2023.05.31 06:38 RegentofArakko Update: 32L Packing List After 1.5 Years of Travel
| I wanted to provide a follow-up to this post on how my pack has evolved after 1.5 years of travel. I started in Oct 2021 and traveled through Mexico and Central America until Colombia, with a 3-month side quest in Europe due to a family emergency (Germany, UK, Denmark, Norway). After a short break in the US, I started up again and have been through Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico, and am currently back in Colombia. I experienced a lot of variable climates in this span and made some tweaks to my pack to jettison stuff I wasn't wearing or using. Next destinations: Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina (Patagonia), Brasil, and Venezuela. I expect to start Asia mid- or late next year. I can see myself going for another 4 years, although you never know. Travel Uniform - American Apparel tee

The seat of the trousers also stretched out way too much. I switched to the Outliers in hopes that they will hold up better. The Merrell hiking shoes are in black and now pull double duty as my "nice" pair, so now I'm down to 2 pairs of shoes + Xero sandals. I actually upgraded my Pixel 3 XL to the Pixel 6 Pro last Nov, but I broke it in Uruguay. Thanks to the Amex Plat's extended warranty protection, however, I replaced it for free and sprung for the Pixel 7 Pro (and replaced my Jabra Elite 75ts when the left earbud started having issues). https://preview.redd.it/aw1cvk9nx43b1.png?width=2268&format=png&auto=webp&s=d2734685d72b654361c6e9068fe9489fc3cebe2f Clothes - Bluffworks Bluffcube Sport, L

2023.05.31 06:35 mimi897 Losing life long friends over my dog
My best friend got married last year, I was best man. Sadly, his mom couldn't make it to the wedding, so this year they organise a smaller but super nice event to celebrate their 1 year anniversary and fly her parents over from country A (where I and thrm live) to country B (where thrm + his mom live).
They invited me too with the ask to accompany her parents. They never went abroad, let alone travelled by plane. I was happy to be for them at this event in their life and glad to help.
10 days before the event, my dog suddenly paralysed. We had to decide between surgery and euthanasia. I told them that I can't make it anymore because the dog needed special care (I chose surgery) and I'm the only one in the family who could do this, as my mom would be busy caring for my dad when their event is planned (he was supposed to have a gald bladder removal surgery soonet but his surgeon changed plans and moved the date).
I offered to take her parents to the airport, go through the gates and all that with them and literally put them on the plane. They weren't happy about it but hoped in one week things would be better and I could make it.
Fast forward to today: the dog is better but still needs special care and my dad is recovering in hospital post-op. My mom does not want to take care of the dog, she wants to focus on dad when he comes home. The clinic where the dog was operated (spine surgery for a herniated disk) will be closed (it's a bank holiday) and there are other clinics for about 2-300 euros where I could take the dog in theory.
I am doing very badly financially from a previous surgery of my own and huge costs for PT rjat I've been doing for half a year now. I will need another surgery this year and check ups and tests done.
My dog will be dead in 10 years time but they might still be friends and I value this friendship a lot, I was best friends with him for 30 years. Yet I am so much in debt and under so much pressure with my own health, I just don't think I will be OK if I leave my dog at the clinic and something happens to him. I will regret it for the rest of my life that I paid 2000 euro for a surgery and lost one week of work for all to mean nothing in the end.
So I told them sorry, I can't make it and explained why. They got super upset, said I disapppointed them, both of them. They never said her parents aren't coming without me, in this case I would have come bc they spent a fortune on this event. His wife said she will pay for assistance at the airport.
Am I crazy to not go in these circumstances and a bad friend? Am I exaggerating with the care for my dog? I thought I would need to put him down, he was half dead, and now he is finally getting better. I just want out of the shithole I'm in now in my life, not lose friends. It all seems so unfair.

New Vegas 2 Hooks
New Vegas 2!
Intro: Welcome wastelanders one and all! This is the syllabus for introducing you to the new law and land that dictates the Mojave wasteland. This will tell you a bit about what has happened in New Vegas between the time of the game (2281) and the current setting (2291). You will know more about what has happened in the 10 years since the ending of New Vegas and the factions, towns, and settlements that lie ahead. In this game, each player will build two characters starting at level 4. You may rotate characters once every three game sessions, and must do so at a time and place where this can easily be achieved (i.e. not combat).
So what has happened in the Mojave since the Second Battle of Hoover Dam?: The official “cannon” ending to New Vegas is a hybrid between the NCR and Mr. House ending. The Courier, acting as a political connections between Mr. House and the NCR, helps broker a deal between the two factions. They team up to crush the Legion once and for all, Vegas stays independent under Mr. House’s rule, and the rest of the Mojave is ceded to the NCR. The landscape in New Vegas has changed drastically, with big business, gaming and sports, and chem addiction skyrocketing. The Mojave’s desert vice city does what it does best, distract and provide entertainment. Below is a summary of changes or the current state of factions from New Vegas.
Legion: Since that fateful deal, the Second Battle was a crushing NCR victory, with the Legion retreating into Arizona. Those who stayed behind have been forced to find new lives while hiding their past. To this end, a semi-secret society known as the Bronze Bull Club was formed as a social and networking club for former Legionnaires. Like most of the Mojave, former Legion have split opinions on their new NCR rulers. Some have come to embrace their new lives, with some going as far as to completely abandon their Legion identities. One of these figures is Anthony Phoenix, New Vegas’s current reigning poker champion. Phoenix is a socialite typically well liked, who has successfully won over $5 million in various gambling and investing ventures. Other former Legion members have found success in sports, banking, trade, and business. Others, however, remain loyal to their strict and disciplined Legion lifestyle and support the Vegas Independence Movement.
Followers of the Apocalypse: Following the NCR’s victory at Hoover Dam, Mr. House permitted the NCR to have a small military presence near the Vegas Strip in Freeside. The Old Mormon Fort, home to the Followers of the Apocalypse, was forcibly seized by the NCR for use as a military base. The Followers’ eviction only served to exacerbate relations with The Kings and locals in Freeside. Though the majority of the Followers headed for New Reno or left for Wyoming with the Great Khans, some stayed behind in the new town of Summerville, located on the far outskirts of New Vegas and about 10 miles from Jacobstown.
NCR: The New California Republic, with the help of Mr. House’s Securitron army, routed the Legion from the Fort and secured Hoover Dam for Vegas and the NCR. Per the agreement brokered by the Courier, New Vegas and Freeside remain politically independent from NCR rule, with the rest of the Mojave falling under NCR control. Since then, the NCR has sent a more formidable military presence to the Mojave, and have set up a new major military hub in the town of Novac. The peripheral towns are required to pay taxes, and those that voted to officially join the NCR are allowed to elect representatives to the NCR’s Congressional body and vote in the four year presidential election. With New Vegas and much of Nevada secured, the NCR pushed further eastward into Utah and Colorado.
Freeside: Per their agreement, the NCR is forbidden from having a military presence in New Vegas proper. However, they were permitted to have one in Freeside and east New Vegas. The NCR quickly set up shop in the Old Mormon Fort after evicting the Followers of the Apocalypse, and have been a blessing and a curse to the Freeside community. The NCR’s presence has caused a sharp decline in gang and raider activity, and has provided law and order so more local business can open. Many ex-Legion have established local businesses in the area, and Crimson Caravan has also expanded it’s business, increasing employment. Freeside has undergone a rebirth with the NCR, transforming from a place of vice to a place of enterprise and culture. Music, such as jazz and lounge, have made comebacks in Freeside. Politically, however, there has been trouble. NCR soldiers stationed in Freeside are alleged to have committed crimes against the locals, which has put them at odds with The Kings. The Kings and NCR have come to minor blows over who the true rulers of law in Freeside is. Indeed, the instability is beginning to boil over, with the locals taking sides.
Goodsprings: Goodsprings has essentially remained the same as it was before the Second Battle at Hoover Dam. Tourists flock to the town to visit the cemetery where the Courier rose from the dead, and visit Trudy’s saloon. Goodsprings is under new leadership of a man named Lucius, a former Legion Centurion who serves as the town’s sheriff, and by default, it’s mayor. Things have remained peaceful under his watch. Goodsprings is one of the few towns in the Mojave to vote down joining the NCR, though they still pay taxes. There is little raider or criminal activity in this area, just the occasional merchant or radscorpion that chooses to visit.
Primm: Primm was the first Mojave town to join the NCR, and sent it’s first representative within days of the referendum. After the NCR routed the Powder Gangers, Sheriff Meyers retired as the NCR took control of the town. Known as “New Vegas’s cousin”, Primm’s casinos and businesses have made it a popular trade and tourist attraction to those who cannot afford New Vegas’s 1000 cap entry fee. Primm has been subject to attacks from the Devil Dogs, and a group of fireslinging raiders believed to be skilled at making explosives. The NCR has maintained law and order, but the seeds of the Vegas Independence Movement have found their way to Primm as well. Nevertheless, order has continued to be maintained, and the music, the money, and the chems continue to flow. Primm is now home to a sizable ghoul community, who comprise the majority of it’s musicians. The popular attraction in town is the Blue Note, where jazz, blues, and other pre-war genres are performed. The Kings tend to visit, as Elvis records are a regular request.
Nipton: After Nipton’s sacking at the hands of the Legion, the NCR crushed the Legion at both Nipton and Nelson, helping both towns rebuild and reestablish themselves. Nipton has become more populated, and is generally the “gateway” trade hub to the Long 15. Nipton, as thanks for saving them from the Legion’s oppression, also quickly voted to join the NCR. Nipton’s pro-business laws have dubbed the place where one can buy just about anything. However, Nipton’s NCR representatives have often towed the line of the California Bear coalition, which favors NCR-based businesses over local ones. With the current representative retiring, their current election has become hotly contested, with four different candidates stepping up to fight over one vacant seat.
Nelson: The former home to a Legion encampment, Nelson has had a slow rebuilding process. The NCR’s presence at Nipton allowed the town to rebuild free of raiders. However, the town, often populated by the roaming poor, is unable to pay the NCR’s hefty taxes, and therefore, receives less protection from the outside. Nelson’s citizens offer little in terms of lucrative enterprise. Many are scavengers, miners, foragers of the local area. The one attraction the town does have is the Lunar Saloon, run by the Dunbar Brothers, known for their mastery of brewing moonshine. Travesters from Appalachia, they have brought with them a local discovery from the region, Nukashine. Tourists will sometimes visit the town to indulge in the legendary drink first brewed in the mountains of West Virginia.
Searchlight: Searchlight continues to remain a lifeless, irradiated hellhole.
Novac: Novac has become one of the most built up towns in the Mojave. Strategically important to the NCR’s extended military presence in the Mojave, Novac has served as the second largest NCR military stronghold outside of Camp McCarren. The population of Novac swelled given how well defended it is from outsiders. Caravan and casinos have set up shop there, though the NCR’s heavy taxes have deterred some businesses. Novac is now a large town with a diverse population. Of the Mojave towns, Novac is the most loyal to the NCR, and to that end has three elected representatives in the NCR Congress.
Hooks:
Death of a Salesman: The beloved Courier, who survived being shot in the head, rose from the dead in Goodsprings, and brokered peace between Mr. House and the NCR, has been found dead. The Courier’s death falls under suspicious circumstances, and there is no shortage of suspects who would want him dead. To keep up appearances, both Mr. House and the NCR have launched their own private investigations into the matter. Questions over whether diplomatic ties between Mr. House and the NCR will last remain.
No Gods, No Masters: Not all citizens of New Vegas and the Mojave are happy about the deal the Courier helped forge. Since the NCR’s presence has increased throughout the Mojave, a staunch resistance by the local populace has emerged. The Vegas Independence Movement has gained full speed, and is largely centered in Freeside. Many citizens yearn for a Mojave free of rule from the NCR and Mr. House. Many smaller factions, such as the Followers of the Apocalypse and The Kings, have turned against the NCR and what the locals perceive as imperial conquest from the California government. Others also hold anti-Mr. House sentiments, feeling his laws are crushing or feeling he “sold out” the rest of the Mojave, with their NCR taxation subsidizing his non-taxed tourist haven.
Bounty Board!: Since the Legion’s defeat at the Second Battle of Hoover Dam, the NCR has expanded full control over the Mojave region and beyond. Outside of Camp McCarren, Novac has become a populated trade hub and tactical military base location for the NCR. One of the most popular features of the now built up Novac is the NCR’s famed Bounty Board, which features bounties on targets wanted dead or alive by the NCR and private bounty brokers. Most bounties pertain to former Legion officers believed to be alive and in hiding in the region, but newer targets as well. The wall also contains an assortment of paid jobs the NCR and others seek help with.
Jet Death: Chems have always been popular in the wasteland, but with the anti-drug lifestyle of the Legion no longer a menace to the region, chem dealers have come out in the open and resumed their business operations on more open and large scales than before. Of the chems out there, Jet, a highly addictive chem, has become widespread throughout the Mojave. On the brink of a public health crisis, the NCR has responded to the Jet Epidemic by sending specialized patrols to seize Jet caches and arrest any suspected dealers, sometimes resorting to lethal force. The precise origin of the Jet trade in the Mojave remains a mystery, but the NCR seeks to control this popular narcotic used by rich and poor alike.
Forces of Change: It’s election season in the Mojave! The towns and regions that voted to formally join the NCR 10 years ago after it took Hoover Dam will be voting on their representatives in NCR’s Congress. Small town politics may not seem like a sexy topic, but indeed, it is rife with tales of corruption and crime. Amongst the slime is a class of politician who seeks to reshape the NCR’s political initiatives, supporting either the pro-NCR Bear Coalition (YG) or the anti-NCR Vegas Independence Caucus (VIC). The smiling posters on the wall with the big colorful letters do not always mean what they appear, and while some hope to be a force for good, others strike fear into the hearts of their neighbors. Regions holding elections this coming cycle are: Primm (YC-Roscoe Limeheardt), Nipton (YC-Henry Parlon), Candlelight (YC - Meiriong Han), Yuletown (Sect. 1 & 2) (Sect. 1 YC - Haley Spicer; Sect. 2 - Open Contest), Novac (Sects. 1-3) (Sect. 1 YC - Larissa Meddler; Sect. 2 - Open Contest; Sect. 3 - YC - Michelle Kawabaster), Harborville (Open Contest), East New Vegas (VIC - Polly Skylark), Summerville (VIC - Archie Jubilee), Jacobstown (IND - “Rubber”), Carmine (VIC - Penny McMasters), Kimballtown (YC - Dennis Crocker), Goldfield (YC - Lt. Bradley Carder), New Reno (Sects. 1-16), Carson City (Sects. 1-7), Utah-SW, Utah-SE, Boulder (Sects. 1-2), and Colorado-NW. Non-voting delegations: Freeside and Nelson

2023.05.31 06:24 mistyeye__2088 Is this the perfect place for training
I just found out that the gate guards at Flats Lagoon is really great for training combat. They will not turn hostile to the whole squad, no relation drop. No bounty. No jail. no looting. and will simply leave you on the ground.
Purchase the 4k house, Put beds in it. Set one charactor to passive and hold. Let others attack. After they are all down let that one standby guy fist aid and rescue them all. The gate guard mostly use katanas so less amputation and lots of first aid xp. They also have short term memory loss and will be friendly again after around 8 hours. You can use beds so x8 recovery rate is good as well. When other characters are healing up. Your standby guy can go to the swamps and get some hashish for money.
Make sure you lock the door after an attack. sometimes gate guard did not lose aggro yet and will come in your house and attack charactor that regained conscious. Remember to fight under the gate to avoid turret fire. I lost a hive worker drone after he's shoot in the chest for 114 damage.
If you think you have other noticeable training spots please share in the comments below.

