Violent crime is up under DA Jenkins

2023.06.10 00:11 yggmoon Violent crime is up under DA Jenkins

"Experts cautioned, however, that crime rates cannot be laid at the feet of district attorneys — despite politicians’ rhetoric and voters’ beliefs."
"That did not stop the current DA on the campaign trail, however: In the months after Jenkins publicly quit the District Attorney’s Office and as she was being paid some $115,000 by various nonprofits affiliated with the campaign, Jenkins explicitly blamed Boudin and his approach for San Francisco’s crime."
"But between October 2021 and July 2022, Jenkins gave interviews, spoke on panels, and repeatedly tweeted her belief that Boudin’s policies resulted in lost lives, worsening street conditions, small business closures, and “chaos.” She presented an outsized view of the DA’s power over crime rates and public safety, experts said, when she took aim at policies embraced by Boudin, like pretrial diversion and plea bargains, and said they drove lawlessness."

2023.06.10 00:07 Trumperasty I was banned from "communist" subreddits for this

I never expected to be posting here but I don't know where else to talk about this. I was banned from DebateCommunism and communism101 for posting this:
I am a young comrade who lives in Eastern Germany. When I was 16 I sexually attacked a 12 year old girl who lived in my town. I spent time in juvenile detention before serving a suspended sentence, which is how I came to see the brutal racism and oppression of the poor in the so called "criminal justice system". I have seen some awful posts by supposed communists, especially the maoists, that say all rapists and sex abusers deserve to die, as if we can not be rehabilitated. Is this the typical communist view? That seems like a right wing reactionary mentality to me. Also the girl I attacked is apparently now a neo-nazi sympathizer so I am not sorry for what I did. Would you accept me as a comrade or not?
I was just asking me a question and they banned me, and refused to even respond when I asked for the reason why I was banned. What is their problem?

Lore:
In the late 19th century, during the unsettling era of the Industrial Revolution, a small farming community nestled deep within the heartland of a forgotten country thrived under the care of a diligent and compassionate farmer named Jonathan Blackwood. As the crops flourished, so did the hopes and dreams of the townsfolk who relied on the bountiful harvest to sustain their humble lives.
Jonathan possessed an uncanny talent for tending to the land, seemingly blessed by nature itself. With his expertise, the fields yielded more than ever before, and the villagers marveled at the abundance of food that spilled forth from the earth. The sight of the flourishing crops enchanted the townsfolk, and their admiration for Jonathan soon transformed into something akin to worship.
However, as the seasons passed, the prosperity that once enveloped the farming community began to wane. The crops withered, livestock perished, and a sense of despair hung heavily in the air. Blighted by a mysterious blight that defied explanation, the town faced an imminent threat of famine.
Desperate to save his beloved community, Jonathan turned to the forbidden arts of the occult. Rumors whispered of his nocturnal excursions to ancient burial grounds, where he sought guidance from the spirits of the departed. Driven by his love for the people who depended on him, Jonathan was willing to do whatever it took to restore the land's fertility and safeguard their futures.
It was during one fateful moonlit night that Jonathan stumbled upon a hidden chamber within an ancient burial mound. Within its depths lay an ornate lantern, its ethereal glow pulsating with a sinister energy. Overwhelmed by a mixture of awe and trepidation, Jonathan cautiously reached out and touched the lantern, and as his fingers brushed against its surface, an unholy pact was forged.
The spirit that inhabited the lantern, a malevolent entity known as Mirage, sought vengeance for its own tragic demise centuries earlier. Empowered by the farmer's desperation, it offered Jonathan a twisted bargain. In exchange for the spirit's guidance and the restoration of the land, Jonathan would become the vessel through which the spirit would unleash its wrath upon the world.
Blinded by his desire to save his community, Jonathan accepted the wicked pact. In that moment, Mirage's essence seeped into his very being, transforming him into a grotesque amalgamation of man and spirit. The once kind-hearted farmer was reborn as The Scarecrow, a twisted figure shrouded in tattered garments and adorned with straw-stuffed limbs, his hollow eyes burning with otherworldly fury.
With the newfound powers granted by Mirage, The Scarecrow returned to his dying community. As he roamed the moonlit fields, the eerie glow of the lantern he now wielded cast long, haunting shadows across the barren landscape. The presence of The Scarecrow alone brought terror to the hearts of the townsfolk, as they realized that their beloved farmer had been irrevocably changed by dark forces.
No longer bound by the limitations of mortal flesh, The Scarecrow's malevolence manifested through the powers of the lantern. As he stalked his prey, the lantern's glow intensified, and an oppressive mist engulfed the surroundings. Within this ethereal fog, the Hunted found their senses dulled, their movements slowed, and their chances of survival diminished.
The Scarecrow reveled in the torment of his victims, deriving sadistic pleasure from their despair. The once benevolent farmer had become an embodiment of fear, a being who lurked within the mist, harvesting the souls of those unfortunate enough to cross his path. The townsfolk's worship had been replaced by fear.

