Is there a app that can take notes in math using Desmos type of input. for example typing / after something renders the division line automatically without having to type latex and typing * makes a dot and int makes integral sign.

2023.06.10 10:30 Big-Research-2875 DNA Replication and Gene in action in Eukaryotes

DNA REPLICATION IN EUKARYOTES

DNA replication is semiconservative;

During DNA replication, every DNA strand could be a example for afresh strand. The pairing needs between purine and pyrimidine bases dictate the positioning of nucleotides in a very new strand.
Thus, every new DNA molecule contains one strand from the recent DNA molecule and one recently synthesized strand. as a result of 1/2 the recent molecule is preserved within the new molecule, DNA replication is alleged to be semiconservative.
DNA REPLICATION IN EUKARYOTES

GENES IN ACTION;

Transcription;

A sequence are often outlined as a sequence of bases in DNA that codes for the synthesis of 1 peptide, and genes should somehow transmit their info from the nucleus to the protoplasm, wherever macromolecule synthesis happens.

Translation;

The synthesis of associate ribonucleic acid molecule from DNA is named transcription and also the formation of a macromolecule from ribonucleic acid at the cell organ is called translation.

Types of RNA;

Three Major varieties of ribonucleic acid Each of the 3 major varieties of ribonucleic acid contains a specific role in protein synthesis and is made within the nucleus from DNA.
Messenger RNA (mRNA) could be a linear strand that carries a collection of genetic directions for synthesizing proteins to the protoplasm.
Transfer RNA (tRNA) picks up amino acids within the protoplasm, carries them to ribosomes, and helps position them for incorporation into a peptide.
Ribosomal ribonucleic acid (rRNA), in conjunction with ribosomes, makes up protein.

2023.06.10 09:58 TheKaki007 d4 is soulless and empty shell compared to d2/d2r

As a kid i played a lot of diablo and d2 (have the originals disks in boxes still), when d2r came out it was instabuy and i played so much and had so much fun.
i played all the open betas of D4 and i realized how much shit it is compared to d2, like the the mw2 there is no sense of progression. In mw2 there is skill based match making which mean that i always struggle and even if i get better the game it puts me against people of my level or above so i never experience "easy" games, its always a sweatfest and i 100% regret buying it (although it was highly recommended when released) .
D4 is basically the same, i didn't felt that my character getting stronger and the game is always on my level, like mw2. This whole game design philosophy is unfun, it should be a game not a chore.
After the immense disappointment from D4 betas i returned to D2R again and it's just feels better to level up and get gear, i return to lower level areas and i dominate the hellspawns.
and i haven't mentioned:

maybe ill pick D4 for 30$ on sale in couple of years but i don't think its worth even that....

2023.06.10 09:48 Its-a-me-DankeyKang Madden 24 Beta is Madden 23 with slight adjustments

Basically, headline: who would've guessed?! I'm always happy with positivity. I've seen a few posts here (like the franchise one recently) hype up about things added - and I will say they could be slight adjustments- but they honestly are not a huge overall change. Being able to adjust age progression/regression shouldn't be heralded as a great improvement. This seems like small dev things that they made consumer controllable. When I saw commish tools, I was thinking of something like actual reconfiguring an NFL league as a sandbox... why did I think that? Idk because of optimistic expectations from their vague wording in their original email months ago when leagues crashed in the first place. Saying "customization in your hands" is such a salesman pitch of leaving it to the imagination. And then we got what we got. The one thing that is a reconstruction is turning off HFA.
Gameplay is slightly improved from a few H2Hs but game is still buggy. I'm still buying because I love the CFM group. We're also one of the many leagues that crashed and so half price is easier. NFL still needs to cut this crap out because EA hasn't cared in awhile and it shows.
TL;DR: It's Madden 23 with minor adjustments. Simple changes shouldn't be praised. Just know its a slightly better experience via gameplay, not franchise.