2023.05.31 06:14 n1ghtschade Advice for souls vets
The point of this post is to adress the numerous "souls vets" that pop up everywhere and wonder why they aren't succeeding with nioh.
Firstly:
being a souls veteran doesn't matter when it comes to nioh. Nioh is not souls. Nioh is nioh. If you come ro this series expecting dark souls, your gonna find yourself dying A LOT. Take all of your souls habits, stamp on them and bury them.
Now that is out of the way, some actual advice:
Ki pulsing is something you should learn to do ASAP. Ki is the very core of nioh's combat. If it runs out and you get hit, expect nothing but death unless you get lucky. By using the ki pulse, you can recover most of the ki spent on other actions allowing you to keep the aggression up. Do not worry however, enemys are just as susceptible to the downsides of ki as you are. Deplete theirs completely and you can grapple them for massive damage. You can also use this knowledge to stunlock yokai if you play perfectly.
Next is stances. At the beginning, I recommend experimenting with stances for your weapon and seeing what works best for you. As you progress further however, you are going to want to learn how to flux by ki pulsing on a stamce switch. Fluxing increases the ki recovered by a ki pulse amd combined with the ability to assign different skills to different stances can allow for incredibly versatile builds.
Which stances do what then?
Well high stance is slow but hard hitting, low stance is fast but deals less damage and mid stance is a balance between the two. Each stance also has skills that can only be used while in that respective stance that creates a unique playstyle for each. For example mid stance has plenty of abillitys centered around countering incoming attacks whereas high stance has many abillitys focused on big numbers. Low stance is where all the anime attacks are at. Fo your first ng cycle, you can get away with just using 1 stance but the higher you go, the more likely you will want to invest in some other stances. There is also the sheathed stance which has a select few skills designed around buffing or rapid and deadly attacks.
Guardian spirits: guardian spirits are incredibly important to nioh. They provide many passive bonuses(some completely unique) that prove useful as you progress. They also come with a unique ability to that spirit that can be used in living weapon/yokai shift or with a guardian talisman. A personal favourite of mine is blue dragon who can counter an attack and then dive bomb the enemy for massive dps burst.
Guardian spirits work differently in each game though. In nioh 1, you can use them to enter "living weapon" which adds a range extension and an elemental buff to your weapon. Your hp and ki is replaced with a guage that depletes when you perform actions or take damage. After its empty, living weapon is over. In this state, you become god. You take no damage, gain hyperarmour on everything, gain hyperspeed and your damage numbers go through the roof. One could attempt to make this seem balanced but it just isn't. Its incredibly broken and you should make use of it whenever you can. Absorbing amrita(souls) charges the spirits guage and when full, you can trigger living weapon.
In nioh 2, you get yokai shift. Instead of becoming god, you become a yokai. You have 3 states; feral, brute and phantom each with a different moveset. They each can equip soul cores obtained by defeating yokai and then use them as new abillitys by spending anima(the purple bar under your hp) that fills when you land hits on enemies or have a scampuss following you. Early recommendations include ippon datara and gozuki, they'll make the early game much more manageable. Each soul core also has a type to match the 3 yokai forms and perform better with spirits of that form. Uppon triggering yokai shift, you morph into your yokai state with a completely new moveset. Phantom focuses on long range attacks, feral focuses on rapid speed and meelee attacks whereas brute unleashes your inner bonk to bring the slam down on enemies.
Each yokai form also has a burst counter that can be used to counter attacks that glow red. Doing so stops the enemies entire combo and restores a hefty amount of anima alongside ither things. Note you need 1 anima to use a counter. You should learn to do this asap as well. Each state has a different type of counter though and not all counters work on every attack. Phantom has no windup(great for animation cancelling) and functions as a stationary block. It requires the most precise timing but functions as a complete block should you whiff the counter. Feral is a dodge that leaves behind an afterimage. If the enemy hits the afterimage, they are countered. If you miss the counter, it still functions as a dodge. The brute is the slowest of the 3 and swings a massive hammer to knock the opponent out of their attack. This is usefull as it can prevent the attack from going off before the tell is even finished unlike the other 2 and can counter bursts that don't initially start as an attack. The downside is that some bursts are just too fast for the brute. If you miss the counter, it transitions into an attack that bitch slaps the enemy.
Next, get into the habit of blocking. Unlike souls, nioh's primary defense option plays more like sekiro. Im not sure what William, wolfs and hide's swords are made out of but they can block damn near anything. You don't need to time a block perfectly(although some effects do reward it) and it will block any and all physical damage. Elemental damage is reduced to mere chip damage in most cases as well.
Why am i getting one shot?
This is a common occurrence in nioh. Get used to it. It happens a lot. Nioh rewards perfect and precise play and discourages carelessness. Observe your surroundings and play at your best. Nioh gives you the tools to completely destroy anything before it gets the chance to fight back. It also gives the enemies those same tools. Use every mechanic at your disposal. Block if you need downtime.
Onmyo and ninjutsu, the magic system of this game is split in two parts. You can unlock them through their respective skill trees. After that, ready them at a shrine and assign them to your quick slots. Do note the two clases play very different from eachother. Onmyo specialises in elemental attacks and passive buffs whereas ninjutsu prioritises cunning traps, mass debuffing and throwing a multitude of kunai/shuriken. These 2 will factor into your playstyle heavily eventually but are hard to get a grasp on at the beginning. Don't rush into them and take your time.
Loot system. This is not souls. You don't find the battered wings of a butterfly and a helmet the size of midir and decide that is how you will look the rest of the game. You dont stick with the same twig you've been swinging around either. This game has a diablo style loot system where you will be flooded with gear that have many effects you don't have a clue about. Thankfully, the game does have ingame menus to help you with this and they can prove useful. Keep swapping out your weapon for a better one. Temper your gear for the best effects to suit your needs. Ensure your gear levels aren't lagging behind. Taht is something you will have to get used to. That said, it also makes the build variety absurd in these games.
Weight. Do not go above 70%. 30 - 70% is fine. 29.9% or below is sanic mode. Keep in mind though that this will directly affect your defenses. The lighter gear you use, the less toughness you have and as such your defense are weaker. Your agility raises gowever and your evasive abillitys get faster. Go above 70% however and your ki recovery starts getting taxed. You don't want that.
Next is debuffs.
For a start, any elemental attack builds up its respective debuff, in addition, there are effects that can be applied to both yours and your enemies geamoveset to add further debuffs. Familiarise yourself with them. Believe me, when you know what half of these do, you will find yourself having certain attacks on the "avoid at all costs" list. The final boss from nioh 2's secobd dlc is an exampme of this. If you need to urgently adress a debuff, use a daion jin sake.
Wind inflicts blustered. This reduces your damage deatlt by 50%(i believe, not too sure on the exact figure)
Earth inflicts muddied. This doubles ki damage taken.
Lightning inflicts electrified. There is a talisman called sloth that is widely considered broken on earlier ng cycles as it slows the speed of anything hit to that of a sloth. Thats for all actions by the way, not just moving. Getting electrified is like getting hit with sloth. Also, it stacks with sloth.
Fire inflicts scorched. This is just a burn effect. You can dash frantically or douse yourself in water to dissipate tye fire.
Water inflicts saturated. This increase damage taken by 20%.
Confused. A very important debuff for any build aiming for high numbers. It is triggered when a target is inflicted with 2 debuffs simultaneously. Confused yokai stagger when you hit them without fail and humans lose most of their speed and ki recovery. All confused enemies take massively increased damage. Keep in mind you can also be confused so don't ever let that happen.
Poison poisons you. What else to say. Lasts longer and deals more damage than fire.
Stench. Consuming anything stuns the inflicted for 3 second. Healing effects are reduced. Can be washed away in water.
Paralysis stuns the target for a sizeable ammount of time. Hitting the target breaks paralysis. You can also grapple paralysed enemies.
Purified(nioh 2 only): can no longer apply buffs, take 50% more ki damage and lose corruption.
Corrupted(nioh 2 only): lose puritu. Take 35% increased ki damage. Yokia inflicted lose maximum ki. Attacker restores ki on hit.
Berserk: deal 50% more damage but doubles ki usage.
Blinded: all projectiles fo in random directions. Enemies blinded no longer track you.
Sloth: give up hope. Just accept your fate.
I hope you have decided what to avoid like the plague.
Next is yokai/dark realm.
Yokai occasionally emit puddles called the yokai realm. This dramatically slows your ki recovery inside. Performing a ki pulse will purify the realm destroying it in the process. A dark realm(nioh 2 only) is a massive yokai realm that can not be purified normally. Instead, you need to kill the yokai creating it to get rid of the realm for good. In bossfights, they frequently call in a dark realm which usually signifies a new phase. They'll exit this once you break their ki or just wait it out.
Anyway, that all i can think of off the top of my headm hope this helps and if you need any nore advice, please ask.

Hello and welcome to Reluctant UHC Season 6 - Catalyzation! Welcome to Reluctant UHC Season 6! For those who don't know, Reluctant is an ultrahardcore Recorded Round created by Organized by BlueSparkss, and each season we give players an incentive to not do something, and in this season, we were Reluctant to Catalyze. To represent this, we used Rigged Teams of 3, along with the scenarios listed below.
Gamemodes:
- [Catalyzation]
- When you mine diamonds/gold you will not receive them immediately, there are two ways to receive your valuable ores.
- There will be a 20 minute timer that goes off at the start of every episode, that will give you all of your ores smelted.
Alternatively…
- There will be monuments at each 500 coordinate that will give you your diamonds & gold unsmelted. It will be broadcasted when a player uses a monument. (will not reveal who)
- A team can only use each monument once between eps 1-4, & once between episodes 4-6. The daylight cycle will also move forward 5 minutes.

