Gourmetslagter elev m. Speciale i delikatesse

2023.05.30 21:11 superbomb122 I simulated u/TheGeorgeKelly's Bizarro-verse Super Bowls to see who would really win

Credit goes to u/TheGeorgeKelly for the original post. I absolutely loved the alternate history concept, but I found the methodology for the winners and lack of scores a bit unsatisfying. To resolve this for my stat junkie brain, I booted up WhatIfSports simulation and spent the morning simulating every Super Bowl since 1970s with the runner's-up to find out who really comes out on top in Bizarro World. The results and game MVPs are below:

Season Winner Loser Score MVP
1970-71 Oakland Raiders San Francisco 49ers 34-17 OAK WR Fred Biletnikoff: 4 rec, 140 yds, TD
1971-72 Baltimore Colts San Francisco 49ers (2) 26-15 BAL RB Norm Bulaich: 15 att, 72 yds, TD, 2 rec, 26 yds, TD
1972-73 Dallas Cowboys Pittsburgh Steelers 10-6 PIT CB Mel Blount: 2 tck, 2 INT
1973-74 Dallas Cowboys (2) Oakland Raiders 21-20 DAL QB Roger Staubach: 14/22, 165 yds, 2 TD, INT, 5 att, 14 yds

1975-76 Los Angeles Rams Oakland Raiders (2) 23-10 LAR RB Lawrence McCutcheon: 20 att, 89 yds, 3 rec, 11 yds
1976-77 Los Angeles Rams (2) Pittsburgh Steelers (2) 17-7 LAR QB James Harris: 17/28, 297 yds, TD, 4 att, 6 yds
1977-78 Minnesota Vikings Oakland Raiders (3) 20-17 OT MIN RB Chuck Foreman: 26 att, 109 yds, 4 rec, 59 yds, TD
1978-79 Los Angeles Rams (3) Houston Oilers 23-10 LAR QB Pat Haden: 13/24, 182 yds, 2 TD, 3 att, 25 yds
1979-80 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Houston Oilers 15-13 TAM RB Ricky Bell: 20 att, 64 yds, 3 rec, 19 yds, TD
1980-81 San Diego Chargers Dallas Cowboys 21-17 SD QB Dan Fouts: 21/32, 307 yds, 2 TD
1981-82 San Diego Chargers (2) Dallas Cowboys (2) 43-21 SD QB Dan Fouts: 22/24, 250 yds, 3 TD
1982-83 New York Jets Dallas Cowboys (3) 39-17 NYJ RB Freeman McNeil: 22 att, 135 yds, 2 TD, 3 rec, 77 yds, TD

2022-23 San Francisco 49ers (5) Cincinnati Bengals 19-13 SF RB Christian McCaffrey: 15 att, 144 yds, 2 rec, 10 yds
Some notes:
- Most rings: 49ers, Rams (5)
- Most losses: 49ers (6)
- Most appearances without a win: Browns (3)
- Most appearances without a loss: Jets (4)
- Most appearances: 49ers (11)
- No appearances: Giants, Texans
- In real life, the Giants have not lost a post-merger conference championship game, while the Jets have not won a post-merger championship game. The opposite is true here, with the Jets also having 4 post-merger rings like the Giants IRL. Funny how that worked out
- The Vikings' 1978 Super Bowl win came from their kicker making a 36 yarder as time expired in regulation and then a 46 yarder as time expired in OT. Yep, this is the Bizarro world alright.
- 2 MVPs in losing efforts (Mel Blount and Ricky Watters)
- 4 defensive MVPs (Mel Blount, Fred Dean, LeRoy Irvin, Chris Jones)
- Mark Sanchez has as many rings as Ben Roethlisberger and Brett Favre and more than Aaron Rodgers, John Elway, and Peyton Manning combined. The same goes for Jimmy G, but that's less funny.
- Most wins by a QB: Joe Montana (1983-84, 1990-91, 1993-94), Tom Brady (2012-13, 2013-14, 2015-16)
- The state of California won 8 Super Bowls in 12 years from 1973-74 to 1985-86. This includes the Rams dynasty you never knew existed. Go look up Lawrence McCutcheon. Right now.
- The Lions won a Super Bowl. That is their most recent playoff win.
- The Bucs got a ring in year 4, the Jags got 2 by year 5. Wild performances from expansion teams.
- The Cowboys still haven't made a Super Bowl since the 90s.
- I think I prefer reality to losing 4 Super Bowls in 7 years as a zoomer Packers fan.

