I am attempting to build a .Net Core 3.0 (preview) project in a DevOps build pipeline.
The steps in my azure-pipelines.yml executes up to the "docker build" step, successfully initiating the build process.The Docker file is read and executed up to the "dotnet build" step after which the following error is thrown.

error MSB3024: Could not copy the file "/src/obj/Release/netcoreapp3.0/" to the destination file "/app/", because the destination is a folder instead of a file. To copy the source file into a folder, consider using the DestinationFolder parameter instead of DestinationFiles. [/src/.csproj]

I have attempted to build locally by executing dotnet build ".csproj" -c Release -o /appThe build then succeeds with 0 errors and 0 warnings. Could this be related to an SDK issue in DevOps?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all, my wife and I are looking to move in the next 1-2 years. First for some context, we are both in our mid 20s and are both teachers. We've live in Albuquerque, NM for the last 3 years after moving from Lincoln, NE. It's been great to tell you the truth. We've made good friends and are at good schools, we explore the Sandias frequently and get to enjoy great food all the time. If you are on the fence of moving here, I personally recommend it. There's nothing like biking into the Balloon Fiesta at 4 am to seeing massive glowing balloons with a massive breakfast burrito waiting for you at a food truck.
With that being said, we are looking for something a little more up our alley. I lived in Nebraska for the first 22 years of my life, my wife lived there for 5 years, previously moving from Chicago where she grew up. My family lives in Omaha, so visiting back and forth has been difficult, missing holidays and big events, etc.
We do a lot of biking, hiking, camping, swimming in lakes, really can't ever get enough nature. However, we also love to explore the city, go to concerts and shows, eat good food and enjoy nightlife from time to time.
The main places we are considering in order of ranking would go: Twin Cities, Portland (perhaps Vancouver, WA - cheaper), St. Louis, KC, (maybe Chicago, but probably not), and lastly Denver. My wife loves her mountains so Denver seems like a good compromise since it's close to family in Nebraska, but it's soo expensive and our salaries wouldn't give us the house we desire. I should also mention despite living in Omaha/Lincoln for a large majority of my life and really loving it, I am wanting somewhere new, with new opportunities and excitement.
So overall, I am leaning St. Paul for the family life, great schools, close proximity to the city, but also opportunity to go biking, camping, etc. I've visited twice in the death of the winter, so I have a good idea of what that's like. Also have visited multiple times in the summer. I know it gets hot and humid, but that easily beats 110 degrees of dry heat in late July here. We may have a child or two in the next 5ish years, so having family nearby is crucial. My wife agrees it is a good "fit", but she is afraid of the winter (just like I am), but grew up largely in the Midwest so is familiar with heaping amounts of snow and darkness. We are spoiled in ABQ where we can go hiking in the mountains or for a stroll around wherever in the winter without freezing our tails off.
What do you guys think we should do, are there any other cities I need to consider? The biggest caveat is we would like to live somewhere within 6-8 hours of Omaha, NE.

1. Claire's Almost too easy. In early afternoons especially with only one worker usually that goes to the back too. Stay close to the wall to avoid mirrors and you're fine.
2. Forever 21 Surprisingly easy if staff does not ask to see your items. Fold clothes on top of each other, put some in hanger clothes, bring a bag and you're good. Usually folded tees have no tags.
3. Hot Topic Jewelry is easy. Most don't have cameras or more than 3 people working. You could haul shirts if you really tried.
4. Spencer's Easy if you're careful. Avoid cameras, hide stuff under a hoodie and fold it. Workers usually stay in one spot. Shiny alarm stickers are more or less there to scare you, just peel.
5. Walmart Controversial but easy. Going at night for me usually works best because workers are busy restocking.
6. Bath & Body Works Only really works if your area is busy. Easy to slip small lotions and shower gels.
7. Cotton On No cameras or sensors, just don't frequent the store. May ask for how many items.
8. FYE You can get away taking a CD or 2 with a hoodie. Workers never really travel, no cameras I am aware of.
9. Michael's Best for small things. Avoid cameras like the plague. Sticker section usually has no cameras. Most have a no chase policy.
10. Dollar General + Dollar Tree Avoid cameras and workers. Usually DG workers don't care.

I am interested in majoring in business administration with a focus on finance. After lurking around these financial subreddits I have come across many people who seem to be going through difficulties getting a job in the industry. People who have fantastic resumes without gaps of unemployment. This is what scares me if I am to go through this process and come out with a degree. If those with a good resume are having difficulties getting an interview, then I feel when an employer looks at my resume my early life will be a reason I don't get a job or interview. I understand the finance industry is about having a clean respectable work history, but I feel finance reads more into work history than other fields and the competition will beat me out. My resume will look as follows.
I left high school, went to college in 2015 for three semesters and worked at a supermarket in the summer. I dropped out after my third semester, waited a couple months then continued working at the supermarket in March 2017. After 3 months started working 2 jobs by also getting a job at a hotel for 8 months starting in June. I left the hotel job in February of 2018. Then left the supermarket job in may of 2018. I went over a year without working then got a seasonal delivery job in October of 2019 where I was laid off in march of 2020. I didn't work again until October of 2020. From October 2020 - June 2021 I started 2 jobs and left immediately so no real work history there. It wasn't until June of 2021 I worked delivery for a year and a Half until leaving in December 2022. It is now June and I am applying for jobs again.
I am capable of being a strong consistent employee, but my resume does not show it. The reason I plan on using for why I had inconsistency in my employment is because my father is getting old and incapable of doing things on his own. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's and requires a lot of supervision and help around the house completing daily tasks. My time off of work was spent by helping him. Without mentioning my own mental health struggles this is the only reason I have as to why I was unemployed.
Going into a competitive field like finance I don't see my work history playing out well with future employers. Although I plan on working full time while also being a full time student for the next 4 years. I am hoping to get into a company that reimburses tuition as I work for them. I also know that others will be able to have internships in relative fields that will boost their resumes while I may not get the chance to have such internships. I am currently applying for fidelity and I am only in the stage of an initial interview. I am about to turn 27. I know I am very behind here but I am trying to put myself on course for success.
My question is, after knowing how my resume would likely appear after graduation. How do you feel I would fair going into the job market? Should I pursue this career in the finance/business administration industry? Or should I look elsewhere and possibly go after a degree in healthcare as the negatives of my previous employment history may not stand out as much. Maybe another degree will help me fir better in a different job market.

