Yamaha rx v383 bluetooth

I found two receivers that I may potentially be upgrading to but am having a hard time deciding which I should choose. My choices are the Yamaha RX-V477 at $90 and the Onkyo TX-NR646 at $90 as well.
I’ve heard that these Onkyo units have had reliability and update issues but this model comes with some additional features that I don’t really need but could be nice to have in the future if I choose to upgrade.
The Yamaha also comes in-box with the calibration mic and controller while the Onkyo comes with none of that. Which should I go for?

I’m 16, and have been working lot. I have ~$1500 for purchasing (rest was put away), and want to upgrade my system. I’m currently rocking Kef Q150s, a MCS 6601 TT w/ an audio technica VM540ML, and a RX-360 Yamaha amp. I’m really leaning towards speakers. I really love neutral and detailed sounds (I lean a little bass heavy). My setup is very transparent right now, and I love the sound signature. I want to keep that sound signature, but upgrade the overall quality. Any recommendations on what to get, and what to upgrade.

My current setup is an SVS SB-1000 Pro subwoofer with Audioengine A5 speakers. I’d like to upgrade the speakers to a passive set with good imaging, but I don’t need anything with impressive bass because the SVS will handle all of that. I’m planning to get a receiver with plenty of power but also an hdmi eArc connection so that I can simultaneously get rid of my sound-bar. For that I’ve been thinking of something like the Yamaha RX-V4A or SVS Prime Wireless Pro Soundbase

Have an outdoor projector setup with four speakers, two mounted near the projector and two mounted in a separate patio area. Right now I'm using a Yamaha RX-V385 with an Airport Express but looking to upgrade so I can have the projector speakers as Zone 1 and patio speakers as Zone 2.
The goal is to stream TV audio to Zone 1 and integrated AirPlay to Zone 2 at the same time but based on some quick research it seems some multizone receivers like the RX-V685 mention that "AirPlay is available in Zone2 only when AirPlay playback is ongoing in the main zone."
Any model recommendations out there that support what I am looking for?

I have been using the Yamaha RX-A2A for a year or so and love it. I just switched over from Direct TV to Roku (Youtube TV). Did this because of the cable costs and now Youtube TV has the NFL Sunday ticket.
The receiver has changed the "sound field effect" from Sci-Fi (which sounded great) to "Straight".
If I go back to the direct tv channels, the receiver will switch back over to Sci-Fi. But, when the Roku is selected, if switches back over to Straight.
I understand how I can change it to Dolby Surround or Atmos, or Straight, but I lose the ability to change it to Sci-Fi.
I just enjoy the added bass there seems to be when it is on Sci-Fi.
Anyone else have this issue? Thank you for any and all help!

I am helping a friend build a stereo, and he has $300 budgeted for the amp. He is using Emotiva t1+ towers, so I needed something to handle a 4-ohm load. I have narrowed it down to three choices, the Emotiva a2 mini, the yamaha a-s301, and the yamaha RX-a680. Both the Yamahas are on accessories4less for $300, and the a2 mini is $280. The Yamaha a680 has the ability to bi-amp, and my friend has no plans to upgrade to surround sound. What should I tell him to get? All of them seem somewhat competent.

Been having the odd occurrence of all HDMI audio output disappearing on my Strix G733ZW maybe once in every 12-18 hours of use for several months but in the last few days it's happening just about every other song playing back 16 bit .wavs using Plex client & LAN server while running moderate loads usually comprised of a 12 year old MMO, moderate to heavier load newer games, or Photoshop. The speakeoutput device isn't being muted in Windows, playback isn't stopping from the apps, I'm not losing connectivity to the AVR it's plugged into, & so far on every occurrence I can restore sound output by muting then unmuting via the media button on my external keyboard. I haven't encountered an issue like this w/ any of the other few machines I've had plugged into this AVR using the same cable while running the same apps so I feel fairly confident the issue is somewhere within the laptop/OS/drivers.
OS: Windows 11 Pro, 22H2, 1000.22641.1000.0 Display: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Laptop GPU, 31.0.15.3179 (from Nvidia w/ initial install & subsequent updates done as clean) Audio: LG TV SSCR2 (NVIDIA High Definition Audio), 1.3.40.14 (English) (got full dxdiag if that would be helpful)
I can't really corelate either the initial slight nuisance frequency of this occurring or the more recent deal breaking rate of occurrence w/ any manual driver update to the NVIDIA drivers or other application installs, but some combo of Armoury Crate & Windows Update seemed to have started deciding to stealth update drivers & BIOS(?!) & enable stupid AC features w/ no prompts around the same time.
As far as connectivity I've got the HDMI output of the laptop running via HDMI 2.0 into a Yamaha RX-A4A AVR connected to an LG 48CX. Keyboard & mouse are attached to a Razer Thunderbolt 4 dock which is in turn attached to the right most USB-C/"Thunderbolt" port of the laptop. Network is Cat6e plugged into the RJ-45 port on the laptop.
Probably a bit complex/specific of a setup, but posting on the off chance someone has run into something similar & managed to find a solution. So far I've failed to find anything promising via googling. One of the highlights of my experience w/ this laptop initially was how smooth it seemed to take to being plugged straight into my AVR via HDMI right out of the box in comparison to my "main" gaming PC & I'll be pretty bummed if I can't get this fixed.

I have a ps5 that I was running successfully through a Yamaha RX-a2040 receiver to an LG tv over coax cable using a OREI 4K HDMI Over Coax Extender.
I want to use the Yamaha receiver for another room, and this room has a very basic 7.1 setup, so I bought a Denon AVR-S970H for $400.
Problem is, now the PS5 doesn’t transmit. Black screen. PS5 connected directly to TV still works, other stuff transmits fine through receiver and OREI, but the PS5 but does not sling over the receiveOREI. I really want to keep the kids in this room and out of my hair—they love the surround sound with the PS5, and don’t really want to waste the $1500 Yamaha in this room just to keep the PS5 working well.
Any ideas?

Hello. I'm trying to set up the Roku Express 4k + to my friend's old Yamaha RX-V640 avr. There are no HDMI ports so we are using a HDMI to yPbPr+L converter. I had to boot up the Roku on a different TV and lower the resolution to 720p to get it to work without getting connection errors. It works fine now, both picture and sound come through, however, when we go to play a video off youtube or Netflix we can see the video for about half a second then we're met with an HDCP error detected. My question is could this just be a problem with the receiver being too old and not supporting HDMI 2.0 or could it be something wrong with the HDMI converter?