2023.05.30 20:12 HypotheticalChicken Meet the Cast and Crew

Just who are making all these Dicey Decisions?
I'm glad you asked!
Scott: DM and creator of Dicey Decisions. College professor in the real world, certified amazing everywhere else. Corin: The producer and behind the scenes wizard that keeps the stream flowing while we are busy role playing. Brandi: Marketing, Social Media, and Graphic Design. Brandi is a maladaptive daydreamer-teacher-fantasy author with an infamous stubborn streak and questionable addictions to social media and graphics software.
That brings us to our players... in no particular order and with minimal fanfare we have...
Name: Daniel Character Played: Garrick Stillbraid, Half-Elf Paladin Occupation: Healthcare Data Analyst First TTRPG: D&D 1st edition TTRPGs Played: D&D (1e - 5e), Pathfinder 1e, The One Ring, Star Wars (Fantasy Flight), Star Trek Adventures Favorite TTRPG Character: Izar Goldbranch, Half-Elven Acid Savant Sorcerer (D&D 3.5e) Favorite TTRPG Memory: After an Orcish citizen was found decapitated in their home and the party trying their damndest to not let racial tensions boil out of control, I accidentally set off a blood brawl with some unfortunate (and completely coincidental) wording: "Everyone calm down. There's no reason for anyone to lose their heads." Other Hobbies: Film, Theatre, Sports, Cooking, Professional Wrestling, Video Games (especially Open World Games) Fun Fact: My first semi-regular artistic gig was writing for a short-lived Miami-based wrestling promotion in the late 1990s.
Name: Amanda Character Played: Ashrina Gemmender, Gnome Rogue First TTRPG: D&D TTRPGs Played: D&D & Call of Cthulu Favorite TTRPG Character: My first ever D&D Character I made- Eloise the child rogue. She was a little hobo who stole and hoarded every piece of food she could get her hands on. I think about creating her for a full length campaign all the time. Favorite TTRPG Memory: I once "ruined" an encounter that was meant to overwhelm us in wave-style combat while one of our members was channeling a 10 minute spell with a wall of fire spell that I circled around the party thus rendering all the baddies useless as they burned up passing through the wall. Other Hobbies: Bowling, Video Games, random crafting Fun Fact: I have two giant dogs, a Great Dane and a Great Pyrenees and between the two of them they weigh 300+ pounds and consume 10 cups of food a day.
Name: Jack Character Played: Sliver, Human Bard First TTRPG:TTRPGs Played: Favorite TTRPG Character: Favorite TTRPG Memory: Other Hobbies: Fun Fact:
Name: Sean Character Played: Kid, Half-Elf Rogue Occupation: Paid geek First TTRPG: AD&D 2E 3E 3.5E 4E 5E, Pathfinder, Blackmoor, Dungeon Crawl Classics, Savage Worlds (Deadlands, Necessary Evil, Space: 1889), Warhammer / 40K Roleplay, 7th Sea, Call of Cthulu, World of Darkness, RIFTS, Shadowrun, Legend of the 5 Rings, Ryuutama, SPLINTER, Kult Favorite TTRPG Character: Kakita Kenshin, a noble swordsman from the Kakita clan, who was killed in an honor duel at the Imperial Winter Court in an intrigue engineered by another player at the table. His death was so dramatic and unexpected that the entire table gasped as the final blow was struck. When you can create a character and participate in telling a story with enough depth and emotional weight that a character death is actually impactful - that's when RPGs truly come alive for me. Favorite TTRPG Moment: There are too many wonderful moments to count, but my favorites are the emergent RP moments that happen in a roleplay heavy group. In one homebrew campaign, I was gifted a drunken dwarven bard to play named Oakstone Flamehammer. While attempting to secure the aid of a foreign court, he was accused of lying to the assembled nobles. In a fit of rage, he bellowed back, "Lie? LIE?! I'M TOO DRUNK TO LIE!", passed the charisma check with flying colors, and aid was secured. I'll never forget that moment, or the friends that I made during that campaign. Other Hobbies: Road trips / traveling, video games (Destiny 2 warlock main) and retro game collecting, miniatures painting / modeling Fun Fact: I have been playing make-believe and inhabiting fantastical worlds my entire life. For as long as I can remember, video games have been my primary hobby and passion - I still own my original INTV System III - and I firmly believe that there is no better way to connect with people, engage with stories, or evoke memory than through the spirit of play.
Name: Justin Occupation: Network Engineering Consultant Character Played: Tarlan Hillspark, Halfling Cleric First TTRPG: AD&D 2nd Edition TTRPGs Played: D&D 2e, 3e, 3.5e, 4e, 5e. Pathfinder, Paranoia, Call of Cthulhu, World of Darkness, In Nomine, BESM, Gurps, Star Wars D6, Star Wars Fantasy Flight, Mutants and Masterminds, Avatar Legends, Shadowrun, Blackmoor Favorite TTRPG Character: "Doctor", Kenku Cleric/Wizard plague doctor Favorite TTRPG Memory: It was D&D 3.5 at a living greyhawk table playing a human wizard. The entire party had fallen to a pack of wolves and dire wolves leaving Viktor alone, out of spell slots, facing off against the last dire wolf standing. Viktor was in robes armed with a quarter staff... and stood his ground against the Dire Wolf avoiding every attack thanks to some awful rolling on the DMs part. He was later dubbed Viktor the Invincible after clubbing the dire wolf to death and stabilizing his party. Other Hobbies: Board games, video games, trading card games... one day I will grow up and have adult hobbies... maybe... Fun Fact: I have 5 tattoos with 3 more planned once I get the money and time. 1 - Kanji for "not dying" between my should blades. 2 - Captain America's shield on my right bicep. 3 - A raven on my left pec. 4 - An ellipses and semi-colon on my right wrist. 5 - Chester Bennington's wrist flame on my right forearm in his honor. Next tattoo will be a quarter sleeve rainforest on my left shoulder and bicep with an animal representing each of my kids (Monkey, Frog, Fish).

