2023.05.31 06:30 WhatWasThePlan Can you help me find a movie based on its ending?
I've been trying to find this movie but can only remember the final scene (spoiler, I guess):
A woman is in the hospital, her husband is there (I think to bring her home) and they are face-timing with their two little girls (I think the girls are blonde). The little girls say something about how they'll be okay with this woman who is revealed to be with them. As their parents scream at them to stop, they calmly walk away with her (and away from the camera). Then the movie ends.
That's it. Sorry I can't remember any more details. Thanks in advance for your help!

2023.05.31 06:29 Essie-S-Nix I Yell Back After Being Forced To Clean The Kitchen AITA?
I am a 21 F and life with an odd house arrange of my Mom (58) God Mom (59) let’s call her T for short and God Sister (F 22) let’s call her C, live in a four – bedroom two – level house and each have different jobs. This means our house can be a bit chaotic when we cross paths, as our schedules can be all over the place. About three months ago, I got a new full-time job as a caretaker. And while the job is different from anything I'm done before, the main difference is that as it being full time, my family can no longer complain that I know longer pull my wait around. It is okay if not a tiptoeing on a type rope balance of not trying to rock the boat with this new house arrangement. That is until a week ago, where out of the blue, T started to seem to be in a bad mood every day. T would come home and yell at the first person she would see, this would normally be C, her daughter. I would do my best to stay out of her way by going outside on walks, staying in my room or hiding in C’s to not get noticed. After a few days, I got sick of it and ended up staying down most of my night in my Mom’s room watching movies and eating small snacks to avoid and awkward dinner. Until mom wanted to go to bed. Not wanted to get any of T’s ire. Three days ago, my mom had an accident while walking a dog and tour her tendon which pulled a bone improper. Seeing my mom was in pain, I would try to go out of my way to make her feel better. This would include going on walks, giving her massages, and offering any stacks if she seemed hungry. This comes to about the question. We had been watching a TV show as a family when my mom had asked if I could help clean the food before I went to bed. Not seeming a problem with helping, I agreed, she went to bed and after an hour or so, I followed. Seeing that the kitchen was a mess, I put the hamburgers away and dumped the leftover food away and put the plates in the sink as the dishwasher had been running. I had left the corn out, assuming that C or T would do the last part, and was heading to my room when I got called again. C refused to help as she did dinner and T said that I didn’t finish cleaning the kitchen. This is where I may be the A hole. I pointed out I only offered to deal with the food and had no obligation to clean the whole kitchen. Pointing out, it wasn’t even that messy to start with. This is where T jumps on me for not finishing the kitchen. Saying that the dishes were dirty still. I pointed out I had yet to rinse them, as I had just thrown the food away. T then asked if the dishwasher was done, which had just finished at this point. I had responded that I would just leave the finishes and put the clean ones away in the morning. She got upset and said as a 21-year-old and I having a full-time job, Is hound be able to complete thing fully now. And while I pointed out that I did not agree to this, I was forced to clean the entire kitchen as well hear nasty comments about how I can’t do anything right. Being the black sheep and the family when it came to cleaning. I snap saying well I’m not OCD so I can’t help it. And , you never help anyway, which got her more upset, getting her to yell at me. I brought up how she’s been in a bad mood all week and that why I didn’t along with the rest of my family want to be around her. Before whiping down the last of the kitchen and storming off. AITA?

