In protest of Reddit's API changes, I have just finished deleting as much of my post and comment history as possible. I have heard that this list has been useful for many readers over the years, so I am reposting the list as a new post here, instead of a comment.

Hey everyone! Back with another funky homebrew to share with y'all.
This one is a sort of 4 colour (WURG) legends shell built around an infinite combo which allows you to create as many 2/2 cats with haste as you need to attack and kill the opponent in one go.

So the core of the deck is built around the interaction between [[Atsushi, the Blazing Sky]], [[Jinnie Fay, Jetmir's Second]], [[Blade of Shared Souls]] and [[Kemba, Kha Enduring]].
The infinite loop then goes like this:
On top of that, I'm running 4 copies of [[Fauna Shaman]] whose ability lets you discard a creature card in hand and tutor up another one. So that helps you dig for any of the 3 creatures you might still need to get into the combo.
I also run 4 copies of [[Thalia, Guardian of Thraben]] because the only noncreature spell in the deck is the Blade of Shared Souls and it's not too much of a bummer if that ends up costing 4 mana instead of 3.
The final card in the deck is a super crucial one, as it is often the card which helps you win in the games when you don't get into the infinite loop. That card is [[Gala Greeters]] and although it's not too amazing on its own, it synergises reeeally well with Jinnie Fay as the 2nd mode on Gala Greeters can create a treasure token whenever another creature enters the battlefield under our control, but Jinnie Fay can make that instead be a 2/2 cat or a 3/1 dog. Then that cat or dog entering the battlefield triggers Gala Greeters ability AGAIN and you can choose one of the other modes too.
So if you play the Greeters on turn two then follow up with a Jinnie Fay, you immediately get a 2/2 cat or 3/1 dog "for free" plus you can still either pump the Greeters or gain some life. This helps you create a really wide board really quickly, and all the lifegain helps a lot with surviving against aggro decks like mono red. If they don't deal with either immediately then you often just end up with too many blockers for them to get past plus gain too much life for them to burn you out.
Overall, the deck isn't quite on the level of the meta decks but it can actually hold its own on the ranked ladder decently. The fact you have so many must-remove creatures (Thalia, Greeters, Jinnie Fay) but also protection for them (Skrlev & Melira) means that it's difficult for the opponent to kill everything, meaning they often run out of removal while you still have enough creatures on board to get some of the synergies going (or at least to survive long enough until you can combo off).
So that's the deck, I wouldn't recommend crafting it if you're looking for a deck that can help you win as much as possible on the ladder, but if you're looking for something a bit different and fun I can definitely recommend. For some reason the idea of beating the opponent to death with infinitely many cats is just hilarious to me, maybe it is to you too?!?

I have only read a couple of litRPG series.
Noobtown by Ryan Rimmel and I am currently enjoying He Who Fights With Monsters, by somebody called "Shirtaloon". Also NPCs by Drew Hayes.
I keep seeing DCC mentioned---I'm just wondering how the storytelling compares for people who have read some of the series I have currently read as a yardstick.
One important thing to me is a likable main character who isn't overly powerful. I started listening to a couple other litRPGs that I just couldn't get into either because the character wasn't likable, or never seemed to earn their skills, or because the narration was terrible.
So I am curious as to how people who have read all these, or several of these, series compare and rank them.
I am currently loving He Who Fights With Monsters, but also really enjoyed the other two series that I mentioned as well.