I'm looking for a 10-16 port 2.5Gbit switch to replace my main switch in my house. The biggest 2.5Gbit switch I've been able to find is 8 ports. Am I over looking one?

Spider-Man utilized the updated suit to defeat the Hobgoblin and a new villain named Massacre, who was terrorizing the city.

Boyfriend and I are both 21, living with parents, ok jobs with great benefits but we only make a combined 4k a month.
We had received a moving incentive package thru our work to move to another state for 3 years in November this year. $30k incentive, all moving expenses paid, compensation for travel/food/etc. AND first month rent or opening/closing costs on a house covered. It was gonna be a NICE startup for us as young adults without much under our belts. BUT I just found out I’m pregnant. 4-6 weeks if I had to make a guess. And if we decide to keep the baby, we can’t make the move. It’ll be too much stress for me, and we will be alone. 8+ hrs away from both of our families. So there’s the ultimatum. Half of me wants to take the responsibility for our actions and keep the baby, but the other half of me is screaming “not ready!” and it’s the exact same conflict for my boyfriend. I had to force him to sit down and hash out what we’re going to do. Because he just wants to support me either way, he doesn’t feel he has room for an opinion. I spoke to 2 family members, 2 friends, and 2 coworkers for advice so far. And have basically received an equal vote. 3 saying they’re excited/happy for us and that we’ll figure it out and be great parents. And 3 saying we should really consider abortion as we aren’t in the financial position to provide for a child, have other things we need to work on and sort out before having a child, plus we’d lose the once in a lifetime opportunity and an easy $30k.

I love him to death and I would go to the ends of the Earth for him, but as of lately I just feel so exhausted. We started off rocky with a period of about a year, he would randomly go days on end without communicating with me. We went to the same college and lived in the same town, but he would just disappear. Then it came to a point that he didn’t talk to me for a whole week and I never got any type of explanation from him through any of these. I was really hurt by it because I never understood, so one morning I packed all of his stuff that I had and dropped it at his door. I didn’t hear from him until midnight and I forgot how it all went down to detail, but I got promised to not be ghosted again and was given a promise ring that I’ve worn everyday since.
After that came another isssue and it still is a big one as of today. We were going to the beach one day and we had taken a bunch of photos on the way so I was looking at them, I saw a photo of a women bare breasted. I immediately had a cold wave wash over me and I started shaking, he explained to me that one of his friends sent it and he never deleted it. Didn’t ever say anything about it again, moving forward we have issues with him liking other girls post. I know it’s a controversial thing but early on in the relationship, I stopped being friends with all of my guy friends because he felt uncomfortable. I probated all of my social medias and deleted all the guys. Yes, I did that on my own and no he did not ask or hint to it. I made that choice. His excuse every time I brought it up was it didn’t mean anything and I’ll just delete my account. Moving forward no changes, we move in together but the apartment is in my name. At this point I’m paying most of the bills and groceries. I found out he was texting his ex that he was talking to again before we started dating. I read through the messages in front of him and he had at one point when SHE asked about me, that he wasn’t happy with me because I was cold and not understanding of him. I asked him why he felt that way and what it was that I was doing that came across as such. I told him I’ve never intended to be that way. He never explained to me and I can only recall when we were in heated arguments that I had even been slightly mean like calling him a d-head. Later on down the road through my year long lease, we kept arguing about the stuff on his phone. I know that’s a controversial subject because it is his privacy and property. I saw such much in his phone that I still see at night, like the naked girls and sex videos on pornhub and Reddit. The Instagram and Snapchat comments on other girls post. They all bothered me and it never mattered if I screamed, cried, wrote in a letter or talked to him calmly and explained why it hurt me. He still continued to do it, I don’t care if he does now, because it’s his business and I don’t own him. Which brings me to now my biggest problem. Throughout all of this he hasn’t always given me a lot of attention or time, he doesn’t really take me out anymore or give me a lot of compliments, he’s never posted on social media about me without me begging him to. As of the last 8 months we rent a house together and split the bills. We have three dogs together and he works in new construction plumbing while I work from home. I try to achieve a neat and tidy home, along with coffee, breakfast and lunch packed for him. Most nights I cook dinner and clean afterwards. He helps sometimes on his own and other times if I ask he gets annoyed. We don’t really talk much because he’s always gaming or I’m tending to the dogs, work or something with the house. Neither one of us hangout with friends so we’re always around one another. We have pretty good sex but not very often as of late. And we constantly argue. It starts off with me begging him to give me attention, then I get upset and he gets upset. Then we end up not talking to each other for hours or the rest of the night. He’s not a bad boyfriend and we still have good times. I love him and who he is. I want to be with him, but I feel sad most days. I don’t ever really feel beautiful and I feel more like an annoyance if I’m around him. My weights fluctuated throughout our relationship and I’m currently at my heaviest. I’ve never seen what he’s been attracted to but I’ve always appreciated the fact that he was. I feel like I lucked out with him and I can’t fathom my life without him. I’m at a point now that I don’t want to leave him but I want change. We’ve had so many conversations about my boundaries or what hurts me and I feel like I’m the problem. I’m not sure how to fix it though or what truly is wrong with me.

