Hello everyone! I joined your ranks as an ultrawide enjoyer a short while ago, but the monitor I went for, a second hand Neo G9, had a blue line of pixels across its entire width. Of course the seller didn't mention this at all. Luckily for me, the monitor was originally bought less than two years ago, and the warranty was still active, so I gave Samsung a call.
They asked me to do a factory reset, among other things, but the blue line didn't disappear. They asked me to send pictures of the defect, along with the receipt. And then they sent a friggin technician home to my house to replace the LCD.
Now the screen seems to work flawlessly, and I'm a happy customer. Figured I'd share, since you mostly ever hear about the unhappy customers, but I'm actually impressed by their customer care.

Hello all! Looking for some advice and I don’t know where to turn. My girlfriend and I rent a room in Christchurch and recently we have been getting the feeling our landlord is looking for a reason to kick us out of the house. About a week ago she texted us freaking out that we were late on rent and telling us we had 24 hours to leave or else we would be fined for trespassing. The text called us bad tenants and that she would only put up with responsible people and that she had a long list of people she could rent to who would pay on time. The thing is we weren’t late on rent. She thought it was Wednesday but it was only Tuesday, we have our bank set up to automatically pay her every Wednesday morning. We talked to her and she said it was just a misunderstanding and that everything is okay. Now we have been late on rent once in the past about a month ago. We had an unexpected medical emergency pop up and explained that to her and at the time she seemed okay with it. ($240 was due on a Wednesday, we could only pay $200 and paid the other $40 the next day when I got paid). I offered to pay a late fee but she declined and said it was fine. However recently it has felt she is looking for a reason to kick us out. Earlier this week she freaked out because we had put out milk on a shelf in the fridge that wasn’t our designated shelf. We just didn’t have room for it on our shelf and we were having leftover for dinner so by the end of the night we would have room to move it out shelf. There was plenty of room in that shelf so we thought no big deal. She threatened if she continued having to have these types of conversations with us she would make us leave because she doesn’t “do stress”. Today she texted us again mad about a piece of an onion skin that had accidentally landed next to bin instead of inside it. Once again bringing up she doesn’t “do stress” and was seriously considering kicking us out and that she had already kicked out another tenant for “being a stress”. Saying she only rents to extremely tidy people. We are beginning to suspect that she is just actively looking for reasons to kick us out. We have no written agreement, it was just a handshake deal (I know dumb on us). But we do have 2 months worth of bank statements that prove we have been paying rent. We also have gym memberships and store membership that prove we have been living here. If it does come to this and she out of the blue says we have 24 hrs to be out what are our rights? What can we do if she does tell us we have to leave? Are we just screwed or do we have some recourse? How much notice is she required to give us?
Tl;dr: landlord is looking for reason to kick us out. We are on time with rent every week. We have no written agreement. What are our rights? How much notice does she have to give to kick us out?

Title pretty much sums it up. My lease for my rental expired early May this year and my bank paid an extra fortnights worth of rent before I was able to cancel it.
Emailed the REA as soon as I realised, waited and waited, made a call to follow it up last week and radio silence.
Main two questions are, is overpaid rent to be paid independently of a bond refund? And if so, what are the legal avenues I can take to get my money back?. Amount is $900.

After about 6months Kena started cheating on me with my coworker (26m) who was homeless and sleeping on my couch. When I caught them she tried overdosing as I threw him out. Kena was taken on a suicide hold and called me from the hospital and said she never loved me the way she loved him. At the time I had a business devolping with a friend across the country and decided to move. I started the divorce proceedings, but she refused to sign them several times, and they were dropped, all the while maintaining a relationship with him. After a year, the business I was a partner in took off, and we managed to sell to a bigger fish and I went and started my dream career. Meanwhile, Kena and AP were trying to rub in how happy they were and antagonise me, yet she still refused the divorce. Kena had no idea of my success, and I didn't tell her. Now this is where the title comes into play, about 8 months ago I was hit and almost killed by an 18yo texting and driving and lost my eligibility to continue my career, the settlement just came in and it's a life changing amount of money, like pay off student loans and buy a house. Anyway, Kena actually ended up having a kid with the AP, and he ended up beating her and cheating on her. So now she's a single mother living in her aunts garage. I was talking to my friends (none of whom know her) and was telling them how karma is real because now I can divorce her, and she gets absolutely nothing from the settlement. Afterwards, they started screaming at me for how I'm an AH for letting Kena continue to struggle like that, knowing I can help her and her baby out of that situation. (Please note where I'm currently living money from a settlement/inheritance is not a Marital asset and not considered in divorce proceedings.) So am I the AH for letting her live the life she set up for herself?

