2023.04.01 00:32 Jayswisher28 My take on the Mavericks & how to find success with Luka
I think the modern NBA has completely downplayed the importance and value of a true defensive anchor, enforcer, rebound chaser, paint protecting Center in the NBA and basketball in general.
I think this is the key piece that the Mavericks with or without Kyrie have been missing for the past few years now; a true solid Center to run the pick and roll through; along with hold down and help in the paint if Luka gets beat off the dribble (which happens pretty often) and fight for offensive rebounds and extra possessions when shooters aren’t hitting their spot up shots. Wood was a good addition for them and underrated offensive threat, but is more of a traditional 4/PF and Powell is more of a reserve/second team center.
This leads me to my next point; lack of a consistent knock-down spot up three point threat that can also help lock down on perimeter defense and cover a team’s #1 threat. The construction of the Mavericks with Kyrie and Luka as the primary playmakers surrounded by spot up shooters can work. That being said; a more consistent shooter too is very important and something they have lacked consistently through the past few years. I thought Hardaway Jr would fill that role but he lacks consistently. The other role players surrounding the stars are good off the bench or in specialized roles, but are not consistent enough or defensively sound enough for this to offset their value.
The last point of interest would be a solid PG/playmaker to keep the second unit going. The offensive should run similarly with Luka on and off the floor, and there should be a consistent ball handlePG to take the ball up with the second unit and run the offense. This would keep the schemes going and keep the offense flowing with the second unit.
In conclusion, I agree with your choices for who to surround Luka with. The Mavericks for years have needed better defense and more consistent spot-up shooters. When Luka is doubled or hedged, he needs that knock down guy he can count on. He also needs an anchor to help on the defensive end, along with someone who is a threat in a pick and roll situation for a lob or a big momentum play; someone who will force a mismatch on a switch or set a hard screen to give Luka his space for a step back. Finally; they need a solid backup PG to run their second unit through.
Do you agree with this perspective? What other factors or differences in opinion do you have?

2023.04.01 00:31 traksaa My last manic episode is still playing a tool in my mind
On my last manic episode I had a very intense spiritual feeling experience. I did this “ritual” and at the end I convinced myself I was clean and pure again. Then I was certain I should abstain from sex to keep pure and achieve my life goal. I was hospitalized but even after I got stable I kept that in the back of my mind because it was very intense and the “what if?” Well, I’m homossexual and maybe that’s something to do with this, as maybe I feel dirty after sex. Also I have STD phobia. It lasted for 5 months but just today I had sex and now I feel like I dropped the ball and did a huge mistake. Recently I watched “Dune” and I felt that maybe I’m that boy and the hand on fire ritual he went for me is sexual abstinence. Also watched “Everything Everywhere All at Once” and it also made me feel self centered. Oh, I’m shy to share this with my doctor 😔 Has anyone experienced anything similar to this?

2023.04.01 00:31 CrimsonDurian Can somebody help me diagnose this issue with my PC?
Hello everybody! Recently, I built a new PC for myself. This PC is having many issues. Every single game I've played (Fortnite, Fall Guys, Sea of Thieves, Ark: Survival Evolved, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Slime Rancher 2, and Roblox) crashes after a few minutes. These crashes are weird. Sometimes my whole system will restart itself, sometimes the game will just close with an error message, and sometimes my Windows install will corrupt. I've tried everything that I can think of to fix it: I've reinstalled Windows, restarted my computer, sent it to Micro Center to get repaired, et cetera. So far, nothing's worked except for one strange thing. I've found that if I take a RAM stick out of the computer (it doesn't matter which one), it stops crashing. While this is a good temporary fix, I want all of my 32GB of RAM. I've also found that enabling DOCP makes my whole system fail. In order to fix it, I have to disable DOCP. Can somebody help me diagnose this issue so I can fix it? Thanks. If anybody's wondering, I have a reference 6950 XT, a 7600x, a 2TB WD_BLACK SN850X, and 32GB of 5200Mhz G.Skill Trident RAM.

2023.04.01 00:30 girouxfilms 4 days in DC!
My husband and I are coming next weekend and we want to do it right! We fly in on Thursday and have a reservation at Martins in Georgetown. Where should we go after?? We love billiards, jazz, rock, wine, cocktails, or dives.
Friday, we are seeing a play at Kennedy Center in the afternoon. We need a brunch suggestion before and a dinner and nightlife suggestion after.
Saturday. How to choose which museum?! We are leaning towards Air & Space and checking out Library of Congress. That night we are going to a capitols game. What bar to go after??
Sunday we have an afternoon flight so that will likely be an early good bye, but if there’s a go to grab and go breakfast spot, lmk! TIA!!

2023.04.01 00:28 bkern2 Could Sam and Dean have been way more efficient?
So I'm doing a rewatch, currently 1/3 of the way j to season 7 and I don't think I've ever watched further than like season 9. The Ben and Lisa storyline really had me questioning if Dean could have found a way to maintain a family relationship and be a more efficient hunter. We saw in the episode with the Whore of Babylon that a whole town of hunters used fire trucks full of holy water and a megaphone to perform exorcism. Why didn't S&D try a variation of this? Like one of those backpack sprayer things you use for killing weeks but full of holy water, of as they're driving across the country stop and turn any body of water they find into holy water (I think it was like season 1 where Dean basically turned a well or something into holy water and used the house sprinklers against a dragon? I can't remember) . And I think eventually they figured out to use a recording of an exorcism as backup incase they were getting choked out or whatever.
But as far as with Lisa and Ben I feel like Dean definitely could have made it work better than he did. Like do the devils traps always have to be red? Or on the surface? Or could he have painted them on the sub floor and then laid other flooring over the top? And could Lisa and Ben also have gotten anti possession tattoos or had some sort of internal thing like cass did with sam and deans ribs? Dean could have also installed some sort of pvc pipe salt ring around the house and then left Lisa with an exorcism recording in case of an emergency. And then he could have cut down on his hunting territory, like Bobby seems to stay fairly local to Sioux falls (obviously because his main job is to be the dispatchefake fbi director but still) so dean could have maybe only done jobs within like say 4 hours of his home. When Sam stopped hunting there was an episode where he called in a job to Bobby and Bobby said he would find out who else was in the area which I feel like means there's enough of a network that Sam and Dean shouldn't always have to be all over the country.
Obviously the whole my brother is all I have, tragic lonely life is a main center point of the show which is why the Lisa and Ben thing couldn't happen but idk I like to think it could have worked had some thought been put into it.

