So many ages ago when I was playing Age of Empires, the very first mission of Caesar's campaign was to wipe out a fleet of pirates. I lost a few times and I remember the Defeat screen saying that because Caesar used his own private fundings for the military expedition, he is pardoned and won't face imprisonment, loss of military and political leadership, and nmnost importantly a lawsuit from the Roman government for loss of warships..... But it sstated something the Republic will take over in battling the pirates since Cesar's defeat alerted the Senate just how big of an issue the pirate attacks are. When I won the campaign, it emphasizes just how big a boost it is to Caesar's career that he managed to wipe out the entire pirate coalition.
In addition I finally watched the entire Once Upon a Time In China series for the first time in completeness rather than just stopping at the 3rd movie the last few times I seen the film over the past decades. The 4th movie had Jet Li on the mission to capture the pirates and he doesn't simply use the police but gets an entire militia and round up 50 volunteers so they can capture one of the heads through abn unexpected ship counterattack. He then uses the captured pirate leader to gather intel and attack the pirate base with an elite cadre of volunteers and then continues holding the elader hostage awaiting for the rest of the pirate fleet to attack the enarest town in retaliation for ransacking their unprotected base and in expectation they will try to free their leader by attacking the local prison. He has the complete militia force of over 200 to fortify the town and a big battle takes plae as over 400 pirates besiege the town.......
So this makes me wonder........ Were pirates so huge a deal that not only do local militaries like Jet Li's character in Once Upon A Time in China have to mobilize a military force to defend against them but even a brilliant military mind like JUlius Caesar have to be sent in sometimes to battle them?
Oh I almost forgot, Ben HUr even has a battle between Greek pirates and the Roman Navy that ended with not just the ROman deeat but the Admiral's ship being destroyed and it kicks off the whole reason why Massala was even able to become a charioteer. Because he saved the admiral from drowning, the Roman militaryman takes him in as an adopted son and gives him funding to become one of the best chariot rider throughout the whole empire.
Is this actual realistic? That actual professional navy could lose to a bunch of ragtailed pirates in an engagement?
For a long time I couldn't believe Caesar actually had been sent to fight pirates until I learned recently the event was real. And ditto with the idea of a Roman fleet facing defeat from pirates.......
Just how far fetched is Once Upon A Time in China sending Jet Li to mobilize a militia to defend a community from pirates? Was piracy really the big a danger?

I am rewatchig the whole series (watched the show every week until season 7 back when it was on TV) and I just wanted to share how magical I feel the first few seasons are. Yea most of it is probably nostalgia, but right now I am on season 1 episode 3 and WOW! I forgot how amazing these episodes were. The music and the whole vibe was so different from the later seasons. The moment when Rick meets up with the group outside of Atlanta and realizes he stumbled upon his best friend, wife, and son by chance is such a great moment. Some of these early seasons had some of the most iconic and memorable moments. Watching it again brings me back to the days when my mom and I would watch this show every week.
Sorry for the ramble, I just wanted to get this off my chest. Do you guys feel the same way? And if so, what are your standout moments from the early seasons?

Today I had a conversation with someone I really love. It went to a bunch of weird places. Some days they are very open to me. Other days they are like a mystery. Sometimes it feels like I am talking to three or more different people. I think it’s trauma. I don’t know. This person was one way last week and another today. It was like a complete 180. I felt them pushing me away, trying to convince me that they’re not worth my time, when the other day they were very much wanting and needing the affection I had to offer. (I’m fine!) This is a long-standing pattern with someone I love greatly. And I finally had something click in my brain: the way other people are is not because of me. The way this person is has nothing to do with me. Is this the way that normal people think??? I feel like I have just watched an exploding star and I am witnessing the deep truths of the universe. Do other people just move through life with the awareness that other people are separate beings, and that I am not responsible for everyone’s moods, thoughts, feelings, experiences? I feel like I am TRIPPING right now. TRIPPPPINNNGGGGG! I think I just became aware that I am a separate self and that other people are the way they are , it has nothing to do with me, and I am finally understanding what it means to not take things so damn personally. So, I'm getting into wrestling, and finding it rather difficult to watch everything i need. I started at 1985 because it seemed like the earliest Peacock would get to, and Wrestlemania 1 seemed like a perfect place to start.
But peacock doesnt have any Superstar episodes before 1992, and I learned that the hard way watching Saturday Night Main Event #11, seeing Randy Savage save Steamboat from Hercules only to double-down and confirm his intentions to take the title from him. Only to tune into the next episode and find Randy Savage about to challenge the Honky Tonk Man for the intercontinental title. I had to dig up on the wiki what happened by looking up the HTM's page and seeing that he got the title by beating Steamboat in a superstar episode. But Peacockc doesnt have those episodes.
But because the wiki is terrible at just showing what episodes were playing all at once. I have to manually look up the individual shows themselves, which requires me to already know what shows i'm looking for.
So i have no idea what I'm missing.
Currently I'm watching Wrestlemania & Saturday Night Main Event. I tried watching Superclash and King of the Rin, but they honestly looked pretty boring and unimportant, but if i am missing something, i'll check them out.
Right now, I'm in 1987, but i've just finished Saturday Night Main Event 12, so all I got left to finish for this year, AFAIK, is just SNME 13 and Survivor Series 1. But no idea if Survivor is worth it or not (I give each show an hour before i decide if it's worth it or not)

