The concussion blasts reverberated through the ears of the hundreds of people either yelling "what" at one another or pretending to hear what the other person had actually said and laughing drunkenly. The “Rotterdam Club” was Stephen’s favorite place of business.
It was wall to wall people dancing erratically and the floor itself had become invisible under a sea of dancing feet. As his eyes were scanning the venue for something interesting, his gaze fell on an intriguing dark silhouette facing away from him. A pale woman with a beautifully twisted aura stood still just like him a few feet away. Finally, she turned around and she stared back…as if she knew him, as if he knew her. And Stephen’s mind finally solved the puzzle as this girl’s image erupted in his stream of fractured memories…The girl in his nightmares, in his dreams, the dark omen, the goth girl who dies holding his hand. Hey, I’m looking for a semi-literate partner to roleplay with. The story will take place in a rather big city which hides a few esoteric secrets. The vibe would be something in the middle between Stephen King-esque grittiness, Lovecraftian existential dread, and the interpersonal horror of the World of Darkness universe in addition to some Silent Hill bizarreries. Therefore, the themes of this story will be tied to esoteric thriller mysteries, interpersonal horror, and unattainable (toxic?) love which is my favorite thing to write/read about. The characters we play would be ordinary people who fall victim to the arbitrary and unknowable dark Supernatural. They have little to no Supernatural abilities or nature. They're humans who are just trying to survive.

It is no doubt that the UK is hit with one of the highest rates of inflation in Europe. Additionally, it's one of the few G7 countries which was expected to have a shrinking economy this year. This prediction has merely changed from "shrinking" to "not shrinking" and not really steadily growing.
These are some of the "macro" issues in the UK atm. The problems on the ground affecting every-day people include, but aren't limited to:
  1. Sharp increase in grocery prices.
  2. Expensive housing prices
  3. Record High Rents
  4. An overburdened Healthcare System
  5. Underfunded Neighborhoods, violent crime, etc.
With all these issues (and many more), what is the proper road to recovery for the UK? Or do you feel they are beyond repair at this point?

I lived in apartments most my life and constantly had bad neighbors above and below. I started renting single family home's and eventually purchased one mostly due to wanting some peace and quiet.
I plan to rent out my current house and downsize a bit renting in another town for a while. I found a really cute townhouse in a nice neighborhood. My question is how does the noise from neighbors compare to apartments in a townhouse? I was planning on downsizing to a small single family house but for approx $500 less I can have a nice townhouse that fits my needs. It does have neighbors on both sides, middle unit. In Apts I never really heard my neighbors to the side of me.
This townhouse was built in 2011. For those of you who lived in both, is the noise considerably less? Obviously if someone is blasting music with bass I expect to hear it, but otherwise is it mostly quiet? Or does it really depend on the construction & date built?

I’m considering the Bosch 500 counter-depth refrigerator. The 500 has one compressor and exterior wateice dispenser. My space is only 70” tall, otherwise I’d get the 800 (dual compressors/interior water dispenser) in a heartbeat.
My main question is this: most of the good reviews for Bosch fridges are for the 800. Is the 500 similar enough? Sometimes different lines have completely different interior builds and are even subbed out to different manufacturers.
2nd question: I see a lot of sales for the 500. Do you know if it’s being discontinued? Or if they are rolling out new models?

I am subleasing from someone but they have roommates which I don’t mind, the rent is very affordable for me and that’s why I took the opportunity as soon as it came up. However, the conditions of the apartment are very unsanitary and honestly, disgusting. The fridge is flooded with rotten food, the bathroom is unsanitary and the hallway has a bunch of stuff lying in it at all times. This has been impacting my mental health severely. I tried talking to the person I am subleasing from but they basically said it is what it is.
I am here looking for advice on how I can deal with this situation and asking if someone is renting out their room/any space from June 20-July 25th. My budget is 500-900. I would be very very grateful for any help.

Elves may be coming but if you don't get Arwen to 5-stars, your elves won't have an Elf leader (Elrond) for quite awhile, assuming 5-stars are required for the event and that 5 characters are needed.

CG, of course, has a solution for that at 1000 gems each with an expectation that a player would spend about 8000 gems to get Arwen to 5-stars. With luck it would be less but for some, it would be more since 1000 gems can land you only 12 Arwen shards per attempt. You need 130 to go from 4-stars to 5-stars.

With 8k as a baseline, it would take a player ranked Gold 1 in arena (ranked 150 to 249) over 2 months to acquire enough gems to get Arwen to 5-stars, assuming (a) he has completed the Arwen event and has Arwen at 4-stars and (b) player isn't one of the lucky few that gets 12 Arwen shards per attempt.