2023.06.10 08:57 DR4NKR1D3R turtlesim teleport_absolute problem

I'm trying to create pong game in turtlesim in Python. I'm using ROS2 Humble.
I'm running timer function, that is my game loop.
self.timer = self.create_timer(1 / 30, self.game_loop)
In that function, I'm detecting scoring a point
if self.ball_pose.x > 10.5: self.get_logger().info('Computer scored.') self.send_teleport_turtle_request() elif self.ball_pose.x < 1.0: self.get_logger().info('Player scored.') self.send_teleport_turtle_request()
send_teleport_turtle_request function
def send_teleport_turtle_request(self): self.teleport_turtle_request.x = 5.5 self.teleport_turtle_request.y = 5.5 self.future3 = self.teleport_cli.call_async(self.teleport_turtle_request) rclpy.spin_until_future_complete(self, self.future3) return self.future3.result()
Here is code (i removed parts, that aren't necessary to understand problem, full code is here https://github.com/KlaudiuszSoltysik/turtle-pong/blob/main/game/game/game.py ):
class Game(Node): def __init__(self): super().__init__('game') # CONNECT WITH TELEPORT SERVICES self.teleport_cli = self.create_client(TeleportAbsolute, 'turtle1/teleport_absolute') while not self.teleport_cli.wait_for_service(timeout_sec=1.0): self.get_logger().info('Service not available, waiting again...') self.teleport_turtle_request = TeleportAbsolute.Request() # RUN GAME LOOP FUNCTION self.timer = self.create_timer(1 / 30, self.game_loop) # GAME LOOP FUNCTION def game_loop(self): self.get_logger().info('Game loop function is running') # COMPUTER TURTLE AI if self.ball_pose.y > self.computer_pose.y: computer_msg = Twist() computer_msg.linear.y = 2.0 self.computer_pose_pub.publish(computer_msg) elif self.ball_pose.y < self.computer_pose.y: computer_msg = Twist() computer_msg.linear.y = -2.0 self.computer_pose_pub.publish(computer_msg) # DETECT SCORING if self.ball_pose.x > 10.5: self.get_logger().info('Computer scored.') self.send_teleport_turtle_request() elif self.ball_pose.x < 1.0: self.get_logger().info('Player scored.') self.send_teleport_turtle_request() # MOVE BALL ball_msg = Twist() ball_msg.linear.x = self.vel_x ball_msg.linear.y = self.vel_y self.ball_pose_pub.publish(ball_msg) def send_teleport_turtle_request(self): self.teleport_turtle_request.x = 5.5 self.teleport_turtle_request.y = 5.5 self.future3 = self.teleport_cli.call_async(self.teleport_turtle_request) rclpy.spin_until_future_complete(self, self.future3) return self.future3.result() def main(args=None): rclpy.init(args=args) game = Game() rclpy.spin(game) game.destroy_node() rclpy.shutdown() if __name__ == '__main__': main()
Video:
https://reddit.com/link/145t33j/video/2jt7slhm055b1/player
What I know:
  1. game_loop() stops running after send_teleport_turtle_request()
  2. turtle continues to move, but it is related movement from last time game_loop() was running
  3. sometimes I'm getting error after teleporting (qimage::pixel: coordinate out of range)
  4. I tried to call send_teleport_turtle_request() without async, didn't work, but maybe I did sth wrong
  5. I tried to call send_teleport_turtle_request() from subscriber to ball position, same issue
  6. I think I need to pause self.timer before teleporting and restart after future is done

2023.06.10 08:31 anoobsters help! WebGL build just has the default blue screen and UI and that's it!

I'm trying to do a WebGL build for a project and the final build is just the default dark blue background with a white outline of where my UI popup/start button is supposed to be. No sprites show or anything. It seems like my triggers are working through because my popup does disappear when I click in the right area. I've tried editing my player color space settings from gamma to linear (saw that online) but that doesn't let me build because it says it requires WebGL 2.
Any help is appreciated please this has me so stuck!! Thank you!