2023.05.30 19:13 snuffy-laughs Ideas for the game.

I have a few ideas that I’d like to share. I think that there should be a training mode in retro bowl to use and better your players after games and during bye weeks. Also..we should be able to play for the defense during games.

How it must feel to be a real Cinci fan
Got tired of breezing thru the game and decided to take a different approach: managing only. So that means I can only focus on drafting, extending contracts and cutting players as it’s played entirely on Sim Mode. I have 0 control over how well my team plays and can only try to work around my issues as they pop up. Tell you what it’s actually a lot more fun to play this way lately. At first I tried letting dynamic or Medium be the difficulty but lol no this kind of only works comfortably on easy. It’s never 100% guaranteed win so the challenge is there.
I started out with Cinci and had one helluva time ever getting past Baltimore. You can tell how big of a road block those guys were by almost making it every season I was managing the bengals. The funniest part is when I moved to Detroit after winning a ring they actually got one without me 😶 like come on guys

2023.05.30 06:23 sinsandtonic Arrange Marriage Setup with a Psycho Girl

Wanted to share this story. I live in Mumbai. My parents gave me contact of a girl in Pune, encouraging me to meet her and stuff and get married. Her parents were very interested in me (I’m somewhat well-off). I started texting her and she seemed very chill. I went to meet her in Pune
  1. First meeting
I met her at a Cafe in Pune. The first meet was very formal— we mostly spoke about work. I’m a backend developer and she is a frontend developer. We spoke about some fun experiences we had. She shared me some sad personal story about some relative of her who prepared for UPSC and then couldn’t crack it for 4-5 years and then committed suicide. I shared some stories about some harassment I faced in my workplace and it got so bad I had to change teams etc. She was aggressively projecting about how modern and liberal she is and how all the earlier guys she met before me were very traditional (expected her to stay at home and cook and stuff) and she liked how I’m not like the other guys and that our vibes match. No red flags so far— only thing I noticed was she was a bit vocal/dominating about her point of view. I noticed she had a really cool tattoo on her collarbone (at that time I didn't have any tattoos but I have 4-5 now).
  1. Second meeting
Second meeting happened a week later. We had coffee, then went for lunch. We got very close in the sense we shared some more personal stories— about relationships and whatnot. I shared this story about how my childhood friend and I got close and we ended up kissing and 1 week later I find out her marriage got fixed which broke my heart (she used me for fun). She told me she doesn’t drink whisky and stuff because it affects her periods, so she only drinks wine. We had a discussion about how couples are irritating and I narrated her this incident about how two of my friends who are dating got into argument in the middle of the road and I had to intervene and stop it. She expressed deep resentment about how hypocritical society is when a woman does something as opposed to when a man does something (usually regarding sex, drinking, etc). I agreed with her that society is indeed very unjust towards women and even though we have made progress, we still have a long way to go. We later on went bowling. We had a fun time and at the end of the day she separately texted me that she had a really good time.
Now this is the fun part. After two meetings, both of us gave a positive feedback to our parents. Things almost became official between us. Suddenly she had a mood swing of some sort and she stopped replying to my texts and didn't answer my calls. Later on she texted me that she doesn't see my as my life partner. I replied ok and stopped bothering her. Later on she blocked me on whatsapp— unnecessary but ok her choice. My mother was confused that what the hell happened— yesterday she was fine and today she changed her mind. My mother tried talking to her mother and her mother claimed that she changed her mind because she thought I was some high-society boy. My mother was concerned that what must I have told her and was curious about what we talked about. I told her that I didn't say anything extreme— we just had a good time and I told her some funny stories and that we got along very well with each other. I basically gave my mom an idea that she is a very chill/liberal girl. This girl then randomly called my mother and got extremely triggered that I told my mother that she drinks or she has a tattoo. She thought I was spoiling her image so in order to get revenge on me she started spoiling my image— she told my mom that I drink every weekend, I watch porn, I harassed my childhood friend after getting rejected, I took advantage of another friend of mine when she was having a fight with her BF etc. She basically started a fight with me because she thought I started a fight with her and then impulsively said a bunch of rubbish about me to get revenge. My reaction was— what the fuck?! Why did she do this? And why did she even call my mother in the first place? Am I calling her mother and saying anything to her? You said No then khatam ho gayi baat. On top of that she is making a false molestation allegation about someone else. So shameless. I cannot imagine attacking even my worst enemy like that— let alone someone I went on two dates with.
She had blocked me on whatspp. She unblocked me and sent me a very toxic message (calling me a "coward", a "pathetic person" and that I couldn't handle her rejection and that I "bitched about her" and that is why she said all these things about me) and blocked me again, warning me that If I say anything to her she will complain to police. I'm like wtf? Basically, she said a bunch of things to me and if I say anything to her she said I will go to jail. Looking at her mood swings and impulsive reactions I could tell that she really wasn't stable. I really wanted to respond to her but she blocked me and using another phone would have made me look like the bad person. A couple of weeks later, she joined Telegram and I got a notification about it. I resisted the urge to reply her for 3 days. Finally I gave in— I crafted a very well thought answer to her original message— I called her a "psycho", "shameless", I called her out on her horrific lies (and potentially life-destroying) about "taking advantage" of someone and that she is "mentally unstable" and hence needs to seek help. After sending this reply I blocked her. Sweet revenge. A few hours later I was getting a call from an unknown number— it was her brother who was trying to rough me up. I blocked that number as well. The girl and her brother then called my mom and were creating a ruckus— accusing me of harassing her. My mother then called her out about the toxic message she sent me in the first place. Then the girl had a complete mental breakdown— yelling and screaming hysterically and threatening to take legal action through Police, CBI, Shiv Sena and whatnot. I was genuinely prepared for all of that— I messaged her only because she messaged me and I was extremely careful not to use any abusive words because that can invite legal trouble. I had collected and saved her messages and was prepared to use it in court. They kept threating and I kept ignoring them till the noise died down.
My advice to all young men here reading this is, try your best to avoid such situations. Because you are a man, people will automatically assume you to be the guilty one (male privilege) and in case you find yourself in this situation, be brave but don't be stupid. Indulge in controlled aggression and collect as much evidence as you can about such psychotic women (they can accuse you of any random crime like rape, harassment, molestation) as without evidence you are pretty much fucked.

2023.05.29 20:23 jimbobbypaul Ranking the Top 131 FBS Programs of the Last 40 Years: 88. South Florida

Main hub thread with the full 131 rankings
I’m not sure how many people know this, but South Florida is still one of the newest programs in football, having played their first season in 1997. They quickly moved up to Division 1 in 2000, and have enjoyed solid results until the program tanked under Charlie Strong and Jeff Scott recently.