Unbeknownst to him, the tip was a carefully orchestrated trap. As he ventured deeper into the derelict building, he found himself ambushed by a group of masked assailants, agents of the Fog.
A vicious struggle ensued, but John was outnumbered and overwhelmed. Despite his valiant efforts, he was overpowered, beaten within an inch of his life. The assailants, believing they had dealt the detective a fatal blow, left him for dead, disappearing into the night.
However, fate had other plans for John. As his lifeblood seeped from his battered body, he was enveloped by an otherworldly mist, a manifestation of the very darkness he had fought against. In his darkest hour, the fog claimed him, granting him an unexpected second chance at life—but forever tethered to the fog and its twisted realm.
Now one with the fog, John emerged as a hunted survivor, trapped within the nightmarish trials orchestrated by the Fog. His skills as a detective proved invaluable in his quest for survival, enabling him to outsmart and evade the relentless hunters that pursued him. Yet, the line between self-preservation and selflessness became blurred for John. His desire to survive often clashed with his moral compass, as he would not hesitate to use his companions as distractions, ensuring his own escape.
While seen by some as a helpful survivor, John's reputation was marred by his self-serving tendencies. With every trial, he walked a precarious tightrope, balancing survival and the instinct to alert the hunter for his own benefit. His conflicted nature, a blend of resourcefulness and self-interest, painted him as a complex figure among the survivors, one whose actions could be both admired and criticized.
As John ventured deeper into the trials, he was haunted by the shadows of his past, the echoes of the crime-ridden city he had once fought to protect. In the fog's merciless embrace, he sought redemption, an opportunity to atone for the compromises he had made. The path ahead was treacherous, but John Carlson, the detective of old, remained determined to survive, to unravel the mysteries of the fog, and perhaps, find a way to free himself from its unforgiving grasp.

Kris Hackley had always been the embodiment of determination and leadership. As the captain of her local hockey team, she commanded respect and pushed her teammates to their limits. Yet, beneath her strong exterior, Kris harbored a simmering discontent towards those she perceived as unworthy or unfamiliar. It was this disdain that brought her to the fateful trip to the mountain, seeking an escape from the confines of her team and the pressure of her responsibilities. The day started with a hockey game, where Kris once again led her team to victory. But instead of relishing in the triumph, she found herself growing increasingly irritated with her teammates' shortcomings and mistakes. Seeking solace from the persistent frustration, Kris agreed to join her friends—Emma, Ethan, Anthony, Kyler, Kara, and her siblings Jamison and Kayley—for a weekend getaway in the serene mountain retreat. However, tensions began to rise as Anthony introduced a newcomer to the group—Olivia. Kris immediately resented the intrusion, perceiving Olivia as an unwelcome disruption to their tightly-knit circle. Her feelings of superiority and territoriality cast a shadow over the trip, as Kris became increasingly distant and hostile towards Olivia. As the group ventured further into the secluded mountain, their bonds began to strain under the weight of Kris's disdain. Unbeknownst to them, the dark presence of the fog had already begun to weave its way into their lives. It sensed Kris's isolation and resentment, drawing her closer to its clutches. Tragedy struck when Kris, consumed by her own emotions, failed to extend a helping hand to those in need. As they engaged in risky activities, disaster struck one by one. Kris watched in horror as Emma, Ethan, and Anthony succumbed to their fates—severing the already fragile bonds of friendship. Jamison and Kayley, her own siblings, suffered the consequences of her indifference. Overwhelmed with guilt and remorse, Kris found herself separated from the remaining survivors—Olivia and Kyler. Alone in the unforgiving mountain terrain, the fog began to envelop her, offering a haunting embrace that echoed her internal turmoil. In that moment, Kris's fate intertwined with the fog, becoming one with its ethereal realm. Now, as a Hunted survivor, Kris roams the trials, forever trapped within the fog's grasp. Her once fierce determination transformed into a relentless struggle for survival, and her perceived superiority challenged by the enigmatic horrors that lurk in the shadows. The lessons learned from her past failures now guide her, as she navigates the trials with a newfound sense of humility and empathy. Though the memory of her selfishness lingers, Kris's journey through the fog offers her a chance at redemption. She seeks to overcome her former limitations and forge new bonds, recognizing that unity and selflessness are the keys to survival in this twisted fog.

