I really enjoy the intersectionality of this place. Had to take a picture. I particularly like the disorganized lines on the floor in contrast to the lines and symmetry of everything else.

2023.06.10 09:26 Count_Backwerdz 34[M4F] Nebraska/Anywhere Looking for a someone to share everything and be each other's human journals.

Hi there! 34M from the Midwest(US). Actually I just had a birthday, so still adjusting lol . Anyhow, a little about me and what keeps me busy: I just graduated about 9 months ago. I work as a department administrator at the same school. I'm also pretty involved in community/volunteer work. That has left little time for friendships over the last few years.
Post-grad, I've spent the last year researching and building a business which just officially established and if all goes accordingly, should see its launch this summer. I plan on entering a graduate program hopefully in the next few years, once my company is up and running. As busy as I often am, I'd like to take this time to find and make friends. I've been sober for 6 years and I'm appreciative of how completely different my life is at this time, but in changing things, I've become quite lonely.
What I hope to discover is someone that I can share both the mundane details of daily life with and maybe the deeper aspects too- I have a penchant for philosophical banter! I'd like to find someone to talk about everything from the humdrum blues of life, to the mysteries of the universe. I'd eventually enjoy having enough familiarity with someone that when they mention that one person, situation, or scenario I'll have enough foreknowledge of them as both a person and their daily life that it will have meaning and context. I can reply in a way that is not just some canned response but as someone who has a real vested interest. Of course, some of the same in return would be amazing. Our conversations can be as in depth or light as it happens, but always just what feels right.
Some of the things I like and hobbies: I'm a musician and spend a good deal of my free time writing music, recording, and playing. I'm also am a pretty voracious reader of both fiction and non-fiction, although partial to good science fiction and horror. I enjoy a lot of different interests. Some of them are psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, History, Philosophy, Biology, Ecology, linguistics, and others. I love the outdoors and try to get out as much as I can and out of the city when its possible.
Random Fact: I speak an endangered language that fewer than 6,000 people know fluently I'm not fluent yet but getting there :)
Less seriously, I like laughing and joking around the most and would hope to find someone else who does too!

Does anyone know what kind of mushroom this is?
So this terrarium has been around for a while just doing it’s thing. I definitely should’ve thrown it away but I was curious to see how it would develop. I made it originally with many succulents and mosses. On one of the plants I had bought there was a snail so I put it in there and things were good for a while until things started rotting. It seemed like the snail brought bacteria or maybe there was too much moisture I’m not sure what happened but things started decaying and I assume the snail died and what seemed like little worms started decomposing everything. It went through a phase where not much happened after that and slowly the webby looking spores you see started sprouting up. After the spores came that peen looking sprout in the last picture emerged and literally over the last couple of days has sprouted into this gigantic almost menacing looking mushroom. I cannot find anything on the internet about it and was wondering if anyone has ever seen a mushroom like this. It’s quite big and almost transparent with a greenish/yellow hue. I’ve never seen anything like it.

2023.06.10 09:24 erizofeliz Looking for a picture

Hi everyone! It may be a long shot, but i really can't find one picture for years: Probably it's an album/compilation cover or a punk festival poster. It is black and white, cartoonish style, and punks are fighting the police. Like overall there are around 10 people in the picture, and there are a number of different bands mentioned on their t-shirts - not sure of the names really, i think it was NOFX, pink uzi(?), probably subhumans and something else. Won't be surprised if there were some crust bands mentioned too. I had this picture on a hoodie when I was a teenager like 15+ years ago and I really loved it, but can't find this image since.

2023.06.10 09:23 Shamadruu Migraine-Safe Stylesheet for Main Site

Migraine-Safe Stylesheet for Main Site
As a migraine sufferer, I've long suffered through most of the main site being an outright visual assault when light sensitive. I finally got annoyed enough will browsing-with-migraine to both install an extension for managing stylesheets and write a basic stylesheet. It's nothing special and I didn't spend a lot of time or effort on it, but I figured I'd include a link here for other sufferers (or simply those who like dark themes) to use.
For ease of use and customization, I included a root element with variables for colors and page components, and used those variables in the sheet. Feel free to modify or share however you wish, although I will implement updates and improvements into the original as I run into problems on the site.
Here's the link [link]. I used Stylus for Firefox as my extension of choice, but it was entirely because I already how it installed - any extensions/addon that lets you use stylesheets should work.

Edit: Added an image of the restyled site. I generally tried to use as simple and migraine in-offensive colors as I could.

2023.06.10 09:23 flowwitham Similar recs to Castle Swimmer

Though it's a BL. I. liked how that wasn't the primarily focus. The writer had its own story to tell, with an excellent pacing. If you have read it, and have similar recs, please drop them in the comments. Thanks!! :) PS: If you haven't read it. Summary What happens when your entire life is ruled by a prophecy - your future foretold by people you've never met, who died long before you were born. Such is the story of two young sea creatures. One believed to be a guiding light for his people, a Beacon who will lead them to a bright, prosperous future. The other is a teenage prince for who's destiny is to KILL the Beacon so that HIS own people might thrive. When both reject the course set for them, it leads to a raucous adventure as big and unpredictable as the ocean itself - and a romance that nobody could have predicted.

2023.06.10 09:22 Mindless_Employee_54 What to do now?