2023.06.10 08:15 ajplant Survey design for opinion change

Thank you for your help in advance.
Let's say I am curious about what statements will shift peoples opinions about a company. My basic survey design is as follows
"Q1) scale of 1 to 5, what is your opinion of X company (1 hate, 5 love)
Q2) Here are 5 positive statements about the company, please rate from 1 to 5 how much you agree with each statement (they will rate each one).
Q3) Here are 5 negative statements about the company, please rate from 1 to 5 how much you agree with each statement (they will rate each one).
Q4)scale of 1 to 5, what is your opinion of X company (1 hate, 5 love)"
Now, if I wanted to see which statements shift peoples opinions the most, I would regress the ratings of the statements with the numerical change in opinion (using ordinal logistic regression).
My question is, should I use two samples, one sample I will only show negative statements to, and one only positive, to avoid the positive and negative statements cancelling each other out in peoples mind, making it hard for me to see which statements have a strong affect on shifting opinions.
Thank you again

2023.06.10 08:08 Able-Safety8626 Struggling to rationalize and stay in control

I've become very good at stopping and thinking before I act out, which took a lot of work. I'm struggling as of late though and it feels like I'm taking a step backwards. I think what triggered this regression is being "love-bombed" by someone I grew to trust without me realizing it for what it was. It went on for months and I fell for it. Then I got ghosted, and I only found out he got with his friend from a social media post hahaha.
Anyways, I was very careful during my time with him. I never was too clingy, didn't often double-text, made sure he didn't feel bad for being busy or going out with female friends (even if I was losing my mind on the inside). Communication was open and direct and I never did anything irritating or suffocating he just lost interest ig. The logical side of me knows that I didn't do anything wrong and it was just a decision he made. The emotional part of me is absolutely tearing me apart, telling me it's all my fault (how could you trust him like that, you ruined it, he treated you just like you needed and it's never gonna happen again, blah blah)
I didn't do anything about it, all I did was say "I understand" and remove all points of contact. But while I didn't lash out at him I'm struggling to contain all the rage and sadness in my body. I am most upset by the fact that the constant love-bombing and affection is what I need. I feel hopeless thinking about it because it will never last; they'll get bored and I'll still love them.
Since I'm moving out of state, I don't currently have a job so I have nothing to distract myself with. I'm just stuck in my own mind. My job was demanding and for two years it cut me off from the few friends I had. I'm all alone. I'm 19 and doing nothing a young person should and I hate myself for missing out. I am autistic and extremely socially anxious so I'm unsure on how to make new friends. I'm so scared of going out in public, too.
The isolation protects people from me but it also makes me worse. I can't stop myself from lashing out at my family members. I'm going back to what I used to be except this time I'm aware of it. I could really use some advice on how to regain control.
I'm also trying not to split on someone right now. She's been my friend since the 5th grade and one of my only girlfriends. She's very important to me but because of my job we never hung out. She is also a very dry texter which makes me feel like I'm bothering her. Last time we talked while playing Minecraft and it was like we were never apart. She's the sweetest girl and she said we had to have some kind of weekend together before I moved. Since then she hasn't reached out and hasn't replied to my messages. This has happened before and it's been fine but my brain is SCREAMING that she hates me and never even wanted to hang out.
I'm obsessing over everything that's happened in the past few months because my brain won't stop trying to find a mistake I made. I feel so cut off from people. I've come a long way but I still struggle socially. I still need help. My brain is split in half and is starting a war inside my own head. How do I break the cycle? I don't ever even feel awake- just feels like I'm a bystander watching me destroy everything. I don't want to be a bad person again.

2023.06.10 08:08 madhav1113 How can/do large language models like GPT produce contradicting answers?

I was experimenting with ChatGPT the other day and noticed something interesting.
Question- Why is it required or recommended to check distribution of input features before using them in a machine learning algorithm?
Answer - " Different machine learning algorithms make different assumptions about the data they operate on. Checking the distribution of input features allows you to verify whether these assumptions hold for your data. For example, linear regression assumes that the predictors are normally distributed, and if this assumption is violated, it can affect the validity of the model and the interpretation of the results. "
I followed up with my next question.
Question- Does linear regression require that predictors are normally distributed?
Answer- No, linear regression does not require that predictors (also known as independent variables or features) are normally distributed.

My questions are not with respect to the assumptions of linear regression but with the contradictory answers produced by ChatGPT. Why does that happen? What is/might be going on in the language model that I get two completely opposite answers?