2023.05.31 06:05 DumpGoingTo Pokémon : Gray Ideologies
(This is just something I decided to do. I'm probably not going to finish the story, because I lose motivation quickly. But hey, if I complete it then I officially consider myself the GOAT. This story takes place in an alternate universe, the main character is named Connie. More of his character will be revealed later, but these characters aren't 10 let's start off with that. Barry is around the age of 13-14, Connie is 13 and Dawn is probably 13 as well. There will be some inspiration from both the Manga and the Anime. Without further to do, enjoy the read and possible more reads to come.)
1st Episode : Pilot
It was pitch black, completely.. Kind of peaceful to be honest. Nothing to do, at all and nothing to think about.. Guess it is true. The statement, I mean. That sleep is the cousin of death talk. Kind of depressing now that I'm thinking about it, but hey. I'm not dead, and I don't plan on dying not for a long time. Besides, I still have to find somebody. And I have to find 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 as well..
Light! Bam, right in the face of our Trainer! It was always there, but it was never there for him, well.. Because his eyes were closed before now. His gray eyes stared into the ceiling of his room before he'd begin to lift his head from the softness of his pillow. "𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮.. 𝘐 𝘴𝘢𝘸 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨.. 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵. 𝘸𝘢𝘴. 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵?-" His mental monologue would suddenly be cut by a personally familiar voice! "Conn!! It's time to wake up!?" Shouted a feminine voice from the bottom of the stairs that led to his room. The Boy who was sitting on his bed would begin to direct his head towards the stairs that led up to his room. "Yeah! Mom.. I'm up...." He responded, sluggishly before he started to lift his lethargic body from the sheets of his bed, soon after he'd pressed his feet against the floor and arched his back in a relieving stretch. "𝘏𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘭𝘺.. 𝘐'𝘮 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘐 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯'𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘶𝘱 𝘵𝘰 𝘉𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘺'𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘳𝘤𝘶𝘵" He thought to himself whilst he'd begin to walk towards his closet which he soon after opened. There, he could see himself within his mirror, umber colored bed-head hair, a skinny body that wore an oversized black and white raglan shirt, as well as light gray sweatpants. "𝘐 𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘐 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥'𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮.. 𝘥𝘢𝘮𝘯𝘪𝘵, 𝘐'𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘗𝘰𝘬𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘯 𝘚𝘶𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘔𝘰𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘮𝘦. 𝘏𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘻𝘺 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵.. 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘪𝘵 𝘪𝘴" He thought to himself whilst he'd extend his arm out to reach inside his closet..
He could be seen making his way down the steps that led the way downstairs.. obviously. He'd take one last step down before he looked from side to side.. "𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘦𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵" He muttered to himself, he directed his gaze towards a clock which let it be known to him that it was actually quite late. 6:47 PM, it was evening.. "𝘖𝘩 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘩, 𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘦𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵" He'd mumble to himself all up before! "𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗡𝗜𝗘!!" a shout could be heard within his ear! After a strong striking of an awkward pose, The usually nonchalant boy so called Connie would quickly karate chop the culprit right now the middle of their head! "What the hell was that!? Why are you so obnoxious!" Connie responded with aggression as the blonde headed boy would respond by grasping at their head. "I withstood a whole day's worth of waiting for you and this is what I get in return?!" The boy replied. "Why'd you have to sneak up on me?!" Asked Connie, he'd place his hands on his waist while he awaited an explanation for his discomfort. "You were knocked out all day! I've been trying to find a way to wake you up all day!.. I have a super duper idea!" "What is it Barry?" "I watched a commercial! And I have an idea, but C'mon you have to come with me! Last to the grass owes some cash!!" The blonde boy, Barry would be seen rushing out of the house, straight out of the door.. "𝘈𝘴 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘯𝘦-𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘴 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳.." Connie thought to himself whilst he'd take a quick look around. Soon after he stepped towards his couch and gripped one of his backpacks straps. Connie stood up straight and began to walk towards the front door that he'd watched his friend step through.
[ 𝚃𝚆𝙸𝙽𝙻𝙴𝙰𝙵 𝚃𝙾𝚆𝙽. ]
Connie would begin to make his way towards the exit of the town before he got stopped by one of the other locals.. "Hey, Connie!.. Barry's been looking for you all day. Seems like he's finally gotten a hold of you?" "Sadly.. I just woke up, to wake up with nonsense isn't exactly the best way to wake up" Connie responded while raising one hand to his eye to rub the crust from it. "You two are serious about going to Sandgem all by yourselves?" The Local teenager asked to which Connie's face looked as if he'd been to a farm for manure.. "What do you mean? We-.. Sandgem Town?" "Yeah, Barry wouldn't stop talking about it" ".. I gotta go! He knows we aren't supposed to go into the grass, we don't have any Pokémon!" Connie would begin to speed away, the boy that he was conversing with.. "Alright.. Guess I'll.. see ya round, then.." The Boy said whilst he watched Connie run away from him..
[ 𝚁𝙾𝚄𝚃𝙴 201. ]
Like a bull, charging towards it pre! Connie could be seen, his feet stomped against their ground with each step. Through the path, Connie continued his sprint all up until he could see Barry. "Barry, don't!" The usually lethargic boy shouted out to his counterpart. Barry stood in front of the tall grass, his foot practically an inch from the danger zone. The blonde turned his head towards Connie before he'd sigh and cross his arms. "You're slow! I waited twenty hours for you!" Barry said with exaggeration as he somewhat glared at Connie. "You left my house five minutes ago.." The Umber Haired boy responded between pants, his hands on his knees. "C'mon! We're going to Sandgem! I have the perfect idea!!" Barry shouted, he quickly reached out and wrapped his arm around Connie's neck. "Ow- Hey!.. What the hell do you mean? We can't do that with the grass here. Pokémon will attack us, ya' doofus.." Connie would reply in the midst of breaking free of Barry's grasp. "What do you have in mind?" It definitely seemed like Connie felt he was the only one using his common sense right now, and honestly that very well could've been the case. "We just have to sprint! Run through the grass as quickly as possible and Pokémon won't get a chance to attack us!" "That's completely stupid.." With speed, Connie had turned down the suggestion.. "Let's do it" Or not! Barry would gently punch Connie's shoulder in excitement, his eyes shut and a large toothy smile on his face. "Last one to Sandgem has to pay two million!" Barry announced to Connie whilst he'd begin to take a few steps back from the patch of grass that surely had to withhold plenty of Pokémon. "Two million butt kickings in battles, sure" Connie responded, he would begin to take a few steps towards Barry. The Blonde always seemed to bring the best out of him, the excitement to his world. That showed in their competitiveness with each other. "READY! SET!" Barry counted down.. "GO!-"
" 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗣❕❕❕"
His foot almost in the grass, Barry stood on the tip of one foot and would begin to fall backwards, all up until Connie caught him, luckily.. Connie reached out and caught Barry, however he didn't have momentum on his side, his shoe slipped on the ground and he, as well as Barry, crashed onto the ground.. "Ow...." Is all that came from Barry's mouth. "What in the world were you two thinking!" A male with a slight old and raspy voice could be heard, scolding the boys for their ignorance. Barry would begin to raise his head off of Connie's stomach, he groaned, before he'd place one hand on the back of his head. "What are you made of? Steel?" The Blonde commented on Connie who would similarly raise his upper body off the ground. "I have no questions. I've always known you had a hard head.." The Umber Haired boy responded, before a slight chuckle could be heard.. The two boys would turn their heads towards the culprit. "Huh, what's so-.." Barry cut himself off, Connie's eyes would go a bit wide.. White hair, likely from old age, a bushy mustache, serious eyes, and a big body.. It was, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿.𝗥𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗻..
"Pokémon!!" Barry shouted, he raised his body off of the ground with immense speeds, pushing off of Connie who would crash onto the ground once again. "Um.. What did you say, Young Man?" The Professor asked, before Connie smacked the back of Barry's head after he'd finally gotten off the ground. "Ow!" "Don't mind him, Professor Rowan. He's just a little airheaded" The Boy attempted to prevent Barry from being. Well, Barry. "That is not what I'm concerned about. You two.. were going to go into the grass. Weren't you?" His voice was stern in emotion. The Professor wasn't happy at all. Despite the fact, he loved to see Trainers love Pokémon, he couldn't help but wonder why they would even attempt to go in the grass without the assistance of a Pokémon with them. Connie and Barry, both looked rather puzzled on what to say. They didn't want to say the wrong thing and end up with a ban from getting Pokémon, if that were possible. "Well.. um" Connie struggled to come up with an explanation. "We wanted to get to Sandgem Town! So, we could get a pokémon!" Barry would answer the question with brute honesty, he didn't exactly know what else to say other than that. "You'd go as far as doing something so incredibly reckless?" The Professor asked to which Barry nodded his head with intensity! "Uh.. Let's see...." Professor Rowan would raise one hand to his muscles which he'd rub his fingers in while he contemplated what exactly to do. "Do you two love Pokémon?" The Professor asked to which Barry stomped his foot down. "Yeah! I do! And I'm sure Connie does too!" "Yeah, I love Pokémon as much as my idiot friend here!" Connie would add onto Barry's words to convince Professor Rowan. "I will ask you once again.. Do you love Pokémon?" The Boys heard the Professor, however this time they seemed to get quite impatient. They took a step forward in unison. "YES!" They would respond with conviction, to which Professor Rowan would sigh and place one of his hands on his forehead. "Well, then I guess I'll give you some Pokémo-" Professor Rowan got cut off by a shout. "Professor Rowan! You forgot this!" A Female voice would call out to the Academic who started to turn his head toward the womanly voice, and he saw his star assistant Dawn Berlitz! "Aw! Yes! Perfect timing Dawn, I was just about to give these two boys some Pokémon" Professor Rowan responded to his Assistant who blinked her eyes and fixed her regard to the two boys in front of her. "Oh? Who are they?" The Female asked, she seemed to be rather intrigued with them. "I'm Barry! I'm gonna be the Greatest Trainer of All Time!" Barry answered Dawn, he seemed like he was the happy type. Didn't seem too smart, but hey did he really need to be the smartest in the world to be a great trainer? "And you..?" Dawn pointed towards Connie. "I'm Connie, Connie Grey-" "CONNIE WHO!?" After a slight leap into the air Connie blinked his eyes, surprised with the way he got interrupted by the Professor. "Connie Gray.." The Boy would add, Barry looked at him with confused eyes and Dawn, with looks of high level admiration. "Boy.. I knew it'd happen soon. But today, never crossed my mind" Professor Rowan muttered as he'd pressed one hand against his forehead. "You've sure gotten big. Your Father would've been proud" "My Father?" Connie questioned in conjunction with taking a step toward The Educator. "Yes, he's a great trainer. Practically knew everybody, and those who were skilled trainers knew him as well." Rowan explained all up until he would look toward Barry and then back to Connie. "You two are definitely a Famous Group of Boys aren't you?" He commented before he would nod his head at Dawn, a signal for her to open the briefcase for the Male version of 'Clyde and Clyde'.
Taking the order, Dawn pressed her pointer and middle finger against the lock and soon after she raised the top of the case to give the boys a clear view of what was inside..
A green blanket, that sat in a fertile position, keeping the half and half spheres safe and warm. Three pokeballs placed separately in position to be tended to. "Turtwig.. Chimchar.. and Piplup. These are the Pokémon that you have to choose from" Professor Rowan said, he reached into the briefcase and held one of the Pokeballs. "Pick wisely you two.."

