2023.06.07 07:06 purplelyphilly City Council Update
Hey everyone, I'm looking to ease access to local politics in our community. I wanted to share with all of you a project I am working on to inform and connect Philly residents and communities with their local government by creating and distributing a weekly newsletter summarizing Philadelphia City Council meetings. My goal is to make important government proceedings accessible so busy people can understand what is going on in their city and how they might be affected by new policies. If anyone is interested in a quick digestible update on the Philadelphia government I have included my newsletter and the link to get
free weekly information about local issues important to life in Philadelphia. Previous suggestions have been super helpful so any and all feedback is appreciated!
If you want these newsletters sent to your email inbox, fill out this link!

2023.06.06 16:09 PotatoPlank Board Game Night at Yards Brewing (Today 6/6/2023, 7pm)
Hey,
Board game nights are back on at the Discord, you can RSVP and see the details
here. Yards Brewing is our new venue, they don't have an attendance cap so feel free to show up. I highly recommend joining there to stay up to date, sometimes cancellations happen when the venue is booked. We will not be having Board Game Night next week, but we will be back on 6/20.
Let us know if you have any questions!
Details:
500 Spring Garden St, Philadelphia, PA 19123
Board Game Night @ Yards Brewing Company
Come join us at our weekly board game night at Yards Brewing! Check out our
Discord thread for discussion relating to the event and what sort of games we're going to bring.
We encourage people to bring their own games, Yards does not have a game library but the hosts will at least bring a couple games by default.
Please RSVP as soon as possible, we no longer have a maximum attendence but board game night still has a minimum threshold before we cancel it. Seating is first come first serve, but on a Tuesday night we've been told we can seat 30 without an issue.
There is no venue fee or mandatory purchases, we just ask you keep in mind that the brewing company is allowing us to use their space without a fee and purchasing something will encourage them to keep us around. :)
Transportation:
Yards Brewing is within walking distance of several public transportation options. The El Spring Garden station is a ~7 minute walk, the BSL Spring Garden station is a ~15 minute walk, and several buses stop at Yards.
If you'd like to bring your car, street parking is available and Yards has a lot available.

2023.06.06 12:37 boutell New US CHAdeMO chargers in May 2023
Here are all of the new US CHAdeMO (Leaf fast-charging) stations that rolled out in May 2023, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.
There were 124 "new" CHAdeMOs added in May. To put it in perspective, there were 112 CHAdeMO chargers added in April. I think the pace of CHAdeMO rollout has stabilized, while the pace of CCS rollout is still increasing. This makes sense given that only Nissan still makes a CHAdeMO car.
Some of these chargepoints will be "refreshes," e.g. the provider replaced them with faster chargers etc. Some may be incorrect. This report is only as good as the Alternative Fuels Data Center data.
We all know that CHAdeMO is a legacy format and will eventually go away, but clearly Nissan and their partners are continuing to support it for the time being. This shouldn't be surprising. After all, you can still buy a new Leaf.
If you'd like to know about new chargers along your routes right away, or reading these monthly reports is just frustrating in your state, I've set up a free service that provides email notifications only when new stations actually open. You can
sign up at evpov.com. I built it to help EV owners like myself (especially my fellow Leaf owners). You can pick other plug types as well.
To streamline this post, multi-chargepoint locations are listed with the number of chargepoints first, so that's why the post is shorter than in previous months.

2023.06.06 12:32 boutell New US CCS chargers report for May 2023
Here are all of the new US CCS (Level 3 fast-charging) stations that rolled out in May 2023, according to the Department of Energy. These chargers are suitable for most new EVs on the market, except for:
- Tesla drivers who haven't bought the official CCS adapter yet. Certain older Teslas need additional work done to accept the adapter.
- Leaf owners like me, and some owners of older cars that also use CHAdeMO. If you drive a Leaf, or an older CHAdeMO car, see my matching post in leaf.
Some of these chargepoints will be "refreshes," e.g. the provider replaced them with faster chargers etc. Some may be incorrect. This report is only as good as the Alternative Fuels Data Center data.
There were 222 CCS charge points added or refreshed in May 2023, which is up from 171 in April. For comparison, there were only 74 new CCS charge points in May 2022. Things are speeding up.
"What about CCS charging at Tesla superchargers?" Tesla is in the process of rolling out their "magic dock" for non-Tesla cars, but so far in very few locations. If they start doing this at scale and reporting it to the Alternative Fuels Data Center then it will be reflected here.
"What about Ford vehicles with NACS (Tesla) plugs?" They are not on sale yet. Current-generation Ford vehicles have CCS plugs. The next generation will have NACS (Tesla) plugs, but will also support CCS via an adapter.
If you'd like to know about new chargers along your routes right away, or just prefer not to check this list monthly when new openings are rare in your area, I've set up a free service that provides email notifications as soon as they open. You can
sign up at evpov.com. Or not! I don't really have a business plan here, I built it to help EV owners like myself.
To streamline this post, multi-chargepoint locations are listed with the number of chargepoints first, so that's why the post is shorter than in previous months.

| But sex talks weren’t the only thing Professor L. Ellis Evons was selling. He was peddling oxylin antiseptic tablets for guarding against vaginal infections.22 This poisonous drug was found to contain over 50% boric acid by an FDA inspector. Gearing his products towards women, he also used these lectures to distribute contraceptives. He advertised himself as a “noted biologist and sexologist.” submitted by EfficientChoice4415 to NotHowGirlsWork [link] [comments] |

2023.05.29 21:39 blahblahlablah Am I lame ? I like to stay put at destinations.
I'm looking for broad opinion about this knowing they be diverse. I know how I feel, but '360' feedback is generally productive given the right audience.
/travel seems like a reasonably good audience. I have anxiety and it takes me a while to feel comfortable, but I keep trying. My partner is amazing. It's not about them, but I'll admit it has to do with other friends.
When I travel I like to stay put, dig in to the location, rather then take day trips out to briefly see other noteworthy sites. Lets say I travel to NYC for a week or two. I'm happy to walk around all day, find some cafe's/bars that are mellow, get to know people or at least get to observe the atmosphere, and get more comfortable. I enjoy setting up a routine, but growing the scope of the routine. Plus at the end of the day I've walked 10-15 miles and I sleep so well and work off all the delicious street food and drinks I've had.
In this example I don't really have the desire to catch a train to PA to walk around (Not saying Philadelphia doesn't have cool things to see) or Plymouth rock, or the Jersey shore. etc. Maybe the Plymouth rock thing was a stretch. But renting a car or getting on a train for a few hours each way door to door...it's just not appealing to me.
I just like to learn the community, maybe make friends at best, and at least feel comfortable and more confident checking local places out.
Is that lame? I'm I blowing nearby opportunity?
Thanks for reading.