Best Seasons and Highlights

1. 2007: 18. South Florida: 9-4 (21.403) 2. 2016: 18. South Florida: 11-2 (20.264) 3. 2002: 23. South Florida: 9-2 (18.097) 4. 2017: 27. South Florida: 11-2 (14.048) 5. 2006: 31. South Florida: 9-4 (11.641) 6. 2008: 41. South Florida: 8-5 (5.130) 7. 2009: 45. South Florida: 8-5 (3.687) 8. 2001: 44. South Florida: 8-3 (2.101) 9. 2010: 45. South Florida: 8-5 (1.096) 10. 2015: 56. South Florida: 8-5 (-0.167) 11. 2003: 53. South Florida: 7-4 (-2.213) 12. 2005: 44. South Florida: 6-6 (-2.247) 13. 2011: 71. South Florida: 5-7 (-11.987) 14. 2018: 86. South Florida: 7-6 (-16.665) 15. 2000: 73. South Florida: 7-4 (-19.194) 16. 2004: 88. South Florida: 4-7 (-30.918) 17. 2019: 106. South Florida: 4-8 (-32.112) 18. 2014: 100. South Florida: 4-8 (-33.728) 19. 2012: 102. South Florida: 3-9 (-37.577) 20. 2013: 110. South Florida: 2-10 (-48.131) 21. 2021: 121. South Florida: 2-10 (-50.018) 22. 2020: 126. South Florida: 1-8 (-50.872) 23. 2022: 130. South Florida: 1-11 (-59.645) Overall Score: 8403 (88th)
It’s actually pretty amazing that South Florida has a winning record in the FBS. They’ve gone just 8-37 over the last 4 years (134-98 if we don’t include them). Nearly 50% of their seasons have had 8 or more wins, and they produce about 3 NFL players every 2 years. Very solid program who’s having a rough patch, but could return to sleeping giant status soon. Notable NFL players include Jason Pierre-Paul, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Marlon Mack. Consensus All-Americans were DL George Selvie in 2007 and all-purpose Brian Battie in 2021, who returned 3 kicks for TDs, on just 20 returns.