I’ve been with my partner for almost two years. The first year and so was perfect. We were so in love and happy. We lived separately but seen each other about 4/5 times a week. He’s 27 and I’m 23. He came with a lot of baggage that he was very open with. I should’ve known he was a red flag from the beginning when our first few convos were only about his ex and the bad dreams he would still have about her after she up and left him after dating for 5 years. I should’ve known but I was so naive. I have never been in a serious relationship as this one. He has many times before. I’ve had my fair share of baggage as well. I do deal with severe depression, anxiety, and anger. When we first met I was battling my addiction as well but was a functioning addict. Anyways. We found out I was pregnant in dec 2022. Since that day forward we’ve been in a terrible state. I can’t stand him and he can’t stand me. I’m clearly not the one he wants to be with anymore and as much as I want to still be with him, I really am not happy and I know my happiness means more to me than anything else. I’m so depressed all over again. I was once in an abusive relationship with a man for only 4 months but it caused a lot of pain and trauma on me and I promised myself it would never happen again. He’s never been physically abusive to me but the emotional abusive is just as hurtful especially since I’ve been pregnant. I’ve thrown things at him before that have hit him and I always feel terrible after doing it. I’m not innocent in this. I’ve never been this person before and it’s so confusing to me. I look in the mirror and I don’t even recognize myself. I never wanted to be pregnant at my age but I couldn’t bring myself to have another abortion as the first one I’ve had was extremely painful and I felt as if I was dying.. it was too traumatic for me. I love my son and I love that I’m going to be a mother but the guilt that comes with it is eating me alive. I would never recommend going through this if you’re in a tough relationship. I wish I would’ve seen this side of him before I got pregnant. We currently live together but I so badly want to move out. I wish I could. My dad doesn’t have much room in his house but he always tells me I could move back and he can make space for me and the baby. I just feel so guilty coming back home with a baby. That’s not fair to my dad or anyone who lives at his household. I m so conflicted. I want my baby to have the best life possible but I don’t know if staying here is the right thing to do anymore. I’ve never hated myself more than I do now. My life is in shambles. I do love only 7 mins away from my mom vs living 45 min away from my dad. But my relationship with my mom isn’t so great. It’s good enough to have a relationship but not strong enough to live with one another. I’ve never really lived with her for that reason. I’ve always clung to my dad. My dad is currently dealing with my older sister who is an addict as well. So I don’t want to be another burden on him. I love my dad too much to put him through anymore stress… I loved my partner but looking at him now breaks my heart knowing he’s not the same man I fell in love with. This pregnancy has been so painful and hard to deal with and it doesn’t help feeling like I’m going through this alone. I hate venting about it to anyone bc no one understands.so I’m constantly dealing with a silent battle…. I don’t expect anyone to read this or even comment anything I just needed a safe space to vent. Im so sad and extremely guilty for being pregnant, this wasn’t the life I wanted for me nonetheless a baby. I hate myself more than ever. I wish I wasn’t in the situation that I’m in right now. It’s currently 1:20 am and I’m crying in the bathroom.

How to install Llmam.cpp in windows 11 without WSL, using only standard command line input. Model bin is downloaded from Hugging Face.
Prerequisites:

Install Anconda
Install Window Visual Studio with Visual Studio 16 2019 MSVC. This will be used by cmake.
Install Cmake by dowloading the using zip file, copy them to your prefer folder. Set the window environmental variable oarg to this folder.

Steps:

Create a conda virtual env called llama_cpp, activate llama_cpp
Create a window folder callled S:\Project_new\llama_cpp. Cd to this folder.
git clone https://github.com/ggerganov/llama.cpp
cd llama.cpp
Build the files using Cmake (Refer to https://github.com/ggerganov/llama.cpp/issues/103).
cmake -S . -B build/ -D CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release
cmake --build build/ --config Release
Copy all the .exe file in S:\Project_new\llama_cpp\llama.cpp\build\bin\Release to directory S:\Project_new\llama_cpp\llama.cpp
There is no model file in folder S:\Project_new\llama_cpp\llama.cpp\models you need to create it. By default the main.exe also search for model bin in models/7B/.
CD to S:\Project_new\llama_cpp\llama.cpp\models, mkdir 7B
CD 7B, copy the model bin from HF https://huggingface.co/TheBloke/LLaMa-7B-GGML/blob/main/llama-7b.ggmlv3.q4_0.bin and paste here. Rename the filename to 'llama-7b_ggmlv3_q4_0.bin'.

What are the best things to do in London England ?
There is a lot of history and culture in this great city. When you arrive, I recommend renting a car at the airport and driving straight downtown, or find a spot on the tube (the subway) with your luggage and take it into central London to start exploring!

