I am big into animals, especially reptiles and cats. I own two snakes (a hognose and a ball python), two tarantulas, and two cats. I used to be very big in the reptile community (modding, social media, etc) but I "retired" from it and now just enjoy my peace with my pets. I believe all animals should be loved equally, except mosquitos. Those guys are TRASH.
I also love video games, anime/manga/movie streaming services like every other person on r4r - big surprise there right? I love casual games like Minecraft, Pokemon, Skyrim, Fallout, etc. I don't like competitive games really, the most you'll ever see me compete is some ARAMs on League. For anime/manga, I love Berserk, Ancient Magus Bride and Junji Ito (or anything horror really). For shows I'm currently watching: Queen Charlotte, Bridgerton (rewatching), Oshi no Ko, and Demon Slayer.
I love anything creative. Drawing, writing, creating characters, etc. Art is one of my main hobbies and I put a lot of time and effort into it. I mostly doodle or paint these days.
If you read this whole thing, great! It's a pretty good window into who I am. I would prefer if you included a picture of yourself in your intro message as well as a few tidbits about yourself. 41/m, I write as many paragraphs/lines as I feel are needed. Dialogue can be a paragraph or less, scene setting can be five or more. It doesn’t matter a lot to me so long as you’re interested and invested in what we do. If you’re not, say something and we’ll change it up.
I’m on UTC-5, or Central Time, US. I work night audits right now, so I’ll have a lot of downtime. Available times are between 5pm to 10:30pm, then 7:30am-10am Sunday-Thursday. If you’re up late, or work nights, I can always post during work.
I’d like to see your posting frequency to be at least once every other day, though if you’re making huge posts where you take your time, a couple a week is fine. Or several a day! I can post at least 3-4 times daily, depending.
I am chill about this. How good your writing is isn’t that important to me, though I’d love a sample. I write as best I can because I love writing. I just ask you speak to me if there’s a concern, rather than just run and block. I can adjust, but I would rather solve a problem than cut someone out of my life.
Here’s the first image I had of the setting:
Iceland. Perspective suspended in the air over the sea, facing the top of a cliff with a jagged fissure in it, just a few hours before sunset.
"The sun is a starburst of tarnished brass, too old to be gold, too soon to be scarlet, suspended just above the edge. The scattered grasses than lean off the ledge are emerald and look warm to the touch, but just slightly. The air holds the breath of winter within it—the sharp points within a velvet pincushion.
The maw of the cleft is dark. Aged fingers of sunlight reach within, feeding the nesting birds the warmth of its final hours. Flits of feathers echo amidst song shared and repeated by rocks and gulls.
Move down, and the schism narrows, too tight for sunny fingers to squeeze through. Bird calls can still be heard, but now also the ocean that breaks against the rock. The curve and tooth of moss and stone twist the crash into new sounds, hollow and whispering of what else the dark hides.
The cliff itself grows in your periphery; the color of coffee met with cream. It is faceted like the edge of some primitive blade, so that it does not crumble to sand when struck, but cleaves into knives and needles. The surface is a sea of waves in desert hues, each crest a razor to the palm.
Down further now, nearing the tide that grows louder, the gap of black only as wide as your arms outstretched. There are no birds now, but if your eyes adjust, bundles of bats can just be seen, shuddering and stretching as they rouse to fly with the evening stars.
Down, and down, narrower and narrower, louder and louder, until a short tunnel forms, large enough for four men to stand abreast, with four more on their shoulders.
At the end of this short journey, within the cacophony of a hundred waves breaking a hundred shores, there is the very top another tunnel, which would surely be revealed at lowest tide.
A shimmer of golden torchlight dances there like a hearth fire, brighter and warmer than the remains of the sun.”

My character has no name, but is called “Aesir” after Norse tradition. He is a man that is not a man, with silver eyes, hair long and black and wild, fair skin and dark furs that cover it. Wings blacker than his hair appear as needed, ethereal, each feather that of a peacock, yet where fake eyes would be, real eyes watch, prismatic and shining in judgement of good or evil.
He does not know how to speak, but can share feelings and visions to convey his intent, in a way he has done with few others.
His purpose is to protect the locals from evil airs and spirits. The people rarely catch sight of him, but are grateful for his work; they place charms to invite his protection: of a pair of raven feathers with two rainbow eyes painted on the wide ends, strung together to the striker of a silver bell, that when the wind blows, the chime rings out to him.
Possible stories we could write together:
A woman—your creation—crashes her ship at the cleft in the rock, needing rescue or saving herself, suddenly standing before him in his cave.
A resident of a local village seeks him out, in search of his help or in gratitude. Perhaps she is declared evil unjustly, perhaps she simply needs to meet him herself.
An arranged companion, selected from the community, to help him in his work protecting the local villages.
In all cases, he will show himself to you, because you are different, in a way you define.