Some posit these are cautionary tales, guiding children to stay in sight of their parents, to not go out at nighttime, to avoid unfamiliar fruit, to ignore the strange paw prints slashed into the early morning mud. Indoctrinate the youth with fear so they stay safe, protected, compliant, controllable. If someone is afraid to leave the village, they can’t discover there are other ways to live that might be less cruel or more accepting or even, perish the thought, happy. Historians will say that’s where these legends originated.
Historians are wrong.
If there’s one thing we’ve learned about humans, it’s that you love to ignore a warning. Fear gives way to curiosity. Curiosity to eagerness. Eagerness to recklessness. You believe that you alone can best the terrors, save your people, survive the impossible. Until suddenly you’re in the deepest parts of the forest, in a cathedral of darkness, hopelessly lost, no sunlight piercing the veil of branches above you, unsure if it’s midnight or noon. You jump at shadows, praying your torch doesn’t burn out, hoping the sound behind you was just the wind and not a snarl, trying not to breathe the pungent air, as the murky blackness overtakes you and swallows you, flesh, blood, bones, and all. The overzealous adventurers never emerge from the trees, consumed completely. The search parties dissipate despite the pleading arguments of their forlorn families as gradually each intrepid explorer fades into the obscurity of memory.
When humanity emerged, you didn’t fear the inky gloom outside your caves. Your primitive ancestors had no survival instinct. They didn’t move carefully through the world. They trudged and stomped and left their markings everywhere. It made it so easy to hunt them.
But where’s the fun in that?
You humans didn’t come up with these stories. We whispered them into your nightmares and sang them in the wind whistling through the sky. We made them infect you, creep up your spine, claw into your skin, occupy your every waking thought. But you never could express that, just shudder at the goosebumps licking up your arms and dripping down your neck.
The words themselves didn’t come until later, when one poor soul found himself alone in the woods, in our outstretched talons. We had no trouble making the deal: start telling his people about the monsters and we would let him go. Most people would be shocked to know that these myths started with one terrified man, but he singularly eliminated the need for our ravenous stalking. I hurried to open the monsters handbook as I crouch hidden in the bushes. I turn the pages frantically, while trying to be silent, before I end up at the desired page. I occasionally turned my eyes back to the bipedal humanoid but yet strangely so unhuman creature prowling in the clearing in front of me.
In front of me, was the warg snarling at me, while giving a wary look to the side. Oh yes, the Ashborne was still to the side of me, and it looks like it hates both of us for disturbing it. I slowly backed away from the warg as it advanced on me step by step. I slowly raised my cross bow as it got ready to pounce. It was to be a battle of timing. If either of us acted too early, the other can dodge and take their shot. But If either of us acted too late, then the other could easily finish it off. The stalemate was broken by a loud howl-like sound from the Ashborne who had started running towards us at an unreal speed. Before either of us could react, it was too near to us.
As I blinked, the Ashborne went barreling past me crashing into the warg. It started viciously tearing into it and EATING it. I would have puked right then and there if not for the immediate danger in front of me. I had quickly realized that this was not a battle I could have possibly won with strength. I took my time to formulate my plan while Ashborne was busy devouring the warg. Plus, I didn't want to disturb the Ashborne's eating lest it get angrier at me.
A few minutes after, just as the Ashborne cleaned the meat out of the skeleton, I slowly spoke, "William Ashborne!". It was a gamble really. The legends speak of a prodigous monster hunter named William Ashborne who set out on a strange quest of tasting the flesh of every one of the 199 monsters. Of course there are a lot more monsters than 200, But apparently at his time, there were only 199 monsters. If you believe the legends, that is. But anyway, according to those stories, he slowly became more feral, mad, short-tempered and stronger with each of the monster he ate. And, this is where it gets really disturbing, Just after he ate the remains of the 199th monster, he became so mad that he hallucinated a dog to be a monster. Some even say that he may have thought this to be the 200th monster. But whatever was on his mind, all stories agree on this - he devoured the dog and ate it too. But it was no ordinary dog. It was the pet of a god, who became enraged and cursed that he complete the transformation into the monster he was becoming and to roam the lands in endless hunger, devouring anything he sees. And this is where the story gets really muddy. There are many versions to how the god reduced the curse so that the entire world didn't end. But what my grandfather used to tell was that, whoever uses the true name of the person Ashborne used to be, will be able to calm it and send it to slumber for half a millennium. And Indeed there were some who claimed to have seen this creature and used it to defeat the beast. But either they were lying, or the legend was wrong. But more than likely, they were both wrong.
As I soon found out, the beast didn't fall asleep. It instead turned sharply looking at me, looking with almost intelligent eyes. It emitted a guttural sound, that was strangely not fear inducing. It signaled to the crossbow in my hands and signaled at its throat. It rapidly started signing with its - no his hands. My eyes started watering as I understood it him. He was signing in the sign language of the hunters guild. Some signs were confusing, likely changed meanings due to the passage of time. But I understood the crux of what he meant. He is cursed to devour every creature he sees in a mindless rage. But after each devouring, his sense will return for a short period of time. But it was not meant to be a respite. It was a time of torture as he witnessed all the carnage he had caused. And he was cursed to not be able to harm himself too. And the only way to kill him is with a weapon soaked in the blood of his latest victim. I looked into his pained pleading eyes. Oh, how had he suffered for this long. With heavy heart, I raised my bow and notched an arrow. I smeared the last remains of the wolf on the tip of the arrow and took aim.
I fired. I didn't open my eyes until I heard a thunk sound due to his body hitting the ground. I shoveled at the base of a nearby tree and then dragged him into it. I then shoveled back the sand and mud.
My hands were wet,
but not with sweat.
Teary eyes looked into the grave,
William will no longer rave.