2023.06.10 07:40 TableOdd4689 If we’re gonna root for one side or the other we need to be objective guys

Team Ben: Pros: Ben is smart, he loves Devi, Does big grand gestures for her that help her significantly, and is in her corner when it counts
Cons: Was an asshole to Devi the whole series, ghosted her, called her unf*ckable, made fun of her being disabled, made racist remarks, and purposely says her name wrong
Team Paxton: Pros: Loves Devi, Is almost always in her corner for the whole series, forgives Devi for her mistakes, understands Devi, whenever he calls her crazy or insults her, it’s after she’s wronged him he doesn’t do it because he can, puts their relationship on hold for Devis sake
Cons: F-boy, Pretty toxic for parts of the series, Dumb as hell, tries to make her do his work, underage drinking and encouraging Devi to do it (not directly), pushing Nalani’s boundaries, regresses all devis done for him
So yea, let’s be objective and and not kiss Mindy’s ass

2023.06.10 07:30 Electric-Gecko What would be a good set of principles for macro-level wealth/revenue distribution?

Under Georgism, people get to keep the money they earned through productive activities, while wealth absorbed by the surroundings is shared. At least this is the ideal which a Georgist taxation system should come close to. But the next question is, how widely should the land value tax revenue be shared?
This isn't a discussion about global distribution. Right now I want to focus mainly on how revenue should be distributed between administrative divisions within a single sovereign entity. Can we have a similar set of principles for what kind of land value should be kept local, and what kinds should be redistributed further? The rules that are used for this would have an effect on regional migration.
I know that some people here favour a flat percentage being distributed between multiple administrative levels of government, and aren't interested in anything more sophisticated. If you are one of them, this is not the discussion for you.
The land value captured in a land value tax can have a variety of causes. Some of it is from natural factors, such as weather, fertile soil, water bodies, views, etc. Some of it is from man-made sources, such as nearby roads, restaurants, museums, shops, services, electricity, water infrastructure, etc. Some of it may be just by having many people nearby, as that means more potential customers. From what I've read, it may be possible to get an estimate of the relative contribution of these factors using multiple regression. Trying to make it detailed enough find the contribution of individual businesses and other organizations is likely to run into some correlation-causation problems, and become gameable as a result, but I suspect that it can be used to get a decent estimate of the contribution from natural factors, and the combined contribution from man-made factors. Should some sources of land value be largely kept by the municipality, and some spread further to the rest of a state?
The one thing I can comfortably say should be spread further is rent from natural resource extraction. Therefore you don't need to live in the municipality where the resources are extracted in order to benefit from the revenue generated. However, this would be captured by a different tax. The simplest approach is an auction on the right to chop down a set of trees, or to extract mineral resources at a given site. In the taxation system I envision for Canada, & perhaps other federations, a majority of this revenue, perhaps 75%, would go to the federal government, with the remainder going to the provincial (or state) governments. Each province would have a land value tax on private property, with the revenue split between administrative divisions (ie municipalities) and the provincial government based on principles we can discuss below.
Some of you may have seen my previous post where I propose a system to distribute land value tax revenue between the administrative divisions where they are collected and the state government. This method results in municipalities with more land value per-capita having to give away a larger percentage. I have since done much mathematical research and work on the idea. Here is a newer version of the formulae. However, there are concerns that my system doesn't allow cities to benefit enough from the their capital investments, as too much of the gain in land value would have to be given away to another government.
One solution to this would be to feed 100% of revenue from natural sources into this formula, but only a portion of that from man-made sources, with the rest going directly to the municipality. It intuitively makes sense that municipalities should be taxed at a higher rate for naturally-occurring land value than artificial land value. However, wouldn't this result in municipalities doing less to protect their natural sources of land value? To protect their water and soil from pollution, as having it intact causes more money to leave the municipality? I feel like my formula is good enough at preventing this for cities with average land value per-capita, but not for those at the extreme high end. Unfortunately, the principle that cities should be rewarded for protecting their natural wealth largely contradicts the principle that cities with more natural wealth should be charged more. So I don't know if it's possible to do better.
Another option would be a system where municipalities register their capital investments, and then they get a larger share of the revenue until those investments are payed off. But this doesn't work for services.
What would be a good set of principles for deciding how much revenue a municipality gets to keep, and how much it should give to higher levels of government? What are some factors that can be involved that give good incentives while allowing a significant degree of equalisation?
Should capitalization rate be a factor?