2023.06.09 23:37 Steeled14 Season 3 mid-Finale: Trump faces 37 counts of criminal charges related to mishandling of documents at Mar-a-Lago

Some say the writers would never give us the red meat, but I always had a feeling it would happen. And here we are. Bravo.
530 years ago, Columbus discovered the Americas for the Europeans. 416 years ago, the first British colony was started. Well, 246 years into the existence of the United States and a President has finally been handed criminal charges, helping to solidify our nation’s honorable strive towards Justice, for all. Nobody, not even a former President, is against the law.
We have a lot of mistakes to make up for, but today we have made right on our mistake from 1974 when Ford said justice is not to be distributed evenly. May we see the writers send this dude in the can. Then the show would probably be over.

2023.06.09 23:19 2201992 Let’s be honest here nothing will happen to Trump.

This is just Joe Biden Weaponizing the Criminal Justice System to go after his political enemies.
After the Election and if Joe Biden is installed by the Powers that Be Again Biden will “Pardon” Trump.
You know to “Unify” the nation. And say some garbage about we need to come together. Even though the ultimate goal is to divide the nation even more so then it already is.
Going after Trump is a message to any future candidate that wants “to drain the swamp”. They are making a example out of him. Disobey our orders and we will charge you with Espionage. Not Espionage against America. Espionage against the true people who truly run the nation.

A court on Friday unsealed the federal indictment against Donald Trump and an aide over classified documents found at his Mar-a-Lago home and the men’s alleged efforts to keep the government from finding the materials. Here’s what we know about the charges against the former president, brought by special counsel Jack Smith.

How many charges does Trump face?

Trump is accused of violating seven federal laws but faces 37 separate charges. That is because each classified document he is accused of holding on to illegally is charged in a separate count, and his alleged efforts to hide classified information from federal investigators is charged in several ways. His longtime aide Walt Nauta faces six charges, all but five of which are also lodged against Trump.

What are the charges against Trump?

Espionage Act/unauthorized retention of national defense information: Trump is charged with 31 counts of violating a part of the Espionage Act that bars willful retention of national defense information by someone not authorized to have it. Such information is defined as “any document, writing, code book, signal book, sketch, photograph, photographic negative, blueprint, plan, map, model, instrument, appliance, or note relating to the national defense, or information relating to the national defense which information the possessor has reason to believe could be used to the injury of the United States or to the advantage of any foreign nation.” Technically, that information does not have to be classified, but in practice the law is almost exclusively used to prosecute retention of classified material. In Trump’s case, prosecutors say that all but one of the 31 documents he is charged with illegally retaining were marked as classified at the “secret” or “top secret” level. The unmarked document concerned “military contingency planning,” according to the indictment.
A conviction does not require any evidence of a desire to disseminate the classified information; having it in an unauthorized location is enough. But the crime requires a “willful” mishandling of material “the possessor has reason to believe could be used to the injury of the United States or to the advantage of any foreign nation.” Charges are generally not brought without some aggravating factor making clear the retention was not accidental — such as evidence of intent to share the information, signs of disloyalty to the U.S. government, or simply the volume of documents taken.
Unlike other government employees, the president does not go through a security clearance process that includes a pledge to follow classification rules. But Trump received requests from the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and subpoenas from the Justice Department indicating that the documents in question were classified and needed to be returned to the U.S. government. Prosecutors say he instead sought to hide them from federal investigators. And while the president can declassify most information, there is a process for doing so. According to the indictment, Trump twice showed classified information to others, once while saying that the document was still classified and lamenting that he no longer had the power to declassify it.
Conspiracy to obstruct justice: Trump is charged with one count of conspiring with Nauta to hide classified material from federal investigators, by lying to the FBI about what was found at Mar-a-Lago and moving boxes of documents out of a storage room before agents searched the home. Trump specifically is accused of suggesting that one of his attorneys lie to the FBI and help hide or destroy documents.
Tampering with grand jury evidence: Trump and Nauta face two counts of trying to keep evidence out of grand jurors’ hands: one count of withholding the classified documents and one of corruptly concealing them. As part of those charges, Trump is accused of trying to persuade one of his attorneys to help conceal the documents, while Nauta is accused of hiding the evidence by moving the boxes of classified documents.
Concealing evidence in a federal investigation: For the same alleged conduct of hiding the classified information at Mar-a-Lago, Trump and Nauta separately face one count of concealing evidence with the intent to obstruct an FBI investigation.
False statements: Both Trump and Nauta together face one count of scheming to making false statements for allegedly hiding from the FBI and the grand jury that the former president still had classified documents in his possession. Trump faces a separate count for causing his attorney to falsely claim in June 2022 that all classified documents in the former president’s possession had been handed over in response to a subpoena, according to the indictment. Nauta alone is accused of lying to the FBI by falsely claiming that he had nothing to do with moving any boxes.