- Westminster Abbey is a beautiful church that has been standing for centuries. It was originally built in the 10th century but has been expanded into what it is today, which makes it quite unique. - Trafalgar Square. This square is probably one of the most famous places in London due to its statuesque of Lord Nelson in the center and The National Gallery that surrounds it. There are a lot of people that hang out here, whether it be for a tour or just some quiet time with a book on the steps, as there are always benches!
- St Paul’s Cathedral is one of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen in my life. Every detail of this place has been thought of and it makes you feel like you are part of history being surrounded by the past. The best time to go is at sunset when everyone gathers outside for prayer!
- Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre is a reproduction of the original theatre from the time of William Shakespeare where his plays were first performed. It was opened in 1997 and has grown to be a great centre of education, entertainment, and tourism all centered around the works of Shakespeare! [end of text]

Ok so the title says it all. I live in a three story house (upstairs, downstairs, and basement). I have a total of two thermostats in my house, both being Nest 3rd gen. One being in the master bedroom and second being in the dining room. I had a hvac technician come over due to the fact that my upstairs ac was blowing hot air when I had it set to cool. Turns out my dumbass wired the nest incorrectly even though I copied the same wiring on my old thermostat. So I’m not worried about the master bedroom thermostat system info as the technician did that for me as well. What I am confused about is the dining rooms thermostat set up. I’ve attached a link to the picture of both thermostats wiring setup, including the system info and pictures of my basement furnace. Should the upstairs and downstairs info be the same? Any help would be much appreciated. (Yes I know Nest thermostats are shit and can be painful sometimes)

Before I stir anything up, I'm a HUGE F&F fan and i love the series dearly.
Last night I watched Fast X on digital and something occurred to me, none of the moments of this film are actually or will be iconic, maybe the dam scene but only because of the memes.
I think mainly because they've went a step further with the action... like there's a whole sequence where Dom plays football with a wrecking ball and also casually hits a crane? Plus, I'm fine with the family message even though the jokes is kinda old.
But like my issue is that everything from like F9 onwards won't be remembered like omg so cool. What was so cool back in the day and WAS ICONIC waa stuff like Fast Five scenes, Furious 7 plane scene and skyscraper scene... like of course it was realistic but I didn't see much people make fun of that like now because there was a huge ton of practicality to the stunt... because the stunts and action is kinda stupid like swinging with a car casually.... plus the new use of cgi is a bit more unsettling.
Another issue I had was how quickly everything escalated into action like how guards break into the Shaw's basement and even the whole how quickly after two sentences guards break into Mia's house and they initiate quickly.
And the dialogue, isn't the same anymore. They include way too many references in each line to previous films it's sort of like those weird reunion episodes of fast and furious
I did like the meta level of the villains and how they criticised it and everything but yeah, I think Fast X will be another fast film only iconic for being meme worthy.
Which is sad, I'm all for outlandish stunts but obviously not if its fully cgi. They need to go back to formula, do some Tom Cruise level stuff even if Vin won't sacrifice that bald face. Everyone wants racing but I feel it needs the perfect level we got in Fast Five which is challenging after everything they've introduced. They just need work on a bit.
Honestly, I think post covid Internet is what to blame, I've said this for ages that it's not really the same. Everything is digital, everything is so saturated in the media so easily and films release is forgotten within 2 weeks

Mr parents have rented from a housing association/council for 39 years.. have applied for right to buy and have received their response which, after discount, is a purchase price of 21k (undervalued with a 69%)
The basic idea is I would lend them the 20-30K needed to buy and modernise the house (as basic like double glazing have been very neglected). They would repay the debt at a rate much lower than their current £500/month rent and I would end up owning the house.
If they sell the house (to me or anyone else) in the first 5 years there are discount repayment clauses. Also, they are both 70 years old, so plenty to think about there
Any tips would be very welcome!
My general thoughts/questions were..

If they were to both pass away in the first 5 years and leave the house to me, would their be a repayment required or has the contract stating the repayment effectively ended?
If the last parent was to need full time care home.. does the house get sold to cover costs? If soo, could they pay me back any outstanding money before having to hand over money for care? Or does that depend exactly how I’ve lent it to them.
Is there a better way to lend my parents the money. I have it available as cash, hence don’t really want a joint mortgage, but open to all ideas.
After the 5 years, I’m free to buy the house. But any thoughts on the best option? Should I buy it, transfer it somehow, inherit it when the time comes.. or some kind of joint ownership (99% me, 1% for them) to avoid landlord/tenant status

I [24M] been in a relationship [24F] for nearly a year now, still living in separate houses. Anyway I'd like to think that I'm mostly good at controlling my emotions, either by letting them slide or taking to my partner about them.
However I have realised that some really stupid things bug me/make me angry, more than they should. For example, when she doesn't text me when she wakes up (doesn't happen often, usually she does text me). She works the night shift so she sleeps till midday. So no text when she wakes up and the next text I get is "at work now" which is already late at night.
My usual response is to not text/call until she reaches out first.
I know that this is a small thing, but no matter that I try my brain doesn't want to let it go, and the more time that passes with her not reaching out the angrier my brain gets.

