Here are 3 major differences between New Age and Spirituality
1) New Age relies on spiritual “tools”, spirituality relies only on mind and heart
Spirituality has been practiced for tens of thousands of years, literally. Since the formation of language, man has been inspired to pursue the transformation of consciousness and connect with the divine. It is only very recently that humans started using external tools for spiritual progression. If you think back to some of the greatest teachers, mystics, and gurus of our history, how many of them used tarot cards? Runes? Astrology charts? Crystals?
All of them taught reflection, repentance, surrender, meditation, love, compassion, and grace. All of the things you need are already inside you. Spirituality teaches us to look deep inside ourselves for answers to our questions, whereas New Ageism teaches us to reach outside of ourselves for answers.
A huge difference between spirituality and the New Age community is the means by which people come to reach higher understandings. Spirituality is self-reliant. New Ageism is tool-reliant. While there is nothing wrong with using spiritual tools, people can get into the habit of using them as a sort of vibrational crutch instead of going inside themselves for answers.
2) New Age is unscientific, spirituality is neutral
Let’s be honest. There is nothing scientific about Kundalini, chakras, or crystal healing. Is there any scientific evidence for the reality of these things? How about fortune telling, quantum healing, chi energy, prana, light-body activation, astrology, channeling, or dowsing? The list goes on and on.
I have written many articles on evidence for the existence of the soul, reincarnation, and the afterlife. There is good evidence out there for these things, and absolutely none for any of the things mentioned above. Don’t get me wrong, just because something lacks scientific evidence does not mean it doesn’t exist. There are things I personally believe in without there being any scientific evidence. It doesn’t mean it’s false, it simply means it’s not scientific.
But the problem begins when people start identifying with their knowledge-base as if their beliefs define their spirituality. People who practice spirituality may also believe in these concepts, but these concepts are just accessories to their spiritual practice. Many people who practice spirituality don’t believe in any of these things, and once again, all of the great mystics, gurus, and teachers never mentioned anything about them. Why is that?
New Ageism is inherently unscientific, whereas spirituality is inherently agnostic.
3) New Age is belief-based, spirituality is experience-based
New Ageism is typically belief-based, whereas spirituality is strictly an experience-based pursuit. Spirituality does not take any faith, because all you have to do is refer to your own personal experiences and revelations. All great spiritual teachers will tell you “Don’t believe me, look and discover it for yourself.” They tell you where to look, but they don’t tell you what to find.
New Age teachers tell you how to look, where to look, what you will find, and how to interpret what you find. For example, let’s say someone is trying to deal with past traumas. The New Age teacher may tell them they are carrying the wounds of their ancestors in their DNA, and they need to do faith-healing DNA reprogramming for Karmic relief in their root chakra. What does this even mean?
The spiritual teacher will tell them something more along the lines of get still, revisit those past experiences in your mind, and see what emotions and thoughts arise. Watch without judgment and without interest so that you can be in full acceptance of the past and can release resistance towards it to prevent further suffering.
Making the distinction
One relies on what you believe in your thoughts, the other relies only on your heart and your relationship to your thoughts. It has been said that religion is believing in the experiences of others, and spirituality is having your own experience. One is learned, and one is confirmed through experience.
New Ageism is unnatural to you. It is about collecting ideas and beliefs and defining yourself by them. Spirituality is about removing everything that is unnatural to you and returning to your true self.
Although the New Age movement has added a lot of positive value to people’s lives, some of it is just jargon. Spirituality has kind of gotten a bad name over the last decade due to the rise of the New Age movement, and it’s time to finally make the distinction between the two.
If this article offends you, ask yourself this. Why? Only a thought can be offended by a thought, and an idea can only offend you if you gain your sense of identity from an idea it conflicts with. What would happen if we lived in a world full of people who didn’t get their sense of identity and value from mere ideas? This is the real Awakening that needs to take place.

