 | I'm a student athlete who's basically decent in most of the stuff I do so I don't really worry about my grades or such, Im not the fastest swimmer or anything but as I said, I'm pretty decent, I mean like the first 50 meters I can do in less than 35 seconds which is pretty good for a 15 year old so I guess it's not rlly all that bad. But I broke my arm. I was cycling up a mountain road then I got hit by a student on a motorcycle who was late for his exams. Mind you it's 7:15 in the morning, I didn't have school that day so I decided to go higher up the mountain I always ride up. This guy on the motorcycle had his mother on the passenger seat, he doesn't have a license or a helmet. His front wheel hit mine, I dragged my bike to the side of the road and lost my vision for 40 seconds or so. When I got my vision back, my right arm was broken, the bones behind my pinky and ring finger got shoved into my forearm and one of the bones in my forearm bulged over the first joint of my thumb. That was back in January, only 3 days after my birthday. And only a month later my first girlfriend broke up with me. I couldn't even bother thinking about her at the time, I had to focus on healing. My hand was casted for 6 weeks. She broke up with me when I was at my lowest. When the cast was taken off, I didn't know what to feel. I didn't know how to feel about her. I tricked myself into thinking that I hated her while I still loved her. I told her I hated her so she blocked me, I robbed the only chance of closure I could ever have so it was my fault, as always. After that, I got back to training, been going to a physical therapist and I've gone back to skating. I've been training harder than before, but my body can't take it. I oftenly get fevers, run out of blood sugar or just be dependent on caffeine and energy drinks. The fact that I've been diagnosed with depression for 6 years doesn't help either. I have nothing better to do with my life. I'm neither handsome or rich like the other guys that actually get unconditional love. It's not like I don't want to live anymore, but what else do I have left? I can't get through anymore talking stages, I'm tired of them. And everywhere I go I see her face along with her new guy. I just want to stop. Stop existing. Shits been hard on my for years and I've never gotten a break from this. This might even be my suicide note Idk. If I do survive it's either I'm too weak as Ive proved in the past or I'm off doing dumb shit to impress people who I shouldn't even be look for approval in. First time posting here. Currently working a dead end night time security job. It pays well, I’m also a veteran attending college which covers tuition and pays me a decent amount of money for housing allowance. Between the two I’m currently making $6-7.5k depending on overtime. The job sucks though, I’m isolated all night, I have no social life outside of the gym and there’s absolutely no opportunities for advancement.
My stepdad was an IFBB pro, my mom was an amateur bodybuilder as well. I grew up in the world of fitness, lifting, eating clean has always been second nature to me. As well as the knowledge of the science behind both. Deciding to make a career change I spoke to my local LA Fitness manager and asked what they looked for when hiring a personal trainer as far as certs and experience go. He picked my brain for a few mins and pretty much offered me a job on the spot, and said he could easily stack my schedule so long as I get my ISSA cert.
With nothing better to do during my long security shifts I crushed it out in two weeks. However, I am seeing a lot of shit about the pay at LA Fitness that is giving me cold feet. On one hand, fitness has always been a passion of mine, I am a people person and think I would make a great trainer. I also see the potential of having a long term career doing something I love. I see this opportunity as a first stepping stone to gain experience and eventually move to a better opportunity. Whether that be a high end luxury club or going private. On the other hand, I am in my thirties with a home, little savings and two kids. So making the leap and thinking about the financial risk that might come with it is making me nervous.
I will still be going to school and receiving that $2500 housing allowance. My total expenses are around $4k. So I need to make $3-4k/mo working at LA to live as comfortably as I am now. The manager said this is possible as he could easily stack my schedule but upon doing my own research, idk if that’s true. I should have asked him exactly how the pay scale works but I took him at his word and was just excited about the opportunity. Do you guys think this is possible?
For reference, min. Wage is $16 in my state. On indeed they advertise they’re hiring PTs and paying them $30-$40/hr. I know this isn’t the best source of info but it’s the closest thing I could find online. From what I’ve seen people say on Reddit tho that must be way off..