2023.04.01 00:24 tropicsea Knee pain - learning to forward trot
Hello!
I am 26F and I started riding weekly back in Nov. I was volunteering at a therapeutic horse riding center and fell in love and had to learn. I am riding English and currently working on trotting for essentially my whole lesson and moreso getting my horse to trot faster.
I am in really good shape. I do pilates/yoga/barre 6 days a week, I walk my dog an hour a day and run 3x a week (I've stopped due to knee pain). So I haven't felt like riding has been physically difficult until recently when trotting for almost a full hour.
I am having insane unilateral posterior knee pain. I woke up this morning after my lesson and could hardly walk up the stairs but iced and took ibuprofen then worked out and it helped a bit.
I am working so hard on my form. I do lessons weekly. I don't know if I am hugging with my knees too much or if posting is just not great for the knees overall. My instructor is also pretty hard core with position (as am I) and I feel like she would tell me if I was hugging with my knees to do. Since I am trying to get my horse to be more forward, I am using my legs more but this knee pain is crazy.
Looking to see if any other newbies have had this experience or if anyone more experienced has advice. I dont want to stop riding but its not enjoyable if I can barely walk the day after.
Thanks all!

2023.04.01 00:24 tengrrl Job: Brown Visiting Teacher-Scholar Fellow in Writing Center Studies
Colleagues,
We just five minutes ago got approval to post this ad. No time to waste!
This is a tremendous opportunity for a new PhD with interests in writing program administration, writing center studies, DEI, and information literacy (the subject of our new Quality Enhancement Program). We seek a collaborative, imaginative partner to help us build sustainable pathways—and connections—between the Writing Center's work and our current, twin initiatives in anti-racist writing pedagogy and information literacy practices. This will involve creating alliances, bringing current and best practices to bear on faculty education around DEI, and working with a range of students, including our diverse staff of peer tutors, to enhance their skills and to embed them further into the curriculum. The Writing Center, the Writing Program, and the Library are close and friendly partners in all these endeavors, and we are eager to see what fresh energy a new PhD can bring.
The position is only two years, but it is a niche position designed to elevate and make more marketable anyone who fills it. Our previous Brown Visiting Teacher-Scholar is happily now on a TT line directing a writing program, which means that we have the start of a track record!
I'd appreciate it if you would share this widely. You'll also see this shortly on the SLAC-WPA list.
I'm the Writing Program Director, under whom this person will work, so don't hesitate to reach out for more information. Reach me here at [

2023.04.01 00:24 Dissonant-Void Blender object pivot different from Godot
| this is what the object looks like in blender: https://preview.redd.it/mvuym318e5ra1.png?width=1317&format=png&auto=webp&s=a7e04e4e09894060e486dda2639d2fe365129f04 as you can see the origin point is in the bottom center of the cube, transform applied. https://preview.redd.it/mo3wglite5ra1.png?width=1086&format=png&auto=webp&s=8f7d0fae3c2aee4dc68fa756875777b227c0a460 then I export to Godot (gltf 2), and the position of the cube is offseted, even though this shouldn't happen according to the Transform panel in the first screenshot, how can I fix this? I know that a simple solution is to move the object in blender to the center and have the origin matching the world origin, but that's not always the case, you don't always have one blender file per object, for example I may have one blender file where I have dungeon objects and tiles all together so I can see how everything look relative to other object and get an idea of the overall feel. I can't start to move every single object to 0,0,0 before export, so how can I do it? how can I export a scene container multiple objects to Godot and have every single one having an origin of 0,0,0? it's probably worth noting that in the first screenshot I applied "location to deltas" instead of "location" because applying location with move the origin point the the world origin, pls help! submitted by Dissonant-Void to godot [link] [comments] |

2023.04.01 00:22 Rooossone I want to invest in a new lathe, where to start?
Hey all,
Typical excited boi that has got the point where I need to invest in the dark arts of machining. naturally my first buy needs to be a lathe but I have been doing a fair bit of looking around and not sure where I really want to spend my money.
The one feature I know that I do want is power cross feed. DRO would be nice but can always be added on later. As for bed length, nothing over 900mm between centers is needed. AC motor would also be quite beneficial.
I have managed to identify a few potential winners but I have no idea on manufacturers out there or what's available to me in the UK.
So I humbly ask you all for some advice and help one what I want to put a few £££ into.
so number one in my list is;
Warco WM 250V Lathe Inverter Drive Metalworking WM250 I have no idea on company rep or consumer opinions on this one.
Number two;
Axminster Engineer Series SC4 Bench Lathe Axminster Tools I know and trust the Axminster brand so this is a natural strong contender for me.
Then I have this outlier;
Craftsman Lathe - Metalworking DRO Hobby Lathe (chesterhobbystore.com) I like the look of the DRO and its quite a serious looking machine.
So am I looking in the right places? have I missed obvious choices or not considered any game changers? What would you buy in my position?
I would love to hear from anybody that has something to offer this discussion...
