I have heard great things for the Monster Hunter franchise and it is loved by gamers of all age groups solo and online. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to experience any of the games yet. I have watched reviews and video essays on the series and below are the reasons why I think it will be fun for me -
Vast and Immersive World: I love games that are immersive and offer exploration without waypoints. The Monster Hunter series is known for its expansive and richly detailed worlds. Exploring these environments, discovering new creatures and uncovering hidden secrets sounds something from a dream world.
Epic Monsters: The game's focus on hunting huge monsters is a major draw . I love games with epic boss fights and the battle with these mythical creatures seems exciting.
Progression: I love games that reward players for grinding. Not necessarily loot oriented games just to increase a few numbers but with some impact on gameplay. Monster Hunter series is known for its depth and progression systems. The continuous grind to improve gear is bound to keep me engaged for hours.
Why I can't buy it myself ?
I made the switch from ps4 to pc last year and I am currently saving up for a new monitor ( my 4 year old benq gw2480 monitor is showing issues ), which is an essential requirement for my work and gaming. Unfortunately, this means that I am unable to afford new or relatively new games at the moment ( even at sales ). I am from India and computer parts and games are heavily taxed and a luxury for most people ( also due to the lower salary). Most new games cost very high here and rarely are games on regional pricing. My last gaming purchase was Deep Rock galactic last September ( for 300 rs ~4 $ ).
Thanks to this wonderful community, I won Resident Evil 2 Remake couple months back and have completed two playthoughs of the game as well. I plan to revisit it after some gap for 100% which seems quite challenging ( and fun ) due to Hardcore S rank achievements.

TL;DR: new GPU is astonishingly faster while basically sipping power, still way too expensive, fuck both Nvidia and AMD.
A few days ago I finally retired my very trusty GTX 1070 to get a 4070. Many people, both on reddit and YouTube, pointed out how these cards were a great upgrade for those who were still stuck with the 1000 or 2000 series (or AMD equivalent). I therefore decided to upgrade as well, and this is my experience.
1)-WHY NVIDIA AGAIN? Simply, I am specializing in using Metashape, Blender, and Maya. So the choice of Nvidia was a must: Maya doesn't render with AMD/Intel gpu's, Blender is significantly faster with Cuda and Metashape...well, it doesn't give a shit what you use, it will be extremely heavy anyway. Also, my past experiences with AMD (RX 290x and 380) have not been great on both hardware and software levels. Finally, the power efficiency of the 4070 is undeniably incredible.
1b) WELL YOU COULD HAVE CHOSEN A USED 3080. It was a choice, but the extra 2 GB of vram, the aforementioned power efficiency, and the new features of the 4000 convinced me.
2)-CONS -Price: Although I was able to buy the 4070 for 100€ less than its MSRP, it is still too much compared to what it should cost -the vram: 12 GB of video memory for a card at this price is low (although, FOR ME, enough expansion so far) -Nvidia in general: Yes, ok, I decided to buy one, but their monopoly in productivity is definitely frustrating, because they force professionals to have to spend more in order to get work done (AMD is at fault in this, because ok they are cheaper, but it's not enough to dump more VRAM into a card to hope to take a slice of the market. Intel is getting there)
3) PROS -Power efficiency: it's amazing that a card that is twice as fast as my old 1070 consumes practically the same. In game, even enabling path tracing on CP2077 doesn't get more than 180/190w. That allowed me to still use my old 650w PSU, without the needing of buying another one. -performance: absolutely incomparable to my old card. Rendering times have dropped dramatically, and the extra 4 GB of vram helps incredibly in processing complex scenes with heavy textures -DLSS/DLAA/Frame Generation/Ray and Path Tracing: these features are the real selling points of these cards. I have tested these features on Forza Horizon 5 and CP2077; Path Tracing is visually outstanding, DLAA is far superior to regular TAA, DLSS offers quality virtually indistinguishable from native resolution, and Frame Generation is black magic to me (in 1080p, DLSS+FG+PT in Cyberpunk sent my fps from 40s to 80/90. That’s astonishing). Regarding software, then, Nvidia proves to be light years ahead of the competition.
All in all, I can only be satisfied with my upgrade. The jump in performance is incredible and undeniable. Unfortunately, the price for all this is way TOO high, and this is what really turns my nose up at it. Tell me in the comments about your experience!