Rhino granted the user enhanced strength and durability. Additionally, Baku could use bits of his horns growth to grant people control of their faculties (dampening intense fear, anger, ect)
Hero Rank: Max 1, Average 12, Minimum 94
Hero Type: Baku was one of the most prominent and early mutant advocate heroes. He was by far the highest ranked and most visible mutant type hero of his time. During that era the Creature Rejection Clan were far more powerful and influential, as such he faced intense discrimination.
Fate: Building collapsed on him, he used his body to create a hollow in the rubble. Rebar impaled him in nine places and concrete crushed two of his limbs. Died three hours before rescuers dug out the 13 civilians he saved. He died five years after All Might’s debut in Japan and was 36 years old.
 
Name: Amber Bulwark “The Defending Hero”
Quirk: Buckler
Bucker allowed Golden Bulwark to summon two shimmering red-gold bucklers in her fists. Each summoned buckler couldn't leave her hand, but they did provide a minor repelling force.
Hero Rank: Max 7, Average 19, Minimum 199
Hero Type: She was a reliable hero, a defender of the innocent, and humble to boot. Perhaps a bit too humble, she was a people pleaser who was motivated by public admiration and needed positive reinforcement.
Fate: She was hit into a building which snapped her spine. She attended physiotherapy and took on loans to get treatment from expensive quirk aided doctors. Unfortunately, she was unable to meet the demands needed to retain her license that year. In despair she picked a fight with an A class villain and died in the fight. She was 31 and died 14 years after All Might's debut.
 
Name: Goldstar “The Glittering Hero”
Quirk: Glory
Glory grants the user enhanced strength proportional to the number of in person-observers.
Hero Rank: Max of 1, Average 8, Minimum of 98
Hero Style: He was rather superficial and someone who liked attention for more than just the effects of his quirk. He took on a record number of brand endorsements which at the time was very unusual. Nevertheless, he was an admirable hero who saved, at minimum, thousands of lives.
Fate: A villain found out about his weakness and snuck into his house while he was asleep and tried to slit his throat. Unfortunately for the villain, Goldstar had truly earned his place at the top and put up a fight. Despite not being much stronger than a regular person, Goldstar made sure that neither of them walked out of that building alive. This happened three years after All Might's debut and he was 44.
 
Name: Freddy Quicksilver
Quirk: Hermes
Hermes granted him enhanced speed. The faster he ran the more damage to the ground he did.
Hero Rank: Max 1, Average 16, Minimum 81
Hero Style: He was a hero that wanted to raise people's spirits. To give them a sense of belonging no matter whether they fit into the traditional roles of society or didn’t. He was also the mentor to His Purple Highness.
Fate: Unfortunately, he had an encounter with All for One, who stole his quirk and killed him. This was 15 years after All Might's debut, and he was 45.
 
Name: Epoch “The Foresight Hero”
Quirk: Hourglass
Hourglass allows the user to see up to a minute into a potential future. What is experienced in that vision is whatever would happen without any interference. However long is looked into the future is half the time the quirk is then on cooldown.
Hero Rank: Max 7, Average 112, Minimum 194
Hero Style: Debuting the same year as All Might, Epoch was a far more understated hero. His style is a mix of rescue hero work and investigation. He works with other heroes in disaster zones giving them early warning of changes in the situation. Nowadays he has taken a more backseat role in his agency.
Fate: He’s still in operation. Far less active than in his youth, the many years of heroism have taken their toll, leaving him with chronic pain. He’s taken on a sidekick named Needle.
 
Name: Ingenium/Turbo “The High Speed Hero”
Quirk: Engine
Engine grows a pair of engines in the hero's shoulders. As long as he’s drunk enough apple juice, these engines grant him enhanced strength and speed.
Hero Rank: Max 11, Average 28, Minimum 100
Hero Style: Part of the tail end of the first generation of official heroes, Ingenium found it to be a matter of more than just honor to follow the rules, but instead a matter of survival. He raised his kids with these same ideals. He officially passed down the name of Ingenium to his son 9 years after All Might’s debut.
Fate: He fully retired from the family’s agency when he reached the age of 70.
 
Name: Kal-El
Quirk: Icy Veins
Icy Veins grants Kal-El resistance to heat and cold, thermal vision, and frost breath.
Hero Rank: Max 1, Average 23, Minimum 89
Hero Style: Primarily a rescue hero, Kal-El has transferred to even more of an investigator in his later years. The combat focused jobs he tends to leave to his niece.
Fate: Despite being in his early sixties he’s still working at his agency. He has several sidekicks including his niece Zor-El, his son Kon-El, and many employees.