2023.06.10 07:27 Sea_Helicopter2153 First time owner with a fearful puppy. I don’t know if we’re a good match

Had my first session with a private trainer today to address my 15 week old puppy’s fear, anxiety, and reactivity to big city noises. She did great with the trainer, but seemed to regress with me when we tried the same thing.
I live in nyc, and I brought her home from a very rural part of the US (nothing but farmland) at 12 weeks old. She’s great at home, at the park, and with new people and dogs, but getting to the park is a chore. She’s so easily started at every typically nyc noise that she hears, and thats when we take the route that she’s familiar with.
When we take a different route she tenses up and quivers most of the way. If any of the nyc noises appear she’s freezes or runs off the way we came trying to get home. If there’s anything new in the area she’s often afraid of that too, and it yields the same result.
We can’t even walk around the block without me having to carry her 1/3 of the way, so I haven’t been able to do any city familiarization at all.
I’ve been thinking that maybe but city life just isn’t for her. I’ve resolved to give it an earnest effort and work with certified trainers to get her where she needs to be. But what if none of that works? At what point is keeping her here just selfish of me?
She walked around the block like w champ with me and the trainer. I mean she was still wary, but she walked the whole way herself and it was mostly fluid. But trying the same route 3 different times afterwards did not work. We didn’t even make it around the corner (and I live in a corner building) before she just shut down.
Now I have to wonder if this is further proof that I am just not equipped for this challenge…
I waited so long to get a dog too

Level 3 - Moments of Transition
Hit Level 3. Normally wouldn’t post that, but this community is genuinely helpful - and can keep me “accountable.”
This is a weird place in the DS journey. Intermediate’s speed makes earlier ones feel slow, uncomfortably so. Playing them at 1.5x, 2.0x, with brief bouts at 1.0x to hear the “original.” Thought this might’ve been a pride thing: “can’t just go down a level, must justify it somehow” etc, but can still understand at the higher pace. Even vids I’ve never watched.
So far it’s not as intimidating as I thought. Don’t understand everything, but not lost either.
The lack of a structured curriculum works. No chapters to complete, no questions to answer, just get that input. Helps me embrace the whole “getting comfortable with uncertainty.” So many different topics, don’t have that crutch of: topic A leads directly to B leads directly to C, or learn addition, then multiplication, which is just a faster addition.
Under no illusions that this will be quick. Roadmap says to take this progress so far and double it to the next level, then double everything again. Must 10x in total to hit that Level 7. Parabolic, not linear. It’s accurate so far. Paused in the middle of a Sandra vid (I see now why her return was celebrated) after noticing more abstract terms, to check the Roadmap description. “You start learning more abstract terms…” Eerily accurate.
Thanks to all who wrote about their experiences, and who commented on other threads with advice. Makes the path smoother for those who follow.
This will take time, but it feels as if a firm foundation is being laid.

2023.06.10 07:17 Pupcake3000 I finally have a consistent method that has allowed communication between the UAPs that surround the skies near me at night.

Just about every night I will go out for a period of time to see if the UAPs are still engaging near me. One thing I've noticed is that I've been having an increase in day time sightings equal to the ones at night. The most common UAP are the star like UAP that zig zag or stop, and the spheres which I believe are always in the skies just not always on an easy visible spectrum. The last 3 nights I have been trying to listen to certain music and sounds in the ear that has the varying frequency change. As soon as I did that and used my strobe flashlight, I in return will have some of the stars brighten as much as a supernova would. It is not a visual hallucination or atmosphere related effect. There also has been a consistent strange background noise during these times, it sounds almost like whale songs. They will react and do these actions only when I combine my side and try to do it in a pattern. These UAPs or whomever is operating them are highly intelligent and I imagine I'm on the dolphin side compared to their higher level of cognitive function. I believe their communication isnt linear like our language. I believe it is a vast combination of stimuli as well as communication that is based off their functioning outside of a linear time life. Just thought I would share and am curious if anyone has had anything similiar happen to them or if you have tried communicating physically outside ever. Btw, if what I'm feeling is correct, their will be a large simultaneous event where they will be seen in a way that will be undeniable to the masses. There is importance for there not to be any undercutting their existence.
