2023.06.08 08:30 dianamisu I put together a pc list, but have no idea if it is okay for my needs

Hello. I am planning to buy a workstation for my home. This is the build that I put together without huge knowledge of computers. Would there be something to improve or change?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/DXGj3y
What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
Adobe creative cloud. Photoshop, illustrate and AfterEffects the most. I do motion graphics for a living. All the games that I like to play won't be more power hungry than that - Cities Skylines; The sims 4; Genshin; Gta5; Dirt rally; minecraft
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
Max is 2000, but preferably closer to 1500
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
When my paycheck comes in a week or two.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
Tower and Monitor
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
I live in Europe and will search for the parts in local websites or amazon, but my budget is adjusted to USA prices. No microcenter.
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
Random cheap mouse and usb keyboard.
** Overclocking?
No
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
What I think I need is on my list. I am sure that i need the 3 1T ssd's And good CPU(Intel i5 was shitty for me, so I am looking for a better one. If this one is not better than intel i5, then probably i would consider i7... Rtx 3060. 32" 4k Monitor(After effects require lots of screenspace to work nicely. I don't mind running games in FHD resolution instead)
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
Good ventilation. I was looking at cases with built in fans. Don't care and don't mind LED. It will be more like a work horse than an accessory, so mismatched colors are fine if the component is cheaper that way. If not then all black.
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
No
Extra info or particulars:
I was checking my pc at work and trying to match my New build with the power, but most things confuse me.
Are rams different between each other or any 64 pair works the same?
From cpu perspective I know i5 is shit for me, i7 is good, i9 is great, but probably out of my budget. But i have no clue about the differences between two i7's. And my hope is that AmD ryzen 9 is closer to i9 in power? I have no clue, but the GHz were more than i7
Motherboards and psu are a mystery to me i chose random.
All i know about monitors is the size and resolution. Is this a shitty monitor or is it fine?

2023.06.08 08:09 totemo Fractureiser Minecraft mod virus doing the rounds. Avoid downloading or updating mods and plugins at this time.

It has recently been revealed that various malicious client mods and server plugins have been uploaded to CurseForge, Bukkit, Spigot and potentially other sites.
The capabilities of these malicious JAR files include:
Please take particular note of the fact that the virus attempts to install itself in other JAR files on your computer. You can not clear the infection just by removing the original malware JAR. At the present time, it is known that Windows and Linux systems are affected, but MacOS computers do not seem to be targeted.
As some servers, plugins, client launchers and mods may include the ability to automatically update themselves, even if you downloaded your mods months ago, you may be at risk.
Therefore, at this time, for your own safety, I recommend that you refrain from using a modded client until such time as anti-virus scanners have been updated to detect the malware and everyone is on top of the issue. I don't know when that will be, as I have only just found out.
The nerd.nu servers are not at risk. I have inspected the filesystem for signs of infection and it comes up clean. Also, for many years, it has been my policy to decompile and inspect the source code of server plugins when updating them, in anticipation of situations just like this.
Here are some links for you to read with more comprehensive information:

2023.06.08 07:44 TacoClocker Can someone make a search bar mod for DDDA, I don't have the skills.

TL;DR - I would like a search bar to be added to the game. Or at the least a sort 'alphabetically' option to be added. As mods*
With all of this news about DD2 it's made me pick up the game again and I'm sure there's a lot of new people coming to play the game too. I'm continuing my progress from last time I played instead of starting a new game and I have so many items it's insane, I have heaps of money but there's still a lot for me to do so I'm going to keep going with this save. I have no experience with modding anything other than minecraft a long time ago. I don't know anyone who can make stuff like that, and I definitely can't do it myself.
I'm asking for someone to make a mod that simply adds a nice looking search bar somewhere on the screen when I'm changing equipment at an inn, in my inventory, buying/selling stuff, maybe the enhancing menu, and maybe when learning/setting spells. I'm thinking it goes in the top right, next to the players name area on inventory, top right in inn menu and so on.ORIf it's possible, make a hotkey for it like how backspace is save changes or x is sort, chuck a key down where those keys are and maybe have the key be default assigned to shift or right shift more specifically. If that isn't viable - to have it set to shit, than it could just be assigned to the number 9 I guess. IDK though, creators choice.
The next thought I had when looking for alternatives is for someone to create a mod that simply adds an 'alphabetical' option to when you want to sort your inventory or storage, I seriously don't even know what optimized means in terms of this game, and I just scroll through all of my rings trying to find a certain one that I end up not even owning.
It might exist out there somewhere but as far as I can tell it doesn't exist on nexusmods. I honestly haven't looked at the steam workshop mods, so it might be there. If anyone could help it'd be much appreciated. Plus it might give you modders experience for if I ask again when DD2 comes out.
Thanks.