I’m on UTC-5, or Central Time, US. I work night audits right now, so I’ll have a lot of downtime. Available times are between 5pm to 10:30pm, then 7:30am-10am Sunday-Thursday. If you’re up late, or work nights, I can always post during work.
I’d like to see your posting frequency to be at least once every other day, though if you’re making huge posts where you take your time, a couple a week is fine. Or several a day! I can post at least 3-4 times daily, depending.

Iceland. Perspective suspended in the air over the sea, facing the top of a cliff with a jagged fissure in it, just a few hours before sunset.
"The sun is a starburst of tarnished brass, too old to be gold, too soon to be scarlet, suspended just above the edge. The scattered grasses than lean off the ledge are emerald and look warm to the touch, but just slightly. The air holds the breath of winter within it—the sharp points within a velvet pincushion.
The maw of the cleft is dark. Aged fingers of sunlight reach within, feeding the nesting birds the warmth of its final hours. Flits of feathers echo amidst song shared and repeated by rocks and gulls.
Move down, and the schism narrows, too tight for sunny fingers to squeeze through. Bird calls can still be heard, but now also the ocean that breaks against the rock. The curve and tooth of moss and stone twist the crash into new sounds, hollow and whispering of what else the dark hides.
The cliff itself grows in your periphery; the color of coffee met with cream. It is faceted like the edge of some primitive blade, so that it does not crumble to sand when struck, but cleaves into knives and needles. The surface is a sea of waves in desert hues, each crest a razor to the palm.
Down further now, nearing the tide that grows louder, the gap of black only as wide as your arms outstretched. There are no birds now, but if your eyes adjust, bundles of bats can just be seen, shuddering and stretching as they rouse to fly with the evening stars.
Down, and down, narrower and narrower, louder and louder, until a short tunnel forms, large enough for four men to stand abreast, with four more on their shoulders.
At the end of this short journey, within the cacophony of a hundred waves breaking a hundred shores, there is the very top another tunnel, which would surely be revealed at lowest tide.
A shimmer of golden torchlight dances there like a hearth fire, brighter and warmer than the remains of the sun.”

My character has no name, but is called “Aesir” after Norse tradition. He is a man that is not a man, with silver eyes, hair long and black and wild, fair skin and dark furs that cover it. Wings blacker than his hair appear as needed, ethereal, each feather that of a peacock, yet where fake eyes would be, real eyes watch, prismatic and shining in judgement of good or evil.
He does not know how to speak, but can share feelings and visions to convey his intent, in a way he has done with few others.
His purpose is to protect the locals from evil airs and spirits. The people rarely catch sight of him, but are grateful for his work; they place charms to invite his protection: of a pair of raven feathers with two rainbow eyes painted on the wide ends, strung together to the striker of a silver bell, that when the wind blows, the chime rings out to him.

A woman—your creation—crashes her ship at the cleft in the rock, needing rescue or saving herself, suddenly standing before him in his cave.

so i’ve recently (about five months ago) started collecting pokémon cards, my newest set being scarlet and violet, and i noticed that scarlet and violet paldea evolved came out, and i couldn’t figure out what the difference is between different sets. for example, i have cards from two sets from the sword and shield era, being silver tempest and lost origin. they are both under the sword and shield name, so what’s the difference between them? does every set have ALL different cards, and if so why do they go under sword and shield, and scarlet and violet.

In the winter of 1452, the 64th year of King Armelin De Etearn, the Demons of Azrakim Angel of Doom flooded up from the south into the lands of Etearn. . .
The strong kingdom fought bravly, and many heroes faced the darkness of Armageddon with the valor of ancient heroes. . . But it was not enough... The demons slaughtered their way through the armies of the king's vassles, and besieged the throne city, Etearn, herself. While the city was besieged, the provinces were at the mercy of the Demons, and thousands were killed, each Province was forced to retreat into their strongholds, or build new ones. Fighting great battles the warriors of Etearn's provincial lands prooved their worth in battle, standing strong against the horrors of the enemy. As the winter solstice passed, the sky turned black, storms of red lightning and burning blood torrented the whole kingdom for nine days and nights... upon the morning of the tenth day, the sun rose, and the demons were no where to be found. Only the corpses of their servants, and the shattered husks of demons slain littered burning battlefields. Riders came to the city of Etearn, finding the remains of a titanic battle, the Castle blasted to ruins, Prince Ethroin lay dead, among his fallen knights, and the remains of many foes, while the king and Azrakim were no where to be found, only the ashes and dust. The crown was shattered upon the alter of the High Gods... Scattered survivor knights reported stories of the King standing blade to blade against the Angel of Doom himself before the final night but none saw the killing blow.
5 years have passed, with the scattered survivors of the provinces and heartlands working to rebuild in a time of uncertainty, the roads have long faded away, the villages are abandoned, and the Lords squabble for resources. Starvation and depravation are the norm, and compassion is in short supply. Opportunistic monsters and brigands stalk the woods, and the watchful nights close in. . .

