.
I am not sure what to do at this point, the trainers that she was with to start with is not confident that they could re-train her, especially at 7 and everyone’s advice about time is somewhat helping but I still don’t feel comfortable with having her accompanying me everywhere, as she used to and that has severely limited me too.
Sorry for the long post, I just tried to mention everything important and give proper context. I don’t blame my dog’s reaction at all, I know that she must have been massively traumatised, so I need to prioritise her wellbeing and don’t want to try and force exposure for example. Does anyone have any advice they could give me on this or similar experiences? Thank you!

Ashley sat beside him, arms crossed. After everything he'd heard about her, she seemed a normal person, even if she was a bit awkward. Her umbra was tight against her skin, and almost translucent. He knew from her tutoring that it's weakness was a trick.
Silva Wrassack, a Sage of Law, sat to his right. Her face was impartial, as always.
Soon, all of the representatives arrived.
"Attention all sapient races." A voice called out. "We are gathered here today to address a grievance by the United Republic of Terra, against the Xol Khanate."
Richard straightened his tie.
"The Council held a remote motion to hear the grievance, and the motion was accepted. Representative from the United Republic of Terra, you have the floor."
General Richard cleared his throat, and then spoke. "Peoples of the council, I am General Richard Hammond. With me is Ashley, the Apostle of our home star, Sol, and a Sage of Law, Silva Wrassack."
Murmurs ran through the chamber. God, Richard hated talking in front of politicians.
"Before I voice the Republic's grievance, I would like to extend a hand of friendship and peace to those around us. I am a General, indeed, but in Human culture, if there is peace, I am doing my job correctly. For background to those of you who who do not know of the Republic, we are a republican representative-democracy of Humans. Humans are a bipedal, warm-blooded, hunter-scavenger, omnivorous mammal species. We typically make decisions based on both emotion and logic. Humans have a lifespan of 110-130 years with our current medical technology, and we reach adulthood by approximately age 17, and reach full maturity at approximately age 26. We sometimes alter our bodies with cybernetics, but typically only for increased access to information and to enhance our social opportunities."
He saw nods and more murmurs across the chamber.
"Sadly, the Republic is here as a matter of conflict. We are here to file a grievance against the Xol Khanate." He gestured to Silva for her to continue. Better to let the Lawyer do her job.
Silva spoke up. "We accuse the Xol Khanate of the enslavement of our sovereign citizens, and the occupation of Pre-FTL Republic-colonized systems. We demand our systems be left, and our people freed and returned to us. We are open to negotiation, but our demand of our people's freedom is nonnegotiable."
The murmuring turned into a cacophony.
The arbiter managed to calm things down for the moment.
"Representative Jir'lan of the Xol Khanate, the integrity of the Xol Khanate has been questioned. The United Republic of Terra claims you have claimed their citizens as part of your workforce. What say you against this claim?"
The Xol representative, apparently named Jir'lan, spoke after a moment. "It surprises the Xol Kahnate that the United Republic of Terra exists in the first place. Our contracted workforces are second to none in the galaxy, as most of you know, and were any humans to be among them, they would be the rightful residential contracted workers of the Xol Khanate, and would not be citizens of this Terran Republic. How a human would end up outside of an FTL-isolated system is beyond me. I motion to table this discussion, and move on to more important matters."
The arbiter let out noise of boredom. "Motion to table, any objections?"
Sage Silva raised her hand. "We have an objection. How may I address you, arbiter?"
"Your objection is heard. You may address me as simply Arbiter."
"Understood, Arbiter. Our objection is as follows: when the human race finally united as one nation more than two thousand years ago, we sent out generation ships as an act of unity. The residents of those ships were Republic citizens, as were their children, and their children's children, and so on. When they arrived at their destination systems, those systems and the colonized planets became Republic territory. At the time, we did not know of the sapience of stars, but those stars would today be allowed to become Republic citizens themselves, or negotiate terms for colonization."
"Objection heard. For clarification, please define the function of a generation ship."
"Oh, I see." Silva said. Richard was surprised the concept was foreign. Silva continued. "A generation ship is a type of exploration and colonization vessel that travels at sublight relativistic speeds. As per the name, the crew of the ship is a pre-designed and regulated society that lives and dies aboard the ship, until it reaches it's destination system."
Murmurs began to echo as the sage explained the concept. Was it really that crazy?
"Understood. Any responses to the objection?" The Arbiter spoke. A distant hand was raised.
"Representative Glagnon of the Firma Federation, what is your response?"
The gruff looking alien spoke up. "How many of these generation ships have you fielded?"
Silva nodded as the arbiter gestured to her to respond. "Thirteen. Each vessel holds approximately 1.2 million people."