So my quick estimation, only free-to-pay players (ftp) who are ranked top 10 in arena can get Elrond in the first go-around. I suspect the total number would be actually zero since they have only 25 days left to earn enough gems to get Arwen to 5-stars and that I don't believe there are any FTPs in the top 10.

So the mad rush for Elves would probably be in Sept/Oct when the event comes around again -- assuming it does, this should give you enough time to acquire the gold needed to upgrade all your elves to 5-stars. At nearly 250k each, that's 1,249,500 in total. With gear, you might have to spend a combined total of 2.5 million or more. Assuming 90 days till next Elrond event, you will need to earn 28k gold per day (or alternatively save 28k per day and spend the rest).

You will also need to stock up on gear pieces, especially the light crystals. Otherwise, you'll have saved up all this gold and nothing to spend it on.

To make matters a little bit more complicated is the recently announced Elladan (https://www.reddit.com/HeroesOfMiddleEarth/comments/144esjg/exclusive_elladan_kit_reveal/). Currently, Elrohir retaliates whenever a character on the team with provoke or taunt is attacked. This retaliation is what makes Elrohir a good character. Elladan is the only elf that can enable this retaliation via his provoke. He makes Elrohir useful for Elves.

Depending on how quickly and easily a player can get Elladan shards in time for the second go around, players might be upgrading heroes for Elrond that they will never use again. This is similar to how we play Marvel Strike Force as we had built up entire teams to 7-stars that we don't use other than in blitz and that one time during the legendary event.

Including Arwen, there are 5 elves in the game so already, there will be at least one 5-star elf. For those who earned Elrond in the first pass, they would be dropping two 5-star elves as those two would be replaced by Elrond and most probably Elladan.

So players might have an elf squad consisting of 5-star Arwen, 5-star Elrohir, 5-star Elladan, and two random 5-star left overs from the remaining bottom three to get Elrond. One of those random bottom dwellers will eventually be replaced with said Elrond in the long term.

Or they might have 5-star Arwen, 5-star Elrohir, and three random 5-star blokes with 2 of those blokes to be replaced with Elrond and Elladan eventually.

Or they might have 5-star Elrohir, 5-star Elladan, and three random 5-star blokes with 2 of those blokes to be replaced with Elrond and Arwen eventually.

Or they might only have the current list of elves to use so that's Arwen and four random 5-star blokes.

In this scenario, it would be best to hold up on upgrading the left overs and just farm their shards only until you would know if you can get both 5-star Elladan and 5-star Arwen in the second go around and figure out which left overs you like. Of the list of left overs, you will have to figure out which ones you like the most as some will be dropped eventually. This will help you decide on how much you want to gear up these "left overs" beyond gear level 3 if at all.

You might recall that one of the quest objectives in the game is to reach 5 stars for 5 light characters. This won't give you any gold to upgrade the gear levels when you accomplish this. You'll just get more shards for Strider, a ranger.

And in the future, to counter these Elves and their nimble, you might need a lot of "eagle eyes" on your team. This could make Halbarad even more valuable as he grants the "can't miss" eagle eye to team mates. Mírie is another. Both are rangers like Strider. Rangers already have a leader in Halbarad (and technically Strider too) but there's only 4 of them (one leader, 2 attackers, 1 support). Rangers don't have a character with a healer tag for instance so perhaps #5 would be a new healer for the game. Or CG can add another support that removes debuffs from the team.

However, focusing on rangers (besides Halbarad and Strider) depends on how easily Elladan dies so eagle eyes might not be needed. As we know from Rohan's Eothain, tanks can die quickly when everyone is attacking the same target.

For arena, you might consider a mix team of Elves and Rangers. If you were focusing on elves heavily, then your other characters such as Isengards and Rohans might have gone stale in three months time and you would have a selection of 5-star characters to choose from in Elves (5 of them) and Rangers (most likely Strider).

For raids, I have no idea since it isn't open. In MSF, we have entire teams devoted to raids in order to do well. We can use other characters but they can get destroyed and thus a waste of time to upgrade those.

I can’t afford anything else and I was wondering what other people do when they are in the situation. Do you guys get a job and risk your SSI payments being lowered? Because from what I saw if I have a job they will just lower it until I end up making the same exact amount of money they are paying me per month. i’m really confused because I need more income in order to survived but I need to finish school in order to actually begin a career and so on and so forth. any advice on this?

It's going to be for general use and some mid-tier games
Note: It has approximately 1 year of use and all the components look in good shape. I'm planning on upgrading in the future but I don't know if it is worth it.

2023.06.10 00:08 HovercraftStock4986 Fraudulent production company with illegal interns/employees, what do I do?