Entry 200: Hunter AshborneMy reading was interrupted when I had heard a twig snap behind me. With all the instincts and experience of a monster hunter, I hurriedly dove sideways- just in time, as a black furry warg pounced into the bush I was in. In my fascination with the Ashborne, I had forgotten the number 1 rule in the field of monster hunting, you never lose awareness of your surroundings. I took a moment to observe my surroundings and gather my bearings.

Vela and her company were gone for months. But one stormy day, they returned, clad in new golden armors and draped in capes of red – the colors of their triumph. The traveling warriors disembarked their ships and stepped foot on the shores of Heathmoor as something else: Conquistadors. Vela had succeeded in her task. She had found the empire of gold, and she had decimated it, bringing back its treasures along with her. She and her fellow Conquistadors told grand tales of their heroic conquest, casting themselves as valiant, conquering heroes. But the real story of what had happened in the New World was a much darker affair…
So why did she feel such a rushing sensation?
Something that was, in her heart, almost crippling. Thankfully, she brushed it off just in time and avoided the oncoming attack. She didn’t even turn back to see the backwards thrust of her sword stab right through the marauder’s chest. Then, she lopped his head off with a mighty swing, and it was on to the next.
A battle was raging on across the deck of the Domitor, the ship she had called home ever since she left Heathmoor six months ago. Her fellow Conquistadors, men and women she had come to depend on as her crew, all locked in battle against dozens of sea marauders. Their boat was just as massive as hers, and it was nearly at arm’s length. These marauders were perhaps not organized, but they had a system. They were used to this sort of attack, and had used the storm as an advantage to get close. But already, the Domitor’s canon fire was plastering the enemy ship with damage it would never recover from. Wood splintered and caught fire, burning a vivid red against the charcoal-colored clouds. Flames the rain wouldn’t put out. Soon their attackers would all be dead, and they could resume their course back to Heathmoor.
But while she was already looking forward to her glorious return home, Conquistador Vela had to focus on the here and now. A horrendous scream came from the left – from one of her own. She turned to see two blades sticking out of a body that had been raised overhead by a hulking brute. The dead Conquistador was thrown overboard. Vela’s only concern was for the loss of their armor. The gold it had been forged with was priceless. Irreplaceable. What a waste.
Without even skipping a beat, the massive marauder let out a vicious roar that silenced the lightning’s thunder before kicking a door down – the door that led directly to the ship’s bowels. And the prize that lay below.
It appeared word had traveled fast. This was no random attack. These marauders knew what the Conquistadors had done. What they had destroyed. And what they had taken.
Vela yelled out, once again pushing back a strange sensation of fear. She had been through too much to lose it now. After all the lives she had killed, all the atrocities she had committed, she couldn’t risk losing what meant the most to her. The crown jewel of her victory. Her golden key. With it, there would be no denying her resolve, her commitment, her grandeur. With it, she would be hailed as the greatest warrior in the ranks of Horkos. A savior, a provider, and a conqueror. With it, she would be able to stand shoulder to shoulder with Astrea herself.
But for that to happen, the prize needed to stay alive.
With haste, she ran towards the brute, her golden armor heavy on her shoulders. Her sword stabbed the marauder right through the shoulder, but her opponent’s strength didn’t waver in the slightest. Using all her weight, she pulled back and down. The enemy swung a heavy punch that she avoided at the last possible moment. This gave her the opening she needed: with a hard kick, she broke the brute’s knee. Then, with a swift motion, Vela removed her sword from his shoulder, planted it upright into the wooden deck and grabbed the marauder’s head, grating their face down the blade until it was nothing but an unrecognizable, bloodied mess.
Wiping the blood away from the blade with her cape, Conquistador Vela walked to the edge of the Domitor just in time to see the enemy ship collapse into the water. Her ship had, once again, lived up to its name. And she had lived up to hers.
And soon, all of Heathmoor would know it.