"Response heard. Any other responses?"
Another alien spoke. "What is the United Republic of Terra's policies on indentured servitude?"
Silva cleared her throat. "In the Terran Republic, Involuntary servitude under any circumstances, by any means of coercion, is illegal and will result in life imprisonment and the dissolution of any organized group or corporation found culpable by a random jury of their peers and a Judge."
The murmurs rebounded as Silva explained. Richard didn't have much hope for this dialogue anymore. It was clear that slavery was commonplace.
"For the record, extreme cases of systematic exploitation can result in a death penalty."
"Outrageous!" An alien shouted. The murmurs turned into roars.
"SILENCE!" The Arbiter declared. "Order shall return to this chamber. Are there any objections to the objection raised by the United Republic?"
Jir'lan spoke. "The Xol Khanate objects. Any humans or generation ships which have entered territory are ours by right of appropriation under Article 76392-Kit."
"Objection, Arbiter." Silva said, "The Terran Rep-"
"Silence. Provisional Attendees of this council are only allotted one objection for every motion. Speak again and you will be arrested for contempt."
Richard could barely hold in his rage. What kind of council was this?
"Any objections?" The Arbiter asked the chamber. Silence rang.
"Objection resolved. The motion to table this discussion passes, and the motion to question integrity fails."
Richard sighed. Of course it would come to this. He then heard a message in his communicator. The Central Congress just voted. He took a deep breath.
"Arbiter, I wish to comment."
"Granted, though no new objections are allowed."
"Of course, Arbiter." Richard said, a shiver running down his back in disgust. "Members of this council. I want to reiterate the Terran Republic's extended hand of friendship. However, it disappoints me greatly that this galactic council of supposedly intelligent beings refuse to do anything about this injustice. Our citizens and systems have been taken from under our nose by a law that we never agreed to follow, nor that we knew existed. I have been in contact with the Central Congress of the United Republic of Terra during this discussion. Fourty-Eight seconds ago, in a monumental unanimous decision, all 18019 members of the Central Congress, under guidance of the Grand Council of Sages, voted to declare a war of liberation on the Xol Khanate. "
Roars filled the chamber. The face of Jir'lan turned from surprise to both anger and humor. The sly shithead thought this was funny!
"SILENCE." The arbiter thundered, bringing the wining to an end. "A motion to declare war under the galactic rules of conflict has been raised."
Richard couldn't hold himself in. He laughed.
"You misunderstand, arbiter. There is no motion. We are not asking for approval. We will not be pushed around by the hubris of this council who thinks themselves better than their peers, and thinks the rights of individuals are an afterthought. We will follow our own rules of conflict, which we will deliver to this council and the Xol Khanate momentarily." he said. "We will take our leave. After all, I am a general. It is time to do my job. To the Xol Khanate, we heavily recommend you start removing your non-military population from your military centers and emplacements. We do not like killing civilians."
The door behind Richard locked.
"You will not leave. It is not our hubris, but yours, to presume this is your decision, or that you are equal to anyone else. Speak again and you will be detained." The arbiter said.
Ashley stood up, and spoken for the first time. "Respectfully, Arbiter, you can go chuck yourself, your mate, your extended family, and your firstborn in an incinerator."
Outrage ran through the council chambers, the Arbiter's face twisted to disgust and anger. Ashley turned to the locked door. Richard saw Ashley's umbra flared up in a rainbow of colored tentacles, and the door simply crumpled. His umbra control couldn't compare, even though Sol and Ashley had been directly tutoring him for weeks now.
"Security, detain them." The arbiter spoke.
Richard opened his briefcase. He flipped open the hidden panel and pulled out his issued PDW. Ashley took a deep breath.
They bolted down the hallway. Armored aliens rounded the corner and held out weapons.
"Let us pass if you value your lives. We have no quarrel with you. Raise your graspers above your head and drop your weapons." Richard said, pointing his weapon back. "Don't make me do this."
The guards took a step forward.
Richard opened fire, the bullets cracking the air. Two guards fell, and one more stumbled. Their shiny armor was cracked and split, a single hole in each. Not designed against kinetics, he guessed. He turned his gun on the remaining guards, but a flare of burning light filled his vision before he could do much else.
The rest of the guards became charred husks on the ground. Ashley's eyes burned with an orange light, the wispy flame in her hand dying out. She held the hand out, and Richard took it.
He spoke into his communicator. "Detonate the ship, according to plan A2." He heard a distant rumble as the plastic explosives vaporized any hint of Terran data or technology.
Ashley pulled him close, then her umbra yanked them through the metal corridors. They shot through the hallways towards the emergency exits.
"Gonna be a rough ride home, General." She said as the white, gold, and chrome hallways sped past them.
"That's fine. Always wanted to see those floes and swells you keep talking about with my own eyes, anyway."