What possible penalties does Trump face?

The maximum punishment for each count of unlawful retention of national defense information is 10 years in prison. Conspiracy to obstruct justice, tampering with grand jury evidence, and concealing evidence in a federal investigation all carry punishments of up to 20 years. Each false statement charge is punishable by up to five years in prison.
If Trump was convicted on all charges, the sentences could run consecutively, amounting to hundreds of years in prison. But federal defendants are rarely given the maximum possible punishment. He does not face any mandatory minimum sentences.
Sentences in unlawful retention cases vary widely, depending in part on how sensitive the material is, how much of it there is, how long the person held on to it and his or her cooperation with investigators. A Defense Department employee in Manila who took home a small amount of secret-level information to work on a classified thesis project served only three months behind bars. Kenneth Wayne Ford Jr., who was found guilty at trial of bringing home national defense information after leaving the National Security Agency and lying about the case, received a six-year sentence. A former NSA contractor who over two decades amassed a huge trove of highly sensitive material, including hacking tools and details of overseas operations, was sentenced to nine years in prison. A Navy sailor who took pictures of classified areas of a nuclear-powered submarine and then destroyed the evidence was sentenced to a year in prison for retention and obstruction; Trump later pardoned him.
Retired Gen. David H. Petraeus was given probation after pleading guilty to sharing classified information with his biographer. At the time, the crime of mishandling classified information — as opposed to national defense information — was a misdemeanor with a maximum punishment of a year behind bars. It became a felony during Trump’s presidency.

What other criminal charges does Trump face?

Trump is charged in New York State Court with unrelated crimes for conduct that predates his presidency. He is accused of falsifying business records to hide payments during the 2016 campaign made to an adult-film star to keep her from saying publicly that she had an affair with Trump.
Trump is also under investigation by a state prosecutor in Georgia, who is looking at his efforts to overturn President Biden’s 2020 victory in that state. Smith is also investigating Trump’s attempts to stay in office after losing the presidential election, including his pressure on officials in battleground states and fundraising off false claims of election fraud.

Has Trump responded to the charges?

The former president described himself as “an innocent man” being treated unfairly in comparison with Biden. Classified documents from the Obama administration were discovered in Biden’s Delaware home late last year by lawyers cleaning out his home office. Biden’s attorneys turned those documents over to NARA, and the president gave the Justice Department permission to search the home, as well as his beach house and think tank office. The White House has said that only “a small number” of documents from Biden’s vice-presidential tenure were found. A special counsel has been appointed to oversee that investigation.

