2023.06.08 09:40 aphroditestherapist My McDonalds interview Experience
Note: I am a 16 year old female and live in Australia.
I will basically just note down the main points, feel free to ask questions in the comments.
- My interview lasted 5 minutes. The assistant restaurant manager asked me very simple questions (describe your self in 3 words, what school do you go to, what year are you in, whats your favourite and least favourite subject and why, why do you want to work at mcdonald’s, and whats your availability). I wore all black clothing.
- I got the acceptance email the same day (I done the interview at 4pm and I got accepted at 9pm)
- My orientation lasted around 2.5 hours and we just did online modules which took around 1.5 hours for me to complete. I also filled out documents about my personal information (address, number, TFN etc) I wore all black and so did the other people. I got paid for the orientation.
- My first training week was on fries, I got 2 training shifts then one actual shift. I got trained for dining & fries during this week.
- My second training week was on front counter, I got 2 training shifts for front counter then one actual shift at the end of the week.
- My third training week was on drive thru. I got 2 training shifts for drive thru and one actual shift at the end of the week. All training shifts were paid for.
- My drive thru trainer told me that after training we will only get shifts on fries for a few months, then we will only get shifts on front counter for a few months, then we will get drive thru shifts for a few months.
Additional notes:
- A very common question they would ask you is “why do you want to work at mcdonald’s” so I recommend preparing an answer for that beforehand.
- You don’t need to worry too much about your interview, theres a lot of turnover in fast food restaurants so they usually hire 10-15 people a month. In my case, they hired 6 people in the same week.
- I recommend checking out Stephen Patula on youtube because he has a lot of videos of himself working at mcdonald’s so you can see what kind of tasks they do, how to make and prepare the food and kind of what it’s like to work in the fast food industry.
- I was worried about learning the register and the menu so I kind of familiarised myself with the different menus (breakfast, lunch, happy meals, dinner boxes, mccafe menu etc) and what foods go in each menu. This helped me when learning the register.
- Fries is the easiest station to learn. Front counter might seem stressful in the beginning because you’re learning a lot of tasks at once but the more you do it the easier it gets. Honestly front counter is really fun for me now. Drive thru is probably the easiest station for me now.
- Drive thru person does the cashier job using a headset. At my restaurant, they also prepare (not cook) the hotcakes and wipe the walls when its not busy. Drive thru person will also occasionally help out on front counter and bring might bring the orders to the cars in the waiting area.
- When I first started I thought I wasn’t gonna last there because it was a bit stressful multitasking but I promise it gets easier. If you’re new you’re allowed to make mistakes! my trainer said it took her 2-3 months to learn the register and she is now a trainer so if you’re struggling do not worry, you will get it eventually.
- My trainer said once you get used to everything and you’re good at every station you were trained in you can ask them to train you on McCafe if that’s something that interests you.
- The most important thing to remember for your interview is to be confident, sit up straight, use hand gestures and don’t touch your hair or face. If you’re nervous it’s okay, just try your best and don’t overthink the negative stuff.
- I got paid for every shift (including training & orientation)
- The floors are wet so you must have non slip shoes. In terms of what to wear to your interview/orientation, I just wore a black button up and black pants, for orientation I wore a black long sleeve and black pants.
- If you plan on working long term (6 months+) it’s probably a good idea to make good friends there. Personally the crew members make every shift worth it! to make friends you just have to make an effort of talking to the team. In my store everyone gets along so well and they mess around a bit even near the managers (joking around, singing, casually chatting etc) You just have to make an effort to make friends.

2023.06.08 09:37 m8nman VAT refund if using bus?
I’m planning on moving from Paris to London by bus and Paris would be the last EU country i would be visiting. As far as i know, the VAT refund process is only available in the airport or train station. Does that mean bus-users are simply not able to request for VAT refund, or is it possible that i visit the station/airport just for the VAT refund and take the bus regardless? Would appreciate any help 🙏

I have been trying the Innisfree Cherry Blossom Tone-up Cream for a few days. The tone-up effect doesn't last long. I notice I'm back to having my dull, textured, blemished (acne) skin. The mild white/brightening effect disappeared. Could it be due to sweat? I live in a hot and humid country and I inevitably sweat after a 10mins walk to the train station.

2023.06.08 09:16 Kadoomed Fed up with people obsessing over more car parking spaces
All I ever see in my area are surveys saying we need more cheap car parking or people complaining about the lack of parking, instead of using their brains and realising there's just too many cars making unnecessary journeys.
More public transport and improved active travel are how we get people into town and cities, not more parking. But no, everything has to be about the car.
There was a big event yesterday looking at how to regenerate the main thoroughfare in Aberdeen and one of the solutions is more parking. Every bus in the region goes down this street and it's 5 minutes walk from the train station! It needs a bike lane not a car park!

