I’m torn on these remakes. On the one hand, I don’t think they work on Switch. Not in recreating the original vision of Etrian Odyssey, at any rate. The best way to play these is to jettison the mapping feature that was so core to the experience on the DS and 3DS. This truly is disappointing. On the other hand, even as a stock-standard set of dungeon crawlers, the three Etrian Odyssey titles bundled up here are beautifully elegant, ethereal, and artful. They’re challenging and fundamentally enjoyable, classic dungeon crawlers. If these new releases help a new legion of people discover Atlus’ dungeon-crawling genius for the first time, then I’m ultimately very glad they exist.Everyeye.it - 80
Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection is an excellent collection of three titles that have made the history of their genre. The gaming experience may be anachronistic for the youngest, but it is a nostalgia operation that works very well: beyond some aspects penalized by the console, such as the need to get a stylus not supplied to better map the dungeons, we are facing a return of a piece of history of the Nintendo DS. Among other things, the amount of content within the package is remarkable, to the delight of fans of the series.Metro GameCentral - 80
Three old school JRPGs that are so perversely old-fashioned they force you to draw your own map - and yet they’re surprisingly captivating and fully deserving of this welcome remaster collection.Multiplayer.it - 75
[Translation] Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection is great news for dungeon crawler lovers who want to rediscover a turn-based combat classic on Nintendo Switch and PC. The function for which it is necessary to draw the maps yourself could be disorienting for those who have never tried a chapter of the saga, but it will make you feel like real explorers looking for their fortune in uncharted territory. [...] The main flaw of the Collection is the introductory price of 80 euros, which in our opinion is rather high. which immediately transforms the bundle of three games into a product only for those who are fans of all three titles and want to relive them with better graphics, updated mapping tools and greater fluidity in exploration. If you are looking for a very solid dungeon crawler and you have met this series for the first time, it is better to dedicate yourself only to the third chapter, the most solid of the trilogy.Nintendo Life - 70
Etrian Origins Collection may not be the 'definitive’ re-release that many hoped it would be, but these games are well-respected in the DRPG space for good reason and it's great to see them on Switch.Noisy Pixel - 80
The Etrian Odyssey HD Origins Collection is an excellent way to start your expedition into the dungeon-crawling genre. All three titles are excellent, but the first two entries are missing some of the major quality-of-life updates found in the Untold remakes. It’s sad to think those versions were left out, given they greatly improve the experience. Regardless, the dungeon crawling system, character classes, and overall enjoyment of this collection come to a head with the inclusion of Etrian Odyssey III, which takes all the best mechanics and provides a memorable adventure to cap off an addictive and fun collection of titles.Siliconera - 80
The Etrian Odyssey games have always been a triumph, and Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection is the sort of loving proof of concept to convince Switch and PC owners that yes, it’s still just as good on a platform that doesn’t feature two screens. Etrian Odyssey I, II, and III remain fantastic, challenging, and engaging games that will drive players to explore. Even better is that the auto-mapping and difficulty options increase the ease of entry, making them even more appealing. It’s wonderful to see all three games again, and I hope this is a precursor to a seventh installment.Vooks - 70
The Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection was an interesting title to review. As a newcomer to the series, it was a daunting series to get into without having played this style of dungeon crawler in over a decade. The benefits of including easier modes for people who just want to explore what the dungeons have on offer should not be discounted, but with a notebook, some grid paper, plenty of patience, and a willingness to experiment and try different strategies in battle makes for a compelling trilogy. However, if you do not the patient type of player, or if excessive exploration and dungeon crawling for minimal plot do not sound all that appealing, it may not be the title for you.

2023.06.01 14:55 autotldr India pauses plans to add new coal plants for five years, bets on renewables, batteries
BENGALURU, India - The Indian government will not consider any proposals for new coal plants for the next five years and focus on growing its renewables sector, according to an updated national electricity plan released Wednesday evening.
The temporary pause in the growth of the dirty fuel was hailed by energy experts as a positive step for a country that is currently reliant on coal for around 75% of its electricity.
It plans to reach net zero emissions by 2070, which would mean significantly slashing coal use and ramping up renewable energy.