It's been a heck of a week, huh?
Thank you for your enthusiasm, your support for the game, and most of all your passion for the community. I know it's been a rocky last seven days, with a lot of things up in the air, a lot of rules flying around, a lot of new moderators learning the ropes, a lot of excitement, a lot of energy, and just a pinch of drama for spice.
But we're going to cut down on that last little bit -- the drama -- by shuttering this subReddit later this weekend. The official mission statement of Catalyst's little Community Building team, which I'm proud to be a member of, is to build safe and respectful communities for fans of our games. A week ago, in response to a fanzine Pride anthology, it was shown, loud and clear, that Reddit didn't have a safe and respectful community for BattleTech. Rem gave me the green light and I took quick action to create one.
Since then, changes have happened at battletech that have made it a safe and respectful community, thanks to ddevil63 and a new team of moderators being brought in. Catalyst Game Labs is assisting ddevil63 with moderation guidelines that we all hope will ensure it stays a safe and respectful community (moderation guidelines that we'll be using where ever we can, to create inclusive communities across social media). What's more, a few of us from the Community Building team will stick around as mods over on battletech to help out, to keep an eye on things, to answer questions (or to toss them up the ladder), and to provide battletech with the occasional bit of particularly juicy news straight from Catalyst. We don't want to split the BattleTech community into pieces on Reddit, we want to bring the BattleTech community together again and help it out.
In the last week, as a community, we have made our game and our hobby better. You have done that. Thank you. On a professional note, as a freelancer and volunteer on the Community Builder team, I'm really glad y'all didn't leave me standing in this subReddit alone and looking like a dork, because I never would have heard the end of it. XD But on a more personal note, as a contributor to the Pride anthology in question and an out, proud, bisexual man, thank you. Sincerely. You took a principled stand last week, you made headlines all over the internet with your outrage, and then you filled this place with welcoming messages to one another and post after post of paint jobs you'd been itching to show off for years (to remind us all why we did it, and how much we have to celebrate). Before long, it was business as usual, and just fun BattleTech conversations.
BattleTech is for Everybody. You all said that this week. We, as CGL Community Builders and Reddit mods, just wrote it down.
Have fun (and follow the rules!) over the next few days. Take a day or two to save any badass images you really want to save, reach out to one another for painting tips, and that sort of thing. Sunday night I'll shut 'er down.
And hopefully, on Monday, I'll see you all at battletech to get right back to talking about robots, intrigue, Shrapnel stories, novels, laser beams, hex maps, explosions, unlucky dice, and cool paint jobs.
Look for a big, stickied, moderator post over there in coming days, as we go over the details of the new rules that we'll be using over there to try and keep everything running smoothly.

The game has such types of resources as gold, food, stone, wood. You need to build buildings in this game that give each of the resources, there is a mine where stone is mined, there are residential buildings that generate gold at a certain time, you can also improve these buildings (for different types of resources depends on the level) also there there are different biomes, for example winter, and to open it you need to kill the boss. You also need to protect your territory from zombies and skeletons, spending food on it. The game is very similar in graphics to Blocky Roads. The game has a top view. Also NPC say random words, like - Work it’s not wolf in forest don’t run.

I am incredibly frustrated by life lately. I am also incredibly lonely.
I am a 36 year old male. I'm 6'2". I'm in okay shape. I have been losing a lot of weight lately with life style changes. I've lost 30 pounds in 2 months. I have a wonderful job. I make $115,000 a year, and I have my own apartment. I have good habits. I keep my apartment very tidy. I'm not very materialistic, and I am a minimalist, so I don't have much clutter. I max out my 401k every year. I am going to retire in my late 50's.
I am an atheist, and a socialist / liberal. I find myself rather intelligent and good looking. I am funny, or at least my friends and family think I am. Who knows.
However, dating sucks. I broke up with my fiancé in 2021, and it has been rough out there. I feel like all of the women I meet are unreasonable, shallow, and impatient. I come from a very down to earth, laid back family. I also have very sensible ideals about things, and I am very reasonable person. As long as people don't lie, or cheat, it takes a LOT to ruffle my feathers. I don't hold grudges ever. I will always be willing to talk things out.
I would just like to meet someone normal for once. Someone who isn't a psycho. Who has their life together and actually shares some interests with me. I enjoy science, nutrition, biology, physics, video games, DnD, anything and everything. My life is VERY boring at the moment and I'm very spontaneous, and willing to do anything with anyone for fun. I just need someone to go do things WITH to motivate me to get out more. Where is that person to make me feel alive?