I apologize in advance. Things have calmed down some but I'm still feeling emotionally raw and may not make perfect sense. Longtime reader from afar, first time sharer. I'm perhaps needing some help seeing from my sister's perspective as she is very angry and calling me an AH which I very well may be.
My husband recently finished treatment for bone cancer. He's on the mend but chemotherapy destroyed his immune system. His treatment team still warns us to isolate him and to take what measures we can to keep him from catching even a cold.
This was perhaps not the smartest of me, but my sister had to work this weekend (this was a surprise to her) so I agreed to watch my niece and nephew on Saturday. Things were going fine until my niece got sick around lunchtime. I thought perhaps it was an anomaly and laid her down but to be safe started disinfecting. She got sick again and within 30 minutes my nephew was also sick, and both had low-grade fevers.
I don't want to make excuses but I was panicking. Trying to get them cleaned up, disinfecting as I went, my husband left to get electrolyte drinks and medicine for the kids. Over the course of an hour I texted my sister 5 times and left her a voicemail saying her littles were sick and she needed to make arrangements for someone to come get them right then. She finished out her workday and came and got my niece and nephew who at that point had both been sick for a couple of hours, poor babies.
Things have calmed down. I felt nauseous Sunday - Monday but other than that I think my husband and I dodged their potential bug. But since Saturday my sister has not stopped criticizing me for texting/calling so much while she was at work. I understand her job is important.

P.S. I realize the obvious solution would be to call other family members. My husband's family is out of state and my parents were moved into a full-time care facility two weeks ago, which has been an ordeal that my husband and I have been juggling (getting their house repaired, sold, etc.) so there really was not anyone else to reach out to. The children's dad is not in the picture. I did not have anyone to call at that time.
EDIT: I forgot to mention our 2-year-old was also thankfully spared and did not get sick. My husband kept our son while I handled the sick ones.

Emotional moments in Steins Gate 0 hit like a truck since you thought this was the continuation. Hououin Kyouma's return arguable hit harder in this route
The pacing is not terrible contrary to popular belief. In Episode 23 you are introduced to a new way to win after he pretty much lost. With this route it just stagnates and builds towards a more impactful climax
It makes Steins Gate 0 really feel important instead of a DLC type thing.

Anyways, I'm a nursing student in my 20's, but I'm thinking of studying business instead. I never dreamed of becoming a nurse before, and I never had a real dream career that I really want. Well, I wanted to be an astronaut or archeologist when I was a kid, but my family trashed these dreams and I'm too stupid to be an astraunaut and too poor to live as an archeolosgist so I just went with my life without any passion, other than wanting to have a gf. When I was in high school, I wanted to become a carpenter because I wanted to build a house for this girl who ghosted me (but then I started to really love carpentry because I love working with my hands and seeing my accomplishment). Then i wanted to be an airline pilot because of the movie called "catch me if you can: and because, again, of a girl who lives in different country. I also wanted to do advertising because of the ad project that I made for my history subject and because of Mad Men. But I was so worried about job security and money. The reasons why I choose to study nursing are because of job security, good pay and benefits, most of my family and relatives are in the health care field, and because I can easily get into this program.
Transitioning from highschool to college was hard for me. I felt like I just went to university because of the stress that I felt. I wasn't prepared, I didn't know how to study properly, and I didn't know that I have ADHD during that time. Then I got motivated to study, improve my note-taking skill, and let go of my bad habbits that I had when I was undiagnosed. Fast forward to today, I'm still struggling to study in general. But I feel like I can do my courses for this program, but I just don't know how to properly study. Then I heard few stories from my professors about what nurses should do, and I think it is too much of a work. So I thought of changing my program, and study business or maybe engineering.
I talked to my family, learning and guidance counsellor, and professor about this decision, and they all told me to really think about it. I really did, but I was still afraid to let go of nursing, because it made me feel secure with my future.
Then earlier, a thought came up in my mind. A reason onto why I wanted to study business, and it's different from wanting to get out of nursing, wear suit, and make a lot of money. "I wanted to learn how to manage my money because most of my family and relatives just work hard, but never invest or save their money." I thought it was just another idea and it didn't convince myself. I'm still worried about my math skill and how I can get in the business program in college/ uni, but I found math very interesting when I went to math tutor in my campus.
Then I watched Dr. K's video on career advice, and it really helped me to find my "passion", or I guess a motivation to really study. I was thinking of carpentry or civil engineering, but after he said and explained the word "competing interest", I thought of my previous idea. Doctor K just assured me. I though drinking alcohol from yesterday would help me decide my plan, but I just cried, told myself that I better figure it out as soon as I can, and it only made me fall asleep, lol.
I still don't know why I can't do the same thing in nursing, and why my reasons of choosing nursing just faded away. One of my cousin didn't want to be a nurse, but she did because of financial reason. My mom said she likes it now, but I'm not sure. I also don't know if I just don't like to be a nurse anymore or I'm just looking for an easy way out because I'm struggling in school.
I now owe the government $4,000, but oh well.

I find it strange that Syn has said that he hates singing, and that he won't sing lead even if he was to do a solo album considering most of the falsetto harmonies are actually him, and he actually does belt out actual singing sometimes (Seize The Day highs live post-Rev, Planets, Afterlife, all the falsetto in Beast and the Harlot and Seize the Day, etc.), plus while Jimmy was the best singer aside from Matt, Zacky has a crazy good voice and has sang lead on covers. Hell, even Johnny handles a lot of the screaming live now.