So I wrote this. Recycled ideas, but eventually all of this will be cited. It's basically my own CES Letter. The formatting is weird because this is coming over from Notion.
I had to write this out to start my own deconstruction anyway, but giving it to my spouse will be interesting. Read it if you want. Critique it if you want. I just had to get this out into the universe.

1. The concept that the Church can lie to you
   
   1. Rather than being told the entire truth about Joseph Smith’s death, we are told that he is innocent of any crime and that he went to deliver himself up. The truth of the matter is, Joseph Smith was in jail for destroying the property of William Law, who was creating a newspaper called the Nauvoo Expositor. He ordered the printing press be destroyed and violated the first amendment, as well as destroying another’s property. The newspaper exposed polygamy and many of the other immoralities of the Church. On the surface, this lie doesn’t seem egregious, but D&C 135 section mentions that Joseph was a martyr for the religion, and I was always taught this. However, he didn’t deliver himself up to be killed and it wasn’t because he was a “mormon”; it was because he broke the law and had angered a mob. All of this was a direct result of him practicing polygamy and yielding so much power.
   2. The method of translating the Book of Mormon was largely misrepresented to me as a youth, missionary, and young adult. I was always taught, whether through art or articles, that Joseph used the Gold Plates to translate the Book of Mormon.
   3. However, upon widespread discovery of further quotes and scrutiny, in 2014 the Church admitted that the translation was done through a rock and a hat. This is justified by quoting the Book of Mormon where it talks about bringing forth a stone to shine forth in the darkness. (Alma 37:23-24). The methods of translation accounts differ from each other. Martin Harris saying they were done by sitting across the table. Oliver Cowdery saying it was done by the urim and thummim or two stones and spectacles. To be clear, I am okay with some ambiguity surrounding the translation, or it being by the power of God. What I’m not okay with is the church deceiving how it was done until the internet era forced them to release the Gospel Topic Essays on this subject.
   4. The implementation of polygamy. a. Left ambiguous for a reason. How Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, Wilford Woodruff, Heber C. Kimball and many other high ranking church members took many wives including teenage wives. The church’s essay on this topic refers to Helen Mar Kimball, a 14 year old, as “several months before her 15th birthday.” In fact, they even say that Helen said it was for “eternity alone” but that is an out of context poem from Helen’s journal. There is no proof of sexual relations, but there are proof in many other relatoinships, including Fanny Alger, Joseph’s first “wife” that Oliver Cowdery called a filthy affair. He was excommunicated partly due to that statement. b. Joseph Smith wrote a letter to 19-year old Nancy Rigdon propositioning her to marry him after she denied his appeal in 1842. This letter is quoted in General Conference many times over the years, “Happiness is the object and design of our existence, and will be the end thereof if we pursue the path that leads to it; and this path is virtue, uprightness, faithfulness, holiness, and keeping all the commandments of God.” He then goes on to tell her that we cannot obey the commandments if we don’t know them and what seems wrong, can actually be right in certain circumstances. He quotes the times God has contradicted Himself in the scriptures. This letter is gross. Note that it comes right before the plural marriage revelation D&C 132. c. Joseph claimed that an angel with a drawn sword made him marry Zina Huntington Jacobs, despite her engagement to Henry Jacobs. He sent Henry on missions. She did stay faithful and was eventually sealed to Brigham Young, who also subsequently sent Henry Jacobs on missions. d. This doesn’t even take into account the actions of preceeding prophets who were married to dozens of women, sealed to hundreds, and many of them were underage. Wilford Woodruff for instance sealed himself to a 6 year old girl who had passed away, inexplicably. Maybe he didn’t know? Maybe he did? Who knows.
   5. D&C 132- Joseph Smith was sealed to over 20 wives before being sealed to Emma. He denied being polygamous publicly multiple times and the relief society (of which, Emma was president) wrote a letter condemning polygamy, while one of the presidency members was sealed to Joseph.
      1. Law of Sarah was violated before it was ever implemented
      2. Joseph performing a second marriage to the Whitney sisters after Emma approved it.
      3. Women must be virgins, while Joseph was married to other married women (at least 2).
      4. Abraham was not commanded by God to practice plural marriage, he was asked by Sarah to marry Hagoth because Sarah was barren.
      5. Additionally, Jacob condemns polygamy in the Book of Mormon but then God okays it in the D&C 132, both of them specifically citing the examples of Soloman and David.
      6. Plural marriage is the “new and everlasting covenant” implying that plural marriage in the celestial kingdom will be the new and everlasting covenant and required.
      7. 5. Historicity of the Book of Abraham There is an entire Gospel Topics Essay on this but the background is as follows. A guy named Michael Chandler shows up in Kirland with mummies and a bunch of scrolls. They were unearthed by Napoleon’s raiding of the Egyptian catacombs. Joseph believes that they are scrolls that contained writings of Abraham. He begins translation in 1835 and publishes it in May of 1842. The odds that these mummies, coming from a salesman who had a lot to gain, containing the written word of Abraham has always seemed really fortunate. In the Pearl of Great Price, the heading says they are penned by “the hand of Abraham” but according to scholars in and out of the church, they were written much later. “These fragments date to between the third century B.C.E. and the first century C.E., long after Abraham lived.” Not only is it not written by Abraham’s hand, it is also not anything to do with Abraham. In Joseph’s time, the Rosetta Stone had not been widely discovered. He began translating this book and now, experts know that these are standard funerary texts. The Facsimiles (pictures) have nothing to do with the sacrifice of Abraham. Everyone virtually agrees that what is on the remains of the scroll (most of which was lost in the Chicago fire but then recovered), is not what Joseph translated. This casts a large shadow of doubt on Joseph’s ability to translate. The Church is admitting that Joseph translated incorrectly. The only way to reconcile this is that Joseph used these scrolls to channel the Spirit to record what is in the Book of Abraham today. The doctrines in Abraham largely expand on the Genesis story but go deeper in doctrines about plurality of Gods and the creation of the universe and stars. Some of this goes against the Book of Mormon’s view of God. The Authenticity of the Book of Mormon