Je n'aime pas les comédies musicales, en dehors de quelques exceptions (La La Land notamment), j'ai toujours détesté les épisodes/passages/films qui en sont. Que ce soit l'épisode sur les costumes dans HIMYM, les séries comme High School Musical ou les dessins animés : généralement entendre des acteurs chanter comme des casseroles et danser comme des balais me tend ; même si à la base j'aimais le reste du film/série, ça le gâche pour moi... Un peu excessif sans doute mais qu'y-puis-je?
Et puis un jour, j'écoutais de la musique en rentrant du boulot (une playlist complètement random générée par le service) et je tombe sur My Shot et je me dis que la dernière fois que j'avais écouté une musique aussi riche (tant en paroles qu'en mélodie) c'était pour Bohemian Rhapsody (l'étalon or de la musique pour moi). Bien entendu bulot que je suis je manque de noter le titre et il s'en suit plusieurs jours ou je me suis donné pour mission de retrouver cette chanson.
À ma grande surprise il s'est révélé que cette chanson est en fait un extrait de la comédie musicale Hamilton (quoi?). Je fais quelques recherches rapide sur l'interweb (par rapport au temps passer à chercher le titre) et je me rend compte de ce qu'il en retourne ; j'écoute une autre chanson/extrait et là, vendu.

- Les costumes sont absolument incroyables, de toute évidence un soin hors du commun a été porté à ce que les costumes soient bien réalisés et fidèles à la réalité.
- Les acteurs/chanteurs sont absolument fantastiques, mention particulière pour Leslie Odom Jr, Daveed Diggs et l'excelentissime Renée Elise Goldsberry.
- La façon d'articuler les chansons/actes est magistrale, les rimes sont fluides, habiles et complexes à la fois.
Depuis que j'ai découvert Hamilton, j'ai pas changé d'avis sur les comédies musicales mais je l'ai revu 3 ou 4 fois et je vous le recommande chaudement.

I can recite the entire cadenza note by note (starts with a slow mi fa# la sol#, also ends with the same notes one octave higher), and I also know that the cadenza is at the very end of the first movement (after the end of the cadenza, the orchestra comes in with a mi mi explosion, then on to the second movement).
Can anybody help me relieve me of my pain and tell me the title (composer) of this piece? Thank you!

My ex and I were in a long distance relationship. She kept asking for me to come to her with a plane, but leaving my job for a vacation isn’t easy. At first it would’ve been around August, but I can only leave my work around October. That has been causing a lot of arguments already, she can’t understand I can’t leave my job just like that and it’s depending on my boss when I can leave and that it requires some patience before I know when to go, probably after summer break. I also have a child who goes to school and I’m a single mom, planning things like that requires time. Anyway because I don’t know exactly when I could come I’ve been called a liar and numerous other accusations. I’m just so tired of all the arguments I left her, only for her to Hoover me, apologizing and asking me to please come back to her after 3 days. Y’all know what happened? The same morning she continues to argue with me, I still can’t give a date when I’m coming so I’m fake, I’m a liar I’m all bad I’m pretentious. This time she blocked me and told me she only wanted closure, that if I still couldn’t give her a date I’m a liar. It’s like these people feel entitled to anything and when they don’t get what they want they act like toddlers, throwing tantrums and never being reasonable. I kind of even regret agreeing to come to her, because ever since that her behavior started to become even more out of control. Moral of the story; don’t fall for it when they try to Hoover you back into this. Nothing is going to change. Just stay away.

hello! i am an incoming grad student and am a bit worried about making friends and the social scene down at ucla. i just finished undergrad in the bay a few weeks ago and since committing to UCLA, have heard a lot about LA people/UCLA students being fake. i do not consider myself to be one with social anxiety and quite consider myself to be an ambivert and can be extremely outgoing to the point where i have a hard time shutting up (lmfao) but i am worried about what spaces i can even try to seek friendships and social connections outside of my (fairly small) cohort.

I just finished my first year as an assistant prof at a small LA college and I am considering leaving after next year.
I did a PhD and a postdoc at Ivy League schools and although I published a lot, I didn’t particularly enjoy the culture, the grant writing and the need to be very narrowly specialized in order to stay competitive. I did some undergraduate teaching before my current job and I really enjoyed it so I thought that a liberal arts college would be a perfect fit…
I’m at a decent school with a 2-3 teaching load and although I’m grateful to have a tenured track job, I’m just not enjoying the teaching and I feel really guilty about it. I love the students and my evaluations have been stellar but they don’t reflect my actual performance because I barely prepare for class and don’t put much thought into creating assignments or grading. I often just show up and have a conversation with the class, play educational games or show documentaries. I feel like a fraud. I have heard from other professors that evaluations are unfair because they reward teachers that are popular and /or teach easy classes. Well, that’s true and I feel awful to be of those teachers but I just don’t feel motivated to work harder and be a better (not just entertaining) teacher. I don’t think I will enjoy administrative work either because I prefer interacting with students.

