2023.04.01 00:21 North-Inspector-5828 Cortisone Before Race

Been dealing with some runner's knee. Nothing major and I can get through my runs but I had it checked out a few weeks go by an orthopedist. He confirmed a pretty straight forward case of runner's knee with no damage to the area. Normal pain and load management with some improved stretching would do the trick BUT he did offer a cortisone shot a couple weeks before the race.
Do I go ahead and get the shot? Never had one before. Is that cheating? haha. Also - my last 20m run my knee started to give out at mile 18. I didnt even think about getting the shot before but that had me thinking about it.
What's peoples thoughts about cortisone shots before a race?

2023.04.01 00:20 StepwiseUndrape574 Should I upgrade to Stand Ultimate?

I bought Stand Regular a few months back and since rockstar are adding security features or have added security features. I was wondering if I should go the extra mile and upgrade my key to have access to everything the menu has to offer. However, I am unsure if I should do it as rockstar may add more security features in the future and I don't want my money to go to waste if mod menus become a thing of the past. What do you think though? Should I upgrade my license to Stand Ultimate or stay at Stand Regular?

How does this 2010 RRS Supercharged Engine sound? Any sign of the timing chain issue?
Hi - I’m talking to the owner of a 2010 RRS SC (5.0) with about 150K miles on it. He sent me this video and I’m trying to determine if it potentially has the dreaded timing chain issue. He’s not located close to me so I’m trying to do my due diligence before going up to meet him. Thanks

2023.04.01 00:20 TrueQQ Every play I make seems to be a foul?

This is my first NBA game and I'm definitely struggling. To me it seems every action I try to do results in a foul and I dont know if its me or the game (probably former)? Whenever I try to contest a dribble or pass with X (Xbox controller), I get a reach-in or magic foul. Whenever I shoot, I get a shooting foul, whenever I defend, I get 3-second or some other foul.
Can anyone give me tips on what to do here? I'm actually scared of pressing any buttons other than shooting as that seems to be the only thing that doesnt faul 70% of the time. What is expected of me here? Should I not ever contest someones dribble or pass, is that something that's not really done on basketball?
I'm so lost sorry, appreciate any and every advice. If I can't make it better significantly, this game doesnt seem too much fun to me as i feel like i'm at a red light every mile.

2023.04.01 00:19 sqrrl7 What should I be looking for?

I am looking for a daily trainer. But, for my situation, I am not sure what kind of shoe I should be looking for. This will be for about 4 months of marathon training. This will be my first marathon. Only been running for a year.
Just a little preface, back in December, I ran my first half marathon. The last few weeks of training prior to it were bad, and I had to end it. Didn't run for 2 weeks prior to the race. I was dealing with really bad shin splints. These were in my upper shins - the upper part of my lower leg. I say that because my new shin splints moved down into my ankle and 2-3 inches above my ankle on the inside of my lower legs - both legs. I did a lot of researching and it seems to be an MTSS type of shin splint. Most of my trainings were done in the Asics Gel Nimbus 24.
I didn't pull out of the race because for the week prior, I saw a friend who is a PT/Athletic TraineSports massage therapist. He did a bunch of work on my shins, calves and achilles. I did a lot of elevation, icing, stretching, etc prior to the race. Felt amazing the day before and day of the race. I ran the race in Nike Vapor Fly 2. I had no issues with my shins or anything for that matter. Felt amazing. Didnt get a great time (2hrs 8 minutes) because I didn't run for 2-3 weeks prior. But, there was no remanence of shin splints during the race or after.
I didn't run for about 4 weeks after the race. Just stretched and walked. I felt amazing during it all. My first run back, I ran 2-3 miles. Felt great. Just a little stiff due to not running for a while, but no muscle issues. Worked out during the week and the following weekend I ran an easy paced 5 miles. Again, felt amazing. But, the next day it felt like I had sprained ankles. Everything from my ankles up to my lower shins were really bad. almost had like a bone bruise feeling on the side of my lower leg a couple inches above the ankle. But, the location of my previous shin splints were perfect. No pain or tightness in that area.
Anyways, fast forward to almost 3 months later, and I am still having issues with these shin splints/sore ankles. It is better but that is because I have ran in a while. It still feels bruised in certain spots. I've done light half mile jobs here and there and while the pain isn't really there anymore, there is a tightness that makes it feel like it will get aggravated any minute and bring back the shin splint/sprained ankle feeling. So, I am still going to take it easy for a few more weeks.
I don't need to start marathon training until like July. But I do want to get a good base back before I start training. But, In the meantime, I want to make sure I am using the right shoes and wondering if what I am using right now is causing it/or not helping, and also what I should be looking for when purchasing a new daily trainer for my marathon training.

Here is what I currently have:
  1. Asics Gel Nimbus 24
  2. Asics Noosa 14
  3. Asics Novablast 2
  4. Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22

I would say about 90% of my runs were in the Gel Nimbus, and the least amount of time spent would be the Noosas. Idk about the Novablasts. They are comfortable for walking around and running errands, and taking to the gym. But for running, they feel like clown shoes and it feels like it messages up my stride, cadence and overall running form.
Is there anything out there that you think would be best for my situation? Also, should I be focused on stability shoes or neutral? Plus/extra cushioning or first/less cushion?

Thank you!!