      8. This is arguably the largest domino that needs to stay in place. Here are a few quotes demonstrating the absolute necessity of the Book of Mormon being an authentic history of the peoples on this continent.
      9. “The Book of Mormon is God’s compelling witness of the divinity of Jesus Christ, the prophetic calling of Joseph Smith, and the absolute truth of this Church.” - Tad R. Callister
      10. “The Book of Mormon is the most important religious text to be revealed from God to man ‘since the writings of the New Testament were compiled nearly two millennia ago.’ Joseph Smith declared the Book of Mormon to be “the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion.” It is the only book that the Lord Himself has testified to be true.” - President Nelson
      11. “I testify that one cannot come to full faith in this latter-day work—and thereby find the fullest measure of peace and comfort in these, our times—until he or she embraces the divinity of the Book of Mormon and the Lord Jesus Christ, of whom it testifies…and if he or she leaves this Church, it must be done by crawling over or under or around the Book of Mormon to make that exit. In that sense the book is what Christ Himself was said to be: “a stone of stumbling, … a rock of offence,” a barrier in the path of one who wishes not to believe in this work.” - Jeffrey R. Holland.
      12. "All that we have, all that we do hinge on the truth of that account of the boy Joseph Smith. If it is true, then everything that we have in this Church is true and is more precious and worth more than anything else on earth. If it is false, we are engaged in the greatest fraud that was ever perpetrated on earth.” - Gordon B Hinckley
      13. So with all that being said, this is my biggest stumbling block. I will begin with my own issues with the book that happened long before I was ever introduced to anything outside of approved Church material.
      14. The Sermon on the Mount given to the Nephites in 3 Nephi matches almost exactly to the one given in Matthew, with slight changes. He sets up a church similar to the one set up with Peter. But, the only issue is years later, Joseph Smith writes the JST and corrects different things in the Matthew version of the Sermon. But, if the Book of Mormon is the most correct book on earth, wouldn’t the writings have been exactly what the Savior meant?
      15. 2 Nephi 3 - Book of Mormon writes Joseph into the text relating a prophecy given to Joseph in Egypt, saying that a choice seer will be raised up and he will be named the Joseph after his father. 2 Nephi 3: 14-16
      16. There is a huge time lapse between Jarom and Omni to get us into Mosiah. 399 BC to 130 BC. The prophets basically write nothing and it seems like it’s just a transition to get to Mosiah.
      17. Ammon chopping off a ton of arms and all the people bring them to the king. The story of Ammon in general is crazy. The King is struck down for 3 days and his wife thinks he is dead. Then, Ammon converts this king who then goes and rescues Ammon’s brothers from another king.
      18. Other direct copies from the New Testament and Paul specifically found in the Book of Mormon. Moroni 7 is basically the same phrasing and concepts taught in 1 Corinthians 13. 2 Nephi 4:17 says “O wrteched man that I am” matches exactly to Romans 7:24.
      19. Alma the Younger’s story mirrors Paul the apostles history almost exactly. Both are destroying the church, get struck down by an Angel, go on to become amazing missionaries and even both appear before King’s and wicked people.
      20. The concepts taught in the Book of Mormon are basically christian. They are practicing Christianity as soon as middle of Mosiah, which is like 100BC. They are baptizing and confirming with the Holy Ghost. However, since Christ hadn’t fulfilled the law of Moses and they should’ve been practicing the Mosaic law. The book contains basically zero Mosaic and Hebrew traditions, which Lehi and his family would have been sharply familiar with. Instead, they practice Christianity before Jesus had even been born or practiced the Atonement.
      21. Joseph Smith almost never quotes from it. In fact, I’ve searched and searched and only found him reference it maybe once or twice. If this book is so important, shouldn’t it had been quoted from extensively. It doesn’t become a huge focus until basically the 1980s with Ezra Taft Benson started “flooding the earth with the Book of Mormon.” I’ve read Brigham Young’s entire Discourses of Brigham Young and he rarely mentions the Book of Mormon. While this proves very little, it just intensifies the idea to me that Joseph wrote it and did not consider it authentic scripture, even for himself.
      22. King Zedekiah Problem - The timeline of when Nephi left Jerusalem in the reign of King Zedekiah in preparation for the destruction of Jerusalem. But, King Nebuchednezzar had already invaded Judah twice by 599BC., two years prior to the Book of Mormon. He then Installed Zedekiah (formerly known as Mattaniah) as King of Jerusalem (2 Kings 24:11-18). So what does this mean?
      23. I will leave out the potential influences here because I do not think they are helpful nor likely to be true source material for the Book of Mormon. I think they are largely speculation and created just to create doubt without much validity or true sources. Do we know if Joseph accessed these works? Not really. But, it’s possible. There are a myriad of other problems with the Book of Mormon when examined scientifically, but that doesn’t really bother me so much. The church has an essay on DNA of Israelites not being in “Lamanite” or native american blood, despite many church leaders preaching that for years. It’s even included in the Book of Mormon title page until like 2006 or something. Additionally, Joseph Smith almost never quotes or teaches from the Book of Mormon. If it’s the most correct book of any on the earth, why is he not basing his sermons off these stories and scriptures?
      24. The Book of Mormon require that 3 key events from the Bible be literal events: a global flood in the times of Noah that covered the entire earth, Adam and Eve in the garden, and different languages occuring because God cursed people at the Tower of Babel.
      25. When I read the Book of Mormon, if I view it from a purely protestant view, it matches up doctrinally. In fact, it matches more purely with a presbyterian or methodist view of the atonement and doctrines (including the original trinitarian concepts taught in the Book before changes by Joseph Smith in 1837, eight years after the Book of Mormon was published and his first vision account that mentions God and Jesus being separate beings)
      26. The Charles Anthon Story is posed as a faith promoting story and prophecy fulfillment of Isaiah 29:11-12, where the learned wouldn’t be able to read a sealed book. So here’s the Church Narrative as found in JSH.
      27. Once i take off my believing member hat and look at this story objectively, it looks to me like complete and total BS. I am honestly insulted that this was taught and passed off to me as some amazing prophecy of Isaiah that was passed on to me.