2023.05.31 04:45 opsadmin Almost 3 year old refuses to sleep alone at night. Claims “dark is coming”
We have 3 lights on and it’s still not enough. We tried one, tried two- and now we added a brighter lamp. She’s screaming and crying, hyperventilating and pounding against the door. First night we let her sleep in our room. She kicked us all night so she needs to sleep in her room. She’s been screaming for 3 hours now with no end in sight. We tried door open and door closed, door open with a baby gate, hallway light on hallway light off- she’s still hysterical. What am I supposed to do? She’s old enough to open the door and come into our room. None of our rooms lock (original doors with none of the skeleton keys).
What do we do now?

Imagine how powerful AI will be in a few years.
There are a few risks to the survival of humanity, that I don’t see talked about often enough. Normally, I like the idea of open source, technology, technology, where everybody can see how it’s made, and can make sure that it’s fair, for example, I like the idea of Twitter being open source or social media being open source. For the first time ever I’m now against that. Here’s why:
Imagine what AI in 5+ years might be capable of. Can it code? It already can and will get better, fast.
Risk #1: If some guy in his basement can have access to more powerful AI, that doesn’t have regulations or laws around it, he could have it hack the systems to turn off the coolers inside food storage areas and effectively throw society into a frenzy due to a lack of food. He could have it shut down gas stations and grocery stores across the country if he’s crazy enough. You could basically have it write a code that dismantled the systems we live by.
Risk #2: He could probably also have a build a chemical compound or give him instructions on how to do so that is very dangerous to humanity (maybe a capability more than 5 years off, but we see hints of this today).
Risk #3: what if this AI is capable of doing tasks on a website, )which will be coming soon), you could have it manipulate stock markets, and dismantle the financial system, which will not be good for any human despite what Reddit seems to think.
Risk #4: what if you could have AI post on social media, which would be incredibly easy to achieve, you could have it flood forums with social manipulation and propaganda to manipulate society into thinking dangerous things.
I feel like a broken record, but honestly, I don’t think we should give every human with the internet access to a tool this powerful.
In fact, I’m not even sure how you prevent it with technology as it currently is, as weird as this sounds, I think you need a powerful AI tool, that somehow actively prevents other AI tools from being accessible to everyday people. This main AI would be regulated with strict laws decided by democratic processes and could still likely provide society with the benefits that AI will bring, and still help us all individually, just with controlled measures.

2023.05.31 04:44 vivemelior Are new construction proposed floor plans flexible in design? Like if you like the builder's style, can you ask if they can design the house with one less bedroom?
This might be a dumb question.. I have a very specific style I'd like that I will never find with the new cookie cutter dystopian homes being built everywhere. I am finding new construction custom homes that match my style, but they are like 3-4br, 2500+ sq ft. I only need 2 br, and like 1500 sq ft. If I see a listing that says "new construction, proposed floor plan" and it has the model photos and the floor plans attached, is that basically the thing they are going to build there, or can you say like "Hey I really like the style of this house, do you have a smaller floor plan available?"
Does it depend on the builder? I'm also not sure if my "style" is an interior design thing or an architecture thing. I really like exposed brick, tall floor to ceiling windows, and wood and metal structures. I guess it's like a cross between mid century modern and rustic. When I see things like that in photos, is that the builder's doing, or is that something you can ask to be done even in cookie cutter dystopian houses?

My wife (39F, HL) and I (35M, LL) have been married for almost 6 years (together total 8) and have 3 children. We've had severely unhealthy ups and downs but have been able to put set aside disagreements in the past to try to save our marriage together. We argued great deal during our first few years, thrown together as we were by an accidental pregnancy and limited opportunity to develop a strong relationship beforehand. I admit that I was cruel at times: criticizing her lack of experience with children, her seeming lack of maternal instincts, and my negative perception of her lifestyle, being a chronically sedentary smoker and craft beer aficionado. For context: I used to be HL throughout my early to mid 20s. I exercised daily(2+hrs/day), had regular checkups, and tried to eat healthy despite being a borderline drunk at times. I did the sordid, toxicly masculine bs of chasing tail at bars, maintained a miserably on-and-off relationship throughout my college years, and mistook a group of drunks from college to be the best family anyone could ask for. To no surprise, my “support system” didn’t help the process of my settling into family life, ghosting me the second I wasn't available to go out anymore or constantly bend to their schedules.