The wind pressed hard against her. But she pushed back, a force of nature of her own. The ship rose and fell with every motion of the waves, each bigger and taller than the last, but she kept her balance, her feet guided by years of expertise. A long-haired marauder rushed towards her, a rusted sword in one hand and a knife in the other. What her opponent lacked in finesse, they made up in sheer strength and intensity. This was someone used to striking fear into the hearts of ordinary men. A man, she wasn’t. And certainly not ordinary. She was a Warmonger. She was Vela. And now, she was known as something else. Conquistador.So why did she feel such a rushing sensation?
Something that was, in her heart, almost crippling. Thankfully, she brushed it off just in time and avoided the oncoming attack. She didn’t even turn back to see the backwards thrust of her sword stab right through the marauder’s chest. Then, she lopped his head off with a mighty swing, and it was on to the next.
A battle was raging on across the deck of the Domitor, the ship she had called home ever since she left Heathmoor six months ago. Her fellow Conquistadors, men and women she had come to depend on as her crew, all locked in battle against dozens of sea marauders. Their boat was just as massive as hers, and it was nearly at arm’s length. These marauders were perhaps not organized, but they had a system. They were used to this sort of attack, and had used the storm as an advantage to get close. But already, the Domitor’s canon fire was plastering the enemy ship with damage it would never recover from. Wood splintered and caught fire, burning a vivid red against the charcoal-colored clouds. Flames the rain wouldn’t put out. Soon their attackers would all be dead, and they could resume their course back to Heathmoor.
But while she was already looking forward to her glorious return home, Conquistador Vela had to focus on the here and now. A horrendous scream came from the left – from one of her own. She turned to see two blades sticking out of a body that had been raised overhead by a hulking brute. The dead Conquistador was thrown overboard. Vela’s only concern was for the loss of their armor. The gold it had been forged with was priceless. Irreplaceable. What a waste.
Without even skipping a beat, the massive marauder let out a vicious roar that silenced the lightning’s thunder before kicking a door down – the door that led directly to the ship’s bowels. And the prize that lay below.
It appeared word had traveled fast. This was no random attack. These marauders knew what the Conquistadors had done. What they had destroyed. And what they had taken.
Vela yelled out, once again pushing back a strange sensation of fear. She had been through too much to lose it now. After all the lives she had killed, all the atrocities she had committed, she couldn’t risk losing what meant the most to her. The crown jewel of her victory. Her golden key. With it, there would be no denying her resolve, her commitment, her grandeur. With it, she would be hailed as the greatest warrior in the ranks of Horkos. A savior, a provider, and a conqueror. With it, she would be able to stand shoulder to shoulder with Astrea herself.
But for that to happen, the prize needed to stay alive.
With haste, she ran towards the brute, her golden armor heavy on her shoulders. Her sword stabbed the marauder right through the shoulder, but her opponent’s strength didn’t waver in the slightest. Using all her weight, she pulled back and down. The enemy swung a heavy punch that she avoided at the last possible moment. This gave her the opening she needed: with a hard kick, she broke the brute’s knee. Then, with a swift motion, Vela removed her sword from his shoulder, planted it upright into the wooden deck and grabbed the marauder’s head, grating their face down the blade until it was nothing but an unrecognizable, bloodied mess.
Wiping the blood away from the blade with her cape, Conquistador Vela walked to the edge of the Domitor just in time to see the enemy ship collapse into the water. Her ship had, once again, lived up to its name. And she had lived up to hers.
And soon, all of Heathmoor would know it.