My girlfriend, K, works for a production company that runs and hosts concerts. She and many other employees are not legally working for the company, as they don't get any W2 or similar tax forms, they all get paid through Cashapp/Venmo, and nobody reports these payments as income when they do their taxes. The only real employees are the 3 top managers/owners, who I assume DO pay taxes. She gets paid $500 a month, whilst everyone else gets $200 a month, working nearly full-time, 8 hours 4 days a week plus working 5-15 hour shows one or more times a week.
The job sucks, the managers/owners are horrible in terms of management, organization, and ability to treat people like people, specifically K. She and other interns frequently go weeks or months without receiving payment, and are punished when they ask for compensation for their work. They constantly expect interns to do extra work advertising without pay for hours every week.
Is there any way she can report this company and get something out of it without also getting in trouble for not reporting her online payments as income?

I have just hit my face on a broken server with no visible Portainer anymore. Already checked OMV forum and tried everything in the guide and wiki, but all I get when I click Up in the Files section of Compose plugin for the portainer-omv-extras entry is a 500 - Internal Server Error.
Please help, I'm rather rookie on selfhosting and I have no idea what else to do. I have an Orange Pi 3 LTS (arm64) and a Lenovo Esprimo (x64), both are broken the same way all at once after an update.

2023.06.10 00:07 Professional_Still15 I need to ask an employer for an amount of money that is survivable in Canada/Montreal. Looking for input.

Hi all I am a software developer who has been working in the US for the last two years on a project. I was very comfortable, but was living off my per diem from the American company. My actual salary is in a much weaker currency, and it is not possible to survive in North America on this salary.
I have been able to add much value to this project over the last two years, and have been offered jobs by the client and have been told I am adding immense value by all higher ups multiple times, both privately and in meetings, and have developed a personal relationship with the client on this basis.
The company I work for is a sub contractor to an UScompany that got the contract from an US client.
I am a dual citizen, with Canada being one of the countries I am a citizen of. I went to Canada on holiday, and was denied entry on my attempt to reenter - apparently I actually did not have my paperwork in order this whole time and have been in the US illegally since the beginning.
Drama aside, I am now stuck in Canada while I attempt to sort out my paperwork and apply for the correct permits to go back to site (if they let me back in). The main contractor wants to send me back to my home country to work remotely from there, as they don't believe I will be able to add the same value while not being on site at the project, and are unwilling to continue supporting my life in North America.
I disagree, and had set myself up before I left to be able to continue adding the same value, and also believe that being in the same time zone as the project is an actual must in order for me to make the most of this situation. I am hoping to swing this so that I stay in Canada permanently, only going to site when necessary.

I also want to stay in Canada at all costs instead of being sent back, as my home country is rife with political uncertainty and infrastructure issues.
I approached the client, the one who offered me a job, and broached the idea of being contracted directly from my company instead of contracting me indirectly through the main contractor. I cleared this with all parties ahead of time, and everyone agreed that if I can make it work they are all for it.
They asked me what I would be looking for in terms remuneration, and I said I would need to do some research into the average cost of living in Canada.
Now, I don't want to ask the client for a full competitve salary. My plan is to ask for enough to live fairly comfortably in an ok area in a small studio apartment, with enough money for food, transport, rent, tax, some money to entertain myself and basic living expenses.
The average salary for what I do in Canada is around $100k. I do not need to earn this, as being a permanent resident in Canada will open many business opportunities for the company I work for, and I see much opportunity for personal growth.
All I need is a basic existence for the next few months while I prove that I can add value from Canada and that it is worth keeping me on, and dispel any doubts about my ability to add value from here.
Does anyone have any thoughts or resources I can look at to determine what my minimum parameters might be?

Okay, I'll try to keep this short but give as much info as possible. My brother just called me, he lives in South Carolina. He asked me about some loan stuff with banks and then asked me if 500% interest was normal. I have never seen a loan with 500% interest. His credit score was in the 600s when he got the loan. The original loan amount was for $1900 and he has paid over 6k to them so far, $400 payments every 2 weeks. Less than $50 has gone to principle. He got the loan through Credit Karma.
I have some screenshots he sent me of his loan agreement and payments through their app. The LA looks super fishy, definitely doesn't look like loan agreements I have had in the past. If I can post the screens in a comment, then I can do an imgur link. Not sure if that's allowed.
The company is listed as: AWL II, Inc. 3910 W. 6th Ave, Box 277 Stillwater, OK, 74074.
I have no idea what to do or what to tell him. A loan like this seems predatory. Can he report this to someone? Or do anything about it, besides paying if off in one fell swoop, which he said they wouldn't let him do or said he couldn't do that right now. Any info would be appreciated. We are kinda in a panic over this. He admitted to me that he wasn't keeping track of stuff bc it was all autopay. And now we are wondering if he can do anything about it?