For years my wife has communicated that she hates how much her high pressure career has caused her to miss out on time with the children and desperately wanted to live a life where she'd be able to work less and spend more time with them. I did what any fool would do and focused tightly on advancing my high demand/high turnover career for years while neglecting time I should have been using to build a strong, healthy partnership with her and a kind, patient relationship with my children. Each time I pulled back from that to recommit myself to them, I let my career slide to the back burner for the children and/or wife, but the damage was already inflicted.
Years passed and we pressed on, overcoming arguments, dry spells, and repeated job changes. I was better at times, but never truly turned the corner and became the man I'd hoped I'd be, nor the husband she deserved. I did what I thought was *correct* for years and have only been met with failure after failure.
I encouraged my wife to sell our house (her's prior to our marriage) because it seemed prudent given the perceived threat of COVID, rising crime statistics (our house had been vandalized multiple times), skyrocketing population density, and costs associated with raising a family in the city.
I moved us back to my hometown because I'd hoped we'd have more support from our families and an easier time handling the kids. What we got in return for our efforts was beyond disappointing - lots of promises of assistance and zero follow-through. Add the drama associated with renting a rapidly deteriorating house during lockdown, I was compelled not waste any more time renting in TX, nor the opportunity to buy another house at the extremely low interest rates available at the time.
If all of that wasn’t bad enough rolling into lockdown, my biggest mistake has been that I moved us to New England. I was certain that the reports of better schools, extremely low crime rates, low population density, and possibility of raising the kids in a mild, temperate climate would save my family, but FML was I wrong.
Flash forward 3 years: My long-standing reliance upon contract work has betrayed me as jobs in my field have dried up and nothing else has been available outside of the most menial of jobs at minimum wages. Don’t get me wrong: I'm not above getting my hands dirty but these options have not been a good fit outside of removing my personal presence from the home and paying for the fuel to commute but nothing more.
For years, she's asked me to get therapy for my personal problems (temperament, stress, depression) while also decrying the practice as being generally pointless.
She wanted me to do anything aside from being a stay-at-home-parent while I looked for another suitable job at the same or higher rate than I previously had.
After 6 months of bickering during my unemployment, my wife now reviles the very thought of me. She’s aiming to punish me for years of emotional and sexual neglect, becoming increasingly cruel in random interactions (calling me queer or gay for a tanking libido, insulting me for losing my job, and generally trying to push me away as violently as possible)
At this point i have to come to grips that I have no money to build a new household, no personal vehicle anymore to transport my kids, and no means to defend myself in the looming legal battle with her over the fate of our shared property and children. I know she will take everything and I feel powerless to hold my ground.
The tragedy is that I desperately want to save my family because, deep down, I love my wife – she’s incredibly intelligent, successful, funny, and beautiful. I love our amazing children feel nothing but an immense crushing sensation anytime I imagine my life without them. Any thoughts?

2023.05.31 04:44 TheContemptInsomniac What I found in the woods by I-90 in West New York still gives me nightmares.
Kelly wanted to drive that evening. We went to a music festival in Pittsburgh and were well on our way back to Buffalo. After we were around Westfield, New York Kelly began to act differently. When we drove the route two days earlier nothing came up, but she just seemed on edge all the sudden.
“Is there anything on your mind?” I asked her.
She looked at me and peaked a grin then responded, “Paul, it’s nothing, you don’t want to hear it.”
“Come on! Tell Me.” I shot back.
“My parents would drive my sister and I on this highway everytime we went to see my Grandparents.”
“So?” I interrupted her.
With a face that said she was being more serious, she looked at me. Then she looked back to the road and said, “My dad was driving us home one night back when I was fourteen. He told us something that I’m just remembering.””
There was a pause of silence as Kelly began to reveal more. “My dad told us that the local Erie tribe believed in an ‘evil spirit’ that would roam the woods by these roads. Also specifically he said to never stop around here.”