Idk why I like retros so much but they give me old school vibes and I like that look. I can get both LeBron 9 and Curry 1 at the same price(colorways: King of LA and Sour patch kids). I am looking to play indoor in them but I think both have ok durability for outdoor (not for asphalt/concrete but for those plastic courts I play on). The main thing I am looking for is Good Traction and Ok cushioning. Since both are high tops I am going to skip the last 1 or 2 lace loops because I am used to low cut shoes. I just find it hella nice when younger kids(I am almost 15) wear retros because my generation really buys everything that’s new and a lot of them looks the same. I don’t know how to start this counting it’s my first Reddit post, so please bare with me. ToT
But basically in the beginning of the pandemic I somehow joined a discord group chat. A friend decided to add me and I got to know her friends. One of the guys not too long after I was introduced to the group DMed me. He basically was hitting on me first thing before even knowing my name. We got to know each other and very quickly we became great friends. We obviously started liking each other, the way we texted proves it. At some point he was getting curious and started asking me what I look and sound like. Me being a hijabi (😭) I’d describe my facial features without doting too much on my hair. I’d tell him I’ve got a masculine voice for a girl it’s not all that feminine after all. Someway somehow he and his friends convinced me to do a video call with them. It was me and three other guys. I had my best friend and his two friends on call. I was about to show them my face for the first time. What could go wrong? I guess this was what changed our futures, to put it simply he didn’t like my face. I don’t blame him I didn’t like my face either at the time. I was in 6-7th grade, it was probably within the first maybe second year of my hijabi era. So my hijab didn’t look the greatest, I was probably also too happy and excited for my own good. My own phone does not recognize me when I laugh. I could probably pass as a white girl if it weren’t for my hijab. But the moment I start laughing it’s a dead give away I’m not, my eyes disappear to slits in my face. I won’t go into depth about my face but point is I wasn’t lookin too cute on that video call. Not long after he started ghosting me. He used to text me first and all the time, but it was only me texting first then. Eventually I gave up on him, “friends drift apart, nothing I can do about it” I used to think. Once the pandemic had settled down and people started going back to their jobs and school. I started going back to school as well, I transferred back into my middle school a little before the end of the first semester. Reminder I was there for the beginning of 6th grade so I could recognize most people, there were some new faces though. One kid, I got to know from a discord chat was in my class, no it wasn’t my “best friend”. It was a friend of his, one of the guys that was on that video call. As the school year continued we had to share a desk in school for a while. So one random day in the middle of first period English, I took it upon myself to ask him. “When did he stop liking me? It was after that video call wasn’t it?” After it happened I had months if not almost a year to think about it before seeing him and his friend in school. He (my desk partner) admitted that his friend (my “bestie”) liked me, and how he used to text him and ask him to help reply to MY messages or when we would have our roasting battles and how he needed a better roast for me. But in the end it all came crashing down after that video call. I laughed, “Ouch, damn! Is my face that much of a turn off?!” I was wasn’t sad nor surprised I realized my face was the problem not long after he started ghosting me. But I wanted closure, some kind of way to put my mind at ease. To know why he did what he did. I remember his friend trying to let me down easy, not wanting to hurt my feelings. So he said “you just don’t look like what he expected…” so now about a year after all this. I realized my face, really did protect me from zina. I like joking about this. Telling my friends about how a guy liked me, then lost all feelings after seeing my face. So that means I’m ugly but hey at least it also means I have a good personality 🤷♀️💀 But ykw I take back the “I’m ugly” part I’d rather say I’m just not “guy pretty”