A few days ago I finally retired my very trusty GTX 1070 to get a 4070. Many people, both on reddit and YouTube, pointed out how these cards were a great upgrade for those who were still stuck with the 1000 or 2000 series (or AMD equivalent). I therefore decided to upgrade as well, and this is my experience.
1)-WHY NVIDIA AGAIN? Simply, I am specializing in using Metashape, Blender, and Maya. So the choice of Nvidia was a must: Maya doesn't render with AMD/Intel gpu's, Blender is significantly faster with Cuda and Metashape...well, it doesn't give a shit what you use, it will be extremely heavy anyway. Also, my past experiences with AMD (RX 290x and 380) have not been great on both hardware and software levels. Finally, the power efficiency of the 4070 is undeniably incredible.
1b) WELL YOU COULD HAVE CHOSEN A USED 3080. It was a choice, but the extra 2 GB of vram, the aforementioned power efficiency, and the new features of the 4000 convinced me.
2)-CONS -Price: Although I was able to buy the 4070 for 100€ less than its MSRP, it is still too much compared to what it should cost -the vram: 12 GB of video memory for a card at this price is low (although, FOR ME, enough expansion so far) -Nvidia in general: Yes, ok, I decided to buy one, but their monopoly in productivity is definitely frustrating, because they force professionals to have to spend more in order to get work done (AMD is at fault in this, because ok they are cheaper, but it's not enough to dump more VRAM into a card to hope to take a slice of the market. Intel is getting there)
3) PROS -Power efficiency: it's amazing that a card that is twice as fast as my old 1070 consumes practically the same. In game, even enabling path tracing on CP2077 doesn't get more than 180/190w. That allowed me to still use my old 650w PSU, without the needing of buying another one. -performance: absolutely incomparable to my old card. Rendering times have dropped dramatically, and the extra 4 GB of vram helps incredibly in processing complex scenes with heavy textures -DLSS/DLAA/Frame Generation/Ray and Path Tracing: these features are the real selling points of these cards. I have tested these features on Forza Horizon 5 and CP2077; Path Tracing is visually outstanding, DLAA is far superior to regular TAA, DLSS offers quality virtually indistinguishable from native resolution, and Frame Generation is black magic to me (in 1080p, DLSS+FG+PT in Cyberpunk sent my fps from 40s to 80/90. That’s astonishing). Regarding software, then, Nvidia proves to be light years ahead of the competition.
All in all, I can only be satisfied with my upgrade. The jump in performance is incredible and undeniable. Unfortunately, the price for all this is way TOO high, and this is what really turns my nose up at it. Tell me in the comments about your experience!

So to catch everyone up on the podcast segment:
- Apple announced a VR headset for $3500.
- It has no controllers.
- You can see the wearer's eyes inside the headset.
- It has a 2-hour battery life.
So that price seems astronomical, and it is, but the tech behind it - if Apple is to be believed - is certainly cutting edge, and I honestly think that's the right move to make given the niche that VR continues to occupy. When the PSVR 2 has the budget gaming base thoroughly covered, go big, pack yours with all of the latest and greatest, and make it the most premium thing in existence.
The lack of controllers is because the method of interaction is actually to use your hands. Very Kinect-sounding, I know, but the bevy of sensors apparently do a far better job tracking than the Kinect could ever hope. It tracks what your eyes are looking at, and you select what you're looking at by pinching your thumb and index finger, and apparently it works pretty much seamlessly.
The promotional material makes it seem like the headset has a transparent visor, but it's actually opaque. There's a screen on the outside of the headset that can display what the cameras inside the headset see (ie your eyes), while simultaneously the displays on the inside show what the cameras on the outside of the headset see. It's basically a two-way passthrough cameras system.
The battery really is just 2 hours, though it does have a USB-C (*gasp!*) port for powering it from the wall or plugging in a battery pack.
Utility-wise, Apple are obviously integrating it into their ecosystem, and advertised mainly productivity stuff like the ability to automatically pair with your Mac laptop. You look at the Mac, and it automatically blows up the image onto a large virtual screen that you can interact with (via aforementioned eye/hand tracking and finger pinching). They also showed a FaceTime video chat feature where the headset scans your face and renders a 3D model of you with AI-interpreted facial expressions and lip synching so people on the other end don't see either a weird 3D avatar or like... just your eyes inside the headset or something.
Gaming-wise, Apple seem to be making a bigger push for game devs, as they announced a "game porting toolkit" alongside the headset to help with porting games from Windows to MacOS.
For my part, I think the tech in the headset is definitely worth checking out, which is more than I could have said about Apple tech before. If the hand tracking is really as good as it claims to be, I could see it finally making good on the Kinect's promise of a controller-less controller. It's obviously a super niche product at $3500, but any VR headset would have been niche at any price, especially when there's no really clear-cut use for it unlike the PSVR, and it's definitely filled to the brim with some of the most advanced headset tech ever, so I can't even really say it's unreasonable. I wouldn't buy one, but I could see someone already in the Apple ecosystem finding it useful. (And it's not like Apple fans aren't used to wasting money on Apple products heyyyyyyyy.)