2023.04.01 00:18 shanmalan 23F [friendship?] Hello there

Hey there sweet stranger, I'm bored and tired of life and maybe you're in the same situation. If that's the case, let's talk, the two of us could spend hours doing references to books none of us have read, drinking wine together miles away from each other and asking ourselves why Pedro Pascal is suddenly so hot.
I'm waiting for you :v

2023.04.01 00:16 skybegantoscream I don’t want to live a life where people are disposable

I hate that we have so many people enter and exit our lives that we can just disregard 99% of them on a whim. It bothers me that I’ll straight up stop replying to someone new I met because carrying on a conversation over text feels demanding, that I’ve slept with people where it actually felt intimate and we agreed to see each other again knowing we both don’t want to be the one to reach out, that I’ve fallen out of touch with people I’d known for years because the friendship was no longer geographically convenient. I’m in my early 20s and the stories my parents told of keeping in touch with and visiting their childhood friends as they developed their adult lives hundreds of miles apart feel borderline unrealistic in this age. Too many people I used to care for in some way have become nothing but another post to scroll past and I don’t know how to fix this. I want to get off social media entirely and redirect focus to my actual life but it also feels like a social death sentence since this is just how things are now and not regularly broadcasting that I still exist makes it worse. Just floors me sometimes how I ‘know’ so many people but am close to so few.

2023.04.01 00:16 redcabbagepatch I let a family member borrow my RWD vehicle

Said family member slammed on brakes to avoid an animal sitting in the middle of the road and when they did, it led to a rear tire blowing out resulting in them losing control and smacking a curb, CRACKING the entire rim. The car and tires are fairly new with <10k miles and the road he was on has a speed limit of 35-40mph (eg. non high way speeds). I’ve never really heard of a rear tire blowing out from slamming on brakes in a modern day car with ABS, let alone at city limit speeds so this was very odd to me.
I get anything can happen, but I’m not a mechanic so I would like to know what the likelihood of something like this happening is….Because I have a suspicion said person may have been driving it a bit different than stated.
Can a tire really blow out from just slamming on brakes (assuming it wasn’t significantly damaged)??

African Energy Metals (CUCO.v NDENF) provides diversified exposure with a range of assets located in Africa, a resource-rich yet largely overlooked continent
Africa is a resource-rich yet largely overlooked continent, especially when looking at Mali, a diversified and mining-friendly jurisdiction and Africa's 4th largest gold producer. Plus, the DRC is one of the most resource-rich energy metals countries in the world. The abundance of mineral resources present on the continent puts Africa in a mining spotlight and African landholders in a favourable position.
African Energy Metals (CUCO.v NDENF) provides diversified exposure into a range of metals with assets in both Mali and the DRC and an upcoming polymetallic acquisition from Goviex (GXU) for its licenses, known as the Falea project, totalling 225 km2, has significant potential with an existing, NI 43-101 compliant, uranium, copper & silver resource.
The Falea Project is located in close proximity to B2Gold's (BTO) producing Fekola mine as well as IAM Gold's (IAM) Siribya Deposit.
CUCO additionally has an early mover advantage in the DRC and an extensive portfolio of lithium, tin, tantalum & rare earth properties with six, 100% owned and strategically located concessions in the southern DRC Copperbelt covering over 176 square km.
These concessions are located directly adjacent to Tantalex Lithium ($TTX.c) whose trend is believed to extend onto CUCO's land as well as in the same region as the world-class Alphamin ($AFM) tin mine which currently produces 4% of the world’s mined tin.

2023.04.01 00:14 Hiitchy Snow Belt Kona EV's

Hey folks,
New to this subreddit and I tried searching but only found one thread from 3 months ago. I live in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario, Canada, and was wondering if anyone in this area, or in the snow belt for that matter could tell me more about how their Kona handles on the road with winter tires, or even tell me how charging is impacted in the cold.
I'm looking for as much information before I consider a purchase and have gone over everything from changing the reduction gear oil, putting the magnetic crush washers on, being aware of the potential for the 12v battery to die and so on. In terms of winter conditions, is there anything I'm missing other than winter tires?
I look forward to hearing from all of you! If you think there's anything I need to know other than my concerns here, please feel free to let me know. I'm trying to do as much research as possible before I purchase my Kona. For any information, I'm looking at 2019/2020 Ultimate package Kona EV's between 60-80k KM's.

2023.04.01 00:12 yromeM_yggoF Would a Fit be a good choice?

I currently drive an 04 Suburban, and it’s reliable as can be, but at 300k miles, the gas prices are killing me. I’m looking for something used, and here are my criteria.
Right now, I’m looking at the Fit, 8th gen v6 accords, and possibly Fiesta ST’s. I’m looking at something I can pick up used with relatively low’ish miles for around $14k or less so I can have low monthly payments.
So, how do you think this car would…Fit…my needs? ;)

2023.04.01 00:10 h3r3now Home charging question

We had a Nema 14-50 installed in 2019 (car is late 2018). Since then, we couldn’t really get a consistent full charge (90%) even overnight when other electronics are asleep in the house. The last few weeks, we can’t get a charge past 1 mile. One electrician said it’s because of our outlet brand - Leviton, which is known to not keep up with the high heat level of charging. The previous installer says “The most common reason for tripping like you are experiencing is the GFCI portion of the circuit….best case scenario is switching to hard wire EV…”
Do we just spring for the hard wire install? Or is there some truth to the brand of outlet scenario? Also, anyone else have/had similar situation?
Thanks!

2023.04.01 00:06 Square-Cupcake The dumpster fire that is Hyundai

So I am the owner of a really nice 2019 Sonata limited with about 40,000 miles on it. I really like the car, but I’m getting worried. There’s the theta engine issue / lawsuit that’s costing them billions per quarter. Now municipalities are suing them over the theft issues. Am I crazy to think Hyundai might get sued out of existence and not be able to honor their warranties? I’m thinking of a flight to quality. First should I sell or keep it and if you think I should sell - what is your recommendation for a comparable vehicle? I can add money beyond the $21,000 that Carmax is offering me but I’d rather not go too crazy. Thanks in advance!