2023.05.31 06:04 Captain_Lime All's Fair
Odelli had been looking forward to the return to this village for some time, for it was the village of Ra-Kotod. And moreover, it was the village that Ledi lived in.
Odelli had known Ledi for years, and he was head-over-heels smitten with her. They were but children when they first met and they first played together in the festival, Odelli had feelings for her. Their friendship had actually been that which brought their parents – his were skilled fishermen, hers were a sugarcane farmer and a palmwood carver, all of some repute in the Skillful Morekah tribe – into an amicable trading relationship, a fact that Odelli planned to take advantage of. As Odelli and Ledi grew, so too did the partnership of Sassayo and Mila and Makbed and Deyadema, and their fortunes doubled and doubled again! But now, Odelli had turned sixteen and Ledi had done so three moons prior.
It was surely young to enter in a marriage pact, but not terribly so. These things could take time, but if they didn’t then more’s the better. And another point in his advantage: both him and Ledi were firstborns, so they would be holding the hand of the deal at every step until final dinner.
Odelli rowed his bamboo boat from the flotilla to shore, past the great cypress trees and moss-covered mangroves, reeds sprouting hither and thither and all around. He finally came to a shoreline and tied his boat to the familiar old swamp maple, and walked the rest of the way to the village. The swamps of Sarootnoh weren’t the nicest, but there at last was bamboo-stilt village of Ra-Kotod. And there was Ledi. And… Another?
Odelli stopped walking. It was poor form to interrupt a potential deal, and it appeared that Ledi was in the throes of putting one together. Her father Makbed was still in their house on the fringes – evidenced by the glow of the hearth within. Her mother Deyadema was still out in those choice fields of sugarcane. But Ledi was in some discussion with the individual. Odelli’s ears burned.
At last, the other man departed and Ledi looked over. Odelli could see her smile from here, and beckoned him to come closer. He came, promptly.
“Oddi!” Ledi almost exclaimed. It’s what she’d called him since they were kids.
“Ledi, it’s good to see you. Who was that other one who was here?”
“Oh, him?” She seemed to slump a bit. “That was Yato. He’s of Skillful Dolphin, and the son of Chief Kassyo. He came to begin marriage pact negotiations.”
“With you?” Odelli was shocked.
“…yeah,” said Ledi.
“That… will you go through with it?”
“My father… we’ve heard rumors about this at the last Monsoon festival." Ledi's family heard rumors about everything, Odelli was always astonished at how much they knew before his family even came to visit. "Yato is twenty-three seasons old, and Kassyo was interested in getting him a bride. And my father… a relationship with a chief would be good for him, even from a lower clan like Dolphin,” said Ledi.
Odelli was silent for a second, mouth opened. “Oddi?” asked Ledi.
“Well…” said Odelli, regaining himself, “what about reinforcing a relationship with a prominent fisherman of Sunfish clan?”
“A fisherman of Sunfish clan? Like Sassayo and Mila?”
“Yes, like Sassayo and Mila.”
A smile crept to Ledi’s face. Odelli was almost amazed that she hadn’t thought of the idea first! “It’d be good for my parents…” she said.
“…and even better if two skillful negotiators helped the deal along,” he continued.
“I think I’ll have to tell my father about this offer and discuss it with him,” she was positively beaming now, “why don’t you bring your houseboat in, and we have the evening meal like friends.”
Odelli had originally came to ask that they could, “Agreed! We’ll be here before sundown. See you soon, Ledi.”
“See you soon, Oddi,” she said with a giggle. They walked off – Ledi to tell her parents of these deals, and Oddi to tell his parents of this arrangement.
-=-=-=-
That had been a season and three moons prior. The negotiations had come to a standstill.
That first dinner had gone so well, and Makbed had been charmed by the entreaties that had been made there. They had a chopped seafood and pepper mix, upon maize flatbreads. A last minute arrangement by Odelli and Ledi, but one that the four parents enjoyed. But then it got bogged down, as it so often did, in the details.
Makbed had thought that binding themselves to Odelli’s parents was a good idea, but Deyadema had urged caution. Ledi told him of the after-dinner private talks that she overheard (and really should not have, by all customs). Deyadema urged caution, especially since Kassyo had expressed interest. They had the sugar-wealth, carving skill, rumor network, and clout that Kassyo needed for the raids he loved so much. And Kassyo was a chief - an energetic, albeit small-time one - that they could rely on with a marriage pact. Deyadema said they valued their working relationship with Odelli's parents, but Ledi had younger brothers and Odelli had younger sisters and brothers. If a chief wanted a prize, then why give it to a fisherman?
The talks had effectively become a dowry bidding war since then, playing out every time they visited Ra-Kotod over moons and moons. At the very least, Ledi’s parents had remained noncommittal. The worst part was that Odelli couldn’t necessarily contest Mila’s logic.
“Oddo,” cried Yato from the other boat, “hey, Oddo!”
Well, maybe not the worst part.
“Yato. What is it?” Odelli said.
Skillful Sunfish had made their last pass at Ra-Kotod about a month previous, where Skillful Dolphin had been waiting for them. Chief Kassyo had proposed to Chief Arrdanayo of Sunfish that they go north. They’d have just enough time to make it all the way to the Aluda to the far north, do the exchanges of gifts and perhaps raid a village or two of everything they had. It was slow going, and unfortunately they had to make many stops at the villages on the way up the coast. And at every stop, Odelli had to interact with Yato. And at the times between. Like now, where some two dozen youths of both clans had decided to do some fishing.
“Oddo! Oddo oddo oddo! Did you get anything?! Any fish biting?! Tell us, Oddo!” Yato said with an awful grin. For someone years Odelli’s senior, he was a constant pest who treated everything like a joke. And he was constantly around Odelli.
“No, Yato. Nothing biting,” said Odelli. They’d been fishing with most of the youth of both clans for hours. Yato’s yammering was scaring away the fish, and many of the Sunfish boys and girls were chumming along with him! That made Odelli boil.
“What was that?! You must speak up, Oddo!”
“Nothing’s biting!”
“Gah, bad day for it,” said Yato, “everyone knows you need to fish at dawn or dusk, or on days when the clouds darken the sky!” Murmurs of agreement from both groups of youths.
“Right you are,” said Tital, the firstborn of Arrdanayo, “Aicul beats down on us. Had we no capes, our shoulders would blister.” She was drenched in sweat as well.
“I propose we have some sport!” cried another behatted youth.
“An excellent suggestion! A round of Taklah-Mat, then? To the flotilla!” cried Yato, already picking up an oar. Odelli sighed. He would be dragged into this… though perhaps that wasn’t such a bad thing. Visions of beating Yato over the head with an oar were circulating through his head. He picked up a paddle, and they made for the flotilla.
As Yato and Tital explained to their parents that nothing was biting anyways, a few others found the healer and the hanyil. Both absolutely essential parts of the game, of course: One to tend to wounds, another to make you forget them. They found a good bit of coast and gathered up the six boats and two baskets they’d need, finally found the buoy and net in the lower deck of Ranyo’s houseboat, and set out to get going with the game.
Taklah-Mat was played with two teams with three boats each (in this case). Odelli had played this version before – three people per bamboo boat, one punter and two divers. The objective was to knock a wooden buoy into an enemy basket with an oar. The buoy could not be picked up in this version (though Odelli had also played a version where you could only while you were in the water). They picked teams – not quite split per clan, there were more in Sunfish than Dolphin, but it was near enough – and picked boats. Odelli ended up a diver, while Yato ended up a punter. Perfect. After each party had had a cupful of hanyil, and their senses had been sufficiently clouded, they were off! And Odelli leapt into the water with his counterpart. While the objective was to knock the buoy into a basket, it surely helped to knock all of another team’s men off a boat, and claim it for yourself! And Odelli had his eye on Yato.
The game was a chaotic mix of frenzied swimming and comparatively slow boats. Boaters were practically shovelling water, trying to move their ships fast to better support the swifter swimmers. The swifter swimmers trying to knock the ball up on a ship for an easier shot at the goal. All the while, swimmers trying to overthrow boaters and steal their ships, to gain the advantage outright. There was the pressure to avoid playing too rough, so as to spoil the game with an ill-timed drowning, but not too soft or else the game was spoilt already.
Eventually, Odelli saw the ball in Yato's possession, but with no defenders on his boat. His opening. Odelli’s fellow diver followed his lead, both swimming under the field of play with their bats. They could see sea-life underneath them, just fishes and sand, maybe three man-heights down. Odelli’s diver got caught up in an undersea wrestling match with the other team, but Odelli had his eye on the prize: Yato’s boat. He gave the boat an initial rock from underneath, to knock Yato off his balance. Then, he tried to board!
Crack! Pain shot through Odelli’s shoulder. He was back underwater, barely able to comprehend what just happened. He moved his arm, and pain continued to throb in it. Yato had hit him. Yato had hit him!
Fury and energy coursed through Odelli’s veins, and he surged out of the water. He could barely see as Yato’s eyes grew wide, and Odelli slammed his club into Yato’s gut. He doubled over, but Odelli beat down on him again. And again, and again. Yato grabbed him, and they both went into the water, now both wrestling as well. Odelli’s club beat Yato many more times, and Yato’s club slammed against his shoulder again. Finally, both were fished out, and laid out across Yato’s boat. Tital looked down at them, as did the healer.
“Nobody’s even scored a goal yet, and already you’ve both lost control of yourselves,” said Tital, “what are you thinking? You both want to drown?”
Yato spat seawater at Odelli, “What’s your problem, Oddo?”
“I-aghhh…” Odelli said, trying to sit up but wincing. His shoulder throbbed harder than before.
The healer sat Odelli up, and looked at his arm, “Too much roughhousing,” said the healer, “He needs to go back to the clans.”
“Well, that’s the day spoiled,” said Tital, “Did you have to beat him so hard, Yato?”
“I’m sorry, I thought we were playing Taklah-Mat. Not just splashing around in the water,” said Yato, spitting again. Tital’s eyes narrowed. “Besides,” said Yato as he stood up, “did you not see how Odelli was pounding on me?!”
“He’s maybe half your size, Yato. He needs to pound on you to do anything! Look, between the two of you, you’re the one who can stand!” said Tital.
“And you’re defending him? Unbelievable,” said Yato. Yato then reached down, and grabbed Odelli by the shoulder, searing with pain.
“I’ve tried to be nice! I’ve tried! Everyone has seen how Yato has tried!” He gesticulated around, to some nods, “But that was the last straw. I was trying to be reasonable, I know how you’ve known Ledi your whole life, but that ends now. I know this is about her.” How did he know that? “I do not want you to have anything to do with me, or Ledi, or anyone I care about.”
“That’s too far, Yato,” said Tital, “I won’t have any part of this. You can't tell him to let go of a lifelong friend, no matter who you are.” Odelli’s vision was swimming, and Yato dropped him. Odelli fell in the water, and the healer dove in after him. By the time Odelli was hauled back up on the ship, most of the Dolphin youths had left. Tital was still there.
“You really have made an ass of yourself, Odelli,” said Tital.
“I’m… sorry,” said Odelli.
“It’s fine. Day’s over anyways. I’ll have to explain this all to the chief… once I understand it all myself.”
-=-=-=-
The relations between the clans had only managed to deteriorate after the incident; Chief Arrdanayo was in awe of how quickly things fell apart. One of his more esteemed fisher families had now gotten in a very public spat with Chief Kassyo and his firstborn. He consulted with his daughter over it: the child Odelli had acted insensibly, true, and there was some damn foolish tangle of marriage pacts and romance going on. He’d always liked the boy, and it was true that between Odelli and Yato, one of them had certainly been worse off. It didn’t matter now, though. The damage had been done. Lines had been drawn in the sand, and what was once a joint trading (and raiding) expedition was now turning back fragmented, in disgrace.
No Aluda riches for Arrdanayo! And to think that Kassyo had been so keen on meeting Sassayo and Mila just weeks previous. He'd been courting prominent families of the skillful Morekah for years.
Why couldn’t these things be easy? Arrdanayo mused while at the tiller. In his day, you arranged a marriage if you liked another family and wanted to tie yourself to them. None of this political worry, nor any of the following mess!
Kassyo had been enraged, and was demanding recompense and apologies. He'd always been a hothead, but it was remarkable how quickly his feelings had soured on Sassayo and Mila and their children. Odelli was apologetic, at the very least. He displayed none of the arrogance that Arrdanayo had in his youth (or Kassyo had even now), but then again he had already been chastised. As chief, it was normally his duty to mediate disputes. But who mediates a dispute between someone and another chief? The only way out was a duel.
Or a clan war.
Arrdanayo sighed. A duel between Odelli and Yato would end just about the way that their previous fight had ended. He had liked the boy, though.
“Tital! Come over here, girl,” said Arrdanayo, down the length of their ship. Tital looked over, finished what she was doing, and came over to the tiller.
“Yes, father?” She asked.
“We’ll need to set up a duel between Odelli and Yato. That’s the least bloody way to resolve this,” said Arrdanayo.
“So that's the end of Odelli,” she sighed.
“Not if you train him to duel, so that he doesn’t immediately die.”
“I see. Very wise, chief. I will get started next time we get to shore.
-=-=-=-
At last, the day of the duel arrive. Odelli had trained with Tital every chance that he could, and only just begun to grasp the essentials – the proper way to fight with a spear, the importance of maneuverability (as Odelli had no hope to match Yato’s strength), the need to wait for an opportune strike, but the need to act quickly because Yato could end his life in a moment! This fight would be to the death, as all Sasnak duels were, and there was no honor or mercy or witnesses to be had. Two people, two spears, and one who leaves. No other way out. That was what Tital trained Odelli. In the two moons that it took for Sunfish to align with Dolphin again, she had become like an older sister to him.
At last both clans were in Ra-Kotod. There had been about a week where both families tried to make entreaties to settle the matter, but it had only ever seemed to get worse off. One day, Odelli's own mother begged him not to duel, then met with Kassyo's wife. When Odelli's mother returned, she simply told him to "make sure he drowned the bastard in his own blood." Kassyo had actually given Sassayo a black eye, and the village was teeming with rumors that the next duel would be between the two of them. Arrdanayo put a quick stop to that.
Chief Arrdanayo had a difficult week.
But it was almost over.
There he stood, with a spear in each hand, looking at both Yato and Odelli. Neither of their families were permitted to be there. Odelli hadn't even seen Ledi that day, to tell her goodbye. He knew that he was probably going to die.
"Unless either of you two intend to back off at the last minute, then we better get this over with. Before it can get any worse," said Chief Arrdanayo. No response.
"Very well," said the chief, "We stand here before Sodatrat and Atook and all of the gods, a spear in each hand. The blood between Yato, firstborn of Inyal and Kassyo, and Odelli, firstborn of Sassayo and Mila, has grown too sour to bear any longer. Now only one may walk this land. The other must, for some reason," he muttered, "be taken to Itiah for all time. Let these spears be yours. Do not return until the matter will trouble the world no further."
Both the youths took up a spear. They walked out into the mangrove forest. It was a surreal experience for Odelli, walking wordlessly side by side with Yato. They both held in their hand a weapon meant only to end the other. They were both walking and walking until the other made the first move. Odelli suddenly realized that Yato had never done this before either.
Odelli finally stopped. This ground would be a good enough place to die. Yato took a few more steps, and then turned. They locked eyes with each other. Now for the ritual that Tital drilled into Odelli's head.
Yato took a step back. Then Odelli did. Yato took another, and so did Odelli. They did this twelve times, and then they stood still. The only thing Odelli could hear were the sounds of the forest and his own breathing.
Suddenly, with a roar, Yato charged. They were but seconds apart. Odelli broke into a mad dash too.
And suddenly Yato was not in front of him anymore.
Odelli's world flipped upside down, as he tripped on something. When he finally hit the ground, he spun around, finding out that that thing was Yato. He was sprawled out, writhing on the ground. He had tripped on a root he hadn't seen. His spear had been flung far from his grasp. His spear!
Odelli whipped around. His spear had been flung far from his grasp. He scrabbled to gain a purchase as Yato did as well. Odelli grabbed his spear. Yato did too.
But Yato had a spear through his chest before he could put one through Odelli's.
Odelli was panting from the mad scramble of activity. He watched the shock in Yato's eyes, the anger and the panic and the horror as his soul drained from him. His chest was spewing blood. He was going limp. He was limp.
He was dead.
Odelli waited a bit. As if Yato were to suddenly reanimate and lunge at him and kill him. It's what should have happened. It's what was going to happen. But fate got in the way.
When Odelli finally began the walk back, what felt like hours later, all he could think about were Yato's dying eyes. He'd be thinking about those eyes for years to come.
-=-=-
Ledi looked at the hull of the ship under construction, two weeks following the monsoon festival. She was still amazed by the events that brought her to now.
It started years and years and years ago, on the day that Yato had come with a marriage proposal. And that same day, Odelli, little Oddi!, had come for the exact thing. Of course, she knew both proposals were coming, in addition to the ones from Rama, Makdu, and Djuli. All would have made excellent matches, and would have increased her quality of life dramatically. She was fortunate that Atook had blessed her family with such bountiful sugar fields. That, and that she'd managed to cultivate such wits and such beauty. It had been pretty trivial to set the suitors to collide like that. Like boats, when two hit each other, the one with the strongest spine wins… unless the gods have anything to say about it. Ledi just needed to put Yato and Odelli on the same course and see what happened: either suitor would have had their benefits and an advance in Ledi's position.
Ledi would have preferred if he never got involved. Rama, Makdu, Yato, and Djuli all had their fixable flaws, and Ledi was more than happy to let one come out on top and gain the benefits of the rest. They would enter a bidding war for the best pact for her parents, and eventually she would be treated like a Morekah. But then Odelli put himself on the very same course (something Ledi had known he would try for years, and gingerly tried to dissuade him to no effect), and Ledi had tried to put Yato and Odelli together to let them work it out. That was her plan, but when they came back, one was destined to die. She never expected that, nor that Odelli would come out on top.
You cannot command the wind, she thought, but you can adjust your sails.
Oddi was the favored child of Itiah after that, winning at every turn, and the other suitors could barely compare. A boy entered a duel and emerged a man, though his first encounter with death had changed him. Kassyo was enraged after Yato died, and began a clan war in response for the perceived bias of Arrdanayo training Oddi. Arrdanayo and Tital's eldest brothers perished in the war, but she made sure to repay the favor by braining Kassyo with a spearthrower. In a twist of luck, Oddi emerged a hero of that clan war, the Skillful Dolphin was dismantled and absorbed by Sunfish, and after the end Oddi married Ledi as a renowned warrior. He had none of the boyish humor or romance he had once had. He was serious now, but still gentle. And Ledi lived like an astronomer.
Now, their first child was on the way, and that meant they would have a houseboat of their own. They would need to take servants to man the ship, but that was what servants were for. Oddi was out speaking with the Mareh and with Tital for that very reason, probably arranging to go to Meak-Chi to either trade for Keshurot servants (or take them by force) after the monsoon season was over. Meanwhile, Ledi was supervising the design of their houseboat - Itikalleneh, Favorite-of-the-Gods.
Ledi looked at it's frame - upright, in the new fashion, second only in size to Chief Tital's houseboat itself. Her father was an expert and renowned palmwood carver, and they were working with a shipwright in the Skillful Morekah who had a grand vision he had learned from traders from Sarootnoh. This would surely be their triumph. It was reinforced with a strong keel and girders, built upright to make it large. It sported two and a half layers: an above-deck, a below-deck, and a lower short deck below. A pavilion in the fore, and in the rear, with the rear one one could climb upon. A tall and sturdy mast. A painted and carved prow, taller than a man, telling of Oddi's exploits. A designated coral hearth, long and able to host feasts even while at sea. Space enough for ten, almost two arm-spans across at it's belly, and eight from prow to rudder! Room for four bamboo Ti-Rassi, large enough that a normal man's houseboat could dock comfortably at either side on special occasions - when lashed with Chief Tital's ship, it would make a veritable island. Tital's ship may have been slightly bigger but this one would undoubtedly put hers to shame.
Actually, it wouldn't do to embarrass her… Ledi thought. She would have to invite Tital to see it, and then arrange for her father to help make Tital an even grander ship to curry even more favor. It stung to immediately have their shining glory be eclipsed, but the Chief's ship likely had boreworms due to its age and would call for a grander ship anyways. More importantly, Ledi could not afford to upset the bond that Tital and Oddi had. They were like siblings. That was why Favorite-of-the-Gods was fit for a Sasnak Chief, because Tital would eventually make Oddi one. Skillful Sunfish had grown too large for a single chief to manage, and there was too much territory for them with too little time in the year - blossoming to more fishing grounds and trading routes. The bond that Tital and Oddi forged prior to and during the war made Oddi the natural pick for a new chief. Especially if I help Tital along. Ledi thought, smiling to herself.
Things worked out better than she hoped and dreamed, and it looked like when the gods smiled on Oddi, they gave Ledi a smile too. Who knows? thought Ledi, Perhaps my children shall be Marehs and their children will be gods.*

2023.05.31 06:00 spider1178 Are click type torque wrenches accurate below the bottom number on the shaft?
| Hoping you guys could answer a question for me that came up today. Employer wanted me to torque bolts on some sensitive equipment to 10 ft lbs with a clicky torque wrench that only went down to 20 ft lbs on the handle. He said to just set it at 20 and turned the handle back (counter clockwise) by 10. I could feel the tension from the spring (or whatever is inside the handle) release. I was always under the impression that this type of torque wrench was not accurate below that lowest marked setting, and that using it this way could screw up the calibration. Am I right, or is his way acceptable? submitted by spider1178 to MechanicAdvice [link] [comments] |