4 Stolen Birthdays!
The Auburn Mayor, Police and City Council have been complicit in the murders of three men; Brian Scaman (2011), Isaiah Obet (2017) and Jesse Sarey (2019) who’s families have been intertwined forever by Officer Jeff Nelson.
They will never again be able to hug their mothers, fathers, know their daughter, hang out with their brothers and sisters, cousins, friends or become the light for their commUNITY they were destined to be.
We have an opportunity to use our collective voices to make justice a reality for all three of these families.
Jeff Nelson should be fired, indicted, and held accountable for his murders.
Currently Jeff Nelson has been arrested and charged for 2nd degree murder and 1st degree assault. He is on paid administrative house arrest pending the murder trial in Winter 2023. The family has been waiting since the 2020 arraignment.
“The rogue police officer who killed my foster son Jesse Sarey is facing trial ONLY because of the weight of the growing social movement against police brutality, in recent years. This criminal officer (like many officers) has been involved in killing and injuring others, prior to my son. He has already cost taxpayers $6.5 million. In spite of facing trial, he is on paid administrative leave, even though under house arrest." said Elaine Simons, foster mother of Jesse Sarey
We need community to turn out, turn up and be present during the murder trial.
WE WILL NOT REST UNTIL JESSE SAREY MURDER HAS ACCOUNTABILITY!
Our justice will be justice for Brian Scaman and Isaiah Obet. As well as set a precedent for other impacted families of police violence that resulted in the death of love ones.
This is no time to turn a blind eye...STAND UP!!!
Auburn Officer Jeff Nelson has been indicted for taking the life of Jesse Sarey -- the first police murder trial in Washington State in 30 years.

2023.06.09 21:49 Belladea213 Decorating Public School Classrooms

This was my 2nd year teaching in an urban high school, where decorating comes out of your own pocket.
We share rooms with other teachers throughout the day, and some are not teaching nearly the same subject as us. (I teach criminal justice & my room-mate taught a foreign language and math). I was given that room after being moved between 4 rooms in November.
Admin told us that next year they are planning on giving us our own classrooms, but they can't guarantee it for everyone.
I keep seeing tiktoks for decorating classrooms for a more welcoming vibe, which I'd love to do over the dim lights and puke colored walls. My concern is, is it worth it? I know it is for the students, and hoping they'd appreciate it. It would also make me happier & there are ways to do it on a budget. Some classrooms are decorated - but by veteran teachers who haven't moved rooms in over 10 years.
What do you guys think?

2023.06.09 21:47 AntonBrakhage States are beginning to remove statutes of limitations for survivors of child sexual abuse to sue.