2023.05.31 06:28 tyrannosaurus_r Cole’s cycle: bootstrap paradox, or the natural end of a time travel cascade?
TL;DR: Jones must’ve sent Hannah back prior to the original loop, thus creating James, and making him a factor for all successive loops until the end.
I’ve just finished the show tonight and, beyond my happy tears for a perfect, well executed ending (I was expecting a true sad one), I’ve got a few thoughts that probably merit an immediate rewatch. One sticks out, though: if Cole’s existence, and the entire conflict of the show, is a consequence of time travel, how did Cole come to be?
I suppose the answer here is “up to you”, because I don’t think the show ever addresses this in any real way. So, in the spirit of the best ending being the one you choose for yourself, my answer has to be: since time travel clearly broke the timeline, and Cole was the center of that breakage, my conclusion has to be that some event involving Cole’s existence happened that shouldn’t have.
To liken this to another famous time travel franchise, the Terminator Conundrum frames my thoughts here. Skynet comes online and becomes self aware at whatever the original point in history, and is defeated, by chance, by the original John Connor. His father probably wasn’t Reese, and the original timeline is sufficiently different, but Connor was still born of Sarah, and still is decisive in defeating Skynet. Skynet sends a Terminator back in time to kill his mom, then John sends his best soldier, Reese, who winds up becoming his father instead. The key factor here is John was born to Sarah, which is enough for him to become the leader he needs to be to defeat Skynet. The bootstrap paradox ensues, until something breaks the cycle: likely, when Skynet is either stopped entirely from existing, or is defeated before it can use the time weapon. Now, whatever the final shape of the timeline is, Kyle Reese was always John’s dad. He was displaced from time, so any changes to the timeline thereafter don’t alter the events that had already happened. John retains knowledge of the war to come, and the cycle is eventually broken when he doesn’t have to send Kyle back. John is a man who shouldn’t exist, but does.
Extrapolating this to 12 Monkeys, the translation is fairly direct. At some point prior to the iteration of Project Splinter we know, something had to happen to make Cole. He’s the man that shouldn’t exist, and time travel simply existing is what started the war with the Monkeys. The logical conclusion is that the snowballing effect of time travel led to the 12 Monkeys, and eventually, the Witness, moving to create the Red Forest, but the inciting action for all of this was the birth of James Cole.
How did that happen? This is basically just headcanon, but from what we know of the characters, I think Jones’s first attempt to escape the doom of mankind was simply to spare Hannah. Somehow, she survived the illness, and was able to be sent back to 2009 where she met James’s dad, and became his mother. Or, perhaps, there wasn’t even a plague— maybe Katarina and Elliot just cracked Splinter tech without issue, and made the mistake of sending Hannah back a little bit too drastically.
Cole shouldn’t exist, and couldn’t exist, otherwise: in the original timeline, the Monkeys release the Kalavirus (likely just made without Olivia’s corpse), and humanity eventually succumbs after decades of mutation. In the new timeline, Cole exists. He is found by Jones, or, perhaps was always with her— he’s her grandson, after all— and is sent back to Cassie, who they can identify as the person who spearheaded the containment effort of the virus, and came closest to identifying its origin. One could even conceivably posit that this was the movie’s events!
After a few iterations of trying, and failing, to alter the timeline substantially, the iteration and reiteration of events cascade until the Monkeys, whether via knowledge of the Primaries (who undoubtedly notice what’s going on), wisen up to time travel and begin to counter Project Splinter. It’s just an arms race of increasingly drastic changes to the timeline, akin to what we see after the team’s only successful shift of events prior to the finale (moving the apocalypse to 2018).
The loop happens again, and again, until we wind up with the one in the show, where just the right pieces fall into place such that the cycle can be broken. At the end of it all, Jones was right when she sent Cassie back to kill her— time travel did start the mess, but by that point, they were already in too deep. Once the boots are laced, adding more knots just makes a tighter mess. The only way to solve it was to just take off the shoes.

2023.05.31 06:28 SeaworthinessMore934 FWI: Following in the footsteps of Pluto TV, Zumo play, and Local now, there is a growing movement toward retro style streaming services that focus on old movies, TV shows, and music.
I am refering to Pluto TV, which has alot of old movies and tv shows like Johnny Carson, The Love Boat, etc., along with Zumo and Local now, which also focus on stuff like this, along with local, national, and international news. By the year 2035, these type of streaming services, that have this sort of muti purpuse use, will overshadow those services like Hulu and Netflix, which focus on newer, more cutting edge movies. A growing nostalga for the past will be the reason for this. By the year 2035, Google and Bing will also offer retropackages, that mimic 1990s internet, in regards to news headlines and graphics. This will follow in the footsteps of the Internet Archive, which serves a similer function, but these newer packages will be much more accessable to the general public.