Disavowed teachings and behavior of former prophets and leaders.

1. Brigham Young
   1. Adam-God theory was taught in the temple and considered straight doctrine by the “prophet” Brigham Young.
   2. Blood Atonement was also taught in the early Utah days
   3. Brigham taught that no man can receive the highest exaltation without taking on extra wives.
   4. Brigham young definitely was in approval (either before or after) of the Mountain Meadows Massacre, which is the slaughtering of innocent immigrants heading west. They luckily spared the smallest children and raised them Mormon. He scapegoated John D Lee who suffered the death penalty, despite being rewarded with “wives” by Brigham Young prior to that. Hmmmm
2. Blacks and the Priesthood
   1. So so so many quotes could go under here talking about how black people would never receive priesthood or temple covenants. The list could go on. I don’t need to repeat them all but in the Gospel Topics Essays, the Church disavows all racist teachings from the past.
   2. Book of Mormon and Abraham still talk about the curse of dark skin. The Lamanites are cursed but then will become “white and delightsome” as they repent (according to Spencer W. Kimball)
   3. How many prophets were completely wrong on this topic? Even after the Civil Rights movement which was going on 15 years earlier. The Church always seeems to be a step behind.
3. Polygamy
   1. Again, I could write a book on how much early leaders emphasized the heavenly requirement for a man to have multiple wives.
   2. Wilford Woodruff was sealed to like a 200 something wives on his birthday, including a six year old who had passed away. This can be found on FamilySearch
   3. The leaders of the Church didn’t stop practicing polygamy until around 1910, which is 20 years after the Manifesto, forced upon them by the US Government. This policy change wasn’t inspiration — to was a matter of the Mormons keeping their stuff or not.
4. Science
   1. Age of the Earth — Joseph Smith says that the earth has a temporal existence of 7,000 years before it will receive it’s eternal glory. This was a common thought back then and ties back into the Old Testament timeline. I was taught this in Seminary. Going back to Adam and Seth, then to Abraham and to modern day. It all lines up so that the Second Coming will be happening soon.
   2. Adam + Eve — This one is very hard for me to get past because the proof is indisputable: human life did not begin 6,000 years ago by two human beings. There was physical death long before it was introduced by the partaking of the forbidden fruit. It is fact. To deny it would be like denying that the Earth is round or orbits the Sun. So is this an allegory? Well Joseph Smith down to current general authorities have taught that this is LITERAL. The temple clearly emphasizes this. This is something BIG to get wrong. Considering Joseph Smith taught that it happened in the garden of Eden which was in Missouri.
   3. Noah’s Ark — This has to be literal as it is in the Book of Mormon as a fact. It’s also been “revealed” to have been a literal, global flood that covered the earth and cleansed the earth of all inhabitants. We also have doctrine in our church that says modern day revelation has confirmed this fact. But, this “story” is largely based on the Babylonian tale “The Epic of Gilgamesh.” It was recorded before the Hebrew Bible recorded the tale of Noah. The stories are earily similar and there are so many throughout other cultures of a great flood. Maybe that makes it more likely? Or maybe it was just a prevailing thought in that time period. Either way, scientific evidence knows that Noah’s Ark never happened because a huge flood never happened. And ask yourself, how in the world would they get all the animals on a boat? Is this really realistic?
   4. Tower of Babel — This is the genesis of the Jaredites. The Lord was confounding the language of the people, so the Brother of Jared goes and asks that they are spared. Eventually they are led to the Americas (which has a host of other problems). But, this story has to be literal because that’s exactly what’s happening in the Jaredite civilization to lead them to cross the ocean. But language evolved over tens of thousands of years and had nothing to do with a tower in around 2500 BC.
   5. Evolution — This fact goes along with Adam and Eve. Modern day prophets have disavowed this fact. In fact, Joseph Fielding Smit said “If evolution is true, the church is false” in Doctrines of Salvation, which was written while he was the prophet.

1. Sexual Assault Cover Ups - This one is pretty self explanatory. There are hundreds of occasions and the most recent ones in the news are pretty disgusting. The fact that the Church didn’t report, and had systems in place to protect itself rather than the victims, makes me sick.
   