After Anne, Star, Molly and Rapunzel reunite with Luz who’s with Eda, King and The Collector, they head off to teach the Collector about the meaning of life, growing up, and change… without the “Steven Universe method of musicals”, along with them is Lunella Lafayette, Penn Zero, Bashful, Elsa and Sofia The First.
After Luz shows Collector how she got her ice magic, Anne receives an emergency call from Sprig and Sasha who inform them that Andrias and Darcy are launching their attack on Los Angeles, but it’s not just in LA. Vee, Scratch and Marco soon join the group chat and informs their friends about Frobots attacking Gravesfield, Ghosts haunting Brighton, and Solarian Warriors attacking Mewni.
Eda and King decide to stay behind and continue showing Collector around. Anne rejects on going to the Archives to find them as time is off the essence and the more they waste it, the more innocent people would get hurt. As they entered the Archive House, Star provides light with her magic when she suddenly screams from coming face-to-face with a Titan Trapper’s puppet form. Everyone saw the horrors of the puppets with Sofia commenting, “I’ll never look at Puppet shows the same way again”.
Luz literally is in a state of panic her mom and Cool Aunt Lilith as puppets. Things only get more painful when Rapunzel sees something and asks everyone not to look down. When Luz does, Star quickly blocks her. Luz asks Star to move and tries to move past her, but Star refuses to move because doing so would hurt Luz beyond comprehension.
Luz then asks Stringbean to move Star and to Luz’s horror, she sees Willow, Gus, Hunter and Amity as puppets laying on the floor. Luz begins to tear up as she stares at her friends, brother figure and girlfriend in sheer horror. They all float down to the puppets as Luz cradles Amity’s puppet form in tears saying “I’m sorry. I failed you, my hermosa”.
Anne puts a hand on Luz’s shoulder to comfort her, when receives another call from Sprig telling her the situation in LA is getting more worst and she needs to hurry back. Anne begs Luz to leave Amity, Camila and everyone else behind, but Luz refuses to do so; Anne also tells her if they don’t hurry, there won’t be a home for her and Camila to return to, but Luz informs Anne that the Isles is her home and Amity and Camila need her; Star makes her pain worst by saying there’s nothing we can do for them right now and they are needed on Earth. Luz cries even harder and she puts down Amity’s puppet form and whispers “I love you, sweet potato” to Amity, she gets on Stringbean and she goes with the others back to Earth via a portal Star opened using her Butterfly powers.
After splitting up to save the civilians in LA, Gravesfield, Brighton and Mewni, Anne and her allies regroup at Anne and Sasha’s school, “Saint James Middle School” to plan their next step to stopping the WAR OF THE WORLDS. After reuniting with Team RWBY, who came back from the Ever After, Lunella sends them to New York City to find a special energy component that can help them dismantle the Newtopia Castle’s shield. The component is somewhere in Lunella’s old underground lab that was destroyed when the ENCLAVE attacked her home. While training with Anne, Molly, Star and Rapunzel, Luz loses all restraint and the trauma from the Collector’s nightmare, seeing her family, friends and lover as puppets and all her suffering/grief kicks in. She emits some form of full powered dark anti-magic like Asta from “Black Clover”, and starts fighting and beating up Anne (who’s in her Half-Calamity Super Saiyan form), Molly (who’s in her Wraith form), Star (who’s in her Golden Butterfly form), and Rapunzel (who’s in her Sundrop Super form) to near death. In order to calm her down and lighten her grief, Sofia asks Elsa to find Team RWBY and go to the Boiling Isles to bring Amity’s puppet form to Doctor Strange.
The fighting goes on until only Anne and Luz are standing. As Luz nearly beats down Anne, Anne asks Luz to stop and don’t give in. As Luz was about to strike a deadly blow of magic, Anne asks her; “Is this what your mother wants for you? What your father wants for you? What Amity wants for you!?” Luz turns back to normal and sees her hands stained in blood and burnt marks from her fire glyphs. She drops to her knees crying realizing what she’s done to her friends and over the darkness and anger that was inside her. Vee slowly walks up to Luz and kneels down to hug her sister in an effort to comfort her.

2023.06.01 07:01 moonwalkermel I met a member of the Jackson family and didn't even know it.
So today I found out that one if the instructors at the beauty school I was a student at is one of Michael Jackson's cousins. Her name is LaToya Jackson (apparently that name is popular in the family). I went in today to get a hair cut so I can support the students. I started talking about Michael Jackson with the instructor that was helping the student with my haircut and he told me that one of the other instructors that I've met in the past from me going there to get my past hair cuts was his cousin. It was right then and there that her name just clicked and I was mind blown. I wanted to talk to her again but she was busy teaching a class at the moment but when I go in next time I'm gonna have to see if I can talk to her again.
So, yeah... thats my story about how I've known a member of the Jackson family for a good while now but didn't even know it until tonight. What a small world we live in, amirite?