The Seneca's Revenge

A striking story is told of a Seneca youth who for many years and through a wearisome captivity nourished the hope of vengeance so dear to the Indian soul.
A certain tribe of the Senecas had settled on the shores of Lake Erie, when they were surprised by their ancient enemies the Illinois, and in spite of a stout resistance many of them were slain, and a woman and a boy taken prisoner.
When the victors halted for the night they built a great fire, and proceeded to celebrate their success by singing triumphant songs, in which they commanded the boy to join them. The boy pretended that he did not know their language, but said that he would sing their song in his own tongue, to which they assented; but instead of a pæan in their praise he sang a song of vengeance, in which he vowed that if he were spared all of them would lose their scalps.
A few days afterward the woman became so exhausted that she could walk no farther, so the Illinois slew her.
But before she died she extracted a promise from the boy that he would avenge her, and would never cease to be a Seneca.
In a few days they arrived at the Illinois camp, where a council was held to consider the fate of the captive lad.
Some were for instantly putting him to death, but their chief ruled that should he be able to
live through their tortures he would be worthy of becoming an Illinois.
They seized the wretched lad and held his bare feet to the glowing council-fire, then after piercing them they told him to run a race.
He bounded forward, and ran so swiftly that he soon gained the Great House of the tribe, where he seated himself upon a wild-cat skin.
Another council was held, and the Illinois braves agreed that the lad possessed high courage and would make a great warrior; but others argued that he knew their war-path and might betray them, and it was finally decided that he should be burnt at the stake.
As he was about to perish in this manner an aged warrior suggested that if he were able to withstand their last torture he should be permitted to live.
Accordingly he held the unfortunate boy under water in a pool until only a spark of life remained in him, but he survived, and became an Illinois warrior.
Years passed, and the boy reached manhood and married a chief's daughter.
His strength and endurance became proverbial, but the warriors of the tribe of his adoption would never permit him to take part in their warlike expeditions.
At length a raid against the Senecas was mooted, and he begged so hard to be allowed to
accompany the braves that at last they consented.
Indeed, so great was their admiration of the skill with which he outlined a plan of campaign that they made him chief of the expedition.
For many days the party marched toward the Seneca country; but when at last they neared it their scouts reported that there were no signs of the tribe, and that the Senecas must have quitted their territory.
Their leader, however, proposed to go in search of the enemy himself, along with another warrior of the tribe, and this was agreed to.
When the pair had gone five or six miles the leader said to his companion that it would be better if they separated, as they would then be able to cover more ground.
Passing on to where he knew he would find the Senecas, he warned them of their danger, and arranged that an ambush of his kinsfolk should lie in wait for the Illinois.
Returning to the Illinois camp, he reported that he had seen nothing, but that he well remembered the Seneca hiding-place.
He asked to be given the bravest warriors, and assured the council that he would soon
bring them the scalps of their foes.
Suspecting nothing, they assented to his proposal, and he was followed by the flower of the Illinois tribe, all unaware that five hundred Senecas awaited them in the valley.
The youth led his men right into the heart of the ambush; then, pretending to miss his footing, he fell.
This was the signal for the Senecas to rise on every side.
Yelling their war-cry, they rushed from their shelter and fell on the dismayed Illinois, who gave way on every side.
The slaughter was immense.
Vengeance nerved the arms of the Seneca braves, and of three hundred Illinois but two escaped.
The leader of the expedition was borne in triumph to the Seneca village, where to listening hundreds he told the story of his capture and long-meditated revenge.
He became a great chief among his people, and even to this day his name is uttered by them with honour and reverence.

2023.06.10 10:17 No-Salamander2547 Trouble getting a bank to lend on this property

So here is some background. My sister and I are looking to buy our first house. We have had our offer accepted for a few weeks, we had agreements in principle with a high street bank, the surveyor has completed all his works and said there are no issues, however when it comes to getting the mortgage banks are turning us down due to the “risks associated with the property”. We pass all of the affordability checks, we have put down a larger deposit than the minimum amount yet when it comes to getting the valuation, we keep getting turned down due to this.
The flat is based in london, on a high street. It is above a commercial property, which in this instance is a nail salon, and is also located in front of a bus stop. Otherwise the house has no other issues. It has been renovated recently and is in good condition, all windows are double glazed so it’s silent inside, there are no structural issues yet three high street banks have got to the stage where they have declined us due to these risks.
We are both devastated because we thought it was an amazing property, and we have already spent quite a bit of money on legal fees and surveyor fees. We were wondering if anyone else has had similar issues and if so, we’re there any lenders that you found that we’re willing to take the risk associated with apparent loud areas, and being on top of commercial properties.
I know it might be quite a niche topic, but if anyone could offer any suggestions or past experiences that may help I would be so grateful.