2. First Vision Accounts - In many Church media films and the way I was taught at a young age, Joseph had the first vision and then was mocked by the people of Palmyra for believing in visions. I had not idea that this was not the case. In fact, Joseph never wrote anything down until 1832. The accounts from 1832, 1835, 1838, and 1842 paint a picture of someone who was expanding, molding, and letting this vision evolve. The reasons why he went out to pray in the trees changes. First, it’s to receive a remission of his sins. He also says in that account that he’s already concluded that the church’s of his day are fallen. Then it evolves. He also says the Lord appears. Then it’s angels. Then it’s the Lord and His Father. He mentions that it had never entered his heart that they were all wrong in the Canonized JSH we have in the Pearl of Great Price. But, then he says he already knew they were wrong in earlier versions? In fact, Asa Wild and Norris Stearns have visions in 1815 and 1823 in the same area as Joseph Smith and the verbiage used is similar. Norris Stearns says, “At length, as I lay apparently upon the brink of eternal woe, seeing nothing but death before me, suddenly there came a sweet flow of the love of God to my soul, which gradually increased. At the same time, there appeared a small gleam of light in the room, above the brightness of the sun, then at his meridian, which grew brighter and brighter: As this light and love increased, my sins began to separate, and the Mountain [of sin] removed towards the east. At length, being in an ecstasy of joy, I turned to the other side of the bed, (whether in the body or out I cannot tell, God knoweth) there I saw two spirits, which I knew at the first sight. But if I had the tongue of an Angel I could not describe their glory, for they brought the joys of heaven with them. One was God, my Maker, almost in bodily shape like a man. His face was, as it were a flame of Fire, and his body, as it had been a Pillar and a Cloud. In looking steadfastly to discern features, I could see none, but a small glimpse would appear in some other place. Below him stood Jesus Christ my Redeemer, in perfect shape like a man-His face was not ablaze, but had the countenance of fire, being bright and shining. His Father’s will appeared to be his! All was condescension, peace, and love!”
   

Ultimately, all of these issues paint a picture, right? The character flaws and mistranslations of Joseph Smith, along with the setting in which he was raised all take away from his prophetic ability. There are more issues that I haven’t even touched on. LGBT issues, the treatment of women, the kinderhook plates, etc. There are more issues touched on in the CES Letter. But, these are things that stick in my mind when I try to imagine believing the Church is true again.
I believe Joseph Smith started writing the Book of Mormon to make money. Then, when it got close to publishing, he decided to start a religion. With the help of Sidney Rigdon, the Church grew and he introduced different aspects of "the Restoration" and eventually the power went to his head.
Being "prophet" brought him three things key for cult leaders. Money. Sex. Power. He got his living taken care of and people built him a house. He had around 40 polygamous wives and preyed on underage girls. He was dubbed king of the world by the Council of the 50 and was Mayor of Nauvoo.
How can I conclude anything other than him being a cult leader? This barely even touches on Brigham and the subsequent prophets that made huge mistakes.

I'll need to write up some stuff from the visits to Six Flags Great Adventure and Nick Universe (American Dream) later, despite those being the earlier stops.
Today's visit to Coney Island was one of the reasons for this NYC trip. Amazing area. Really enjoyed myself.
Let's start off with the Zamperla operated Luna Park attractions -

• TICKLER -- The standard spinning wild mouse layout. Nothing notable, a bit jarring in spots. IMO Zamperla should seriously consider upgrading this to one of their newer models if the CP Wild Mouse is anything to go by.
  
• STEEPLECHASE -- That launch seriously packs a punch. Best of the Zamperla-built coasters here by far. Not too rough, but not perfectly smooth. Restraints are also more uncomfortable than I remembered from when I rode Pony Express at Knotts a while back.
  
• SOARIN' EAGLE -- Ugh. Ow. Volare. Why?
  
• THUNDERBOLT -- I had read someone say this thing rode like a "shopping cart with square wheels" (might have been noxegon but not sure) but holy crap... What the hell did they do wrong that it rattles so much on straight track? The track profile isn't bad in the mostly straight sections & loop, but every turn, roll, etc. felt like it had been designed section by section with no proper transitioning/smoothing.
  
• CYCLONE -- The one and only. A true historical marker. The trains are so unique. Cramped and small seating, but comfortably cushioned. Seems it is time for some more significant trackwork though, it was honestly a bit rougher than I was expecting. It wasn't unbearable, but it wasn't great. Still the king of the Coney coasters, amazing laterals, decent airtime in spots.
  

Did a few other flats (the DiskO, the super Air Race, the tower swing) as well. Got the money's worth out of the wristband at least. Oh, speaking of which, it's kinda dumb that those are timed for 4 hours from time of redemption...
Now, for Deno's. First off, galacticsounds is the nicest person. Thank you again so much for meeting with me and my friend for a bit. I hope for all the best for you and the park this summer.

• THE WONDER WHEEL -- Amazing. For as old as it is, it's an amazing experience. Loved the ride in the swinging cars.
  
• PHOENIX -- aka the rollercoaster that rose from one of the coolest posts ever on rollercoasters -- How Vekoma crammed so much track into this plot is amazing. Smooth. Got 3 rides in. Back has some whippy bites. Front has spectacular views. DJ, congrats on having such a spectacular coaster (as I said in person, for it's size) and thank you for actively showing off so much of the process to the sub.
  