2023.05.31 06:27 whoop-c List of my symptoms
I want to list out all my symptoms in hopes that someone can give me insight on what I might be going through.
-post nasal drip every single morning (worst between 8am-10:15am like clockwork) this post nasal drip gets so bad that my voice gets affected and I’m constantly clearing my throat) -ear fullness in my right ear from 10:30am- 2ish pm every day like clock work -patulous ETD where the tube(s) get stuck open..this happens once or twice a week for seconds to minutes at a time. Random. I suspect it’s when I’m not drinking enough water.. which I do drink a lot of but I feel as though I have to drink double than the recommended amount bc of my issues) - all of these symptoms get worse when there’s cold weathe chilly wind/ or when it’s super hot. - it’s almost impossible for me to fly because of the intense pain in my inner ears- it feels like someone is stabbing my inner ears. If I take Sudafed it helps but only helps 80%. - when driving up hills or going up elevators… I feel pressure in my right ear that eventually goes back to normal in minutes. -did allergy test, I have a dustmite and mold allergy - I get jaw popping occasionally - I suspect I might have silent reflux I am working on eating more nutrient dense foods, exercising more and MOST importantly.. reducing stress. I’ve seen a 20% improvement over the past few months but maybe it’ll take a long time to heal? I don’t take any meds rn. These symptoms are chronic and it’s been like this for the majority of my life I’ll take any tips and tricks!! Please!

2023.05.31 06:26 InputIsV-Appreciated Fiction books that give you a sense of the shadow?
I've been wanting to read more but lately I've found a lot of great writing is beautiful but can also come off as kind of "up in the air", more about thr beauty on the page rather than the tangible, grounded reality it connects to. Are there any fiction books you'd recommend that give you a more grounded sense of the self and shadow? For instance similar to what the movie Fight Club evokes

2023.05.31 06:26 stashew PSA: Pools - Don't look away, even for a second
Summer is here and so are pools. We took my kids to the kiddie/wading pool at the park this evening. It was 3 adults and 2 kids. I had been standing next to the toddler and I literally turned my back on the them to marvel at the baby for probably 10 seconds, and in that time the toddler had tripped over the filter grate in the middle of the wading pool. They naturally tried to put their hands down to catch themself and couldn't reach the pool floor because their torso was keeping them afloat, but their face was in the water and they couldn't catch their footing to stand up. I look over and see their mouth submerged in the water, they're flailing and they have a look of terror in their eyes.
I rushed over and grabbed them up before they had time to inhale any water. So luckily, other than being a little freaked out (as was I) they are totally fine. But I could've not noticed for 10 more seconds and things could've been much different.
No, we can't realistically watch them every single second, but I just wanted to remind everyone that things can happen fast, and it's not noisy like they show in the movies. One of the other adults had no idea anything was going on, and the other only noticed because I rushed over to help the toddler. Have fun, but be careful out there.

2023.05.31 06:25 dreaming_mystic M 25 Feeling bored and lonely [chat]
Hello,
I’ve just been feeling extremely bored and lonely these days and would love to get to know someone new. I don’t really have anyone in particular I’m looking for, just be around my age and a warm/kind person. Bonus points if you are clingy/affectionate!!
I’ve been feeling pretty overwhelmed these days due to work so it would be nice to meet someone who can be emotionally supportive of me (I’d love to be that person for you too ofc).
I’m pretty nerdy and socially awkward. I spend most of my spare time reading, watching movies, and daydreaming. I really like to discuss topics ranging from philosophy to religion to art.
DMs are open if anyone is interested:)

2023.05.31 06:25 BootyL0rd69 I think it's a testament to how well executed this movie was considering so many people loved it despite the extremely spoilery marketing
I mean seriously, the trailers are just showing all kinds of things that would have been much more shocking if kept under wraps. The second trailer which is amazing literally opens with the Riddler's arrest. Even announcing Paul Dano as the Riddler kind of takes away some of the mystique because throughout the entire film that you are just waiting for him to show up since you know full well that he is the Riddler and not that random angry guy at the memorial service. The flooding and Riddler army should have been totally left out too imo. Or even the bomb killing Gil Colson.
And yet despite how much of a disservice the marketing does to the mystery and thrill of it all, the movie still works and keeps you enthralled with its narrative. This is why Matt Reeves is in fact, the man. That being said, I do hope he is given the freedom to market the next film how he wants. Even keeping entire castings a secret if need be.

2023.05.31 06:24 Ultra_Egolatra What anime/manga/LN has the best match for Harry Potter wizards/witches?
in other words, which anime/manga/LN has magicians that are a fair match for Harry Potter wizards/witches in terms of power levels and versatility/magic applications?
Which magic systems you'd say are comparable?
For instance, Black Clover is way over the top, and Bastards is out of the question cuz DS could make nuclear explosions at any given time at his lowest, but maybe T.o Aru Majutsu no Index has magicians that are on the same level as those from HP booka, movies and Legacy?
so, any suggestions?