Afterwards I turned on the radio which made Kelly more calm. Our conversation then started to drift to Kurt Cobain as our favorite Nirvana song “Come As You Are” started playing. The song put us in a good mood. Then I started looking out the window towards the woods to the right of us. A sensation that there was something staring at us began to grow. That’s when I heard Kelly let out a whimper. Quickly I looked at her. She pointed out the highway closed up ahead with a detour. This was odd as.the highway was open just a few days earlier. Kelly also mentioned that her car was low on gas, but she was thinking about whether she’d be able to make it to the next town.
Her statement startled me and I asked if she seriously believed the story her dad told her. This offended her. After I explained if we got stuck with no gas we’d be more vulnerable, Kelly agreed to go to town.
We were driving through a small town in a mostly rural area. There were many fields and woods, although it soon became clear we were no closer to a gas station. Kelly began to get anxious. The low gas light came on, the idea that we’d have to pull over was becoming a reality.
An argument began between the two of us. Things were not going well. We had driven for some time while arguing before realizing we were now lost on some backroad. Soon dense trees surrounded us on both sides, and then we saw it, there was something on the road. We stopped. Kelly turned on the bright lights of the car and we saw what looked like a body in the middle of the road. We sat there for a few seconds just processing what was happening. Kelly locked the car before I could mutter anything.
Unlocking the car was my first instinct. In a panicked voice Kelly said, “What do you think you’re doing?”
“I’m responding to the situation,” I declared as I got out of the car. Kelly kept her brights on as I approached what was in the road. Upon closer inspection it became clear it wasn’t a human body. It was a decapitated pig carcass in what looked like white silk clothing. The feeling that things were extremely messed up washed over me. Then I heard what sounded like a loud buzzing. Coming from the woods about a hundred feet away.
Even though Kelly began to honk her car’s horn I fell into a trance from the buzzing. Whatever was creating the sound began to get closer, before a slender black silhouette with a wingspan of many feet began to fly towards me. Whatever this was almost managed to reach me, but not before Kelly hit it with the car. The sound of the thump that the car made with the silhouette's torso broke my trance. Kelly yelled to get in the car, I was somewhat dazed, but I still responded to her command.
Several cracks ran through the windshield of the car and there was obvious damage to the bumper. We only had a few more miles worth of gas, but we drove anyway. The woods extended some ways, but eventually we came across a large soybean field and we concluded there must be a house nearby. The car began to make sounds and was shaking. We’d have to leave our car if we wanted to continue further.
It was silent between us, until we came to a complete stop and the engine was off.
“Do you think it’s still behind us?” I gravely asked.
“I don’t know, but it’s probably not safe to sit here.” Kelly said as she turned on the hazard lights. She continued, “If we leave this on it’ll draw attention to the car.”
We had some basic equipment in the back that I grabbed. This included a flashlight, as well as a backpack containing such items as a first aid kit and some fire starting supplies I had leftover from a camping trip. We started walking down the road quickly. When we heard the buzzing, that walk turned into a run. It was bright enough from the moon that we were able to spot a black silhouette hovering above the treeline a long distance away. Both of us were fairly quick on our feet and the field was about to end, but still there was no house in sight. The silhouette had just reached the car and was beginning to come towards us.
“We’re gonna have to run through the field.” Kelly confessed what we both knew. We made a sharp turn into the soybean farm and hunched over to conceal ourselves. Kelly was in front as I kept checking behind us. The field was quite wide and it felt like I was running for a long time. At some point we heard the buzzing again.
Subsequently Kelly let out a hopeful whisper, “There’s a house nearby!” I looked to see a modern farmhouse just up ahead.The buzzing was getting louder however. By the time we made it to the front door, we started pounding and screaming our lungs out for help. A shadow of what looked like a massive bat circled us on the ground. That’s when a light on the top floor finally turned on. Waiting around wasn’t an option however, so we ran to the back yard underneath a trailer.