Top 5 Seasons

Worst Season: 2022 (1-11 overall, 0-8 American)
Man, they’ve fallen far. On the bright side, they can’t fall much further than this. Head coach Jeff Scott was in his 3rd season, and ended up going just 4-26 in his (almost) 3 years with the Bulls. It wasn’t totally his fault, he had to clean up the mess Charlie Strong left behind, and while there were signs of improvements, but they weren’t winning close games, usually an indicator of poor coaching. USF lost 28-31 to #18 Florida, 24-28 to #24 Cincinnati, and 39-46 to #22 UCF, so it wasn’t like the Bulls were totally destitute. Former Baylor QB Gerry Bohanon, who led the Bears to a 12-2 record in 2021, started the first 7 games, throwing for 1070 yards 6 TD 6 INT with 386 rushing yards and 3 TD on 6.4 YPC. Backup Byrum Brown flashed potential, throwing for 5 TD 1 INT with 5.8 YPC on the ground. This team didn’t win a game against an FBS opponent, as they beat Howard 42-20. They were the 2nd worst defense in the nation giving up 41.2 PPG, but scored a respectable 28.0 PPG.
5. 2006 (9-4 overall, 4-3 Big East)
Remember QB Matt Grothe? That’s a throwback name. The freshman QB took over in 2006, in USF’s 2nd year in the Big East. USF played fine throughout the year, the season going about as expected after a 7-4 start. A game at #7 West Virginia to play Pat White and Steve Slaton seemed like a guaranteed loss, but at least USF was going bowling. On the contrary, the Bulls shut down the WVU spread offense, winning 24-19 in a huge upset. This would start a few years where the Bulls consistently terrorized West Virginia, beating them 3 times over the next 4 years. USF dominated the bowl as well, beating East Carolina 24-7. The season was an announcement that the Bulls were coming, with a young talented QB, plenty of potential being in a BCS AQ conference, and being located right in the middle of a recruiting hotbed. Grothe completed 64% of passes for 2576 yards 15 TD 14 INT, and ran for another 622 and 9 TD. The defense was very good as well, giving up just 16.9 PPG. Momentum was building for 2007.
4. 2017 (10-2 overall, 6-2 American)
When the Big East broke up in 2013, USF ended up in the American, a non-Power 5 conference. They made the most of it, at least initially. 2017 USF entered the year at #19, coming off an 11-2 year, and looked to compete for a New Years 6 bowl with new coach Charlie Strong. This team featured senior QB Quinton Flowers, arguably the most electric player in college football. But despite all the talent and expectations—the team’s performance on the field was underwhelming. They started 7-0, but only moved up 2 spots to #17 because of their play. In week 2 they were tied 17-17 with Stony Brook in the 4th quarter, and beat up on mostly weaker competition, with their toughest opponent having been Temple. They did get their first ever win over a Big Ten school though, beating Illinois 47-23. With a 34-28 win over Tulane, USF set the AP era record for most consecutive 30+ point games, with 24 straight, beating 2011-12 Oregon. Fast forward to the end of the season and USF was 9-1 and #22, facing #13 UCF in the War on I-4. Despite everyone overlooking USF (9.5 point underdogs), Quinton Flowers did EVERYTHING he could, throwing for 500+ yards and rushing for 100+ yards and 5 total TD. Still, UCF won 49-42 on a last minute kickoff return TD. USF still finished the year with a respectable 38-34 win over Texas Tech to finish 10-2 and #21 in the AP Poll.
Flowers threw for 2911 yards 25 TD 6 INT, with 1078 rushing yards and 11 TD on 5.5 YPC. He finished his career as USF’s all time leader in total yardage (11,796). There was talent around him as well—RBs Darius Tice and future NFLer D’Ernest Johnson split time, combining for 1739 rushing yards and 18 TD. Marquez Valdes-Scantling was the leading receiver with 879 receiving yards as well as 108 rushing yards.
3. 2002 (9-2 overall, Independent)