🔴
Great! Can you explain that to me a little more? Ok, let's say you did the Primary membership activation which is $6.95. Also, users who sign up to this site using your affiliate link will only do a Primary membership activation of $6.95,
If You are still In your Prime Rank Direct commission is 25%.
That means your affiliate sales referral income$6.95 × 25% = $1.74.
If you work for about 5 months and build about 150 direct affiliates,Your DIRECT commission is monthly$1.74 × 150 = $261
NextLet's suppose that your 150 direct affiliates have become affiliates more or less and found 100 direct affiliates as an average. Now the number of your indirect affiliates150 × 100 = 15000
Now your indirect affiliate commission income for 1st level will be 20% of the $1.74 commission that your direct affiliate gets. That means your indirect affiliate commission income is $0.35.
After multiplying indirect commission by 15000 affiliate referrals,
$1.74 × 20% = $0.35$0.35×15000 = $5250
👆 Your first level of income.
This program earns you up to 4 levels of indirect affiliate commission.
Level 2 indirect commission is 15%. Then if the 15000 people built their 100 direct affiliates, now you have a total of 1,500,000 affiliate referrals. If you calculate the total income of 1,500,000 affiliate referrals,
$1.74 × 15% = $0.26$0.26 × 1500000 = $390,000.
So far your total number of affiliate referrals is 1515150
Then your monthly income is $395,511
😲😲😲🤑
By now you have achieved all the ranks of ⭐Prime >>⭐ Optimus >> ⭐Mentor >> ⭐Master and have reached the rank of ⭐Emperor for a long time.If you look closely at the affiliate program I sent you, you will see,In Emperoe Rank, the direct commission you get is 40%. Here is the commission rate of 4 indirect commission levelsrespectively28% << 23% << 16% << 10%.Think about the income you will get then, calculate itYour income will be more than what I have shown you here.
And I showed this assuming that everyone activates their membership by paying $6.95, which is the lowest membership on the metapayclicks site, the primary membership package. But think about how much more your income will increase if you activate other memberships like Professional ($12.95), Business ($21.95), Ultimate ($34.95), and Infinity ($49.95) provided by metapayclicks.
I am saying that if you work properly for 5 to 6 months, you will get income in this system within a year or two, not in two or three days.
🔴 ⭐The important thing is that you don't need to do an affiliate program to earn money from the metapayclicks website. If you like it you can do it, or if you don't like it you don't have to do it. There is no pressure on anyone. You can earn two to three times your activated membership by doing daily jobs and mini-jobs offered by the website.
So affiliate only those who like it. 😉🤗🤩🤩
➡️ If I think now, there are so many people doing the affiliate program ❓❓❓, I can't do this... Stop there✋ Come out of the island mentality. The world population is 8 billionThere are 2.93 billion people on Facebook alone* 😲🤑
So if you want more details, I am ready to explain the details about the metapayclicks website at any time. thank you so much. have a great day!

2023.05.31 05:48 moragatro Concrete patio void - looking for advice
| Hey everyone, looking for any advice on how to proceed with fixing a void under my rear patio. I'm in Western Canada, soil is mostly clay but the fill around my foundation is sandy, patio is on the north side of my house, and I am a novice landscaper. I recently moved into a newly constructed house and noticed, following a heavy rain storm, the sod along the edge of my back patio had sunken. I removed the sod and could see clear under the patio to the basement foundation. I drilled a hole near the window well and measured the void depth at around 10 inches. I filled in around the edge as best I could with fill and considered my options. Note the patio is sloped away from the house and supported with metal attached to the foundation, there is one crack but otherwise the pads in good condition. My main concern is water against the home foundation. The home does have a sump pump, but it's required due to the high water table in the area and has not been very active even when raining. Should also note that I will be rerouting the gutter downspouts along the fence to a drain in the back alley, that is the major source of water in the yard. I had a few quotes from contractors who can fill the void with foam or flowable fill, but they've all commented on the fact that continued settlement and drainage issues are likely to result in the problem returning. I've fussed around with levels and it looks to me that the grade was meant to go toward the fence along the side of the home and to the front storm drain, but evidently from the photos the low point beside the pad likely brings water under the patio and into the void space. So, all that said, im thinking about two options. Curious for input or alternatives, as stated I'm a novice and have been quite humbled by other projects! Lots to learn. - Get the void filled and install a French drain along the edge of the pad to the fence and alongside the fence to the front of the home. From my measurements it looks like I have the elevation drop necessary to slope the drain 1% and surface it at the front. This is less invasive and seemed that it would be cheaper, may not be the case, but i'd prefer a more permanent solution. I've watched too many videos on french drains, and I'm concerned that maintenance and freezing will make the drain a nuisance.
- I can have the patio removed entirely, fill the void with fill, compact, and regrade away from the home and fence without messing up the neighbors drainage. I've been thinking about building a short deck anyways, and I'm not too attached to the patio. I figured this would be quite expensive and considered doing the work myself, but I got a quote back that is considerably less than the void fill quotes. If I do this I'll probably install a French drain, at least along the fence on the side of the house, anyways to keep the water moving.
Thank you! submitted by moragatro to landscaping [link] [comments] |
2023.05.31 05:45 utter_disgr-ace I came out to my half of my coworkers my age and immediately fell (fashionably) at Mcdonald’s yesterday
I have no words for this, but at least I have a unique coming out story.
So there’s this guy at my work who likes me a lot (like, a lot) and I feel so bad because he really is the sweetest guy ever. He really is. And apparently a lot of my coworkers have been rooting for us to get together.
I had no idea, until a couple of my coworkers (some of the only people my age) were asking me if I liked him or not while I was putting some trash in the trash wheelbarrow thing near the stocking shelves. There was an occurrence about a week or two earlier that I remembered. It was the first day that I worked together with him (I’m new) and there were a few other new faces I had met.
He was pretty chill, and I really didn’t think much of it. He goes to same school I used to go before I transferred out, and he’s in JROTC. (Military class for high schoolers). A lot of people in his family are military (like 2-3 generations) and he’s going into the air force. He also wants to be a music director (I think it was director) because he really likes music.
There was another lady that day who literally looks just like Kirstin Baxter from Last Man Standing, but way skinnier. She was cooing over us mom-style and was like “omgg he likes you a lot!!”
So since that day, I’ve worked with him maybe once more, and I didn’t really know what to say.
Every time my two coworkers ask me, I’ve just been saying how I think I might like him and i don’t know. It’s true. I *want* to like him. I can see how rare and genuine he is. And I’m so sorry, but there’s nothing there.💀
So finally, a few days ago, I realized why.
I legit fucking forgot that I’m not fucking straight.💀
I’m demi-ace.
It literally took my almost half a decade to realize, and that’s another hot story, but long story short I’m a dumbass when it comes to sexuality and romance and dating and shit. And I feel so bad for him.
So anyways, one of my coworkers yesterday (i’ll just call him Ninsnsnscjsjsnsns) asked me, “Why don’t you like him?” Which was perfect because that was exactly what I was trying to say. (I was trying to explain why I don’t like him).
So I just straight up go “I’m not straight”.
(If my coworkers see this, you are free to correct anything that is wrong, I’m trying my best, and I don’t mind 💀 I’d appreciate it actually)
And they both got wrecked. “Ninsnsnscjsjsnsns” and “Cdhsjwhhehwhshs” Like they were on a rollercoaster of trying to figure this out (me too tbh), and that was the hammer that took them out. They were both tripping so hard. The guy, “Ninsnsnscjsjsnsns” misheard me and was like, “wait, did you say that you only like girls??” because 💀 after I said that I wasn’t straight, I said that I’m demi-ace but I mumbled it. And both he and the girl “Cdhsjwhhehwhshs” heard dummy-ace. I had to say “demi” a few times and then finally spell it. It was “Cdhsjwhhehwhshs” (the girl) who got it first, but it was almost simultaneous.
And then I had to explain what “demi” meant 💀. And then Ninsnsnscjsjsnsns asked me, once he understood it, if I would still date him and wait a couple months for me to develop feelings. I told him that it would take like a few years (like 4-5) for me to even develop feelings, and then once he got it, he asked if I would still pursue a relationship, and then wait for it to happen (“it” being me developing feelings) and i was like “nooo”. Btw both of my coworkers are sweet as hell, and so is the guy who likes me.
Immediately after we all started to recover, I picked up two happy meals and a bag of “I-have-no-ducking-clue-I-forgot” for the lady at the drive thru. This was immediately after I just finished explaining the demi thing. Ninsnsnscjsjsnsns goes back for a sec to go bag an order and Cdhsjwhhehwhshs is still there bc she’s working the drinks/drive thru with me. Cdhsjwhhehwhshs saw the whole thing and Ninsnsnscjsjsnsns heard it.
Anyways, I grab the food after coming out to them and I fell to the floor faster than Busta Rhymes rapping. I’ve never gone down so fast. And the lady is staring at me 💀💀 And she sees me almost crying/laughing while holding two happy meals and her food 💀 And me just hit the floor. But because I prioritize the customers over my life/safety, I threw my arms up to keep them from falling. So I hit the floor, and she just sees two arms up in the air, still holding her fucking food. 💀💀 Lady, I’m so fucking sorry. You looked so fucking confused. I’m so fucking sorry 💀 I can’t breathe oh my god.
I royally ripped off one of the golden arches on the happy meals, and both arches looked so banged up 💀 She just said that it was okay, she’ll take them.
That’s not even the worst part.
After everyone asked me if I was okay, Ninsnsnscjsjsnsns came over and asked how my ass was. Here’s what happened:
Me: I didn’t FALL! I did the SPLITS!!
Ninsnsnscjsjsnsns’s eyebrows: fly up sky-high as he goes shocked pikachu face and bursts into laughter because truly wtf was that twist
Ninsnsnscjsjsnsns: doubles over, as i melt into the floor half doubled over as well, because I was trying so hard not to laugh either
Me, Cdhsjwhhehwhshs and Ninsnsnscjsjsnsns: collectively melt while our brains explode/do a hard restart bc at this point it’s just twist after fucking twist
Ninsnsnscjsjsnsns: (??? idfk i forgot something like “you did the splits??😭”
Me: “Not only that, but when I did the splits, my left leg [the one in the front] bent at the knee, so like,,”
Me: “????” (gestures in ace-confusion)
Cdhsjwhhehwhshs: “I forgot about that!! That’s right 😭 She did like some sort of rockstar pose when she went down 😂😂😂😭✋”
That’s when we lost again, and I almost slipped and smashed my forehead on the ground because the floor was still slippery 💀
Anyways, the whole damn time, that guy who likes me is still hopping between front counter and drive thru and has NO FUCKING CLUE that anything is going down (not that i’d be able to see, because not only did I forgot the shoe cover things, but I also forgot my contacts and I didn’t bring my glasses because I was going to wear glasses, so who the hell knows, maybe he did see something).
And so anyways, after he clocked out at 10 (I leave at 11) I broke his heart, and he’s understandably sad about it. He said that it was okay, we can still be friends. Here’s how I broke his heart below:
“I’m so sorry. Someone told me that you liked me, and I’m very sorry, but I’m not straight.”
He doesn’t know anything other than I’m not straight, because I don’t have the mental capacity and I still have whiplash from wtf happened yesterday. I’m not sure if I even want to go into detail about my sexuality yet, or if I even want to date if the future.
But hey, I came out at least?
And for those concerned for him, I feel so bad
:( he was a little gloomy today, but i’ll have to post more in a second update bc my phone is on 1% I hope I can post this is time bc I also lost my charger the day before yesterday so I’ll update soon if y’all want that… I have been trying to as gentle as possible with him today and will continue to do that in the future

2023.05.31 05:44 StrawberryTherapy I have ONE DAY to watch Detective Conan, what should I watch?
I've got ONE DAY and ONE DAY ONLY to watch Detective Conan. I want the most memorable & best possible experience for this speed-run binge.
I love Detective Conan. It holds a very special place in my heart. ...but you know, I'm getting older and my life has become so extremely busy. Let's say that (hypothetically) somehow a miracle happens and my wish comes true and I am granted ONE DAY to binge watch Detective Conan, and then perhaps it's very likely that I will never be able to watch it again.
Can you kind folks and fans help compile a scheduled program list for me to watch on this very special day? Your most favorite, memorable, & emotional cases/episodes/movies/specials that this community would deem worthy of being shown on my one and only day to watch one of the very best anime series EVER MADE!
The way that I math this is that there is 24 hours in a day (of course). I need to subtract 8 hours of sleep and at least 1 hour for bathroom, making food, and misc stuff. That leaves me with a maximum of 15 hours to speed-run binge/cram in the best highlights that this series has to offer!
I think that I'll likely stream it live, so I can remember this day in my life forever. Who knows, maybe I'll even invite some friends
It might take some time to put this list together and I would appreciate some help. I'm going to break it down by each hour. I'll wake up at 8am to start.
12am: SLEEP for 8 Hours 8 am: 9 am: 10 am: 11 pm: 12 pm: 1 pm: 2 pm: 3 pm: 4 pm: 5 pm: 6 pm: 7 pm: 8 pm: 9 pm: 10 pm: 11 pm:

2023.05.31 05:43 dddbbbkkkeee Weight gain during recovery? Is this normal (and if it is, how do I not feel awful about myself)?
TW// mention of weight and numbers below.
I’m about 3 months into treatment for my binge eating disorder and have been logging all my meals without any calories for the first time in years. As per my therapists request, I’m eating 3 regular meals a day + snacks if I’m hungry in between and I’ve really been listening to my hunger cues / even naturally moving more because of a recent move and trip.
Today, I weighed myself and found out I’ve gained almost 10 lbs. This only reaffirmed my feelings of being “heavy” internally and wanting to restrict as a result and now I feel like I’m heading down a downward spiral.
I went from 80kg to 93kg in a year, and the thought that I’ve gained about 4kg back in an attempt to help myself makes me want to cry. I feel like nothing I do will help anymore.
Is this part of the process? Am I doing something wrong? Has anyone else gone through this?