Lying there seemed to be our only option. While underneath I wanted to tell Kelly that I was sorry for not listening to her, but I was silent for our safety. The entity touched onto the ground by our trailer, we could see the sophisticated pattern on its wings. It had two feather-like extrusions from its face, and between them a thin trunk-like organ that curled up. The buzzing was loud enough that we had to cup our ears. Just as the winged entity began to walk towards us we saw the flash and heard the first gunshot. This led the entity to fly away.
For a few moments we waited until the buzzing was gone completely. That’s when we heard a warm older voice, “The both of you should come inside before it comes back.”
We got up and followed the man into his back door which led directly to his kitchen. My shirt had some residue on it, and it was sticky. The man hastily got me a new shirt. Once we got seated I could now more clearly see the white beard and hair that the man had. He seemed somewhat weathered. If he were a little bigger he could pass off as Santa, but he was too thin for that.
He said if anyone wanted coffee he was gonna make some. He put his rifle against the wall. He was extremely calm considering the situation. That’s when he walked to the phone and called the sheriff. We explained to the man about our car. Through the conversation it was clear the man was named Sameul and he was the owner of the soybean field. Then we heard something we’d never heard before, “Yeah Chuck you wouldn’t believe it, the EnCropia almost got them.”
After Sameul hung up the phone I asked him, “‘EnCropia,’ is that what that thing is called?”
“Unfortunately yes, it’s been here for generations, it’s most of the reason we can’t have livestock in these parts.” He finished brewing the coffee and began pouring himself a glass. He quickly gestured if we wanted a cup. Kelly wanted some so I accepted as well. He then continued, “It’s odd that it’s interacting with people again. I’m assuming you two were stopped in the middle of the street.”
“Yeah, how’d you know? We-” Kelly began to say but was cut off.
“That’s what it does, it tries to play tricks on you,” he stated.
Sameul introduced us to his wife Matilda, she seemed pleasant, and took a sincere tone when talking to us about our experience. We began talking about how university professors used to visit their town and talk to them about the sightings. Samuel said he talked to one professor who told him the official name they had for the entity. He continued to talk about how nothing was done. He was mid sentence about to reveal more details when the power went out. It happened suddenly and scared us.
What made matters worse was that one of the windows in the other room got broken by a stone. Samuel grabbed his rifle and he instructed Matilda to grab hers. In the dark we could hear the buzzing. Samuel walked to the broken window and began to fire his gun. Matilda instructed us to follow her outside. There was a building that was made of cement. The buzzing persisted as we waited there, with more shots being fired we hunkered down.
Cold is how it felt at first, again it was dark, but Matilda had her gun pointed at the door. We began to hear the screaming, it was Sameul. He did not sound well. The buzzing sounded like it was getting closer. We could see out one window, when we thought it was over we saw the lights and heard the sirens.
Chuck had called in reinforcements. When this became clear the buzzing faded away. We were in the middle of the lawn. Some officers told Matilda to come with them, while Chuck had us follow him to his car. While we followed Chuck we heard shrieks from Matilda. I still had the backpack on, as I never took it off. Chuck told us they found the car and that he was gonna take us back to the station with him for our safety.
Driving in what seemed like a safe vehicle was the only thing comforting about the situation.
“EnCropia’s is intelligent. You two should have just followed the detour.” He sternly announced.
“The highway was closed-.” I tried to say.
“-Yeah, guess what caused that.” Chuck cut me off.
Kelly wanted to know what happened to Sameul by asking. Before Chuck could respond however, he slammed on the breaks. The EnCropia was in the middle of the road. He prepared his weapon, the entity flew over and picked up the front of the car with its massive human-like appendages, while its tentacle licked the windshield. Its buzzing was almost ear damagingly loud. Chuck tried to slam on the acceleration, but we were held in place. Chuck called in for backup, but the EnCropia was very strong and managed to flip completely over.
Unfortunately I was in the back and my door didn’t open from the inside. However Kelly managed to crawl out of her door. Chuck was dazed or even possibly unconscious. Kelly then got up and tried to open my door. In this process the The EnCropia grabbed her.