https://apnews.com/article/church-clergy-abuse-statute-limitations-835c56dac34d3d56eabdb3b4d70404a4
"PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Ann Allen loved going to church and the after-school social group led by a dynamic priest back in the 1960s.
The giggling fun with friends always ended with a game of hide and seek. Each week, the Rev. Lawrence Sabatino chose one girl to hide with him. Allen said when it was her turn, she was sexually assaulted, at age 7, in the recesses of St. Peter's Catholic Church.
"I don't remember how I got out of that cellar and I don't think I ever will. But I remember it like it's yesterday. I remember the smells. The sounds. I remember what he said, and what he did," she said.
Allen, 64, is one of more than two dozen people who have sued the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland, Maine, over the past year, seeking delayed justice since lawmakers allowed lawsuits for abuse that happened long ago and can't be pursued in criminal courts either because of time limits or evidence diminishing over time.
More survivors are pursuing cases as states increasingly consider repealing time limits for child sex crime lawsuits. Vermont was the first state to remove the limits in 2019, followed by Maine in 2021 and Maryland this year.
Michigan, Rhode Island and Massachusetts are poised to take action before their legislative sessions end.
"The momentum is irreversible," said Marci Hamilton, CEO of CHILD USA, a think tank aiming to prevent child abuse and neglect.
In April, Maryland lifted time limits on child sexual abuse lawsuits against institutions less than a week after the attorney general detailed decades of abuse of more than 600 children by over 150 priests associated with the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
Other states, meanwhile, have briefly removed the statute of limitations on lawsuits for childhood abuse. More than 10,000 lawsuits were filed when New York set aside time limits for two years.
Across the country, those lawsuits have targeted churches, summer camps, scout groups and other institutions accused of enabling pedophiles or turning a blind eye to wrongdoing.
More states eliminating the limits would help achieve justice and prevention, according to advocates who say survivors tend to keep the trauma to themselves, backed by new research suggesting survivors typically come forward in their 50s.
"More and more people come forward as they realize that they're not alone," said Michael Bigos, one of Allen's attorneys, whose law firm has brought 25 lawsuits since last June and is evaluating more than 100 additional potential cases, including about 65 targeting the Portland diocese.
In his law offices, Allen looked at a photo of herself at her first communion at St. Peter's, which serves what was once Portland's Little Italy neighborhood and hosts a popular street party each summer.
The photo was taken after the assault. Her joy and exuberance are gone. "When I look at it, I see a pretty damaged child," she said.
Sabatino quickly became part of the fabric of St. Peter's when he arrived in 1958 after leaving another church where parents reported to police that he had sexually abused their 6-year-old daughter. The priest was warned by the Diocese of Portland not to engage with children or play games, but was soon doing both.
Parishioners, including Ann Allen's family, invited him into their homes. He visited her family's beach house.
Allen thought she was lucky when she was selected to hide with him. But the abuse became a dark secret she carried for decades.
She never considered telling her parents. Allen said she didn't think anyone would believe her.
As a school principal in California, Allen was protective of children, especially those who reported abuse. She would try to help them and say the right things - things she wished had been done for her. Then, she went home to "curl up in a ball," she said.
But her secret came bubbling back when she returned to Maine and had to confront her past, she said.
Robert Dupuis tells a similar story.
He was 12 years old in 1961 when he was abused by the Rev. John Curran in Old Town, a riverside city in Maine. Decades later, he sought help from Alcoholic's Anonymous when his marriage was in jeopardy. He acknowledge the abuse in group therapy, at around age 55, and the revelation changed his life.
"It healed me and it freed me from holding back," the 74-year-old said.
His marriage and friendships have improved, he said. Now, he encourages others who have been abused to come forward.
Most of Maine's newly filed civil lawsuits target the Diocese of Portland, accusing leaders of ignoring accusations against priests like Sabatino and Curran, or simply moving them to new parishes, allowing the abuse to continue.
Diocese officials concluded that allegations against Sabatino and Curran were credible. Both have long since died.
Maine removed its time limits in 200o to sue over childhood sexual abuse, but not retroactively, leaving survivors without recourse for older cases. Changes in 2021 allowed previously expired civil claims. The Legislature also is considering easing the statute of limitations on criminal charges for sexual assaults of children.
The Portland diocese contends survivors had ample time to sue and it's unconstitutional to open the door to new litigation, which could lead to requests for damages of "tens of millions of dollars."
A judge rejected the arguments. The diocese has appealed to the state Supreme Court. An attorney and spokesperson for the dioceses both declined comment.
For Patricia Butkowski, it was 1958 when her family alerted police that she said Sabatino assaulted her at a parish in Lewiston. After the diocese transferred him to Portland, Allen and others became victims.
"I'm now at 70 feeling emotions and allowing myself to feel emotions that I never knew I had. Anger is at the top of it. I'm like a volcano spewing and there's just so many emotions, and anger at the church," she said.
Butkowski, who now lives in Oklahoma City, wants the church to apologize and acknowledge the wrongs done to her and others so she can "hopefully regain some sort of faith before I die," she said.
"What was done to me by the priest damaged my soul," she said. "I don't have a soul anymore. It's broken."