In a draft of the plan released in September, the Central Electricity Authority, which is in charge of planning for India's electricity needs, projected that nearly 8,000 megawatts of new coal capacity was required by 2027.
Pachouri said one reason the plans for new coal might have been scrapped is because there are already some coal plants under construction.
"India wants to move towards a cleaner power system. With every electricity plan, the coal pipeline is falling."

2023.06.01 13:43 pplante19 ER605, EAP670 and Vlans
![]() | Hi everyone, I'm looking for advices and/or guidance. I just bought an ER605 VPN router + an EAP670 WAP for home use. I have a rather large house and have several connected devices (about 80 devices, many of which are IoT devices). submitted by pplante19 to TPLink_Omada [link] [comments] My main goal here is to separate IoT devices on their own Vlan. They are smart bulbs, smart switch, temperature sensors, alarm clock, IP cameras, Google Nest, Google TV, smart locks, etc. All the things that I want to put on a separate Vlan are wireless, nothing is wired. So my first question is : Do I need also a managed switch if I already have an ER605 VPN router + an EAP670 WAP ? I mean, can those 2 things handle the Vlan part without a managed switch if everything going to the separate Vlan are wireless ? (Sorry, I'm new to Vlan, this might sound like a dump question to some, but I want to learn this and play around with it). Like I said, it's a large house, not a business, it is not wired with ethernet cables and I did not want to open walls or something to pass cables BUT, there was a few places that had Coax cables entry..., and I made a network out of it with the help of a few MoCA adapters, it works really well. All this to say that my 'wiring' is not everything goes to a central room where the router is installed, it is mainly 'chained'. I tried to draw it the best I could, you can see it attached to this post. I don't mind having a few IoT devices that are ethernet wired on my main network, all I want to achieve is to mainly isolate my wireless IoT devices on a separate network, and this is mainly on wireless. I want my laptop, my smartphone, etc. to be on my main network (let's say SSID named MainWifi) and be able to access my network devices, but I want my other IoT devices on a totally different WiFi/Vlan (let's say SSID name IoT), I want them to access internet, but I don't want them to access my main network, I want them on a separate range. So, do I really need a managed switch to do this ? I mean, my network map is weird and chained, where would I put that switch, it is all passing though a CoAX network, do I have to put a managed switch right after the router and before the MoCA1 adapter so all traffic can pass through it ? Thanks all for help and suggestions, if you have any questions, feel free to ask. https://preview.redd.it/ix9yrx2a9e3b1.png?width=1173&format=png&auto=webp&s=00816e319775b284ce1df0a15161050f9c64e7b8 |

2023.06.01 12:58 Hrdina_Imperia What can possibly await us in future for Return of Rome?
![]() | Map of ancient Middle East and wider area. submitted by Hrdina_Imperia to aoe2 [link] [comments] So, some time has passed since the release of RoR. While I am still enjoying (and furiously fuming) through the trio of campaigns on hard, I thought about what could be possibly added in far future. First things first, we do not know, if RoR is gonna be supported the same way AoE2: DE was up until now. On the other hand, there are reasons to spend development time for extra content: obviously profit + keeping the game fresh and alive for longer. Realistically, if there will be any 'soonish' content added to Return of Rome, I it's most likely gonna be just campaigns (not counting bug fixes or balance changes), the old ones remade, or completely new ones. BUT, since I am a sucker for civ expansions, I tried to create a little map for possible candidates. Do note, that the names are placed kinda loosely around the map, though I did try to place them as close as possible. The civilisation chosen are also kinda arbitrary, but I tried to go for the most well-known in ancient period, most important or at least with some decent role during the history of said area. I also focused on the Middle East, since the game is kinda Mesopotamia centered anyways. There could be case made for some more European civs, Central American or Eastern ones, but I decided to go with just this area. Legend is as follows: Black name - current civilisation already in-game Red name - likely candidate (based on relevancy, recognition, difference from current sets, etc.) Blue name - unlikely candidates (for several reasons: very little is known, too similiar to existing civ, too removed in time/distance, too much of work required, etc.) Currently, the game sports five distinct architectural sets: East Asian - 4 civs have it Egyptian - 3 civs Greek - 3 civs Mesopotamian - 3 civs Roman - 4 civs New architectural set is mostly improbable (that's why the Indian subcontinent is all blue), so I thought most easy and 'fitting' route would be to add extra civ to existing sets, so all of them contain at least 4 playable factions. If it were up to me, I would most likely choose: Mesopotamian set - Elamites or Hurrians Egyptian set - (tough one) Kushites, Amoreans or Arameans Greek set - Luwians What do you think? Will there be any content added? Any new civs? God knows. But I do enjoy the discussion nonetheless. |