I also did the Spook-a-rama. I'm not a haunted house fan. I'm not a jumpscare fan. I did this anyway since I had heard about it. Never again. Not because it's a bad ride, but because I am a chicken and this was not something I enjoyed. Great to see the park keeping the oldest attractions running regardless.

Hey fellow Redditors,
I'm seeking some advice on investing in the S&P 500 and could really use your expertise. Here's a little background on my financial situation:
I'm 25 years old and currently have $11,000 in my savings. My main financial goal is to save up enough money to eventually buy a house and live comfortably with my future wife (current girlfriend). I also want to ensure financial stability if we have kids. I receive around $1,000 extra every month that I would like to invest.
Other consideration factors include:

My wife has a son (just turned 11) and a daughter (she's "basically 13" if your listen to her) from a previous marriage. I'll call the son Nick for this. He has some sight, but is legally blind. My wife and I married in January and moved in together at that time. Everything was good until mid April. Nick started having panic attacks whenever there was a bug in the house (he's always had an issue with bugs, something about not being able to see them makes him uncomfortable, but this was extreme). He got much more clingy with my wife, even though he's at that age where most boys start to distance themselves more from their moms. Then a couple weeks ago, he started having attacks right before bed, he shakes and can't fall asleep. He says he thinks he hears noises, despite the fact that we're in a very quiet neighborhood and their previous neighborhood had tons of traffic noise and weekly gunshot noises. He feels like someone is watching him, so we put a light in his room so he can see no one is in the room and we've been putting the dog in his room who will bark if anyone comes in, but he still feels too triggered to sleep. He basically stays awake until exhaustion makes him pass out. He otherwise can't point to anything specific, just bad feelings. We've tried doing what we can, reassuring him that he's safe, that nothing bad has happened to him in the house, using logic about the kinds of noises he might think he's hearing, calming music/stream noises, and more.
My wife had anxiety for years any time her ex communicated with her, which was a lot for about 8 years, apparently. She still gets PTSD symptoms when he messages her about something that isn't scheduled, like pickups for the kids. So she understands some of what he's going through (I don't, my life has been very blessed so I'm completely out of my depth here) and she has tried to explain everything to him and use that knowledge to reassure him.
We're trying to get him into therapy. He sees a speech therapist weekly to help with communication skills (there is so much to raising a blind child that you don't even think about, and communication issues are a big one) and part of that involves communicating emotions and describing your feelings. So my wife asked the speech therapist to go over some of that with him. After a couple sessions focusing on the anxiety, she decided he needed a dedicated therapist for that. So she put in a referral and the insurance company approved it. All that's left is for my wife's ex to sign the consent form, but he won't do it. He's a narcissist and was abusive towards my wife and he's always been against the kids going to therapy, partly because he still likes to exercise control over my wife whenever he can and partly because he's worried what the kids might say as child therapists are mandatory reporters in my state. My wife is currently talking with her lawyer to possibly file a motion with the court to force the matter, but that takes time. So, in the mean time, is there anything we can do for him?
Some things that might add useful context for his anxiety:
Because of a combination of my wife living in a small apartment and his infirmity, Nick slept in my wife's room until a couple years ago. My wife had a bunk bed for the kids that she found out after the purchase she couldn't assemble on her own, so I assembled it for her after we started dating. After that, he would sleep occasionally in his sister's room. I would usually visit on weekends when they're with their dad, so it wasn't a priority to move him permanently until we moved in together. But, despite him at first being worried about having to sleep in his own room regularly in a new house, he was doing fine until April.
My wife was rear-ended with both kids in the car in March of 2022. He was hurt fairly badly (some muscle bruising, no broken bones, but hit his head on the back of the driver seat), had to go to PT, and had low-grade anxiety about riding in the car for several months after. But he was doing well since about August/September, and he was never this bad while he was going through all that.
The first time he was unable to sleep, he had come back from his dad's house (they go there Friday morning to Monday night). I'm convinced something happened there, but that he doesn't have the context or vocabulary to understand what that might be.
He's nervous about going into middle school next year. He's been in a special class for blind children for the past 3 years and had a blind teacher and only like 7 kids in the class. His sister has been telling him about middle school and how hard the classes are and how many kids are in each class and how there's all these fights (she went to a pretty bad school, but they're both going to a much better middle school next year) and how he will have to go to a bunch of different classrooms throughout the day. So he's concerned about all that.
He's a, frankly, pretty weak kid. Physically, mentally, emotionally. He's always overreacted to teasing from his sister. Whenever you give him any amount of criticism, he shuts down. Whenever he encounters anything that is the least bit difficult due to his blindness, he just gives up (rather than cut his chicken or whatever, he'll take like two bites and then ask if he can be done with dinner). If you tell him that he can't have dessert or seconds or candy or whatever (he's overweight and eats like shit at his dad's house so my wife is trying to help him lose weight), he shuts down and looks like you just kicked his dog. He has trouble lifting things that an 11 year old should have no problem with (he takes swimming lessons and can't pull himself out of the pool).
His dad and stepmother basically ignore him. He sits in his room at their house and just watches/plays stuff on a tablet. Nick says he puts on YouTube on his projector in his room there until he falls asleep from exhaustion. The dad claims that he hasn't noticed any anxiety, but Nick and his sister say their dad hardly pays him any mind over there. They almost never go out and do any sort of activities, and half the times their dad did decide to go out, Nick gets left behind.
