Welcome ye all to /Scoti! I created this subreddit to display my conlang Scòti. the idea behind Scòti was inspired by the conlang Brithenig. I wondered what Latin would have become if Scotland had become part of the Roman Empire and adopted the Latin language. I used the sound changes that occured between Old English and Modern Scots and applied them to Latin which resulted in the birth of Scòti.

I got Splice’s beatmaker plugin, and it works fine using just my laptop and mouse. However when I try to use my midi controller, (akai mpk) I only get sounds from the top row of pads and it’s bank B. Is there a way to custom map the pads ? So I can use all 8?

Just started my loc journey and I’m happy that I did. When I got home I realized my half of my hair is twisted one way and the other half another way. Do you think this will be a problem some time down the line? Thought that the locs would all start twisted the same way. Also do you think that it’s weird that she twisted half of my hair in the opposite direction?

2023.06.09 23:59 zchandos My opinion on how renown should be changed/fixed.

I think most people here, the “causals” and the “top” players all can agree as it stands, the renown system is just going to be pretty awful when it comes to making new characters each season. I think as it stands, it’s fine grinding max renown for the first time but no one is going to want to do that EVERY season. Getting every statue, side quest, dungeon, is just too repetitive and not fun, especially after the first time.
My solution doesn’t have the renown for these things carry over but make it so that 100% isn’t required for max renown rewards. Add more of a variety of activities that reward renown to give the player choice in how they hit max renown. Maybe a first time nightmare dungeon completion counts towards the regular dungeon equivalent? The main point is that the worlds activities have a surplus amount of available renown required to hit max so if a player doesn’t want to click statues and would rather instead participate in pvp for example, they can.
Just give the player choice on how they hit max renown. Forcing them to click on every statue, do every dungeon is just not gonna go over well and I can bet most people will not play past season 1.
Oh also, map fog of war completion should also carry over. Thanks :)

Hello all,
A few years ago, I quit my full time job and went back to school to finish my bachelor’s after working in retail/sales/sales management for over a decade. I went back because I wanted my work to matter, I wanted to help people, and I wanted to get paid to think deeply. I ended up finishing the degree and then continuing with an M.A. in sociology. During the program, I realized that more than anything, I want to work for a nonprofit.
I graduated last month, but I’ve been applying to jobs (full and part time) on and off since March and I cannot find anything. I had one interview, but they ended up going with someone more experienced in the field.
It’s been awhile since I’ve applied to full time jobs, I understand that networking is a huge part of it now, but my only social media is LinkedIn (and Reddit) and nearly all of my contacts are salespeople. I don’t know anyone in nonprofit and unfortunately, I don’t know as much about all of this as I’d like to (though I’m learning).
I know with my sales and management background and education that I would be well suited for the right position, but how do I break into this field?
I also live in a very conservative, isolated area in the U.S. (5+ hours from major cities) and, unfortunately, this can’t change anytime soon, so the position would have to be remote as I have yet to see anything local available.
Any advice or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

It seems like our villagers spend most of the daylight hours doing chores and farming, or handling crises. Meanwhile they spend the night hours having long heart-to-heart conversations or evading monsters. They don’t seem to get anywhere near the sleep a normal person needs. In my own life I do the same, but I can afford to sleep in the following day. All things considered, it‘s no surprise that they have a food shortage.

Trying to encode an episode of a show so QuickTime Player doesn’t give me the “this file contains some media which isn’t compatible” message but it’s not letting me encode it to anything. Attempts to encode to H.264, HEVC, and Apple ProRes all result in the same above message. The mp4 already has h.264 codec but has dimensions of 3840x2160, which is what I think is causing the “isn’t compatible” message because another episode with h.264 at 1920x1020 can be played just fine, but it won’t let me convert the other episode to 1920x1020 so idk what to do. Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks.

The girl was living with her mother and stepfather(?) and she was being abused by her stepfather (he was an alcoholic). After her teacher found out what was happening, she made the girl live in her apartment. The teacher also had a sister who was married to a lawyer who helped the girl. Subtle. Scopely wanted a reason for us to bring knowhere to high levels. We all assumed they were made to counter gamma, which we already COULD counter, albeit inefficiently. But no, they wanted us to REALLY build knowhere, because they did room 5 again. They took a bunch of characters people already have and are throwing them into a new team. The reason room 5 was so bad was because it appeared so quickly, using characters people might have already built up. This new war defense team, depending on the availability/cost of the new Spider-Man, will pop up in large alliances just as quickly, and is designed to make your knowhere team useless everywhere else. You will have to use knowhere on this team. It’s just so annoying. Right when I thought a new apex team was coming into the game, I was excited. You had to have it on offense to get the full capabilities. People might take gamma off defense. There was theory crafting to be had. But no, just like wakanda for MOE or room 5/room 3 for new warriors, knowhere has met their match.

I’d like to be able to offer my players only a select few items that are available in a shop that appears at the end of each chapter. This is when the players will also level up.
The issue I’m up against right now is that I want to be able to give the players access the item list in an interesting way where they can all see what’s for offer easily. When I tried to make it look like the items were laid out on a table, it looked tacky, and it got messy trying to include the item description too. What I’m considering is making a sort of online store. I think I’d have to actually make a website where you click on the item and it brings you to a page with the description. Before I do this though, I’d love some advice. Is there some app or form that is already established for this kind of thing?

2023.06.09 23:58 Emotional_Reindeer70 Venting as I’m probably going to have to walk away from my ‘dream’ house after bad survey

My partner and I are FTB, and we found the closest we’ll ever get to our perfect home for our budget. The area we’re looking to buy in rarely has new properties come up so when this house came along, it felt like a miracle. It ticked all our boxes and more.
We went to view it a day after it was listed and it only confirmed our feelings. When we tried to get a second viewing a few days later, the seller had already accepted another couple’s offer. We counter offered but the seller stuck with the first offer. Obviously we were devastated. But a week later, the EA called us to say the buyers had pulled out and if we were still interested! I actually cried tears of happiness. And there was a whole thing with the mortgage application but I won’t get into it. After this emotional rollercoaster, everything was starting to fall into place.
Then this afternoon, we got a call from our surveyor telling us that things don’t look great. They’ve spotted dry rot and high damp readings, esp in the living room where they said the floorboards were 'springy'. They suspect the seller had their driveway repaved and it’s over the height of the DPC, which has led to rising damp.
We’re waiting for the full report and estimated quotes for repair. But I just feel absolutely gutted. There's been a hurdle at every stage and this one hurts a little more cause we're so close.
So now I’m spending my Friday night wallowing in self-pity, and getting emotionally ready to have to walk away and restart the process.
Sigh.