2023.06.01 12:35 SrijanK Deep Dive: IBM and Hedera
![]() | Over the past several weeks, I have tried to research IBM’s involvement in the Hedera ecosystem, especially their focus on the Hedera Consensus Service and how Hedera fits into the Hyperledger Fabric mechanism, which seems to be what the IBM Blockchain Platform uses for its blockchain use cases. I would like to share my findings below: submitted by SrijanK to Hedera [link] [comments] Timeline:
From Bryan Gross' presentation on the Hedera Consensus Service: IBM blockchain started in mid 2015 when clients really began asking us our opinion on blockchain and whether or not they should get involved in it. So, we did some exploratory work and got really excited about it but unfortunately we were not able to find a distributed ledger technology that was compatible with the requirements of business - things like privacy and confidentiality, and that led us to start prototyping something that became known as the Open Blockchain and we donated the code development resource and intellectual property to the Linux Foundation, and this ultimately became the Hyperledger project in early 2016. This early adoption and insight into blockchain by IBM has helped us become the recognized leader in blockchain for business.Don Thibeau, who was on Offering Manager at IBM Blockchain prior to joining Hedera in August 2018, mentions the following in a podcast from November 2022: At IBM, my primary focus was an open-source project called Hyperledger Fabric, which helped to build permissioned networks for those different use cases, and of course, the IBM blockchain platform, which helped to make that available as a service. IBM joins the Hedera Governing Council At the time of joining the council, IBM said it is most interested in how the public network interacts with private networks. As per Bryan Gross from IBM (for some background, Bryan co-authored the HCS whitepaper, served as the IBM representative on the Hedera GC from IBM's joining until June 2020 when he quit IBM. He subsequently also served as an advisor to Hedera Hashgraph from June 2020 to Feb 2021), The most exciting part is the proposed Hedera Consensus Service. It has the potential to provide the core innovation of proof-of-work blockchains, like bitcoin and ethereum, without the performance and privacy trade-offs that are typically associated with these networks.Hedera Consensus Service makes it possible for Hyperledger projects out there to use the service to put transactions in order and eliminate the need for them to stand up nodes for transaction ordering, and they get the trust model of a public network,” Harmon said. [Source] From Hedera’s press release announcing IBM's entry into the council, Jerry Cuomo, Vice President of Blockchain Technologies at IBM, said: We are excited to join the Hedera Governing Council and explore relationships between public networks and industry-specific networks. Hyperledger has proven to be the de facto standard enterprises use to build, manage, and deploy blockchain-based ledgers. We believe Hedera could help provide an interesting way to enhance and simplify the deployment of Hyperledger Fabric in the enterprise, making it easier for groups to build and grow their networks. As a sidenote, all 9 of IBM’s representative to the Hedera Governing Council have been top executives within the IBM Blockchain Platform, clearly indicating the level of IBM's involvement into Hedera:
While we discuss IBM’s role and use of Hedera, it is critical to understand the Hedera Consensus Service, which, as can be seen above, has always been the focal point of IBM’s involvement. Hedera Consensus Service (HCS) is a purpose-built tool for creating decentralized, auditable logs of immutable and timestamped events for web2 and web3 applications. Messages are submitted to the Hedera network for consensus, given a trusted timestamp, and fairly ordered. HCS is used by applications in production to track provenance across supply chains, log asset transfers between blockchain networks, count votes in a DAO, monitor IoT devices, and more. Hedera is the first public distributed ledger that allows developers to build their own application networks (appnet), a set of computers which enable privacy but utilize the