“Come for me!” Kelly screamed over the buzzing. I then watched the entity fly off with her as the buzzing faded. Suddenly I heard Chuck. He sounded somewhat concussed. It wouldn’t take long for more officers to arrive.
Ambulances were called for the both of us, I didn’t need to go to the hospital, however Chuck wasn’t as lucky. I drove with a captain on the force. We drove a few miles more. That’s when I saw it. Not too far a large silhouette flew into the woods. I told Chuck’s second in command I was going to vomit. He asked if it could wait. I told him it could not wait. He stopped the car on the side of the road. As soon as both of my feet were on the pavement I broke into a full sprint. I was quick, and although the trees were thin and spaced out, it was dark enough that I disappeared. I still had my back pack which had a flashlight. I turned it on after about a mile.
The woods were becoming more dense. Soon it became clear I was lost. I now didn’t know which direction to go. I debated retracing my steps, but that’s when I saw it, it was an entrance to a cave underneath a large tree. I walked towards the entrance to it with my flashlight. I wasn’t sure how to interpret what I saw at first. It was slimy, football shaped shapes that moved.
As I explored the cave further I discovered a host of equipment made from trash and what looked like other loose wood. These looked like they assisted in turning the sticky residue from the massive larvae into silk. And that silk into clothing. That’s when I heard the whisper, “Paul, is that you?”
It was Kelly, she was beneath some of the larvae. I managed to pull her out. She then told Sameul was also there. He was unconscious, but we managed to drag him out as well. Kelly explained to me that the larvae belonged to the EnCropia. We dragged Sameul some distance from the cave, before I made the decision to go in with lighter fluid and set the larvae ablaze. When I got done pouring all the fluid however we could hear the buzzing once again. The entity was nearby. Kelly began to scream after, but I decided to light the fluid regardless.
Larvae began to cook from the flames. This angered the entity and it flew into the cave. Kelly and I dragged Samuel out in the opposite direction. Luckily after a little bit of time we saw flashlights. They had already put together a search party. Samuel was in rough shape and was sent to the hospital, but Kelly was physically fine, but emotionally not as much.
At the police station we were finally safe. We were told Sameul and Chuck were stable. By this point the sun was starting to rise. A few hours passed until some federal agents interviewed us. They wanted to know everything. Kelly’s mom came and picked us up. It was silent on the car ride home. After we arrived back Kelly and I talked and agreed to part ways.
About two decades have passed since this occurred. I’m married now to a different woman, and I have children. I haven’t had contact with Kelly since. I still have nightmares about what I saw and what I experienced. Now I always warn my kids about that part of I-90.

“Come on! Tell Me.” I shot back.
“My parents would drive my sister and I on this highway everytime we went to see my Grandparents.”
“So?” I interrupted her.
With a face that said she was being more serious, she looked at me. Then she looked back to the road and said, “My dad was driving us home one night back when I was fourteen. He told us something that I’m just remembering.””
There was a pause of silence as Kelly began to reveal more. “My dad told us that the local Erie tribe believed in an ‘evil spirit’ that would roam the woods by these roads. Also specifically he said to never stop around here.”
Afterwards I turned on the radio which made Kelly more calm. Our conversation then started to drift to Kurt Cobain as our favorite Nirvana song “Come As You Are” started playing. The song put us in a good mood. Then I started looking out the window towards the woods to the right of us. A sensation that there was something staring at us began to grow. That’s when I heard Kelly let out a whimper. Quickly I looked at her. She pointed out the highway closed up ahead with a detour. This was odd as.the highway was open just a few days earlier. Kelly also mentioned that her car was low on gas, but she was thinking about whether she’d be able to make it to the next town.
Her statement startled me and I asked if she seriously believed the story her dad told her. This offended her. After I explained if we got stuck with no gas we’d be more vulnerable, Kelly agreed to go to town.