2nd Month of Spring, 1457, 5th year of the Ruin Crown.
This tale begins with the lord of the Northern lands, Alfred of Yorvik. For months the region of Yorvik had suffered raids on their supply lines and scavenger group. The need to conserve warriors due to mounting tensions with nearby Highmoot left the Lord of the North seeking private contractors for aid. This he found in prominent men, the First of whom was a local Scholar, Aillen from the Mournlands. With Aillen went also Zormo who was well known even now for his ability to aquire wealth and artifacts, and the Grander Knight Gallus Ironside and his Retainer Mugrush Gabnor.
These four were dispatched to the scrubblands south west of New York to discover where the attacks were coming from.
There they found an ancient crypt sealed by magic runes. It was Aillen who shattered the spell with the chant of the Duraga kings, a song he recalled from his mourner youth. Inside the crypt they came upon their supposed quarry, a troop of undead led by an a death knight. Mugar rose to the fore to challenge the dark champion as the company battled the host.
Aillen wove a firestorm shattering bones to dust, leaving scorch trails in the stone. The mighty Gallas Ironside stood a wall of warrior might, that weilded sword and foe alike as weapons. Then Zormo took up the earth itself, a stone and with a great heave felled two foes.
Mug and the Dark undead warrior paced through the battle the unarmed orc blood warrior steadily broke into a dead sprint. The Death knight raised its blade to skewer the warrior but the mighty Mug dodged aside and took hold of the Dead ones blade. With a heave he struck the sword like a thunderbolt, shattering the brittle steel. Then Mug lifted the undead warrior high and tore it asunder, casting it from him. So another blade was added to the collection of Mug Blade Breaker...

The Greatwoods were long the charge of house Leonidan, and High Marshall Harold has stood in the vanguard of that fight since birth. From the west, the demon host did not come, and what threats have come out of the greatwood have been utterly smashed upon the great scarlet shields of the Lion Knights. During the invasion, Marshall Harold fought both the great beasts of the west, and the hordes of the demons flowing from behind him out of the capital, the defenses held, by the gods they held. During this dark time, Harold allowed Orc and man to fight as one, and his Lion Knights have earned the respect of the Orc warlords in battle. Some call him a traitor, more call him a hero.

I’m trying to remember the name of an old browser flash game, where you can choose a variety of spoofy characters with an array of abilities/ultimates battling over territorial control over a type of dice? board game. It booted up on a yellow I would say, gameboy and you could choose to play story or, PvP up to 4 players. Of the characters I could remember were Mario, “Monster” (Pokemon) Trainer, Master Chief/Samus, and Level XX Elf/Archer? ”Mario” ‘s ability was I think teleporting across the game board, Monster Trainer was a girl and whoever choose her, you or opponent, spawned monster boxes that helped whoever got it. Finally, I remember if “Master Chief” lost/died (got caught in the enemies’ turf and was confronted by them) yelled “Bury me with my gun” and had a campaign ending of her removing her mask. The one that made so much sense story wise was “Level XX Elf” ‘s ending were when they finally leveled up lol. I’m sure there is no way to play this game anymore, since it was a old promo game for a website like Escapist Magazine or something, but it’s been bothering me finding the name of this game, especially how hard is to search for it, and I believe I did come across a screenshot of it months back as a flashback article on how ridiculous, yet addicting the game was! Thanks in advance for you cyber sleuths out there!

I was curious how everyone feels about scarlet and violet and paldea evolved quality control? I have pulled almost all of the chases out of both sets and every “big” card I pull has print lines, some have whitening, and edges are beat up. Out of a everything I’ve opened I’ve got zero gradable cards. Im about to switch over to collecting Japanese until these issues stop.

I'm doing a Genlocke and I'm doing Pokemon Red. I need help on which movesets I should put on my Pokemon. I'd beat Erika then decided that I'm going to Rocket Hideout for mostly EXP for Koga and the Silph Scope. So before I fight Giovanni or even after, I need a good moveset for the rest of the game.
My current team is: Ivysaur,Nidoking,Raichu,Gyarados,Kadabra and Eevee.
The team I plan to have is my current team all fully evolved except Eevee being replaced by Snorlax.
Also keep in mind that it also has Hardcore Nuzlocke rules too.