What are the connections to the bigger MCU in Shin Kamen Rider?
The Kamen Rider franchise is one of the most popular in all of Japan. It has been running for over 40 years, with the latest iteration, Shin Kamen Rider, currently airing. The franchise is about a motorcycle-riding masked superhero who fights evil. The connection to the bigger Marvel Cinematic Universe is interesting. In the MCU, the Kamen Rider would be akin to Spider-Man, in that they are both masked vigilantes who fight crime. However, the Kamen Rider has a number of unique abilities that set him apart. For instance, the Kamen Rider can transform into various forms, each with their own unique set of powers. The Kamen Rider also has access to a wide variety of high-tech gadgets and weaponry, which he uses to fight evil. This is similar to Iron Man, who is also a technologically-advanced superhero. Another connection to the MCU is the fact that the Kamen Rider’s costume is red and black, similar to the costume of Daredevil. So, while the Kamen Rider may not be as well-known in the West, there are certainly a number of connections to be made between this Japanese superhero and the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.

When it comes to tokusatsu, or live-action superhero shows, one of the most popular and well-known franchises is Kamen Rider. Starting in 1971, the show has seen numerous iterations and subsequences, with the most recent being Shin Kamen Rider. This version of the show was broadcasted online for free, something that was very unusual for the franchise. So, is this the end of the line for Kamen Rider? Probably not. While it is true that Shin Kamen Rider was something of a departure from the norm, it is also important to remember that the franchise has always been one of the most adaptable and resilient out there. After all, it has been going strong for almost 50 years now. There is no doubt that Shin Kamen Rider was a unique take on the franchise. It was darker and edgier, with a more adult-oriented story. However, it was also a commercial success, with many fans tuning in to watch it. This shows that there is still a large audience for Kamen Rider, even if it is not the same as it was in the past. Of course, it is possible that Shin Kamen Rider is the end of the line for the franchise. But, given its history, it is more likely that this is simply a new beginning. Who knows what the future holds for Kamen Rider? All we can do is wait and see.

2023.05.31 05:37 Bumblebee_Queasy 2019 Honda Civic EX to replace my 2002 Honda CRV
Unfortunately, living in Nashville, this is actually a pretty standard deal. I’ve looked at new 11th gen civic sports and ex models and while the dealer says they’re about 25k they end up being about 30k with dealer additions and fees and that’s BEFORE taxes, lowest I’ve gotten was 28.5k for a new sport model and I really want to keep it 25k or less. What y’all think of this car? How are the 1.5t engines?

2023.05.31 05:37 DoctorDisco007 I just spent the past 7 months watching all of AHS through for the first time! Here's how I rank the seasons (with long explanations)
- Hotel: This is the season that took me the longest to get through by far. I had a really hard time connecting with most of the characters, and found the plot to be totally all over the place. Jessica Lange's absence was really felt in this season, and John Lowe didn't get interesting for me as a protagonist until the last few episodes. Lady Gaga and Angela Bassett were great, and so was Denis O'Hare. Hotel had like 100 plotlines and I felt like it was both hard to follow and not super engaging.
- Double Feature: I totally get that this season was dealt a really bad hand by the pandemic. Its downfall is that neither half of it feels finished. I honestly would have been fine with a whole season of Red Tide or Death Valley, but having half of each leaves both feeling undercooked. Red Tide does horror better than a lot of seasons do, but its episodes tend to focus on the wrong characters and ideas. Finn Wittrock saves the season though. Death Valley could have been decent if given more breathing room. We hardly spend any time with the characters in the modern day, and the flashbacks feel like exposition for exposition's sake. Not connecting these aliens to those in Asylum was a mistake too. Both halves of Double Feature have a lot of missed potential, but at least they were enjoyable to binge through.
- Murder House: I'm gonna get people mad at me with this one for sure. From this point on the list, I think they're all strong seasons. But Murder House is really tonally jarring for me. All of the actors are playing up the melodrama to such a high level here that I can't take them seriously. It's not as campy as later seasons, but the growing pains of Ryan Murphy as a writer are on full display. I just don't like most of the characters either. Ben is hard to root for because he's such an ass, Tate and Violet are pretty insufferable, and Hayden gets old quick. I think Connie Britton is really excellent, but apart from her, this season doesn't do too much for me aside from some good scares here and there.
- Cult: This season tried something really different, and I have to give credit where credit's due. Like NYC, Cult goes for the "real" horror, just letting the audience watch how awful human beings can be to one another. Cult is politically charged but effective. I don't feel like it beats you over the head with the MAGA stuff, but draws enough parallels between Kai's cult and Trump's real life supporters to be chilling. Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson are really great in this season too, definitely some of their best performances. Billie Lourd is great, and just seeing everyone become slowly unhinged is quite scary. Having a lesbian couple front and center is important representation for me too, even if their relationship is insane.
- Apocalypse: A beautiful mess. This season is almost purely fanservice. After seven seasons though, I think that's deserved. Seeing all of the witches come back is pretty amazing, and I guess the return to Murder House is fine, although that episode didn't do too much for me outside of Jessica Lange coming back. Cody Fern makes a great villain as Michael Langdon, and I buy that it takes all of the witches to stop him. The first few episodes of the season are honestly still really intriguing even before the witches show up. I think the season just has an interesting view of what would happen in an Apocalypse. Having Stevie Nicks back for a cameo is a joy, and I feel like this is a proper last hurrah with the full original cast.
- NYC: So I just finished this one, and I'm conflicted. On the one hand, it's very very out of the ballpark of what American Horror Story typically is, but on the other hand most of it is excellent. So it lands in the middle for me. I'm a queer woman who wasn't around in the 1980s, but really enjoys learning about gay and lesbian history from that period, so getting a full season about the gay community in NYC is pretty awesome. Despite being newcomers, Russell Tovey and Joe Mantello are absolutely amazing. Gino and Patrick tracking down these killers makes for great TV. Mr Whitely is absolutely terrifying too, and seeing him get his comeuppance is well worth the wait. The looming dread of the audience but not the characters knowing that AIDS is coming is really well done. NYC just really loses me in the two part finale. Part one is too heavy and too real for me. This is what my queer elders endured and it is really painful to watch Patrick die like that. Part two just feels tacked on to me. I think the allegorical nature of Big Daddy only sort of works, and I don't think blurring the lines so much between reality and hallucination/allegory works in the season's favor.
- Coven: This season just gets to be fun! Every once in a while that's needed, especially because the previous two seasons had been comparably dark. Angela Bassett and Kathy Bates make exceptional debuts as Marie Laveau and Delphine LaLaurie, and Jessica Lange is great as Fiona. The stakes feel a lot smaller, and really it's just a bunch of witches being catty with each other. All of them have such strong personalities though that it makes for a great watch. Neither Kyle, the Axeman, nor Spaulding really worked for me though. Coven is best when it focuses on the women. I love Misty Day to pieces and her death broke my heart.
- Freak Show: Speaking of breaking hearts!! This season definitely has the best and deepest emotional journey in my opinion. I fell in love with my family of freaks, which made the last episodes absolutely gut wrenching. Dandy is a character that is almost too scary. Obviously I watch this show to get scared, but like episode 9 of NYC, Dandy is just too much at times. But he is an effective villain, and it makes the freaks even easier to root for. Having Evan Peters as a full on protagonist is one of this season's best strengths. Evan does a great job at playing crazy characters too, but he really anchors the cast as the hero. Neil Patrick Harris coming in at the end hurts the season overall, but when you have characters like Bette and Dot, Jimmy, Desiree, Ethel, Pepper, Eve, Penny, Suzi, and Ma Petite with you on screen it's perfect. The Pepper backstory episode is absolutely heartbreaking, Twisty makes a terrifying misunderstood villain, and I dig the modern music that gets used. And I love Elsa Mars so much. Definitely my favorite Jessica Lange performance after Sister Jude. She's kind of awful sure, but Elsa still has a lot of heart, and she clearly cares for the freaks. The whole season feels like Elsa and Jessica Lange's swansong, and it's perfect.
- Roanoke: I feel like this is going to make people mad too but I loved Roanoke! One of the most bingeable seasons for sure and it's so creative and meta too. Adina Porter is a real star, and so is Kathy Bates. This felt like proper AHS again after Hotel was so rocky. It's really scary, it does the slashing and the gore but also the suspense and mystery very well. The found footage works for me, and the ending with Lana Winters is great. There are some seasons that I love that I connect with really deeply like Freak Show, and there are some that are just really entertaining AHS that hits all the right buttons.
- 1984: That latter description is true of 1984 for me too. It's just fun! I absolutely adore the 80s setting and soundtrack, and the costumes are perfect. I love Montana so much! I want to be her and kiss her at the same time lol. Emma Roberts is so great, and so are John Carroll Lynch, Angelica Ross, Zach Villa, Leslie Grossman, and even Matthew Morrison! I feel like 1984 has a really tight and satisfying narrative, and takes some of the most successful themes and tropes of past AHS seasons to make the perfect one. It's another really bingeable one and just gets everything right.
- Asylum: Cliched answer, but it's that way for a reason. This season is soooo heavy though, I don't know if I'll be able to revisit it. Everybody in this cast gives an emmy winning performance, and there's really not a single weak link. This season is fucking terrifying, not just for the subject matter, but also for seeing the rawness of the emotions drawn out of every actor. Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Lily Rabe, Zachary Quinto, Joseph Fiennes, and James Cromwell just give out of this world performances. The desperation I had while watching to see if Lana and then Jude would make it out of Briarcliff was palpable. Then that last episode is just disgusting. Seeing the conditions in Briarcliff when Lana goes back for her expose is terrifying. The aliens, the angel of death, Anne Frank, santa claus, all these crazy things work really well too. The body horror and the psychological horror is peak AHS here, and so are the performances. Undoubtedly the best.