We were driving through a small town in a mostly rural area. There were many fields and woods, although it soon became clear we were no closer to a gas station. Kelly began to get anxious. The low gas light came on, the idea that we’d have to pull over was becoming a reality.
An argument began between the two of us. Things were not going well. We had driven for some time while arguing before realizing we were now lost on some backroad. Soon dense trees surrounded us on both sides, and then we saw it, there was something on the road. We stopped. Kelly turned on the bright lights of the car and we saw what looked like a body in the middle of the road. We sat there for a few seconds just processing what was happening. Kelly locked the car before I could mutter anything.
Unlocking the car was my first instinct. In a panicked voice Kelly said, “What do you think you’re doing?”
“I’m responding to the situation,” I declared as I got out of the car. Kelly kept her brights on as I approached what was in the road. Upon closer inspection it became clear it wasn’t a human body. It was a decapitated pig carcass in what looked like white silk clothing. The feeling that things were extremely messed up washed over me. Then I heard what sounded like a loud buzzing. Coming from the woods about a hundred feet away.
Even though Kelly began to honk her car’s horn I fell into a trance from the buzzing. Whatever was creating the sound began to get closer, before a slender black silhouette with a wingspan of many feet began to fly towards me. Whatever this was almost managed to reach me, but not before Kelly hit it with the car. The sound of the thump that the car made with the silhouette's torso broke my trance. Kelly yelled to get in the car, I was somewhat dazed, but I still responded to her command.
Several cracks ran through the windshield of the car and there was obvious damage to the bumper. We only had a few more miles worth of gas, but we drove anyway. The woods extended some ways, but eventually we came across a large soybean field and we concluded there must be a house nearby. The car began to make sounds and was shaking. We’d have to leave our car if we wanted to continue further.
It was silent between us, until we came to a complete stop and the engine was off.
“Do you think it’s still behind us?” I gravely asked.
“I don’t know, but it’s probably not safe to sit here.” Kelly said as she turned on the hazard lights. She continued, “If we leave this on it’ll draw attention to the car.”
We had some basic equipment in the back that I grabbed. This included a flashlight, as well as a backpack containing such items as a first aid kit and some fire starting supplies I had leftover from a camping trip. We started walking down the road quickly. When we heard the buzzing, that walk turned into a run. It was bright enough from the moon that we were able to spot a black silhouette hovering above the treeline a long distance away. Both of us were fairly quick on our feet and the field was about to end, but still there was no house in sight. The silhouette had just reached the car and was beginning to come towards us.
“We’re gonna have to run through the field.” Kelly confessed what we both knew. We made a sharp turn into the soybean farm and hunched over to conceal ourselves. Kelly was in front as I kept checking behind us. The field was quite wide and it felt like I was running for a long time. At some point we heard the buzzing again.
Subsequently Kelly let out a hopeful whisper, “There’s a house nearby!” I looked to see a modern farmhouse just up ahead.The buzzing was getting louder however. By the time we made it to the front door, we started pounding and screaming our lungs out for help. A shadow of what looked like a massive bat circled us on the ground. That’s when a light on the top floor finally turned on. Waiting around wasn’t an option however, so we ran to the back yard underneath a trailer.
Lying there seemed to be our only option. While underneath I wanted to tell Kelly that I was sorry for not listening to her, but I was silent for our safety. The entity touched onto the ground by our trailer, we could see the sophisticated pattern on its wings. It had two feather-like extrusions from its face, and between them a thin trunk-like organ that curled up. The buzzing was loud enough that we had to cup our ears. Just as the winged entity began to walk towards us we saw the flash and heard the first gunshot. This led the entity to fly away.
For a few moments we waited until the buzzing was gone completely. That’s when we heard a warm older voice, “The both of you should come inside before it comes back.”

I'm certain one of those strikes was for leaving when my shift ended, and not staying to close. When that happened, no one locked the door and it was left open all night. When confronted, I told them I am under no obligation to stay after my shift ends. Before that event, I was asked things like, "Do you have a bus to catch?" when I made to leave for the day. So wrong. I told them if you need to have someone stay, you need to post the shift as ending after the time they close (typically 10-15 minutes after closing time). Employees need to get paid to deal with the stragglers that move to check out their books only after it hits closing time. No one should be expected to work off the clock. Note: it was a non- represented position, so the union did nothing for me.