If the hand tracking is really as good as it claims to be, I could see it finally making good on the Kinect's promise of a controller-less controller. It's obviously a super niche product at $3500, but any VR headset would have been niche at any price, especially when there's no really clear-cut use for it unlike the PSVR, and it's definitely filled to the brim with some of the most advanced headset tech ever, so I can't even really say it's unreasonable. I wouldn't buy one, but I could see someone already in the Apple ecosystem finding it useful. (And it's not like Apple fans aren't used to wasting money on Apple products heyyyyyyyy.)
But yeah, just wanted to comment on that a bit. Cheers.

Quick story. Me (22) female, and my bf (27) male living together for 2 years,not long ago we bought new house and made rules. We made agreements what we should do in the house (talking about chores) and i agreed at that time with his suggestions.. Now i feel like i’m the one doing the chores and we fighting all day about this.. I should mention that i’m working very hard from 9 to 22 . I get home tired ,that i don’t want to do anything ,just sleep while my bf at his day off plays video games,doesn't vacuum the floor,don't wash the dishes,anything.He leaves everything on the table, cause he knows that when i coming back from work i’ll clean everything. He says that i’m bitch for refusing doing things after him. One of the agreements was to make him food everyday. So one day i felt very sick and i fell asleep. The next day he was angry at me that i didn’t make him something to eat ,that i didn’t think of him, that he’s couldn’t drink the medicine he needed to take that day because he was starving. So AITH for shouting at him that i don’t want to be his maid or mother ?

Hey all,
I am extracting years now and always achieve lovely spice. I have managed to make a super simple tek which I will be turning into a video guide when I finalise it completely and wanted to run it by you all for criticism. Maybe some beginners can learn easier using this method rather than be overwhelmed with a fancy tek. so, here it is:
- Add 100g Mimosa Hostilis Root Bark (powdered) to a 1L Borosilicate glass mason jar (clip-top).
- In a separate borosilicate glass (Pyrex) measuring jug measure 750ml of water (I use de-ionized water), add the lye (I use around 40g) to 750ml de-ionised water slowly as a violent chemical reaction occurs and creates a high pH solution and high temperature. We need a pH of 12 or above to break down the cell walls of the bark and release the molecule into the base, so keep adding the lye in small increments and stirring until dissolved or the desired pH is reached (the mixture should turn clear when fully dissolved). Remember to use a stainless steel spoon here so it doesn't get dissolved into your mixture. Allow to cool to room temperature before adding to the powdered bark.
- Mix your cooled-down (room-temp) lye water into the powdered bark (I like to feel the outside of the jug with my hand but you can use a thermometer also). Be careful not to splash it on you and always wear gloves, eye protection and even a face mask to help prevent harmful fumes from being inhaled. Mix until the bark is fully saturated and no dried bark is floating on the top. Take your time with this part and make sure it's done correctly.
- Once you are happy that your base is fully saturated, add your solvent on top. Mix (don't shake) softly for about 10 minutes and let sit for 30 minutes. We are just making sure that every bit of the base has been in contact with the solvent to rip away that molecule. Repeat this process 7/8 times to ensure the solvent has extracted the DMT molecule into it. I like to use the rubber seal on the mason jar during mixing but I remove it during the 30-minute separation periods between mixes to prevent pressure build-up and a possible explosion. Don't worry about emulsions because vibration can help remove them, also I use my glass stirring rod to mix the soup and it does wonders to help separate the layers if they don't do so automatically.
- When you are happy that your solvent has dissolved enough DMT, siphon the solvent layer off into an 8x8 Pyrex dish, put the lid on and let it freeze for 12 hours MINIMUM!
-Don't worry about leaving a thin layer of solvent in the mason jar as it gets difficult to siphon without sucking any base into the pipette. You can rest your pipette on the lip of the jar for more stability while siphoning. We will add more solvent on top to start what's called the 2nd pull (you can reuse the solvent from the 1st pull once you bring it back to room temp before adding it back into your base). Once you do this just repeat the mixing and siphon process and it's recommended to do this 3 times (3 pulls) overall but you can do it as many times as you want. You can reuse solvent as many times as you want also, so please don't waste it as it is crucial to the process because it is where the DMT molecules are suspended until the freeze precipitation crystallises them.