2023.05.31 05:35 Edwardthecrazyman Hiraeth or Where the Children Play: Wizard Tonics and Silly Little Love Songs [4]
Previous/
The wagons or tanks rolled through the gate in a caravan that was more akin to a carnival than a group of tradesmen; all the wizards with their pointed hats were shaped magnificently against the browns and grays, some wore white porcelain dramedy masks beneath headwear as dark as pipe resin, men and women and those between—as that was common from where they hailed. Their company was perhaps forty and their mules and mares were thirsty and were led to troughs to idle while the wizards removed goods from their wagons or tanks and although it was not a spectacle for them to arrive within Golgotha’s walls, it was something still and the citizens gathered to greet whatever wizards they might know but mostly perhaps to whisper rumors on them. The wizards seemed a taller folk, but that was because of the hats, and they seemed wider too, but that was for the robes they adorned with costume jewelry, trinkets, or fingernail-sized lanterns which contained magical properties hung off their clothes as ornaments (some metal and other crudely wooden). I never knew a people that could trek the wastes in that time as well as me till I knew them.
Boss Maron was there at the gates with his wall men, hollering—shouting really, “The Whores of Babylon have come again!” And the bells signaled from atop the highest tower over the hall of Bosses and I met the front square with a morning headache and a cigarette. The Boss sheriff was clothed, cowboy hat pulled tightly to his ears, and he waltzed through the square, inspecting the new arrivals with his crotch out in front of him as he moved in a swagger like a cup of shifted water. Morning sunlight crested the wall to reflect on the pistol in his holster as it did on the star pin of his hat.
Among them, there was only one wizard I cared to see. Their name was Suzanne.
The hanged bodies of the men remained on the wall, dead and stiff and shifting to the little wind there was.
The square had filled with carts (some drawn by animals and others pushed on oil), and even if it were not for the bells which signaled their arrival, I’d have surely known their presence for the clatter of their metal engines.
“Well goddamn!” said Maron while examining a wizard, “What’s that you’ve got on your legs?”
The wizard, a young woman in plain pants wore a set of leg braces and whenever she moved, she did so in shifting her hips around. “Braces,” she said.
“What’s it for? Or is it some of your all’s secret whodo?”
“I’ve got bad legs. The braces help.” She said plainly, attempting to angle herself straight like a stick against one of the traveling party’s wagons.
“Bad legs?” Boss Maron’s expression was incredulous. “Who has bad legs? What sort of nonsense is it? If a lady like you’s made it this far in life with bad legs, then someone’s done you a disservice.”
She looked on questioningly while the other wizards continued with their unpacking or their conversating—whether it be amongst themselves or with the freckle-spaced citizens in the square.
“How are you to outrun trouble when you’ve got them?” He nodded at the young woman’s legs.
“I don’t.” Her face was red either because of the sun or because of the scrutiny. “I’m just bow-legged.”
“Damn,” he shook his head, “Well how much you want for one of them?”
“One of my braces?”
“Yeah. All I want’s the one anyway.”
“I need both of them.”
“C’mon. You wouldn’t notice just one missing. I mean, you’ve got a spare right next to it.”
Upon noticing a robed figure I recognized by the animals at the troughs, I moved to them instead and let Maron’s conversation fall to the wayside. The chatter of the crowd was wild and startled words came as a wizard exposed their collection of tonics to passersby.
“Suzanne,” I said.
The figure turned to face me, moving their head to look away from a mare they’d been brushing to expose one of those white porcelain masks.
I knew it and could not contain a smile.
“Harlan?” asked the figure. The mask on its face was split in the middle with hinges on either side and they opened it to show their face; it was Suzanne. They’d grown some hair around their throat and wore lipstick on their lips and dyes on their eyes.
“It’s good to see you.” I pushed myself into a hug with them and I could smell the travel off them but didn’t care.
They shifted timidly before hugging me back and I pretended not to notice. Once we’d separated, I looked on Suzanne’s face again and they were looking on at the hanging men on the wall. “Again?” they asked.
I nodded and shot a look towards the Boss across the way.
“What justice?” they asked no one while shaking their head.
Trying an answer, I said, “Justice is something man made, I think. I’ll leave men to men and the rest to God.”
“God.” Suzanne nodded glumly then shook their head. “Which one?”
I laughed a good laugh that felt real but nervous too then kicked the ground and took the last drag off my cigarette before chucking it to the ground. “What’s brought you here?”
Suzanne answered plainly. “We took a long time east out near Pittsburgh.” Their eyes scanned the buildings further on from the square. “The people there are worse than here, it seems. At least you still have your walls.”
“Pittsburgh’s fallen?”
They frowned. “Not completely. They’ve mostly gone underground. A skitterbug infestation caused a plague directly before an attack of proportions I’ve yet seen.” Suzanne’s brow furrowed. “It was awful.” The words hung in the air for a moment. “But we’re here now and thought we’d stop for a rest and some guns and ammo before returning to Babylon. We’ve brought some medicines to trade.”
I learned from my friend that Pittsburgh’s infrastructure and fortifications were decimated in an attack the wizards only caught second-hand and the survivors—holed away in the tunnels beneath Pittsburgh—told of how the demons ran the walls once their reserves were low.
Then the wizards gathered there began unpacking books, some scrolls, and there were medicines too and some of the Bosses other than Maron (he pushed his harassment of the young wizard with leg braces) graced us there with their presence as they came on and began to pick across the goods, haggling prices. Boss Frank was there, and he stood before a wizard by a tank with a wooden table of jars—capped elixirs of varying colors—he grew increasingly frustrated with their selection and took on in his braggadocious way, speaking of numbers. A few of the idle wizards leaned against carts or even took across town and a small group of them had gathered for a quick show near the guard posts, playing instruments (strings over the vocals of “In My Life”) and there in the front of them was a young wizard man that had removed his hat to show how he played with fire flames off his hands—it was a sideshow play—and the citizens wore variations of bemusement or disgust. The children of Golgotha, all dirty faced with sprigs of hair jutting about from their morning’s waking, seemed totally bewildered in the joy of song and clapped their hands or shook their hips all with smiles.
I stuffed my hands in my jacket and prodded Suzanne, “What’s with the plague? I mean, was it contained? None of your lot got sick, did they?”
Suzanne scoffed, perhaps a little pridefully, “No. I wouldn’t worry about that.” They patted a nearby mule then withdrew a brush and moved it across its thin coat before looking over its hooves. “I’ve brought you some books I found out that way though. You still read?”
I nodded.
“Don’t expect any of that fiction. The only ones I’ve found recently are old pamphlets or medical texts.” Suzanne paused and smiled, returning the animal brush to their robes, “You haven’t happened upon anything that might interest me, have you?”
Their shown teeth were infectious. “Mayhap. I’d need you to come back to my place so I could give them to you.” An awkward pause followed and the roar of the still accumulating crowd overtook the space between us before I continued. “Mostly interesting containers and a few flecks of gold I took from some old computers—they’ve been waitin’ on you for weeks now. I got some parchment that might be of use to you too. You can take what you need as always.”
“How about we get some food? I’m famished. Riding through the night takes its toll.”
Me and Suzanne took from the square up a narrow route that led through residences where the lower levels had their curtains drawn and then we took stairs toward balconies and catwalks configured from reinforced metal; we spoke as we went and a few odd glances from passersby met the wizard as we did.
“The tide on the east is rising again,” said Suzanne.
“Worse than before?”
“Worse than before.”
“God, I don’t think I’ve seen the ocean for a decade or more.” I slid my hand along the railing once we came to what was essentially my front porch; it was a perch among the catwalks that cut against the domicile where I shared walls with others on three sides and we stopped there outside my door. “We saw a dragon only a few days ago.”
Suzanne’s interest seemed piqued. “A dragon? And what direction was it traveling?”
“Well,” I craned over the railing, looking down the narrow walkway that separated my building and the one across the way; I couldn’t see the front square from outside my home, but I could still just make out the music echoing from that direction, “Could’ve been north or west. I was preoccupied, but I wouldn’t worry much. The wall men gave it a pretty good thrashing before it took off.”
“Hmm.”
“So, the ocean? It’s rising, huh?”
They joined me there on railing, supporting themselves against their forearms. “It is. Faster than ever. Some bad magic’s taken the water. I imagine by the end of the year Pittsburgh will be under it. There’s something bad coming. You might call it intuition if you want, but I know it’s coming. Something bad. Revelations bad. There comes a time when even those of us forsaken are brought worse.”
“Bah!” I couldn’t help it, “John thought it was the end times while he wrote the damn thing. And what about all the other books? Hm?”
Suzanne put up their hands. “I didn’t mean it like that at all. You know I’m only the mildest scholar on the topic.”
“Anyway. You’d better not start having visions. Got enough to worry about as is.” I’d not realized my shoulders were tense until their hand touched me, and I flinched.
“You’ve a bruise around your neck. Care to elaborate there?”
I shook my head. “Got into a fight.”
Suzanne laughed, removed their pointed hat and playfully put it on my head. “C’mon. Cook me something. You might not know a thing about spices, but your cooking’s always tasted better.”
We took through my door to my small single room where simple amenities awaited and an ancient, decommissioned pump-shotgun hung on the wall over the bed. “That’s just ‘cause you ain’t the one laboring over it.”
Across a meal of potato cakes and toasted bread, we drank coffee until I broke into the liquor to spice my coffee and alleviate my hangover, and we shared the drink and Suzanne took to wash in the sink while I smoked outside on the overlook. Upon returning to the room, I saw them there with a wet rag stuffed beneath an armpit and they were beautiful caught without robes, frame cast in sunglow through the crack in my doorway. In a moment, our hands glided around one another in a scramble of arms at the middle point between us and we took to bed for a while.
Come midday, we remained there, staring at the ceiling, chests bare, and blanket strewn across our lower halves.
“You’re going gray,” said Suzanne.
“You’re getting old too, ya’know.”
“Yes.”
“How long did you say you’ll be staying?” I asked while trying to mask whatever excitement may be present.
“Few days. Once we’ve enough ammunition.” They traced their index finger along my ear lobe.
“Stay.” I offered.
They frowned. “Come.”
“I did already.”
They gave me a light shove and cut their eyes at me. Hazel. How good that color was. “Really. What keeps you here?”
“Things.” I pushed up in the bed to sit, finagling my underwear from the jeans on the floor.
“I wish you would.”
“I’m no wizard.”
“You don’t need to be.”
“Maybe there will come a time when I take you up on that offer. Who knows?” I slid into the drawers.
“Is it Maron?” they asked, “I don’t know your fascination with him. He’s the worst combination cruel and dumb I’ve seen.”
“Like an animal.” I nodded. “Like something real bad’s wrong with him. But no. He’s not my fascination.” Lying was always hard with them. “I worry about this place. I wouldn’t do the things I do if I didn’t. What if I were to leave it and then it turns out like Pittsburgh.”
“Oh, you’re an expert in plagues now?”
“No,” I scoffed, “I guess it’s just a place that weighs on my conscious.” I went to sit on the bed alongside them.
“You hate it here. I can see it more on your face every time we meet.”
“That I do. Call it an investment dilemma. I’ve put time in it, and I want it to be well.”
“That doesn’t sound like you.”
I caught Suzanne’s face there, staring up from the flat pillow, flustered. My reasoning was hard, but I continued, “There is one thing I should undo before I leave here. It’s a long time coming, and I don’t know if I can. But it’s important,” upon seeing their quizzical expression, I added, “And it is secret.”
“I wish you’d come with us. You’d be welcome.”
“I’ll visit Babylon sometime next month. I promise.”
“You shouldn’t call it that. I don’t like it when you call it that.” The wizards never called their home Babylon; that was a name conjured by the many religious fanatics that considered their magic evil (even if they did trade with the ‘heretics’ from time to time). The name they’d given their own city of medicine was Alexandria; it was fitting for I’d seen their expansive libraries and could become lost in them easily.
“Fine. I’ll be there.” I squeezed their hand in mine. “I’ll miss you once you’ve gone.”
“Don’t get sappy,” they said before planting a kiss on my forehead.
The day went and then the next and another and the wizards packed their belongings. No more music for Golgotha, only quiet agony. As Suzanne said, they’d left me a few books and I’d given away my parchment, jars, and gold. While they were in town, I even was able to snag a few more bottles of their famous wizard liquor along with a few vials of medicine—always good to have whenever I set foot beyond the walls or when someone within might need it.
There came a time finally—as every time it does—where I watched the caravan, with gray smoke clouds off the engines, take on north first where there was an opening wide enough in the ruins to accommodate vehicles, then it hooked around a wide bend that took them west then their black shapes against the red morning skyline disappeared like fading ink as their magic cloaked them entirely. I wished them well, but at the moment of dissipation, I felt an urge to leap from the top of the wall, charge across the field, scream that I was coming and scream it loud enough that I’d hurt myself. I think I just loved—though I never said it aloud and neither did they—and love is a bad thing more often than it is good, for the longing it leaves in its absence drives a person mad and I did not want to be mad; the feeling burst from me quietly there on the wall while I was flanked on either side by guards. I was sure all along the way they went that I could just make out Suzanne among them; that was probably a fault in my vision, but I imagined they were casting glances back, hoping to hold me as strongly as I wished to hold them. I went to the streets of Golgotha where the town quieted from the previous days’ engagements with the wizards.
Normal came and settled and then came chanting from Lady as she moved through sullen quiet streets. She was so far off that I was not sure it was her at all and then came the lines as she drew nearer by the hydroponics towers, and she shouted them vigorously and shook her fist above the air and held a staff with a swinging lantern of incense in her opposite hand, partly for ceremony and partly for support. The words came harshly, gravelly:
“They called to the mountains and to the rocks, fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can withstand it?”
“The lamb will be your shepherd. He will guide you. Hallelujah! He will lead you to the springs of living water and wipe away every tear!”
“Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand! Do not be tempted by the deviousness of the whorish Babylonians for all the nations have drunk the maddening wine of her adulteries. The kings of the earth committed adultery with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries.”
A person, among the catwalks, shouted down at Lady, “Shut-the-fuck-up!”
I watched her come fully down the avenue as she dodged a thrown egg from somewhere unseen, then dashed away toward an offshoot alley to hide somewhere, incense lantern smoking, clanging against her back while she screeched off more scripture from memory. After she was long gone, I moved to the spot where the egg was, rubbed it into dirt with the sole of my boot and looked up through the spiderweb network of catwalks overhead; there was no one.
Without a thing keeping me, I took off the following day, and upon meeting the gates, Maron was there and I could see he was the proud owner of a used leg brace; he grinned upon seeing me, patting his mustache down with his forefinger and thumb.
“Whatcha’ think?” He motioned to his left leg. “It’s a bit of a conversation starter, ain’t it?”
“Get your boys to open the gate, I’m going out.”
He shook his head. “Won’t find anything out there. It’s all dirt and rubble, you know.”
“Just open it.”
“You know what?” He cut his eyes at me. “There’s gonna’ come a day when you won’t be so able bodied or maybe the Bosses won’t like you coming and going as you please.”
I inhaled heavily then let it go. “Now can’t we skip to the end where you acquiesce to my request?”
“Words words words you’ve got. You’ve got a lot of words. Acquiesce. Psshaw.” Boss Maron waved for the guards to open the gate and they did, and I stepped by him, and he spit somewhere behind me before I heard him hobble around with his single leg brace.
The path was clear and open on all sides and in no time, I’d taken across the field to the east and found myself on the edge of the ruins where things stank, and I was free from no other thought than to live. Creeping hot overcame me and brought my hair to my forehead and I holed off in a shadow to drank from my gourd before continuing. The sun was red in the sky in the places where I could see sky from around the black shadows of towering structures. I ducked beneath an old shop counter when I heard the skittering of fart heads and pulled a sleeve to kill the scent of their chlorine breath.
Once they’d gone, I pulled through the wreckage more and more till I came upon the markings for an old safehouse in the back office of a garage I’d not been to in a while. What were my intentions? Was I going to go all the way to the coast? Throw myself into those bad magic waters? There’s a thing they don’t teach you in religion. They prattle all day to do this or that and they say that Hell awaits sinners or Hades or maybe its in layers or circles or what have you. They’ll tell you about the places and they’ll say that if you take life into your own hands, you end in Hell, but what’s a person to do when those creeping intrusions come along—the ones that call to a person in the darkness, the ones where they tempt you to jump from a high place or there’s always a gun or a poison. Maybe a person could bribe another to do it for them. Where do they end up then? What are you supposed to do to stave off those thoughts? Should a person contend such melancholies with prayer? That did not seem helpful. What is the soulless to do without the promise of those pearly gates anyway?
Anyway, I took on past the safehouse and found a utility hall in the side of a tall industrial building just beyond a partially erect chain link fence. The wall was opened up like a cracked shell from years of standing alone, and after ducking through there, I found some old matches in a drawer, plastic gas cans whose contents had long since congealed within; I kicked them (not that I expected anything more). Moving further down the wide hallway, there were shelves of dusty tools, and I took some hammers and knives (cheapo stuff).
Further still down the hall, there was a staircase, and I took it quietly; the stone stairs made hardly a sound against the bottoms of my boots, and I took the stairs more quickly till I was out of breath and caught myself on a landing where I supped silent air before rushing further up the stairs. An old metallic cabinet or console—I couldn’t make it out—lay strewn across the steps to the second-highest floor and I climbed over it before coming to the building’s roof access. Upon coming to the door with a metal push bar across its middle, I gave it a shove and it did not budge but a minor clink and I took a moment to collect myself before rummaging through my gear.
Slung through a loop on the inside of my pack was a short prybar that was so worn around its tooth it was more rounded than an edge; I shimmied the piece of metal into the spot where the door latched into the way and began crimping the spot apart, trying all the while to maintain a relative quiet in the dead ruins. Once I’d bent away at the door for a few moments, I elevated my body weight at an awkward angle to pop the door free and it did so, half open, with a rusty screech that forced a long pause from me; I stood there by the newly opened doorway for a full minute, holding the prybar, holding my breath. Upon hearing nothing in response to the noise of the door, I slid the tool into my pack and slipped through the threshold.
The flat roof of the industrial building sloped to one corner—where the opening in the wall of the first floor was—and sitting there in the middle of an open platform was an old helicopter, blades half torn away or rusted off and the remaining slanted from the top of the old vehicle, touching the platform it sat upon. The roof access looked like a little square house atop the flat headed structure and around the side of the access, I found an old corpse (entirely bones) wrapped in black plastic-like armor, the white dry fingers laid across its lap, several digits gone and its hollow eye holes staring off into the sky with a permanent smile. I moved to the thing that hadn’t been human in a long time and prodded it; the skeleton slumped to the side and looked on the ground by its shoes. How long had it been staring at the sky and how long had it been waiting for me to come and change its dead visage?
I moved to the edge of the building, to the corner where the building sloped and looked off the edge to the ground below; all was quiet, and nothing moved save the shadows’ stalwart creep across the ground. Examining from above, I could see the opening I’d climbed through and beneath my shifting feet, I felt the ground give a little; timidly, I angled more forward and for a moment I thought I knew why I’d gone up there in the first place. Suddenly six-stories felt high. The urge to jump came. Perhaps on the way down, I’d have just a blink to convince myself I’d slipped.
“Hey!” A shout from somewhere down below came from the direction I’d come from. I shook my head as it felt as though it was a ghost echo, a noise that wasn’t. Then it came again, “Hey!”
I squinted my eyes and there in the crumbled road below, there was a human I didn’t initially recognize; it was only after the figure tumbled through the remains of the chain link fence that I recognized it as Dave. I blinked.
Out of breath, he angled over to the opening at the base of the structure and called up at me, “Hey! I see you up there!”
Whisper-yelling, I cupped my hands, “Shutup!”
I took back to the stairs, and he hollered after, “Where you going?”
With reckless abandon, I took the stairs many at a time, leapt the cabinet on the stairs, scrambling while also reaching for the prybar I’d put away. I held the cold metal in my hand and charged toward the industrial storage hallway where I could see him silhouetted in the frame of the crumbled opening.
His chest heaved and he wiped at his brow; slung across his shoulder was a small supply bag and worn like a necklace was a pair of binoculars. “God, you move fast. Like a fuckin’ cockroach in light.” His eyes shifted from my face to the prybar in my hand as I approached him.
Standing within the echoey hallway, I lifted the weapon and pointed it at him. “What’d you follow me for?”
“You wouldn’t use that on me.” He took his eyes from the prybar. “I don’t think you would anyway. You might be shady, Harlan, but I don’t take you as a stone-cold murderer.”
“You take me wrong,” I said.
“Maybe.” He seemed to think on it a moment. “You wouldn’t?”
“If you’ve given away my position to those things, I might.”
“Lots of bluster.” Dave offered an incredibly forced smile, and I could see just from the little shine of the sun in the opening that his eye had blacked but remained functional. “I been watching you.”
“Oh?”
He nodded. “I snuck out after you.”
“You ought to go back.”
“You ought to just listen. There ain’t a thing back there for me.”
“I don’t care.” The sharpness in my voice felt good. “I don’t need some sorry sack sneaking up on me when I’m mindin’ my own.”
A quiet laugh. “There’s nothing there for me. I been farming all my life and if I die,” he shrugged, “So be it.”
“Idiot. Fuckin’ idiot.”
“You manage out here! Wizards can too!”
“Wizards have magic.”
“You got some of that?”
I lowered the crowbar.
“We’ve got to stop starting our conversations with fights.” He paused and moved into the shadowy hallway of the building before perching in a half-sit half-lean against the wall near me. “I never was violent anyway, so if you want to hit me with that then do it.”
“Hmm.”
His shirt clung to him, sweat thick and dark on his chest and pits. “Goddamn you move fast.”
“You should wear a jacket or something. Long sleeves keep the sun off and a thicker material gives you a modicum of protection.” I took to squatting too, maintaining ample distance betwixt us. “A hat helps too, but I’m always losing hats.” I chewed on my tongue while mulling over whether I should leave him.
“Are you going to try and slink away while I’m not looking?”
I blinked. “No.”
“Liar.” He took a healthy gulp from his water gourd then wiped his mouth. “East is the ocean?”
I nodded.
“Is it far?”
I nodded. “For you.”
Dave sighed. “Thank you.”
“For?”
“Telling me.”
“Okay.”
“You ever have any kids?”
I shook my head.
“It’s somethin’. Henry had so much energy—especially when he was little—there was times I didn’t think he’d ever settle down.”
“What are you doing out here?” I asked.
“Helen told me she was the same way when she was his age. She had energy too. I feel so tired.”
“Dave. What the fuck are you doing out here? Why’d you follow me?”
He took one last swallow from his gourd before shoving it into his pack. “I wanted to talk to you about killin’ the Bosses.”
I laughed into my hand. “That’s—that’s a thought.”
“I mean it.” His stare was like pinpricks.