This was USF’s 2nd full year in the FBS, and they definitely came ready to play. They opened with 30+ point wins over both FAU and NIU. After getting blown out by Arkansas, they held #2 Oklahoma to just 239 yards in a 14-31 loss, maybe the Bulls’ most impressive defensive performance of the season. They wouldn’t lose a game afterwards, winning one-possession games against North Texas, Southern Miss, and Memphis. Despite a 9-2 record with wins over Urban Meyer’s 9-3 record Bowling Green, Sun Belt champion North Texas, and one of the top C-USA teams in Southern Miss, USF was not selected for a bowl because of their Independent status. Pretty insane, as I had them as the 23rd best team that year. QB Marquel Blackwell had a great senior season, throwing for 2590 yards 18 TD with just 3 INT, and ran for 5 more TD. The defense gave up just 18.5 PPG and featured future NFL players LB Kawika Mitchell (2nd round pick), DE Shurron Pierson (4th round), and DB J.R. Reed (4th round).
2. 2016 (11-2 overall, 7-1 American)
QB Quinton Flowers and coach Willie Taggart announced themselves to a national audience in 2016. Picked to win the AAC East, USF came in with offensive firepower, beating Syracuse 45-20 in week 3 and losing 35-55 to #13 Florida State a week later. An 11-2 season included wins over #22 Navy, 8-5 Memphis, and South Carolina in the bowl. USF had the best Group of 5 offense in the country, averaging 43.8 PPG with a stacked backfield of Flowers and RBs Marlon Mack and D’Ernest Johnson. Flowers won AAC POTY, throwing for 2812 yards 24 TD 7 INT, with 1530 rushing yards and 18 TD on 7.7 YPC!! Mack put up a 1st Team All-AAC season, rushing for 1187 yards and 15 TD on 6.8 YPC, while Johnson added 836 yards and 13 TD from scrimmage. Even the receiver room was stacked, with future NFL draft picks Rodney Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Taggart turned the great season into a job at Oregon, and the rest is history.
1. 2007 (9-4 overall, 4-3 Big East)
Every die-hard college football fan knows the 2007 Bulls. In just their 11th year of existence, they were #2 in the country. In fact, 5 of the 6 computers that made up the BCS ranking had USF at #1. So how did it happen? People thought USF would be good heading into 2007, but not this good. After beating Elon in week 1, they headed to Auburn to face the 17th-ranked Tigers. LB Ben Moffitt recalled the experience and how USF wasn’t perceived as a threat to fans: “It’s a weird experience. You ride the bus in, and they’re all waving at ya, and they’re all, ‘Good luck, good luck.’ I was like this is different, but OK.” Later in the night, down 20-23 in OT, QB Matt Grothe fired a game winning TD on 2nd and 9 to walk out of Jordan-Hare with one of the upsets of the season thus far. Now ranked #23, USF disposed of another Power 6 school in North Carolina, 37-10. That set up a home game against #5 West Virginia, with the Mountaineers looking to get revenge for last year on their way to a national title. Media members recall the crowd being so loud that night that the ground shook underneath their feet, in a 21-13 USF upset victory, to beat a top 10 Mountaineer team for the second straight season.
Suddenly, USF was thrust near the top with college football royalty, moving 12 spots up to #6. After spanking weaker opponents FAU and UCF, they had made it all the way to #2. In the country. A frusturating Thursday night game against Rutgers saw the Bulls squander a 7 point lead toward the end of the 1st half, and commit 10 penalties in a 27-30 loss. USF would fall off a cliff afterwards, losing consecutive games to UConn and Cincinnati to fall out of the Top 25. They finished strong though, averaging 48 PPG in their last 3 wins against Syracuse, Louisville, and Pitt to finish 9-3. There were rumors that the USF players were hungover for the Sun Bowl against Oregon, but the rumors turned out to be unfounded, the truth lying in the talent of first year Oregon OC Chip Kelly, who changed up his game plan to avoid USF Consensus All-American DE George Selvie. The Ducks won 56-21, and RB Jonathan Stewart ran for a Sun Bowl record 253 yards.
USF finished the year 9-4 and 4th place in the Big East. While they finished unranked in the AP Top 25, I had them at 18th for impressive wins over West Virginia and Auburn. Matt Grothe had another fine year, throwing for 2670 yards 14 TD 14 INT, with 872 rushing yards and 10 TD, and would go on to be USF’s all time total yardage leader. DE George Selvie put up a 1st Team All-American season with a whopping 14.5 sacks and 17 TFL. Overall, this was a pretty stacked team. 8 players were drafted, including 5 picks in the first 3 rounds.