Lots of storage space for all my media (in addition to games, film and mostly rare and/or ripped music, a collection that will be growing steadily). At least one big SSD (maybe something like 2TB) plus at least one other large drive (2+TB): HDD in that case is obviously more cost effective, if HDD I would like one that has a long shelf life and is reasonably fast. Of course I will be backing up my drives regularly. A motherboard with lots of drive mounts would also be useful if I'm going to expand my storage in the coming years.

I'm sure a lot of you very experienced DM's may see this as a no-brainer, but in my last session I had a thought a few minutes before the game started that ended up being a fantastic strategy for a semi-major enemy my players fought.
I knew the players would be approaching said bad guy head on, and that bad was a fairly high level spell caster- I was going through their spell list and saw Major Image, and thought hmm... Maybe I could use this?
Major Image is a pretty clever spell, the effects are described as being indistinguishable from a real object (20ft cube, more than enough room for an average humanoid!) and the rules specifically mention the illusion being able to carry out a conversation as long as the caster is within range. So, here's how it played out:
Players approach the hideout of known bad guy, they see bad guy patrolling the outside of the hideout. They approach, have a short conversation, right when things are getting tense the real bad guy, hidden ~60 ft away triggers a trap, the players instantly jump for the bad guy (literally one of my players was right next to them, and tried to tackle/grapple them).
Y'all, the looks on their faces when I described the tackling player just going through the illusory image of the bad guy before disappearing was amazing. Not to mention the bad guy and their hidden henchmen got to flank the players from behind after that. The players won the battle but not without one of them going down, almost going down multiple times, some other injuries, and a serious drain of spell slots. Overall it was a great combat experience and I think the Major Image trick worked beautifully!

Red bumps on my lips and tiny dots surrounding them. They're not filled with fluid or if they are then it's not enough to swab. Dots disappearing/reappearing at random.
I had a dry scaly red patch on my upper lip for 3 weeks at first that would get super irritated after touching it. Now, I think I have 3 bumps across my lips with tiny dots near them. I feel a burning/pulsing/numbness on them sometimes but not sure if it's all in my head or not.
No doctors are listening to my full list of symptoms, no one knows what it is, they're assuming HSV. I can't see a dermatologist for another two weeks.
I'm thinking cold sore is the most obvious choice, has anyone heard of these symptoms before?

Ugh. Throwaway for obvious. My (34F) partner (31M) has been leaving me feeling so broken. We are in this sick cycle of me asking/offering and then him saying no. My cup overflows with resentment and I explode and say things I don’t mean. He, admittedly, prefers masturbating to engaging with a partner. We have been through the ringer. I’ve stood by through active addiction, infidelity, probably a level of porn addiction, impulsive behavior and the list could go on. I’ve allowed it. And I’ve taken him back for the third time. I’m dumb, I know, please be kind. And it’s just treated like him being with me is some type of “reward” I would consider myself, when properly nurtured, a high libido female. I’m in my early mid-30s. This is where my mind is and I’m so sorry. But I’m always left to feel like I’m so broken. I’m a once in the morning once in the evening kind of gal. I do completely understand that that could be too much for a lot of people. Okay- let’s make a goal of three times a week. That’s too much. Okay- let’s make a goal of once a week. That’s too much. Okay how about once a month? Can’t even manage that. But then he’s saying “you don’t make me feel wanted” okayyyyy but when I ask you say “no” this is fucking up my head. He literally told me I’m a sex addict. Never once have I risked my own health or safety to have sex. I don’t check any of the boxes. I’m just what I consider a normal early mid 30s woman. So I’ve told him that I would rather break up. He says “well get in here so I can fuck you/eat you out” uh no- no pity or duty. I don’t know it’s a rant. I want out. I don’t want this to be my life. And I’m tired of being made to feel like I’m broken just for even having a small bit of desire and constantly sacrificing for that.