2023.05.31 05:33 Infamous-Face-7119 I left a mason jar full of poop in my friend’s bathroom closet
This happened back in September 2018 during my senior year of high school. My (21M) high school goes all out for homecoming and we have to create decorations to place around the school. I was active with homecoming and planned to go help build something but I had to go to a family party beforehand. I get to the party and there was a ton of food so I made myself a plate and ate it. I did not feel weird or anything and did not have to use the bathroom. I leave the party and pick up my friend and we head to the house where all the decorations were. We get to the house and I feel fine for the first hour but I suddenly feel the need to use the bathroom. I ask my friend if I could use the bathroom and he said yes.
There are two bathrooms in his house. One upstairs and one downstairs that leads into the backyard. Another entrance leads into the house so I take the one that leads into the kitchen. I walked into the downstairs backroom and sit on the toilet and take care of my business. After I finish I wipe and go to push the handle down but the toilet doesn’t make any noise. I press it again and nothing happens. I sit up and look at the toilet and there is NO WATER IN THE BOWL!!! I take off the lid and look in the tank and notice that the pump was broken and there wasn’t any water sitting in the tank. I assumed there would be water in the bowl and the toilet would work so I sat down and used it. My friend never said the downstairs bathroom is broken so I didn’t know. YES, I SHOULD HAVE CHECKED TO SEE IF THE TOILET HAD WATER BUT I DID NOT !!!
I start to freak out and open the door and no one was in the door. I start thinking about what to do. I open the cabinet below the sink and there was a mason jar and a plastic bag next to each other. I put the plastic bag over my hand and grab EVERYTHING that was sitting in the toilet bowl and wrap it tightly. I put it in the mason jar and close the lid tightly. Now I got the contents out of the toilet but now I’m holding a mason jar full of poop in my hand. Any logical person would sneak the jar out of the house and throw it in the garbage but I am not a very logical person. I start to walk out of the bathroom with the jar but someone upstairs walked by and I panicked and went back to the bathroom. There was a shower next to the toilet so I decided to put it on the shelf and close the shower door. I walk out of the bathroom again but the guilt consumes me and I go back to grab the jar. I start freaking out again so I decide to put the mason jar back underneath the sink in the place I found it and close the door. There was a can of Febreze on the floor so I picked it up and sprayed the bathroom for a solid minute. I leave the bathroom and go to the sink in the garage to wash my hands and head back to the backyard. I sit next to my friend who I drove with and he asks where I have been and I tell him in a monotone voice that we need to leave in 20 minutes. He asks why and I tell him I would explain everything once we leave. We leave 20 minutes later and I tell my friend what happened and he almost fainted from laughing.
I knew my friend would find out but I hoped that whoever found the mason jar would just throw it away but two months later my friend texts the group chat asking if anyone used the downstairs bathroom because there was a mason jar full of poop under the sink. A couple of people replied but there were about 35 people in the group chat and only 3 people replied. I didn’t reply. I have seen that friend a couple more times since and he has not acted differently around me so I don’t think he assumes it was me. I will never tell anyone what I did. Only my friend and my sister know what I did but the guilt still gets me to this day.

At San Diego Comic-Con in July, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson had other people raising eyebrows when he said that his long-awaited superhero debut in Watch ‘The Roundup: No Way Out would be the beginning of “a new era” for the DC Extended Universe naturally followed: What did he mean? And what would that kind of reset mean for the remainder of DCEU's roster, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the rest of the Justice League, Suicide Squad, Shazam and so on.As
Watch ‘The Roundup: No Way Out neared theaters, though, Johnson clarified that statement in a recent sit-down with Yahoo Entertainment (watch above).
“I feel like this is our opportunity now to expand the DC Universe and what we have in Watch ‘The Roundup: No Way Out , which I think is really cool just as a fan, is we introduce five new superheroes to the world,” Johnson tells us. Aldis Hodge's Hawkman, Noah Centineo's Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell's Cyclone and Pierce Brosnan's Doctor Fate, who together comprise the Justice Society.) “One anti-hero.” (That would be DJ's Watch ‘The Roundup: No Way Out .)
“And what an opportunity. The Justice Society pre-dated the Justice League. So opportunity, expand out the universe, in my mind… all these characters interact. That's why you see in Watch ‘The Roundup: No Way Out , we acknowledge everyone: Batman , Superman , Wonder Woman, Flash, we acknowledge everybody. There's also some Easter eggs in there, too.So that's what I meant by the resetting. Maybe resetting' wasn't a good term.only
one can claim to be the most powerful superhero .And Johnson, when gently pressed, says it's his indestructible, 5,000-year-old Kahndaqi warrior also known as Teth-Adam, that is the most powerful superhero in any universe, DC, Marvel or otherwise
"By the way, it's not hyperbole because we made the movie."And we made him this powerful.
There's nothing so wrong with “Watch ‘The Roundup: No Way Out ” that it should be avoided, but nothing—besides the appealing presence of Dwayne Johnson—that makes it worth rushing out to see. spectacles that have more or less taken over studio filmmaking, but it accumulates the genre's—and the business's—bad habits into a single two- hour-plus package, and only hints at the format's occasional pleasures. “Watch ‘The Roundup: No Way Out ” feels like a place-filler for a movie that's remaining to be made, but, in its bare and shrugged-off sufficiency, it does one positive thing that, if nothing else, at least accounts for its success: for all the churning action and elaborately jerry-rigged plot, there's little to distract from the movie's pedestal-like display of Johnson, its real-life superhero.
It's no less numbing to find material meant for children retconned for adults—and, in the process, for most of the naïve delight to be leached out, and for any serious concerns to be shoehorned in and then waved away with dazzle and noise. Watch ‘The Roundup: No Way Out ” offers a moral realm that draws no lines, a personal one of simplistic stakes, a political one that suggests any interpretation, an audiovisual one that rehashes long-familiar tropes and repackages overused devices for a commercial experiment that might as well wear its import as its title. When I was in Paris in 1983, Jerry Lewis—yes, they really did love him there—had a new movie in theaters. You're Crazy, Jerry."Watch ‘The Roundup: No Way Out " could be retitled 'You're a Superhero, Dwayne'—it's the marketing team's PowerPoint presentation extended to feature length.
In addition to being Johnson's DC Universe debut, “Watch ‘The Roundup: No Way Out ” is also notable for marking the return of Henry Cavill's Superman. The cameo is likely to set up future showdowns between the two characters, but Hodge was completely unaware of it until he saw the film.
“They kept that all the way under wraps, and I didn't know until maybe a day or two before the premiere,” he recently said Watch ‘The Roundup: No Way Out FULLMOVIE ONLINE

Watch ‘The Roundup: No Way Out has finally ended the box office blues. It will be a close call, but based on the estimates, the year's biggest opener remains Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness with its $187 million start. Nonetheless, WThe Roundup: No Way Outnda Forever's $180 million opening is a huge one, being the biggest ever for the month of November (beating the $158 million of The The Roundup: No Way Out Games: Catching Fire), the second biggest of the year, and the 13th biggest of all time (though it could go up or down a few slots once the actuals come out). It led an overall weekend box office of $208 million, which is the fourth biggest of the year and the biggest by a long shot of the past four months, with no other weekend since July 8 -10 even going above $133 million.
This isn't the $202 million opening that we saw from Watch ‘The Roundup: No Way Out in February 2018, nor should we expect the amazing legs that were able to get that film to an astonishing $700 million. With that said, expect it to perform strong throughout the holiday season, likely repeating the five-weekend number-one streak that the first film had, and it shouldn't have any trouble becoming the second highest grossing film of the year so far, beating the $411 million cume of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The audience response is strong, with the A CinemaScore falling below the first film's A+ but bouncing back from the B+'s earned by Doctor Strange 2 and Magic Mike's Last Dance, which ranked among the worst for the MCU. improvement over the recent franchise installations, with the aforementioned films coming in at 74% and 64% respectively on Rotten Tomatoes, both at the lower end for Marvel films, while WThe Roundup: No Way Outnda Forever's 84% is closer to franchise norms, though not meeting the high bar set by the first Watch ‘The Roundup: No Way Out 's 96%.
The sequel opened to $150 million internationally, which Disney reports is 4% ahead of the first film when comparing like for likes at current exchange rates. Overall, the global cume comes to $330 million. Can it become the year's third film to make it past $1 billion worldwide despite China and Russia, which made up around $124 million of the first film's $682 million international box office, being out of play? It may be tough, but it's not impossible. Legging out past $500 million is plausible on the domestic front (that would be a multiplier of at least 2.7), and another $500 million abroad would be a drop of around $58 million from the original after excluding the two MIA markets. It'd be another story if audiences didn't love the film, but the positive reception suggests that WThe Roundup: No Way Outnda Forever will outperform the legs on this year's earlier MCU titles (Multiverse of Madness and Love and Thunder had multipliers of 2.2 and 2.3 respectively).
As for the rest of the box office, there's little to get excited about, with nothing else grossing above $10 million as Hollywood shied away from releasing anything significant not just this weekend but also over the previous two weekends. When Watch ‘The Roundup: No Way Out opened in 2018, there was no counterprogramming that opened the same weekend, but Peter Rabbit and Fifty Shades Freed were in their second weekends and took second and third with $17.5 million and $17.3 million respectively. That weekend had an overall cume of $287 million compared to $208 million this weekend Take away the $22 million gap between the two Watch ‘The Roundup: No Way Out films and there's still a $57 million gap between the two weekends. The difference may not feel that large when a mega blockbuster is propping up the grosses, but the contrast is harsher when the mid-level films are the entire box office as we saw in recent months.
Watch ‘The Roundup: No Way Out , which is the biggest grosser of the rough post-summer, pre-WThe Roundup: No Way Outnda Forever season, came in second with just $8.6 million. Despite the blockbuster competition that arrived in its fourth weekend, the numbers didn't totally collapse, dropping 53 % for a cume of $151 million. Worldwide it is at $352 million, which isn't a great cume as the grosses start to wind down considering its $200 million budget. Still, it's the biggest of any film since Magic Mike's Last Dance, though WThe Roundup: No Way Outnda Forever will overtake it any day now.
Watch ‘The Roundup: No Way Out came in third place in its fourth weekend, down 29% with $6.1 million, emerging as one of the season's most durable grossers and one of the year's few bright spots when it comes to films for adults. The domestic cume is $56.5 million Fourth place went to Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, which had a negligible drop of 5% for a $3.2 million sixth weekend and $40.8 million cume., in fact )
Which isn't surprising considering it's the only family film on the market, and it's close to grossing four times its $11.4 million opening. Still, the $72.6 million worldwide cume is soft given the $50 million budget , though a number of international markets have yet to open.
Finishing up the top five is Watch ‘The Roundup: No Way Out , which had its biggest weekend drop yet, falling 42% for a $2.3 million seventh weekend. Of course, that's no reason to frown for the horror film, which has a domestic cume of $103 million and global cume of $ 210 million from a budget of just $20 million.
The one new specialty title of note comes from a filmmaker we don't typically associate with the specialty box office: Steven Spielberg. The Beard's semi-autobiographical family drama Watch ‘The Roundup: No Way Out opened in four theaters in New York and Los Angeles to $160k, a $40k average. The film expands to 600 theaters the day before Thanksgiving, and it has the potential to break out in a way that none of the other of the season's awards contenders have. We're also seeing very solid numbers from Watch ‘The Roundup: No Way Out , which grossed $1.7 million this weekend for a seventh place finish, bringing its cume to $5.8 million.