Hi, I’m planning to visit Japan with my wife from June 22 to July 2, both inclusive. Planned the whole trip alone and needed a second pair of eyes to help me with some questions.
The whole trip plan is Tokyo → Kawaguchiko → Kyoto → Nara → Osaka → Tokyo, which takes 11 days (10 nights), includes 5 different hotels and 2 Shinkansen rides to and from Tokyo.
Day 1: June 22 (Arrival to Tokyo, Check-in, Shinjuku):
- Arrive at Narita Airport at 18:30 in the evening
- Train to the hotel in Shinjuku and check-in
- Explore Shinjuku district (Kabukicho area and Golden Gai St.)
Day 2: June 23 (Shinjuku district):

- Just walk around
Day 5: June 26 (Kawaguchiko day trip):
- Check-out early morning (~06:00)
- Bus to Kawaguchiko station and check-in
- Arakurayama Sengen Shrine
- Chureito Pagoda
- Kachi Kachi Ropeway
- Rent a bike
- Oishi Park
Day 6: June 27 (Kyoto):
- Check-out early morning (~06:00)
- Shinkansen to Kyoto and check-in
- Ninenzaka Street
- Starbucks Ninenzaka
- Kiyomizu-dera Buddhist Temple

- Nishiki Market
- Mameshiba Cafe
Day 7: June 28 (Kyoto):

- Togetsukyo Bridge
- Iwatayama Peak

Day 8: June 29 (Nara & Osaka):
- Check-out early morning
- Train to Nara

Day 9: June 30 (Osaka & back to Tokyo):
- Check-out from the hotel in the morning
- Explore Osaka for the rest of the day
- Umeda Sky Building
- Osaka Castle
- Shinsekai District
- Shinkansen to Tokyo in the early evening
- Check-in to hotel in Ginza
Day 10: July 1 (Tokyo):
- Godzilla statue
- Tokyo Tower
- Senso-Ji Temple
- Tokyo Skytree
Day 11: July 2 (Departure):
- Check-out from the hotel early morning
- Have fun in the Ginza area until lunchtime
- Train to Narita Airport at 13:00
You can see that a couple of days are not filled as the rest of them, and are just being used for having fun without a strict plan, as I could not come up with anything for those days on my own. My wife and I are not interested to visit popular stuff like USJ or Ghibli Park, or shopping, so it’s only exploring the cities and their attractions. We travel with two carry-on suitcases and on some days will be bringing them with us for the walks around a city (not a good idea?)
The only things booked for now are the hotels. I am not sure if I need to book Shinkansen and bus rides right now already, or if I should wait to get to Japan first. Also, I think we will not need JR Pass as we only travel on Shinkansen two times (to and from Tokyo), and the cost of those tickets will be cheaper than buying JR pass. I am not sure about route Kyoto → Nara → Osaka (does it benefit from JR pass?)
Also, what is the best way to get from Kawaguchiko to Kyoto in the early morning? Going down to Mishima and taking the train, or going back to Tokyo by bus and taking the train from there (which is faster according to google maps)?
What do you think? Please feel free to give any advice or recommendation on places and transportation. I am open to anything.

2023.06.08 08:33 Cutek-Circuits6062 The Unyielding Power of Vandal-Proof Metallic Keyboards
| In a world where durability and reliability are highly valued, one type of keyboard stands out among the rest—the vandal-proof metallic keyboard. Designed to withstand the toughest of conditions and resist malicious attempts at damage, these keyboards have become a symbol of resilience and longevity in various industries. In this article, we will explore the features, benefits, and applications of vandal-proof metallic keyboards that make them an ideal choice for environments where durability is paramount. Vandal-Proof Metallic Keyboards Unbreakable Construction Vandal-proof metallic keyboards are built with a sturdy and robust construction. They feature a solid metal frame, typically made of stainless steel or aluminum, which provides exceptional strength and rigidity. The metal casing protects the internal components from external forces, making these keyboards resistant to impact, vandalism, and harsh environmental conditions. Whether it's in industrial settings, public kiosks, or outdoor installations, these keyboards can endure the most demanding situations without compromising performance. Resilience Against Vandalism Unlike traditional keyboards that are vulnerable to deliberate acts of vandalism, vandal-proof metallic keyboards are designed to withstand abuse. They feature specially engineered keycaps that are resistant to scratches, fading, and tampering. Some keyboards even come with a protective layer that shields against liquid spills, dirt, and dust, ensuring long-term functionality even in challenging environments. The keys are securely mounted and cannot be easily removed or pried off, providing an added level of security against malicious intent. Enhanced Hygiene and Easy Maintenance In environments where cleanliness and hygiene are critical, vandal-proof metallic keyboards offer a distinct advantage. Their non-porous surfaces make them easy to clean and disinfect, reducing the risk of bacterial or viral contamination. With the ability to withstand harsh cleaning agents and frequent sanitization, these keyboards are widely used in healthcare facilities, laboratories, and food processing industries. Furthermore, their sealed construction prevents the accumulation of debris and prevents the growth of mold or bacteria. Versatile Applications Vandal-proof metallic keyboards find utility in various industries and settings. They are commonly employed in outdoor public terminals, ticketing systems, self-service kiosks, and industrial control panels. These keyboards are also favored in transportation sectors, such as airports, train stations, and bus terminals, where high traffic and constant use require a resilient input solution. Additionally, their compatibility with diverse operating systems and connectivity options makes them adaptable to a wide range of applications. Vandal-proof metallic keyboards represent a remarkable fusion of durability, security, and functionality. With their unbreakable construction, resilience against vandalism, ease of maintenance, and versatility, these keyboards have become an indispensable solution in environments that demand steadfast performance. As technology advances and industries evolve, vandal-proof metallic keyboards continue to empower organizations, providing them with a reliable input device that stands the test of time and ensures uninterrupted productivity in the face of adversity. submitted by Cutek-Circuits6062 to u/Cutek-Circuits6062 [link] [comments] |