trust of Hedera’s public ledger as their consensus engine. This service takes full advantage of hashgraph’s high-throughput for speed and asynchronous Byzantine fault tolerance for security. Hedera Consensus Service can be used standalone or as a decentralized ordering service with other ledgers, such as Hyperledger Fabric, Corda, or Ethereum. IBM formalizes the HCS Model From Hedera's blog piece announcing the IBM Blockchain Platform Tech Preview - A leader in permissioned networks, original co-author of the Hedera Consensus Service whitepaper, and current Hedera Governing Council member, IBM, wants to formalize this model. To do so, they've announced the IBM Blockchain Tech Preview with Hedera Consensus Service. From the Tech Preview, IBM mentions the following: The importance of the ecosystem is what led us to join the Hedera Governing Council for Hedera Hashgraph back in 2019. Since we began our relationship with Hedera, they have done nothing but deliver valuable innovations that support and enhance capabilities within the enterprise blockchain space. With Hedera Consensus Service, Hedera provides an immutable, decentralized, and ordered log of every transaction. Enterprises, regulators, and end-users can be more comfortable about their privacy, while still enabling the decentralized trust required for their application. IBM Blockchain Platform and Hedera are blending the world of private and public ledgers. From Leemon's video introducing HCS, co-presented by Bryan Gross from IBM, Leemon mentions that using Hyperledger Fabric with Hedera's Consensus Service allows you to have the privacy of a Hyperledger private network, and the trust of the Hedera Network. This hybrid architecture takes advantage of a more decentralized network while still preserving the privacy of its participants and their transactions. The Tech Preview was an overview explaining how two separate offerings 1) the IBM Blockchain Platform and 2) the Hedera Consensus Service can work together at the application layer to support a Private Blockchain Network based on Hyperledger Fabric with decentralized ordering provided by the Hedera Consensus Service plug-in. Ultimately, the Tech Preview is a blockchain use case with enhanced auditability and public trust - putting to use the decentralized and verifiable events of Hedera Hashgraph while preserving transaction privacy within IBM Blockchain Platform. [Source] https://preview.redd.it/0rc2umaivd3b1.png?width=975&format=png&auto=webp&s=0837f00553907c3b22f50e5de617d9c6d33b0a50 Why does IBM Blockchain Platform need the Hedera Consensus Service? From Bryan Gross’ presentation on Introduction to Hedera Consensus Service: IBM blockchain platform is powered by hyperledger fabric, but Hyperledger fabric is a framework or a toolkit but it's not a running network like Hedera.. and so in order to get value from a Hyperledger fabric Network, a network operator must deploy nodes start or join a network and install and substantiate chain code. In this process, the network operator relies on three fabric components because fabric is really built in this modular way where you can swap in and out these different components to meet your use case.
Hyperledger Fabric Interoperability The Hedera Consensus Service proof-of-concept use case is providing custom Hyperledger Fabric networks with decentralized consensus on the validity and order of blockchain transactions without the need to configure a RAFT or Kafka ordering service. The Hedera Consensus Service will make a global, fault tolerant, and cost-effective ordering service available to any Hyperledger Fabric network built today. The Hedera Consensus Service provides any Fabric network the ability to order transactions with high throughput using a global network of nodes that do not need to be operated or individually trusted by the members of the Fabric network. This will reduce operational cost of Fabric-based solutions, improve resiliency to data center outages, and alleviate the need to determine who operates private Fabric ordering services per network. The Hedera Consensus Service reduces the cost of operating private networks, enables both privacy and scalability, and improves the trust model over both private ledgers and centralized servers. TL;D Conclusion Based on all the above, IBM seems to be fully invested in the Hedera ecosystem, more so with the Hedera Consensus Service which forms a key offering in its Blockchain Platform. Hedera's role in these architectures by IBM is simple. With Hedera Consensus Service, Hedera is providing an immutable, decentralized, and ordered log of every transaction. Enterprises, regulators, and end-users can be more comfortable about their privacy, while still enabling the decentralized trust required for their application. IBM Blockchain Platform and Hedera are blending the world of private and public ledgers. |