5th Quarter

15 years after being ranked #2 in the nation, USF is now in a weaker conference, has gone 4-26 the previous 3 years, and rival UCF has been invited to the Big 12. Where did it all go wrong for USF? And do you remember some of their players such as Matt Grothe, BJ Daniels, and Quinton Flowers? What do you remember about that #2 ranked Bulls team and the 2007 season?

2023.05.29 19:01 Able_Possession8736 A Comprehensive Guide to Pro Football Video Game Covers

Another Madden $70 re-skin is upon us, so let's take a moment to explore the history of all the people who have been featured on the cover of an pro football video game.
While the selection of the Madden cover athlete is now an event, there was a wild wild west period of football games from the 80s to the mid-2000s where anybody with a computer could and would build football games, with the selection of the cover being all over the place. Roger Craig was the first cover athlete in 1985 on NFL Challenge for MS-DOS. Madden's first game was in 1988, then by the mid-90s getting a cover athlete or spokesman for your football game was pretty standard.
I wanted to compile those games and covers based on this Wiki article (and a few that it was missing from that list) and see who was on the main cover of all of those games (some games were almost completely irrelevant, so I left them off this list). Some of these may have more alternates with other people, but I'll stick with the main cover.

Covers by Position

https://preview.redd.it/1dzua4o2hl2b1.png?width=600&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=023c573335e64d21fccc937a44db0ae995510db6
*These are heavily boosted by John Madden being on 10 Madden covers
Obviously QBs dominate here, but I didn't realize how little defensive players have been on football game covers (9%), with none being on a cover since Richard Sherman in 2014. I'd love to see more defensive players on the Madden cover. Who would be the most likely defensive guy in the near future? Aaron Donald, TJ Watt, Nick Bosa, Myles Garrett, or Sauce Gardner?

Covers by Team

https://preview.redd.it/8f29df4ygl2b1.png?width=600&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=3b93f8a4ddb26b2cee1f6abd74652f44b7fbfdcb
If a team's player was not a lead on the cover or was not any identifiable player, I gave them a *
The Re-skins/Commanders?, Jags, Panthers, and Bills have appeared on a cover but never with an athlete as the lead or with a real person. Only the Texans have never appeared at all on the cover of any football video game. I'd say the Bills are most likely to get one next (Josh Allen), then the Jags (Trevor Lawrence), then the Panthers/Texans if either hits a home run with Young or Stroud. The Commanders have a long road ahead to getting a feature cover athlete, unless you ask Sam Howell who thinks he should be this year's Madden cover athlete.

Most Prolific Cover People

https://preview.redd.it/5axoymcakl2b1.png?width=2871&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=9ecf9c52cad0647d1572d2d9c85ebdef0dd277c3
Kordell Stewart, Daunte Culpepper, and Donovan McNabb (and possibly Lamar Jackson, still too early for him) are the only players with multiple appearances that are either not or are unlikely to make the Hall of Fame. McNabb is the only guy to appear in multiple covers in the same year. Also of note, 7 athletes were on a cover without ever making a pro bowl in their careers: Brad Muster, Pat Terrell, Gordon Laro, Chris Zorich, Albert Fontenot, William Floyd, and Peyton Hillis (Hillis was the only one to be the primary cover athlete).
I'll list all the games and their respective covers by their era below. I'll also attach some of my favorite covers from each era. If the cover person was a Hall of Famer, I'll mark them with a \). If they're very likely to make the HoF but they're not yet eligible, I'll mark them with a +

Covers by Era

We didn't see the first cover athlete until 1985 with Roger Craig. They didn't really become standard until the early to mid-90s after Madden became a big selling point for the early Madden games. The dip in the last 2 decades is because there's just less games, so any generic football games will have a large effect.