2023.06.09 21:37 RevolutionaryJob1266 What do you think of this SCP made by Bing

Item #: SCP-YYYY
Object Class: Neutralized
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-YYYY is currently stored in a standard anomalous item locker at Site-12. No further containment procedures are necessary, as SCP-YYYY has been rendered inert.
Description: SCP-YYYY is a Colt Single Action Army revolver, manufactured in 1899. SCP-YYYY has the words "The Last Stand" engraved on the barrel, and exhibits signs of extensive usage and deterioration.
SCP-YYYY's anomalous property manifested on 18/11/1899, when it was utilized by its original owner, John "Black Jack" Ketchum, a wanted criminal and gunslinger in the American Old West. On that date, Ketchum and his associates were pursued by a coalition of bounty hunters, Pinkerton agents, and law enforcement officers to the town of Fort Griffin, Texas. A violent confrontation ensued, during which Ketchum discharged SCP-YYYY at one of his adversaries, resulting in his immediate termination. However, upon the ejection of the bullet from the chamber, SCP-YYYY activated a temporal anomaly that affected the entire town and its inhabitants.
The temporal anomaly consisted of a stable time loop with a duration of approximately 15 minutes, starting from the moment of SCP-YYYY's discharge and ending with the termination of Ketchum by a gunshot wound to the cranium. During this period, all events and actions within the town repeated themselves identically, with no variation or deviation. The inhabitants of the town were unaware of the anomaly, and experienced each iteration as if it was the first occurrence. The anomaly was localized to the town and its immediate surroundings, and was not detectable from outside.
The time loop persisted for 120 years, until it was discovered by the Foundation in 2019. A team of Foundation agents infiltrated the town under the guise of tourists, and managed to locate and secure SCP-YYYY. Upon removing SCP-YYYY from the town, the anomaly ceased, and the town resumed normal temporal flow. The inhabitants of the town were administered Class-B amnestics and given a cover story of a historical reenactment that resulted in several casualties. SCP-YYYY was transported to Site-12 for further analysis.
SCP-YYYY was found to be inactive and non-anomalous after its removal from the town. No traces of temporal energy or other anomalies were detected on or around it. It is hypothesized that SCP-YYYY's anomaly was a one-time event, triggered by a specific combination of factors that are unlikely to be replicated. The exact nature and origin of SCP-YYYY's anomaly remain unknown.
Addendum YYYY-1: Note Recovered from Ketchum's Body
During the recovery of SCP-YYYY, a note was found in Ketchum's pocket. The note was written on a piece of paper torn from a journal, and appeared to be a personal confession by Ketchum. The note read as follows:
I don't know how long I have left to live. Maybe minutes, maybe seconds. But I have to write this down before I go. I have to tell someone the truth about me and this damn gun.
I wasn't always an outlaw. I used to be a decent man, with a wife and a son. We lived on a small ranch in Kansas, and we were happy. But then they came. The railroad men. They wanted our land for their tracks, and they didn't care about us or our rights. They offered us a pittance for our home, and when we refused, they sent their thugs to burn it down.
They killed my wife and my son in front of me. They left me for dead in the ashes. But I survived. And I swore revenge.
I tracked them down one by one, killing them with this gun. This gun that I found in an old pawn shop in Dodge City. This gun that had a strange inscription on it: "The Last Stand". This gun that felt like it had a mind of its own.
I didn't know what it meant at first. But then I realized. This gun was cursed. It gave me the power to kill anyone I wanted, but it also doomed me to die by its bullet.
Every time I pulled the trigger, I felt a surge of pain in my chest. Every time I killed someone, I felt my life slipping away. Every time I looked at this gun, I saw my own death staring back at me.
But I couldn't stop. I was obsessed with vengeance. I didn't care about anything else. Not even myself.
And now here I am. Cornered in this godforsaken town by a bunch of bounty hunters, Pinkertons, and lawmen. They want me dead or alive, but they don't know the truth. They don't know that I'm already dead.
I have one bullet left in this gun. One bullet that will end my life and my curse. One bullet that will be my last stand.
I don't regret what I did. I don't ask for forgiveness. I don't expect anyone to understand.
I just hope that someone will find this note and remember me.
Remember me as a man who loved his family.
Remember me as a man who fought for justice.
Remember me as a man who made his last stand.
John "Black Jack" Ketchum
Addendum YYYY-2: Analysis of SCP-YYYY's Bullet
The bullet that was fired by SCP-YYYY and caused the temporal anomaly was recovered by the Foundation agents during the investigation of the town. The bullet was found embedded in the skull of Ketchum's adversary, who was identified as James "Jim" Miller, a Pinkerton agent hired to capture Ketchum.
The bullet was subjected to various tests and scans, and was found to be anomalous in several ways. The bullet was composed of an unknown metal alloy that was resistant to heat, corrosion, and deformation. The bullet also emitted a faint temporal radiation that matched the signature of SCP-YYYY's anomaly. The bullet appeared to be the source and catalyst of the anomaly, as it created a temporal feedback loop between itself and SCP-YYYY.
The bullet was also found to have a unique property: it was able to penetrate any material or obstacle without losing any velocity or kinetic energy. The bullet was able to pierce through walls, doors, windows, furniture, and even human bodies with ease. The bullet left no traces of impact or damage on any of the surfaces it passed through, except for its final target: Miller's skull.
It is theorized that the bullet's property was related to SCP-YYYY's curse, as it ensured that the bullet would always reach its intended victim, regardless of any interference or protection. It is also possible that the bullet's property was a side effect of the temporal anomaly, as it ignored the normal laws of physics and causality.
The bullet was designated as SCP-YYYY-1 and placed in a separate containment locker at Site-12 for further study.
Addendum YYYY-3: Interview with ████████
During the administration of amnestics to the inhabitants of the town, one of them displayed an unusual reaction. The individual, identified as ████████, a local shopkeeper and witness of the shootout, claimed to have memories of the time loop and SCP-YYYY. The individual was interviewed by Agent ██████ before being given a higher dose of amnestics. The transcript of the interview is as follows:

Agent ██████: Hello, ████████. I'm Agent ██████, and I'm here to ask you some questions about what happened today.
████████: What happened today? You mean what happened over and over again for 120 years?
Agent ██████: What do you mean by that?
████████: Don't play dumb with me. You know what I mean. The time loop. The shootout. The gun.
Agent ██████: How do you know about those things?
████████: Because I remember them. All of them. Every single loop.
Agent ██████: How is that possible?
████████: I don't know. Maybe I'm special. Maybe I'm cursed. Maybe it's because I saw it happen.
Agent ██████: Saw what happen?
████████: The gun. The gun that started it all. The gun that killed him.
Agent ██████: Who are you talking about?
████████: Him. John "Black Jack" Ketchum. The outlaw. The gunslinger. The man who made his last stand.

Note: After the interview, ████████ was given a Class-C amnestic and released from custody. No further anomalous effects were observed in him or any other inhabitants of the town. It is unclear how ████████ was able to retain his memories of the time loop, or why he was the only one affected by this phenomenon. Further research is recommended to determine the cause and extent of this anomaly.

2023.06.09 21:25 ekincheng Luffy’s mom was a pirate [serious]

Im really curious about Luffy’s mom and some braistorming led me to that answer you see in the topic.
So when i look at my grandparents, i see parts of my character in them. Same goes with my parents. It is like im a mixture of all of them, im sure you can all agree with that.
What if we apply this logic to one piece?
If you look at Dragon, although he got his will and dedication from Garp, they are pretty different from each other. Dragon is calm and collected, more serious than Garp. He wants peace whereas Garp is a pirate beating machine. This makes me think that Dragon’s mom was an emotional and a smart woman. She would babysit Garp and scold him when he got in trouble lmao. Luffy got his nonchalance from Garp obviously but they are still different.
This way of thinking led me to the question, which character traits has Luffy got that Dragon and Garp dont?
And i came up with two things,
1.Luffy has the soul of a punk: Garp is a man of justice, he is wild but still works under other people. He doesnt seem to care being a hero while Luffy actively hates it. Dragon is different from them, he likes to plan things. I dont think he would like to harm innocent marines while luffy just doesnt give a single fuck. He doesnt mind being a criminal and he is very much away from the politics.
  1. Luffy is much more adventurous: Again, Garp works for an organization, he has a duty. He was sent to missions. Can you imagine Luffy in the navy? We saw a preview of tht in G5 filler arc lol. Dragon is more interested in society, he gets things done.
So these differences made me think Luffy’s mom was an adventurous punk. Does it sound familiar? Yeah these traits scream PIRATE to me.
What do you think?

2023.06.09 21:17 Gist_it The judge assigned to oversee Trump's criminal case was appointed by Trump himself

U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, appointed by Trump in 2020, has been assigned to oversee the former president's criminal case.
Case background: The case stems from Donald Trump's indictment, and Judge Cannon has previously ruled in favor of Trump's request to appoint a special master to review documents seized by the FBI from Mar-a-Lago. * This ruling temporarily stopped federal prosecutors from continuing their investigation into the documents. * The Justice Department pushed back, arguing that it would "significantly harm important governmental interests, including national security interests."
Key details: Judge Cannon also ruled to unseal a list of items the FBI seized from Trump's home, and if Trump is convicted and Cannon remains on the case, she would be responsible for determining his sentence. * The attorneys working with Trump on the case, Jim Trusty and John Rowley, resigned from representing him Friday morning following his indictment by a federal grand jury.