2023.06.08 06:38 WanderingThroughThe Tips or suggestions on how to win vanilla 4v4?

Note: Although we have experience, none of us are nessacarily grinding away hours on getting good. All skill is relative to one another and we have things to do outside of this, so please don’t suggest crazy trick shots.
Tldr: So there’s a 4v4 Minecraft competition me and my friends are doing but here’s the issue– the other team has more experienced players than we do. There’s no banned items other than end crystals, and we cannot go to the end and cannot use ‘stasis chambers’. Just asking for tips or suggestions as there is 100$ on the line, so it would be nice to win lol.
Version is 1.19.4
Here’s what I know
Game rules: No ‘stasis chambers’ No end crystals No hacks No redstone traps No deals between teams Or any other things that violate the spirit of said rules
Everything else is fair play
Opposing team: A
Our team: B
Team A
Player 1a
3 years of pvp experience, prefers to use swords, crossbows, and tipped arrows. Doesn’t really use shields (they forget about shields) but always brings one. Choice of food is golden carrots. Mains 1.8. pvp Player 2a 4 years of pvp experience, AMAZING at pvp but an absolute troll. Constantly changes pvp style. Half expecting him to fist fight with his entire inventory filled with totems of undying.
Player 3a
Like 2 months of pvp experience, I know she’s not skilled at pvp since I introduced her to it and played with her just a week ago. Prefers to use a bow and pots, guaranteed to bring pots of poison and harm 2 pots. Uses shields 24/7.
Player 4a
Never met her, no idea but heard from 1a that she’s good.
Team B
1B 3 years of pvp experience (started playing player vs player on hypixel with 1a, and about the same skill level, if not higher) Mainly uses a crossbow, shield, and axe. Almost never uses swords but recently has been trying to learn how to use both, so that will probably be part of his skillset soon Horrible pot aim (it’s a running joke with truth behind it) Godly crossbow aim (another running joke, definitely truth behind it)
2B 2 years of pvp experience Me! I’d say I’m somewhere between 1a and 2a in terms of relative skill level, I don’t have any combat preference, but I do like using explosives in combat. (I’m likely the reason for the end crystal ban, but they said tnt was allowed. Do with that information what you will)
3B Literally has never done pvp before as far as I know, haven’t played with them yet. For reference though, he installed Minecraft YESTERDAY.
4B Never met him. Still haven’t gotten the chance to talk, but I know he’s also new.

2023.06.08 05:43 n-shmon New to PC building: Looking for advice on current build ~1600 CAD

I want to start getting into pc gaming and in general just looking to build a good pc for school, work, and gaming. I'm a GIS student and my current laptop is no longer holding up against the programs I need to use and I'm tired of going to campus anytime I need to complete an assignment.
My budget is 1600 CAD, a little flexible if need be, after many videos, articles and looking at other peoples builds, I've come up with this. My only concern is that despite all my reading, there are still some compatibility issues and im not familiar with some terms like "bottleneck" and how to avoid it. So far all these parts are said to be compatible, but I was hoping to find some advice on the build specifically the graphics card and if I'm going overkill for just some GIS and a couple games. If there are cheaper alternatives that would work well for the average FPS game, Minecraft etc. I'm pretty much content with my choices for the cpu, otherwise if theres any advice anyone could give me that would be greatly appreciated!!

2023.06.08 03:21 dnab_saw_I Cavillagers! Cave-Men like people that live underground and in Mountains.

Cavillagers! Cave-Men like people that live underground and in Mountains.
There are a few Mods for Java edition out there that add normal underground Villages.
But wouldn't it be more exiting (And more appropriate) to have those Villagers look and behave like your classic Cave Man Character? That's exactly what I thought, so I made this post.