The Early Days: 1965-1982

1978: Football! for the Magnavox Odyssey 2 was the first football video game with a cover, but obviously the cover athletes are generic.

The 2D Era: 1983-1996

1985: NFL Challenge was the first football game with a real cover athlete (Roger Craig). This was the original bar for realism in football simulation, to where it was used in a 1988 ESPN Program \"NFL Dream Season\" where they simulated the greatest teams of all time against each other.
1988: John Madden Football released on the Apple II, MS-DOS, and Commodore 64/128 (partly being developed by Bethesda), which was the beginning of the most dominant franchise in football video games. They featured no NFL teams due to a lack of an NFL license.
1991: Tecmo Super Bowl is probably still my personal favorite football video game. It's totally timeless, and if you pick the Raiders then you're a cheater.

The Parity Era: 1997-2004

1997: NFL Blitz came from Midway studios and was a breath of fresh air for football games. They had mostly been stagnant trying to hone in on realistic simulation in 2D form, whereas Blitz came out in 3D and threw realism out the window. I definitely spent too much money on the arcade version of this game.
2000: Madden 2001 started the tradition of having their games feature a cover athlete in this format, which consolidated into nearly everyone following this trend.
2001: Backyard Football 2002 was a more kid-friendly version of a football video game, and they also had other games for other professional sports. I definitely played this a lot on my old Windows Me computer, and Pablo Sanchez is a god.
2002: NFL Fever was Microsoft's foray into football video games on the original Xbox. All 3 of their games featured Peyton Manning as the cover athlete.
2002: NFL GameDay 2003 was 989 Sports' exclusive for Sony on the PlayStation platform.
2004: ESPN NFL 2K5 was the last great football game before the NFL exclusively gave their license to the EA. It was this game that definitely led to NFL's decision though, as they slashed their release price to an unheard of $20, which forced Madden 2004 to release at $30 instead of the typical $50. This pissed off the NFL, who decided to have less competition instead.

The Madden Era: 2005-Present

2005: NFL Street 2 was the second in the NFL Street series as a kind of spiritual successor to NFL Blitz. EA tried to have some diversity in their football video games outside of the Madden franchise, so they had the short-lived Street franchise under \"EA BIG\"
2006: NFL Head Coach was a new perspective on NFL Games where you play as the coach instead of the players. I enjoyed these although they could get a little boring.
2007: All Pro Football 2K8 was 2K's attempt at keeping the 2K football franchise alive without the coveted NFL license. They got three HoF players on the cover in Elway, Barry, and Rice, but not the actual license to any NFL team. This game received praise for its mechanics, but poor sales showed that a non-NFL licensed game would always struggle to make it.
2011: Madden 12 was maybe the last good Madden game. Also, Peyton Hillis. The only guy on a NFL football game cover to never make a Pro Bowl. This guy is an actual hero though, so good for him.
2019: Doug Flutie's Maximum Football was a mix of american and CFL football as another attempt at making a football game without the NFL license to poor results. They have announced a new game as a free to play title on new platforms, but no games in this franchise have released since 2020.
2020: Retro Bowl is a mobile game more in the style of Tecmo Super Bowl than Madden. It's probably the most successful non-Madden game since ESPN NFL 2K5, and it's pretty fun. People should definitely give this one a try since it's free to play on any mobile platform.
2022: Madden 23 gave the cover back to Madden for the first time since 1999 to honor the passing of the legend John Madden. Unfortunately the game inside the cover was crap, has been the style of Madden games for over a decade.

2023.05.29 03:19 No-Firefighter-3891 CHICAGO wins SEASON 1

SEASON ONE FINAL RESULTS
After a blazing 8-0 start, San Francisco dropped out, leaving the lead wide open for Chicago to cruise to an 11-4-1 record to secure the #1 spot ahead of a flailing GIANTS squad.
As they are the sole team with a playoff berth, Chicago has clinched as Season One Champions.
Chicago, please feel free to post your final play off run here and we wish you the best on your Retro Bowl run!
Thanks for giving this a try. Let me know any ideas/suggestions you have for future seasons!