2023.06.08 08:08 JackFrostsKid I wish my mom would just stay in jail
I feel bad even thinking that, but it’s true. In just under a month, I’ve come to realize just how much stress she actually brings me, and how much trauma I’m constantly reliving because of her actions. Not only that, but I think having been in jail may have actually been somewhat helpful to her mental state.
I won’t get into all of the details, but a short history of our relationship is as follows:
She started using meth quite regularly years before I was born, and although she stayed sober while pregnant, it colors our relationship to this day. At age 6 she was charged with the neglect and abuse, of my brother and I. We would from that moment on, live with her mom (my grandma). At age 8 she came to grandma’s house and threatened to kill her, and kidnap my brother and I. She’d be arrested, but no charges were brought against her. From then until age 12 we’d see her sporadically for supervised visits, many of which she didn’t attend. When I turned 14 she started suffering from meth psychosis , one of the main symptoms of long term meth use. Because she was less grounded in reality, she was much more dangerous to be around. While she had never actually attacked, only threatened to do so, in the past, she became much more ready to fight anyone, including Grandma, my brother and I. For safety reasons, a protection order was granted, and we cut all contact with her. I still have nightmares about some of the things she threatened to do to me. When I was 16 (2020) I got a call from CPS stating that my little sister had been found with my mom in the middle of the road, starving and surrounded by needles. Up until that point, I didn’t know I had a sister. She was 2 weeks old then. I was given temporary guardianship over her, and eventually, my aunt would legally adopt her. I ended up missing a lot of school to get my sister to doctors appointments, court hearings and CPS visits. I very nearly dropped out if I’m being honest.
Now I’m 19, and in college, although; I’m home for the summer. Twice now, she’s shown up at our house unannounced, with a stolen car. The first time, it took police 5 hours to get to the house and arrest her. While she wasn’t acting violently, she wasn’t all there, and was yelling at me for killing her daughter (I think she was referring to my sister) and stealing something to the tune of $800,000 from her. When police finally arrived, meth was discovered on her person, and it was revealed that she was driving a stolen car without a license.
She spent a little less than a month in jail, during which I called her somewhat regularly. For the first time in my life, I knew where she was, and that she had a roof over her head, and food. She was given medication to help manage the hallucinations, and overall, seemed ok She very much was not happy, but she was the safest she had been in a long time.
Today she appeared at the house again. She spent some moments in reality, and others very much not so. She switched from yelling at invisible voices, to yelling at me for pimping her out, stealing money or killing/selling into sexual slavery my sister, to telling me she loves and misses me. It was frankly exhausting. When I called the police, I was informed that they would not be coming again. She had hitchhiked, so there was no stolen car, she was threatening me, and apparently my restraining order had expired when she was in jail. No crimes had been committed.
It took a long time, but eventually we convinced her to go back to the city. My brother and I drove her to the nearest train station and bought her a ticket. She asked that we print out a picture of my brother, my sister and I, before she left, which we obliged. It breaks my heart to send her down there knowing she has nowhere to go, but I don’t know what else to do. We’ve put her through rehab multiple times, grandma used to pay her rent so she wouldn’t be homeless so long as she stayed of meth, we’ve all offered her jobs, and to pay for therapy. Nothing has worked.
If she were in the right mind, she wouldn’t be a danger to us. We are no longer reliant on her. I know that she loves my brother and I and her whole family, but she’s at the point where she’s absolutely convinced that we’re out to get her, and that she must retaliate with any means available to her.
At least when she was in jail, I could still contact her safely. She was detoxing, and more often than not grounded in reality.I could hold a full conversation with her for the first time in years. I knew she was being fed, and that she was at least somewhat safe. It feels mean, but I really just wish that she would just stay in jail.

2023.06.08 07:49 MrsCaptainFail Rejoining workforce
Has anyone worked in food safety as an inspector for several years then quit to be a SAH parent then rejoined years later? Has it been hard or impossible?
I have 3 years experience in a county health dept and will have about 3 years working at the state level with all my FDA trainings done when I would need to quit and I have my MPH degree. Childcare will be almost impossible where we are currently stationed for what our jobs would demand and I’m concerned I won’t be able to rejoin the field later.