What to do now?
So during lockdown I went from dark green to pastels. My natural hair is a very dark brown and I bleached it to go all kinds of nuances between pink, purple and blue. Since then I have touched up the roots to keep them light enough to dye.
Now my issue is that my current roots are about 5-6cm of dark brown and I am unsure of which way to go with my hair.
Since I have short bangs my turquoise will be gone soon and the back of my head looks like a mess. Should I do highlights? Should I bleach my roots and go for another round of pastels?
Last time I bleached it some of my hair didn’t take to the bleach as it used to. This has resulted in some three coloured areas with the tips being perfectly fine, the middle part having a little too much yellow and then the dark roots.
I should add that all things hair related is done by myself and my roomie.

2023.06.10 09:22 AmputeeBoy6983 Shooting at Gateway Bar and Grill, Sat 2AM

I live pretty close to this place. Coming home from hanging with some friends, beautiful out, windows down.... braking coming up on the light immediately in front of the bar and hear 2, what im pretty sure are gun shots (grew up around guns in country).
Coasting to a stop, I see 3 cars go peeling outta the driveway, and then hear what im now certain is 4 more shots. Bunch of movement outside, people scrambling different ways.

If anyone has any updates, please post. Curious if this hits the news or if anyone else saw/heard anything

2023.06.10 09:22 calmelb r/ANU will be joining the blackout to protest Reddit killing 3rd Party Apps

What's Going On?

A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.

On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader to Sync.

Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .

This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.

What's The Plan?

On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.

The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.

If you wish to still talk about ANU please come join us on the Discord (https://discord.gg/GwtFCap).

Us moderators all use third party reddit apps, removing access will harm our ability to moderate this community, even if you don't see it there are actions taken every week to remove bots and clean up posts.

What can you do?

Complain. Message the mods of /reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on /reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.

Spread the word. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join us at our sister sub at /ModCoord - but please don't pester mods you don't know by simply spamming their modmail.

Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!

Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible.

Random Fact: I speak an endangered language that fewer than 6,000 people know fluently I'm not fluent yet but getting there :)
Less seriously, I like laughing and joking around the most and would hope to find someone else who does too!

2023.06.10 09:21 HwyfarSun Announcement Regarding Reddit API Changes and Our Commitment to Support

To our members of adultsurvivors,
We wanted to take a moment to address the recent API changes implemented by Reddit and subsequent protest blackouts of subreddits as we believe it's essential to keep you informed about potential impacts on our community. More information on the changes and the resulting protest can be found at the links below:
Firstly, and most importantly, we will not be joining the blackout.
We want to assure you that as a support community for survivors of childhood sexual abuse our primary focus will always be on supporting you. We understand the importance of maintaining a safe and inclusive space and we will continue to prioritize your well-being above all else.
However, these API changes will likely have some consequences that we want to bring to your attention:
In light of these changes, we are actively exploring alternative avenues to enhance our support capabilities. We are currently in the process of building a Discord server which has been frequently requested by the community in the past. This server will serve as an accessible alternative and supplementary source of support alongside our subreddit. We would also be open to other options so please reach out if you'd like to share your ideas.
We want to emphasize that your well-being and the smooth operation of our community remain our top priorities. We will continue to adapt and find solutions to any challenges these API changes may present. We appreciate your understanding and patience during this transition period.
If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please reach out to us. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us shape the future of our community.
Thank you for being a part of this community and for your unwavering support for one another.
From your adultsurvivors mod team

2023.06.10 09:21 OrdinaryRabbit007 I just want to disappear and completely cut-off my family.

I grew up in a pretty bad household that involved adultery, alcoholism, and public scandal. Turning out to be a functional and productive member of this fucked up society despite our situation should be the eight wonder of the world.
We're quite comfortable now. My sibling and I both have stable jobs; may bahay at sasakyan; never late sa bill payments; and have disposable income to enjoy some few things in life. We thought we have left the past behind and have moved on with our lives. Hindi pa pala.
My mom had a history mga utang na hindi binabayaran. She lost some friends because of this. We were also forced to cover for her just to spare us from further embarassment.
Now, she's doing it again, and the manipulation is getting worse! She's using her health issues like she did before to get something from us. Also, random people would be messaging me asking for her. Apparently, she's already past due with her debts. Kaya she changed her username and profile picture in FB. We have no idea kung saan niya ginagastos yung pera na hinihiram niya since she doesn't live with us anymore.
Our youngest--we're no longer on speaking terms--had a child. She left home and nalaman na lang namin na buntis na. When she came back, walang accountability. Lahat ng ginawa niya sa amin were quickly forgiven and forgotten just because she had a child. Ngayon, my mom is expecting us to spoil yung bata and would guilt-trip us kapag hindi namin pinagbibigyan.
Kahit I'm paying for our groceries and bills--kuryente, tubig, and internet--sasabihin niya sa mga kamag-anak namin na wala akong ginagastos sa bahay. On top of those expenses, I also give my share para sa bayad sa bahay namin. Pero kahit nagbabayad din ako sa bahay, wala akong say sa mga pwedeng baguhin or ilagay. Papagalitan pa ako ng papa ko pag may gusto akong ipalagay.
Kaya madalas, I can't look at myself in the mirror. Pag nasa work naman, I always think that I'm a fraud kasi I'm constantly reminded of these issues.

2023.06.10 09:21 Count_Backwerdz 34[M4F] Nebraska/Anywhere Looking for a someone to share everything and be each other's human journals.