Imagine...
You have been wondering the wilderness for days, not a single settlement in site, you are out of raw Mutton that you got from Goats because this is a universe where Mojang makes good decisions.
In the distance, you spot what looks like a Large Chasm Jutting into the side of a Mountain , the sealings are lined with stalactites, and there are a few Bats meddling around near the Cave entrance.
You approach the Mountain and reluctantly enter Cave. As you are waltzing through the dimly lit Cavern shielding yourself from the moisture droplets oozing from the Rock above, you hear strange grumblings and irritated scoffs echoing through the chamber.
Finally, you turn the corner and cant believe your eyes1
It's an underground Village, there are large Stone Structures that reach the sealing, with wooden walkways in-between.
On the ground there are multiple Campfires with Logs surrounding them, and completed with a new type of Rug made from animal hide, it resembles those skinned bear rugs.
There is writing on the wall which uses the new Chalk Item I though about, you craft it with colored dye + gravel and it has limited uses. so it is basically a limited use transparent sign placer, and the Words wash off with water making it not as useful as signs.
The Village is also often connected to a Mineshaft dug out by the Cavillagers, I assumed they would be implemented along with an update to Mineshafts, making them a good way to find one easily.
The Village is inhabited by Cavillagers, a new sub-species of Villager like the Illagers.
I actually modeled one myself in Blockbench, here you go:

This is my first ever 3d model btw.

Nice back shot.
There are a few things that make Cavillagers different from normal Villagers.
Obviously people living in Caves aren't all that smart, so some of these will represent that:
- Cavillagers have campfires but are still uneasy around Fire, so don't hold a torch near them or else they will get frightened and run away. If they ARE set on fire they will run around in circles until they die or are put out.
- Cavillagers can be seen riding multiple animals depending on where then live, most of the time it is Horses but basically anything the Player can ride, they can to and WILL steal your animals so watch out.
- They are curious and will natural follow you from time to time.
- If you aggravate them they will pull out their Clubs and bash your brains in.
- If that happens you can pull out a Torch and keep them at bay.
- Cavillagers give quests, unlike villager trades instead of being able to purchase items infinitely, they will give a few new quests ever couple of Minecraft days in exchange for Large quantity of Items. It's like if advancements had rewards, the quests my ask you to do very specific things. The could be "get 10 of each type of Fish" or "get the heads of five Mobs and bring them to me."
- They will grant better rewards that scale with your Armor and XP level, you might get 15 Emerads for a quest if you are wearing Leather with 0 XP levels, but it could go up to 25 with Diamond or Netherite.
- That applies to Armor Trims aswell, the "Silence" trim is the rarest of them, so you would get more Items for that quest. The effect only applies when the quest is made, so if you already got a quest that gives you a reward of 20 Gunpowder, Putting on your diamond gear and a Gucci belt wont make it go up, you will have to wait for the next batch of quests.
- you can get a Club as a Reward, it's an exclusive Weapon with 4 damage points, but doubles if you get a critical hit. Might be op though.
- They make funny cave man noises.

So there it is, what do you think about this idea?

2023.06.08 03:12 ARandomTeddyDude laptop compatibility with eGPU and dual monitor setup

Hello! I'm currently using a Lenovo E15 laptop that i'm trying to hook up to a dual monitor setup and eGPU. Currently, I'm not sure how (I'm a beginner in computer battlestations). Most eGPU cases only support thunderbolt 3/4, but the E15 to my knowledge only supports usbc 3.2 (and I don't know whether it is displayport compatible or not). Does anyone have any idea how to hook my computer up to the eGPU, and then run the entire setup to the dual monitor setup? A list of parts I need to get would also be nice in terms of cable splitters or usbc converters, etc.
I'm planning on connecting the laptop to two Sceptre Nebula Whites, one a wide curved monitor and one a flat monitor as a side panel:
Curved - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09BBPQ6P1/ref=ox_sc_act_title_8?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
Flat -https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09HR8ZY22/ref=ewc_pr_img_7?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
I'm planning on using the Sonnet eGPU Box with the AMD Radeon RX 7600 8GB (I haven't bought it yet and im not sure if they're compatible, if someone could let me know if they are not compatible/better alternatives, im not a hardcore gamer so I'll be satisfied with a more budget friendly alternative if it gets me 60 fps in ow2 and maybe 100fps in minecraft)

