2023.06.09 21:34 Spare-Front7263 Am i germophobic?

It started about 1,5 years ago and progressed since. I was never like this before, I just didn’t care and never thought about it much.
People started saying i’m cuckoo, here are some things that i do. But i genuinely don’t think they’re crazy, i mean those stuff do have germs on them, i’m not making that up.
That’s not everything, but I don’t want the post to be too long.
l’m terrified about getting parasites and things being unclean, getting sick ( like a cold or a flu ) doesn’t worry me that much.
I understand that i’m cleaning more that other people, but well maybe that’s what it takes if you don’t want parasites? Maybe others should clean more.
it’s now affecting my life but l don’t know if l even have germophobia so i can’t stop doing my rituals. I brought it up to my psychiatrist ( i go to for anxiety and depression ) and she said “well i don’t see anything wrong with having good hygiene, it’s probably your anxiety acting up, we’ll keep an eye on that”, the second time i brought it up i almost made her say that i didn’t need to disinfect everything with rubbing alcohol. Why doesn’t she say anything about germophobia? Am i making things up and should i continue doing what i do? Because if i’m not germophobic then that’s just what it takes to be clean, right?
Share your thoughts, please, even if you don’t have much to say. I feel alone in this and I don’t like living like that.

I am having a hell of a time trying to install these and not sure if there's an easier way. Once I cut the hanger bars the proper height and make sure it'll fit snugly between the joists, I can't seem to hammer the nails into place. The nails constantly move or get bent and I can't hold it long enough in place to hammer it down. Am I missing something? Given the reviews on Lowes & Home Depot's website, I don't feel like it should be this difficult! Can I remove the nails and put in actual screws instead?

I live in Finland by the Baltic Sea with my husband and our little dog. When I’m not working at a paint shop for a car factory, I’m elbows deep into writing my second novel, and maybe starting a few WIPs with more wickedness. I was born here in Finland but lived in the US for a while, and I'd say the dark and moody forests of New England (and of course, Finland) and the lush streets of Los Angeles have had a long-lasting impact on my writing as most of my stories involve one or the other.

An industrial warehouse jutted out of the horizon, its jagged silhouette dimming an iridescent sky and drowning out the last rays of dying light. I hurried towards the abandoned building as its shadows cascaded down onto the streets, clutching a heart-shaped locket in the palm of my hand and a clamshell phone in the other. A gust of wind rustled the silver sequins of my dress, tugging on the hem as if whispering to hurry — I was so close now to discovering the truth about Gabriella’s death. I checked the time: 8:45 pm. The raps of my heels echoed throughout the night as I picked up my pace, reaching a lone door tucked away in a side alley.
Street lamps winked on and off as if little pock-bellied moons suspended in the air by an invisible string, confused whether the show was about to start or end. The yellow, blinking lights gleamed off the dirty windows of the concrete complex. I held up my phone and snapped a picture of the reflected image. Stage makeup morphed my features into that of a dead thing, a dead girl: two black holes for eyes, overdrawn white lips with a crooked smile, and frayed hair gathered in double buns like empty nests of a bird. A corsage of fabric orchids crawled around my neck; a noose tightening. The silver dress shone like a lure in the water. A blazing white flare obscured the photo as if I had become the Moon itself — a blind spot hiding the real picture underneath.
I cradled the locket until its imprint was etched on my skin, feeling the grooves and scratches of the soft metal. My thumb settled into a dent in the center of the good luck charm.

Helen’s best friend has been dead for three years after a night of social games went horribly wrong. Cause of death? Inconclusive. Tired of the wall of silence surrounding the murky circumstances, Helen attempts to raise Gabriella’s ghost at the abandoned warehouse where her body was found. But even the dead girl refuses to talk when she finally appears. Just when Helen thinks her chances of finding answers are gone, it’s a living and breathing Californian boy Zack who shows up at the same warehouse — the artist Gabriella posed for before her death.
Helen must overcome her biggest fear to find answers: the living people and her crippling social anxiety. But when a mutual attraction blooms between her and Zack, Helen’s resolve in discovering the truth wavers, as she might not like the answers she gets.
Zack knows Helen. She’s the performance artist who was promoting a horror show at the Santa Monica Pier with Gabriella. He made a promise to her before she skipped town abruptly: find ‘the siren’ and give her Gabriella’s journal — she deserves to know why Gabriella did what she did to win a game the two were playing. Helen fits the description, but Zack is afraid Gabriella may have written about his painful past, and handing the journal to the wrong person might land him in serious trouble jeopardizing his career.