If your employee has issues, the time to talk to them is while they are your employee, not after you fire them Impossible to take corrective action when they are silently building a case to fire you. Feedback after I got fired? I don't work for you, and don't have to listen to you since we no longer have any relationship. Got up and walked out.

I got an ESA letter from my PCP and my apartment building bounced it back because it didn't state that it was for a disability (even though she has previously diagnosed me over a year ago). My doctor did state in the letter that this would be considered a "Reasonable Accommodation", I work with students in higher education and when I see this verbiage it automatically signals an accommodation for a disability, but I guess it's not clear enough? Now I can't get her to respond to update the letter and they said they would cancel my emotional support animal application in 3 days and proceed with the application as if he were a regular household pet (which he will be denied), would it be beneficial to send in my medical note where she diagnosed me with generalized anxiety disorder (moderate to severe) or would that shoot me in the foot? Also I am in California

Okie dokie, here we are with the differences and comparisons between the anime and manga for season 2 episode 21. Standard disclaimers: 1. this is pretty much spoiler-free, I will only talk about the portion of content from the manga that was covered in the episode. 2. a difference one way or the other is not inherently a good or bad thing. I'll probably dislike the anime's changes, but those are my judgements, you have yours. 3. I am comparing the official english versions of the material that I have easily available to me, as such I'm comparing 2 different translations, I'm aware the two JP versions almost certainly have identical wording in most parts (and that Netflix is just using the manga lines, for the most part). With that said, let us begin.

How those possessed by wealth and power end up. But you haven't lost all of this for nothing. In exchange for your farm, your son has become a man." Manga: "Too much wealth leads to disaster...I told you time and time again, Ketil... Heh... But it will not all go to waste. In exchange for the farm, your son has become a man."
- Here the anime cuts the next 9 pages. This is due to how they've reordered some events and in relation to how last episode ended. What's cut here is a scene of Thorfinn about to leave with Leif before thinking: "Master survived. Canute didn't capture him. Which means this war hasn't ended yet. Maybe now...I can make it in time? The way things are now...can I really leave this place like this?" and turning around, saying he's forgotten something. Einar then runs after Thorfinn and tries to convince him that he has no reason to try and help the farm, that this is a war and that his strength alone won't make a difference. Thorfinn counters that they do owe Pater and Sverkel a debt, and further explains his reasoning for going to Canute: "Until just moments ago, I didn't want anything to do with this battle, either. But...now that I've sworn to build a land of peace, that's changed. I can't simply decide that as long as Vinland is peaceful, everywhere else can burn. Don't you agree, Einar?" Einar then says that it's not like they can fight Canute's men, they don't have a single sword, to which Thorfinn says: "Don't be stupid. A sword would only make this more dangerous. Did you think I was going to fight them? I am going to broker peace." Thorfinn then says that he knows Canute, which surprises Einar. And now the anime picks back up at Canute's camp. So yeah, with the scene at the end of ch 93 displaced to a later episode, Thorfinn's reasoning for going to Canute has seemingly changed to being something that we're supposed to assume is similar to Canute's reasoning for wanting to build his paradise as stated back in the Prologue, instead of what Thorfinn himself says here. Some of these cut lines are placed at the end of the episode after Thorfinn accepts the bet.
- Related to that, The scene of Einar talking to Leif and running on his own are anime-original.
- Again due to changes stated above, Einar is not with Thorfinn when he arrives at Canute's camp in the anime, only showing up later. In the manga, Einar is there from the start and so as a result, in the anime he no longer appears in many shots that he was in in the manga.
- In the manga Drott is wearing chainmail under his tunic, whereas the anime has made it just a dark shirt.
- In the manga, when Drott initially tells Thorfinn off, he slaps Thorfinn and tells him to "Go back and deliver the message."