2023.06.08 02:21 Stalar_04 Mana generation issues

Greetings. Since me and my friends have been playing on a dedicated server with some medievial-style mods istalled, we also tried Botania (we thought that this is a cool magic mod). Even though we were rapidly disappointed, I still tried to grind some mana and I even got a nice set of a Terrasteel items. However, I steel wonder whether there is a simple method of organising thing so to get mana at least not in ages or not in playing the constant run-up to Nether to gather lava every 5 mins. Could you pls suggest me something as I've never done any auto-farms or any complicated stuff in Minecraft? it would be really appreciated.
p.s. I only tried to use Endoflames (4 flowers), TNT Flower (single), lava flower (4 flowers) and a couple of others like Waterlily (not effective at all) and EXP-consuming rose (even worse). p.p.s. Maybe it was intended to work that bad (I mean the mana generation progress was really frustrating for me), but still there is not that much of a stuff to grind so hard. Maybe I was wrong though. p.p.p.s. btw Botania Guide Book broke down so I wasn't even able to look how the stuff works (luckily, we had recipes-mod installed)

2023.06.08 02:17 yellow_light_runner Mod Wikis?

Hey, everyone. New to modded Valheim and started installing mods on my dedicated server. I have worked through incompatibility issues and errors to a point where I am playing successfully. Back in the day, I had played with modded Minecraft and there were oftentimes wikis where the mods were explained in detail and information about the various items in the mods was shared as well. Something similar to Fandom.
From what I can tell, this sort of thing doesn't exist or is buried deep somewhere. Does anyone know of a site like this where people are contributing to the documentation of mods and their related contents?
Thank you.

2023.06.08 02:15 hardtruth1997 Mod packs like R.A.D 2

I recently was introduced into modded Minecraft and settled on RAD 2 as my first mod pack. I loved playing through it, but about 3/4a of the way through the quest book my computer decided to off itself and I lost all of my progression. This leaves me with the dilemma of do I start over again or start another pack. I know RAD 2 is still being perfected and it doesn’t have a full wiki going yet so I would like to potentially return to it down the line, but it the meantime something new might be nice.
Things I liked about it was the diversity of builds. You could go pure melee, magic, archery and they all felt unique and strong. The back pack system was awesome, I liked the leveling because it made progression feel meaningful, but I am not locked into leveling but a bit of a grind to achieve perfect gear is something I enjoy. All the enchantments were awesome the mix and match, especially with the Corail Tombstone mod. The apotheosis mod was one of my favorites with the names enemies that dropped unique items. There’s really not much I didn’t enjoy about it. For some reason my items sorters are not working now. Did a rule on Redstone devices change or something?

2023.06.07 23:23 Mathew_vibechecker I’m having a issue or problem trying to relive/experience a game again.

I love video games, and grow a very personal attachment to them such as the music, gameplay, sometimes lore, mechanics, etc. Basically it’s my favorite thing to do, but lately it’s being very hard to relive/experience games I have played, I’m guessing it’s due to me remembering the music, lore, mechanics, etc again which makes it hard to replay it again. This isn’t big of a deal till I start playing rouge-like games which is my favorite genre of gaming, but it’s hard to play again when you remember everything.
A good example is binding of Isaac repentance, when I started playing it was very fun and I had a great time unlocking new items and what kept me going were the achievements and the game’s story and item progression. (Spoilers) when I beat the beast and managed to unlock platinum god I just stoped playing the game and when I tried to do a run I just stoped and got very bored of playing and I could have gone for a better achievement but I couldn’t and just ghosted the game.
Same thing had happened with other games I try to play it again such as terraria, Minecraft, baba is you, hollow knight, etc and I immediately wanna stop playing. I have tried new games to play to ignore this problem but I had built up more games that I will get bored of. I think it’s due to my attention span or something else which might explain it but it’s being harder to revisit games I have enjoyed. And something I like to mention is that this doesn’t happen all of the time, yes I may get bored but sometimes I keep playing and don’t stop till I feel bored or done.
if anyone got advice than replay. or just replay with games I could play I’m open to that too. Alright peace
